I have been here twice, both times for lunch. It gets very busy very quickly, so arrive early if you don't want to wait for a table...:) First time, I was meeting someone. I arrived first and was seated immediately. YAY!! Our server came by and took my drink order and then asked if I wanted to place my lunch order. I told her I was waiting for my friend and to come back when she arrived. I had the Philly cheesesteak...delicious!! My friend had the Wasabi appetizer which she also said was very good. For the first time. it was an OK experience. The second time was right after Christmas...again packed to the gills. We decided to eat at the bar. There were 3 of us...we got waited on immediately. Our appetizers came out promptly and were hot and delicious. My hamburger was cooked a little too well done for my taste, but it was good. The others in my party had the salmon and the cheesesteak. They both raved about their meals. I think one the "hoopla" wears off, this will be a welcome addition to Greenville's restaurant base. Long story short. I ordered the New Orleans pasta. Once I got my food home, my pastas was cold. There was only 3 shrimps ( when it should have been 5) and one piece of a sausage (which I have can even believe). I eat here at least once or twice a month. But this the kicker. The scene can grow from just a few folks to packed at any time of day...but I opine that the long wait times, save holiday's and that occasional anomalous day, are less frequent now that the honeymoon is over. The food, in terms of preparation, consistency, taste, smell, & temp, is qualitative of Texas Roadhouse and portions are hearty. Folk's tastebuds are more tolerant than others,but I'd stay the food is above the Applebees/TGIF/Olive Garden/Insert Trendy Restaurant Circa 1999 chains. Fish, cow, chicken, veggie; the menu will present you with the options to chose from, aaaaaand the prices are spectacular - 2 can eat for around $20 bucks. But if you asked me, "Me, what's Cheddar's magnet?" I'd have to say Cheddar's magnet is their is the setting and layout of the space. Greenville knows much ado about good tasting food, and even above the great prices it's the atmosphere that wins me over. read more

We tried their version of 'Painkiller' (a drink originally from the British Virgin Islands). It was pretty good except for it won't kill the pain of a diabetic coma. Our family tends to frequent cheddars as it is quite affordable and gives you the experience of a more expensive restaurant. We've always enjoyed our time here since it opened. Recently there has been a drastic drop off in the service provided. For instance, recently we have came here numerous times in the past months and we have had to leave twice because we have sat waiting for a server for over twenty minutes, yet we return due to the value and the taste. Since I moved to the south, I've heard great things about Cheddars. Tried them last night and I must say I was very impressed! The look and feel of the place is very sultry and seductive with low lighting and stylish ceiling fans. The bathrooms were immaculate and the wait staff very friendly and helpful. The food... Omg the food was amazing! I had the baby back ribs mashed potatoes and broccoli with the honey butter croissants... Delicious! We didn't wait long at all and our server checked on us frequently and refilled our glasses ( free refills at that) promptly. I ordered a mixed drink which was huge, but for the size I expected at least a little buzz, especially since More recently I've become more of a social drinker. We were eating our meal when a person had a seizure and hit his head on the floor. Our meal had come fairly quickly and met our expectations. One of our party helped the individual having the medical situation. We were close, but not right at the situation. The manager of the restaurant, to thank our party member, generously gave us our entrees. Jessica was our waitress. Her service was professional and friendly, with specific attention to every detail, and always a kind, helpful, accommodating spirit. This was a superb experience and everything certainly encourages us to revisit Cheddar's! By the way, the staff helped the individual and genuinely cared for the individual's medical situation, while making sure that everyone else was professionally cared for. Things have changed since my last review in 2015. Service has been consistently horrible this year. No plans to ever go back again. Waited for an hour to get a drink. Server lied to me about the type of fish being served, or just plane ignorant. Called for a manager. When she finally came over, she kept talking over us and trying to leave. She did not seem comfortable talking to people. She refused to take anything off the bill for our horrible service. On the way out I asked the hostess if the manager was new. No, she sits at an another table and another waiter takes over. (Still trying to justify the situation in my head, I'm thinking, maybe she's had no breaks all day so the new waiter is taking over for her). After almost 2 hours, we get drink refills and what do you know, someone is bringing a plate of food to our waiter's table -- yes, the same waiter who took our order is now getting a plate of food for her and her entire table (4-5 people perhaps). At that point I decided to walk out and leave. I made it to the front of the house and called a manager. Explained the situation and tried to pay for the drinks and the dip but he said it was okay and that he would be looking into it. He showed empathy but at this point, it's going to be a while before I even attempt to visit this place again. I usually love the ribs here. They are mouthwatering, juicy, and spiced just right. Then something happened. The last few times I have gotten them they have been dry. The last time I had to send them back, and I never send anything back. I asked one of our regular waiters if they were putting the ribs in the microwave.
