I visited for dinner last night for my parents anniversary. Nice atmosphere, we were pleased that we had only a ten minute wait at 7:30 pm on a Friday evening. Our waitress was friendly but seemed very timid and did not seem to be very educated on the menu. I ordered the spagasna (spelling?) which was a lasagna type dish made with spaghetti instead of lasagna noodles. I got the marinara instead of meat sauce. My meal was cold, as was two of the other four meals. Only one of the four meals ordered came out hot. The sauce on my meal was very acidic and pasty. There was at least a cup or more of sauce over my meal. Much too much. The other meals looked wonderful and tasted the same. The waitress failed to check back with us until the meal was over, at which point I told her the meal was good but would have been better with less sauce and served hot. I asked for a take out container to bring the meal home to heat and eat hot. My parents said this restaurant is usually very good and I would think that to be true. I will try this restaurant again. read more

Great food, service and pricing.  Casual to dressy. Parking us abundant. They know customer service here from the time you walk in til you leave. I order a lot of takeout from here which is always good and ready in about ten minutes. My go to is the fried catfish (delicious and massive portion) with broccoli and cheese casserole which is the bomb. Honey crescent rolls are a must have as well. read more

Bad cheap food. This restaurant is Shoney's with a nice interior. You can get a large inexpensive meal with subpar food but who wants that? It defeats the purpose of going out to a sit-down dinner place and having a good meal. read more

I've been to this cheddars once before and was actually not impressed by it the first time. This was a great experience though. We were seated immediately. The food took a while but there were a lot of people. The food was great. I enjoyed the Philly cheesesteak with a broccoli casserole. I've had this broccoli casserole at other locations and cheddars but this one tasted a little bit different it was actually cooked a little better. Our waiter was very attentive and made sure our drinks were filled and that we were taken care of. Our waiter, Hagen, was very respectable and hospitable. Our group had just gotten done with a long day and it was nice to be served well and enjoy the good food and atmosphere. He was very patient and didn't even rush us and we did not realize they had closed awhile ago. This restaurant really resembles the casualness of the casual cafe genre. My only suggestion is to watch the cold temperatures and the smell outside the bathrooms those two things were my reason for loosing the fifth star. Food was very good. Ordered the chips and queso, lunch portion fried chicken and the fish tacos. Our Waiter was friendlu enough and attentive enough. When we ran out of chips for the queso a waiter that wasn't even waiting on us refilled of chips. I want him next time. Our bill was came to $22 and some change. I've been going to Cheddar's ever since it opened, and over the past year it has gone increasingly downhill. Today's experience was TERRIBLE. I'll be brief: 1) Chicken in wrap was grizzly and barely done 2) Tea tasted like it was one week old 3) Ordered apple pie (because my wrap was inedible) and it was DOUGHY. Not done. 4) They apologized and said they'd make us slices to go that were cooked thoroughly, and then had the AUDACITY to give us partially FROZEN slices. 5) Got my money back. Furious. Done. Cheddar's always provides good service for my family when we go. My dad & I went here for dinner tonight. We were seated about a minute after we got there. The hostess was friendly enough. Our waiter arrived & we got our drinks fairly quickly & placed our orders. My meal came with a salad that came first. It was good as was the blue cheese dressing with it. We got our meals fairly quickly. I got the Chicken Pot Pie & it was wonderful. My dad got a triple appetizer & enjoyed his meal. The Wisconsin Cheese Bites are some of the best cheese sticks in town! Then we ordered a Monster Cookie for desert. It takes awhile to get because they make it fresh. We got it after about 10-15 minutes & it was delicious. They also give you plenty of ice cream on top which is a bonus! At times our waiter was a little slow but he was fine overall. The food is excellent though. They gave us a coupon for free Spinach Dip & Chips to celebrate their 20th anniversary. Worth checking out if you're in the area!! read more

I've stopped at this one 3 times now since they opened. Not up to the (low bar) standards of the other two in this area. For whatever reason this place is always busy. Expect to wait to be seated. Also expect a very noisy restaurant. Don't take a date, you'll barely be able to talk over the noise. Very rushed by the wait staff, every time I've been there. They're not tapping their feet and checking their watches in front of you, but pretty close. Meals and appetizers come out about two minutes apart. Food is on the lower end of average, but it is cheap. read more

I LOVE Cheddar's. My best friend and I (both college students on a tight budget) love to meet up here for lunch dates. Super hip and modern atmosphere and a really unique menu. Normally I would expect to spend $12-16 per person at a place like this, but it's more like $8-12 and we still usually have to split a meal because they bring so much food. I have never had a long wait for my order to be brought out. I think maybe one time our food was brought to us and didn't quite meet our expectations, but they took it back and gave us a new entree in no time and handled it really well. The Wisconsin cheese bites are AMAZING! If you dine here, you must try them. I've had the chicken tenders twice and they were horrible both times. How is it even possible to mess up chicken tenders??? Most of the food is good and the portions are more than enough to satisfy two people for the price of one. One thing that bothers me is they don't cater to the customer as much as they should. My friend wanted to substitute one type of bean for another in one of the meals and they told her they could leave off the bean it comes with, but can't add the one she wants. That bothered me. I mean, if it's not premixed and you can leave it off, why can't you just add the other to it? I didn't find that to be customer friendly at all. Service is usually good and fast. One issue I had with my last visit is that the waitress accidentally knocked the straw out of my drink and onto the table and then proceeded to pick it up off the table and put it back into my drink. For one, once it hit the table I needed a new straw, and two, I don't know where you're hands have been. Not cool. At least I was done with my meal and getting the check, so I didn't have to make a big deal out of it. read more

Well I'm new to the South, but I have been to Chedders several times, twice in Knoxville and 2 times in JC TN. The first two times were great the last 2 times not so good. I ate in Knoxville tonight and I will not be back. The food was fine, but the service from the bar was unbelievable, we sit down and order cocktails. Then order dinner 10 mins later, get our salads then finally get our drinks another 10 mins. Later. We only went there because we had $20 in gift card (From our first bad experience) Well it worked we went back but we're done now.. Good Luck Chedders but you better figure out that the Bartender should Not be in charge of take out orders!! read more

The food here is always great! Usually the service as well. I sat in the bar area today and waited on my waiter for fifteen minutes while he was speaking with a co-worker art another table. I asked to transfer stations and received fantastic service from another waitress. Although the booth I was seated in was very very dirty in the walls. read more

Cheddars offers a varied menu, the food tastes fresh and delicious and is reasonably priced. We go there often.

Food was served on a dirty plate, when I complained they took the food and brought it right back on a different plate. The manager said it was not dirty and that it had just brushed up against another plate in the kitchen. Not sure when the customer is right rule went out the door but the manager was very rude and it grossed me out because of the plate. Will not go back. read more

Wish I could leave 0 stars!! My family and I had been regular customers at the Cheddar's West Knox location since they opened several years ago, but around the Fall of 2018 something seriously changed at that location and not for the better. I don't know if the management changed or what but the food is still OK but the service really started to slip. About 4 months ago, we went for dinner and the service was worse than usual. Our waiter took our order and then disappeared for about 30 minutes. During that time our food arrived and we had to ask other servers for condiments, etc. Our waiter finally came back and explained that he "had to help an elderly gentleman to his car". We didn't see any elderly people sitting in his section, but we decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. However, he promptly disappeared again right after this to the point that we again had to get up and hunt down other servers for drink refills, etc. We probably should have asked for a manager, but at this point we just wanted to leave. Our server finally showed up long enough to bring us our bill so we just paid and left, vowing never to return again. However, last night my 9 year old son was really wanting Cheddar's ribs so we decided to give them one more chance. BIG MISTAKE! It was a Thursday night so they really weren't that busy and we were seated right away. We sat there looking over our menus and deciding what we wanted to order, waiting for someone to come take our order. We waited, and waited, and waited but no one ever came to our table. Two waitresses passed by our table several times to wait on other customers around us, but completely ignored us. After 15 minutes my husband tracked down the hostess and told her what was going on. She assured him she would send someone to our table immediately. We waited and waited some more. The same two waitresses kept passing us by without even a glance in our direction, waiting on the tables behind us and even directly across from us. After another 15 minutes had passed we finally got up to leave. We asked to speak to the manager at the hostess station and explained to him exactly what had happened. To his credit, he did apologize and offer to "make things right", but at this point we were too angry and just left. This time we will absolutely NEVER, EVER RETURN!! read more

I've always enjoyed this restaurant, we have been many times, on those occasions, I would likely have given it 4 or even 5 stars. This time was a little different. The queso dip with seasoned ground beef was super tasty as always, the chips were fresh and crispy. My husband ordered a hamburger and It also was really good. Juicy and served on a fresh bun with nice quality produce. I wish I had ordered the burger, but I wanted a club sandwich and since everything else I've had there was good, I decided to give it a try. I was very disappointed. I was not served a club sandwich. A club sandwich is made with three slices of bread and served toasted. This soggy mess, with way to much, cold meat was served on two overly buttered slices of grilled bread. I would never had ordered it, had I know, what I was going to be served. Don't get me wrong. I still like the place, it's a good, clean family restaurant with cool decor. Just don't expect a decent club sandwich. read more

I always make the mistake of coming back to cheddars the food is great! But the servers every time have been terrible. My server tonight was nice but he also had a party of young girls now as a server myself it was maybe 9 to 10 girls and one other table which was mine and he could not handle it. Food was ok. Nothing to brag about. My bloody mary was mostly water. I did ask that it be replaced. When the manager Adam showed up, he was rude and dismissive, stating that it was just fine and that I had already drank some of it. I just said never mind and he left. This was my fourth time at Cheddar's and I have never been disappointed. Service was good especially considering how busy it was. I tried the fried chicken tenders this time and was very surprised at how delicious they were. I absolutely love Cheddar's. I have eaten here about 10 times and been very satisfied every time before, BUT I went tonight with family in from out of town and it was absolutely horrible. We got there around 7:30, so it wasn't "almost quitin' time" and our service was absolutely the worst service I've ever had in a restaurant. It took him around 15 minutes just to get to our table and get our drinks, then he didn't even ask us if we were ready to order! He just said he'd be back to take out order. Well, that took 15 more minutes. Then I guess his "buddies" came in so he stood right beside our table and talked with them for 10 minutes before we got our appetizer, cold. We finally got our food about 45 minutes into our night. During the whole night we only needed about 2-3 extra things (drinks, sauce, etc.) and it took about 10 minutes for him to get each thing, having to ask multiple times. Then, it's about 8:45 and we're just on the edge of our seats trying to get out and a staff person comes in (not working) and is seated right next to us. She is obviously high, drunk, and under 21. The entire time we're waiting for our desserts (which we are now wishing we would've just skipped on) she is getting waited on hand and foot by our server and a few others, being showered with food, alcohol, and love (physically). I think we had better service from the waitress and waiter that weren't ours. Needless to say we were done with it all, 2 hours later. I won't be back again by choice until I hear of a change. Absolutely horrible. The food was actually pretty good, if you could get it. Our server screwed up the drink order to start, which he even wrote down. It wasn't hard, one soda, two teas and 3 waters. Then the three of our six plates came out first, followed ten minutes later by a sandwich. We were then told by the server (who was totally clueless) that the kitchen had screwed up the last plate, a salad. He said it would be out Ina while and he left, at which point another server came right behind him with the salad, with the wrong dressing. While all this was happening other servers tried to give us three other plates that went to other tables. It didn't even end there. The server, I won't name him because hopefully he is fired by now, couldn't figure out that we had four different checks. So, he charged one of the checks with three items, before making sure it was right, so she was just screwed and and people just gave her cash. Granted this was on Father's Day and yes, it was busy, but the staff was completely clueless and our server in particular, was not particularly attentive, didn't seem to care much as to whether we were done correctly and was just in a hurry to get to other tables for whatever reason. Maybe my service dog, which slept the whole time, made him nervous, who knows. What I do know is I will never go there again. read more
