We got to Cheddar's, on Westport, for an early dinner one evening last week and we were seated immediately. That is where the downhill problem began. There were two other couples seated in our area and a third couple was seated just after we were seated. There were three servers in our area as well. The couple that were seated after us got served and received their drinks while we sat there. We waited for 5 minutes without being acknowledged or waited on. My wife and I decided to leave and approached the front desk. We asked for the manager so we could talk with her. She came up and we told her what had just transpired. We were never told who the server was but one of the hosts stated that our server had a very busy section. I looked around and there probably only 10 couples in the entire restaurant and we saw three servers were waiting on one table each. The manager just said she was sorry and didn't do anything else. I told her that this was the second time this has happened during the past three visits to that particular Cheddar's. I stated that we would not be back and that their service was unacceptable. I really like Cheddar's most of the time, so I'm rating them higher for history. I always order the lemon pepper chicken, and it's always good. Today it was off just a bit, but most people would probably love it anyway. Today the chicken was a tad too spicy for our tenderfoot tastes. Because it was very busy, and lunchtime, I'm taking away only one star. We recently had a gift card so off to Cheddar's we went. Although we were seated immediately and our server was extremely friendly and attentive the food was average at best. My fish was just OK and the broccoli with cheeses was mostly bread crumbs. My wife opted for a veggie platter and thought te green beans were rather sweet and also thought the broccoli with cheese was mostly bread crumbs. Personally, I really like Cheddar's. It's very similar to O'Charley's but the chicken tenders and mustard are better at O'Charley's. They do have a lot more options on the menu though. We were going to go to Texas Roadhouse across the street but they were slammed! Almost a 45min wait! Prob cuz the holidays draws a lot of families to eat out. Parking was easy at Cheddars with almost no wait. But there were tons of people waiting when we left. We both got sweet tea. Delicious! I got the country fried chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans. My friend got grilled salmon with baked potato and green beans. Yum! We both enjoyed our meals. Although I still felt hungry. LOL probably because we ate at 4:30 and I don't usually eat until 6 or 7. Service was good. Our server did a great job checking in. Food came out quickly too. Prob cuz the kitchen wasn't busy. The service was great and friendly. She brought the croissant roll and it was hot and buttery. Then she came back with our drinks. Took our order and it arrived in just a few minutes. Everything was perfect as ordered. Baked potato had a big bad place in it and should have been caught when it was cut open and the waitress didn't return until I was finished. I just cut it off and didn't eat it. The Christmas decorations were very nice. But it was chilly inside as usual but I expect that so I came prepared. I enjoyed my visit and will be back! read more

Cheddar's isn't the experience it used to be years ago. I've noticed this despite the location in Louisville. My friends and I came here after seeing a movie at Preston Crossings. Open until 10p, the space was fairly dead at 8:30p. We were seated right away and our drink orders were taken; however, it was almost 15 minutes before we received them. The night continued this way. Another visit to drop off food and I don't remember being checked on again during the visit. In one way, all good. Our server was passive aggressive, which was on display when my friend shared she'd accidentally received a diet soda instead of regular. I ordered a salad with chicken tenders. It was iceberg lettuce and a few tomatoes cut up with three pieces of chicken. It was enough for dinner but you shouldn't seek out Cheddar's on purpose. Payments are completed on a digital screen at the table. It automatically defaults the tip to 25% and you can slide forward or back at your comfort level. read more

I have always found Cheddar's to be consistently good when it comes to their food. They serve classic American fare and boast made from scratch recipes. I enjoyed a pot pie (my favorite item from their menu), however my side salad was forgotten. It seemed our server had too many tables and was running throughout the restaurant trying to take care of everyone. The service wasn't outright bad, but it was not good either. Came to celebrate my daughters 8th grade promotion. As usual, the ambiance was nice. I always love the decor and semi low lights. My waitress was amazing. She was attentive, friendly and interacted with us a lot. I must say it was impressive as the table across from us were giving her a very hard time. I ordered the lemon pepper chicken with broccoli cheese casserole, my partner got the New Orleans Pasta , daughter got ribs and shrimp and son got a kids burger meal. Walked in and asked to sit outside then sat out there for 15 mins while no one came. We ended up leaving.

Had dinner a few nights ago and my past rating of 4 stars goes to 5 for this visit. We had excellent service, didn't have to wait to be seated (we got there before 6 pm) and food was excellent. Our server was kind and very efficient. We ordered a fried chicken wrap and fries and a grilled chicken pecan salad. The waitress brought my fries separately since I told her I wanted hot fries and they were steaming hot. The wrap had 4 large pieces. After we ate those and the croissants that she brought when we were first seated we were full and took the salad home to have for lunch the next day, even day old it we very good. I hadn't been in awhile and decided to eat a super unhealthy country fried steak, mashed potatoes and green beans. The country fried steak was tough, but ok. The sides were delicious. So we hadn't eaten at Cheddar's in well over a year. We'd spent our Sunday at Bernheim Forest & Forest Edge Winery and decided to meet my elderly father in law at Cheddar's for dinner. Our waitress was friendly and took our orders, specifying NO salt or seasoning on my 'lite menu' grilled salmon. I let her know I had a low salt dietary restriction and she assured me it could be grilled and brought with a lemon slice. I also requested my baked potato to come plain with butter & sour cream on the side and plain steamed broccoli. We waited a LONG time for our 3 meals, after repeatedly being assured 'it'll be 3-4 more minutes'. What arrived was salmon coated in seasoning and extra salt, and a way undercooked baked potato with butter & sour cream covering it. Could barely put a fork through it was THAT undercooked. The steamed broccoli was the only thing right.‍ Waitress apologized, assured us she'd written the order correctly but kitchen staff had (obviously!) failed to provide the meal as ordered. She said she'd send the manager by and they'd comp the meal & remake it. While not ideal to miss eating with my husband & father in law (which was why we were there), and also not ideal to need to get my remake meal 'to go', we accepted the effort to make things better. After quite another wait, my meal was brought to go & our check brought. Waitress looked and said she was checking to be sure my meal wasn't being charged & said 'yep, it's taken off, we're sorry'. We thanked her & assured her it wasn't her fault. Then we look at the bill to see that indeed the messed up/remade/supposed to be comped meal was indeed being charged to us. My husband was too fed up to wait longer on a manager but the waitress then did a 'bait n switch' & said "well we didn't charge you for the meal we messed up, but since we remade it the right way for you to take home, we charged for that.' What?!? So, if you dine at Cheddars you seem to have 3 options: (1) order exactly as stated on the menu and forget your health (2) attempt to order easy changes for dietary needs but cross your fingers & hope the kitchen knows what they're doing. If they mess your meal up just eat it despite dietary needs not being accommodated. (3) Let the kitchen have a 'do over' while you sit watching your family eat & aren't yourself able to actually dine in due to time restrictions. Then despite having to take a to go redo order, pay for the meal you couldn't actually eat while there. Unbelievable. I hope corporate sees this review because management & kitchen staff at this location need training in making very basic dietary accommodations and basic customer service. I doubt we will return. I also cannot believe my husband paid for the meal I couldn't even dine in to eat (due to their kitchen staff). read more

The only problem with Cheddars in my opinion is that there aren't enough of them. So whenever we find one on our route, we try to stop for lunch. Everything we have tried at various Cheddars has been delicious and we like their philosophy of scratch-made food, reasonable prices, and excellent service. We also like that they offer lunch and dinner portions and prices on many items. This location was right off of the Interstate and we arrived right around noon. The parking lot was quite full and there were some people sitting in the entry as we walked in, but we were seated immediately. My wife decided to order the Grilled Lemon Pepper Whitefish dinner portion with Rice, Broccoli, and Corn. I ordered Classic Combo 1/2 Club Sandwich and a Bowl of Potato Soup. Our server, Maurice, took care to get our orders in and filled quickly. Scratch made food, great service, and reasonable prices...oh, and the fish tank! As usual, everything was delicious! Cheddar's!! This place to me is just a good family kind of restaurant. There isn't much that is over 11.00 for a meal so aside from the atmosphere, the quality and prices make the experience equally enjoyable. Paddle wheel fans in the middle of the restaurant for some reason gives a relaxed ambiance to the large sitting area. Tables always cleaned up nicely. Bathrooms too! Even with a completely full restaurant, it doesn't seem noisy. The staff are very nice and the food has always been quick and on point. This time, (although my first review- not my first visit), I gave it 4 stars because the waitress just wasn't on her A game. Perhaps I should have just given a 5. I'll change it next time as I'm sure they'll deserve the full 5. If you want a place to take your family where you might feel like it's dinner at home and not going to break the budget, check them out! We chose this place for dinner, I thought I'd been to this location before but apparently not but oh well we are here now. We were seated rather quickly. After looking over the menu, I decided to go with an old favorite; The Country Fried Steak with loaded baked potato and green beans. The food came out and it was good and fresh. The green beans were ok, not the best. The country fried steak was good I was slightly disappointed that the gravy was white I was told that it would be brown but oh well. Overall the food was good and filling, what I do wish is that they gave the croissants out like some of the other restaurants do with their rolls. I know this will not happen but one can wish right. The food, however, was lackluster and that was disappointing. I ordered a 6oz sirloin and while it was cooked the way I liked, it lacked seasoning. It was one of the blandest steaks I've had.
