There's very little to say about Sway - it was a typical hotel buffet with eggs, sausage gravy and biscuits, fruit, and more. Particularly if you have Hyatt benefits, it's a good place to get a quick breakfast before exploring town - but if I were local, I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to eat breakfast here! I did appreciate that you could special order an omelet from the chef - which one of my friends did. read more

Absolutely terrible customer service! I saw this place closed for breakfast at 1030, so I came down (staying at the Hyatt) at 950am. The host sat me down in what ended up being someone else's table even though there were only 4 other people here and 12+ open tables. The only thing they would allow me to get was the buffet because they said the kitchen was closed for orders (mind you, this is at least 35 minutes before breakfast ends). I asked for a coffee and went up to get my food, and when I got back the check was already waiting for me, as if they were trying to push me out of the door. The buffet was VERY basic, and was still missing multiple food items. The food that I did get was obviously from much earlier in the morning and was pretty bad. I choked it down and left. I would NOT recommend this place for breakfast, it was a terrible experience. The staff here was cold, rude and obviously didn't want to be there. read more

Went here for breakfast this morning. While they had breakfast options on their main menu, we were told we could only have the breakfast buffet. Okay, we'll give it a shot even though it was pricey. Like many breakfast buffet's, the food was average. However, my friend's omelet was undercooked. But here's the real reason for my review - I'm from Texas and we take our biscuits and gravy seriously. This was the worst I've had. The biscuit fell apart but more importantly, the gravy was horrible - thin, runny, terrible taste, and had a smell to it. Used up my mouthwash to get that gravy taste out of my mouth! read more

After 35 min of waiting for a shrimp and grits dish around 3pm, it didn't have the andouille sausage or okra, like the menu said. (And I'm the opposite of a complainer, don't get me wrong. And I respect everyone and their employment.) I casually asked to look at the menu again (after I was served). Before the waitress handed me the menu, she said that they'd run out of andouille yesterday (so she already knew), and she said the okra was a misprint on the menu. Not recommended unless you are only going for a drink. As we walked down street, we saw this and looked to see what menu showed on-line. It showed something's that we were like okay let's try it. We sat inside and it was nicely decorated. They do have outside seating that is shaded by buildings in the evening, It also connects directly to the lobby of the Hyatt Regency. First miss was the menu they gave us and the menu on-line did not match. I asked waiter and he did not have a great answer. The drink menu was good size but slightly overpriced on Bourbons. We ordered jalapeño cornbread, wedge salad and brisket burnt ends sandwich with fries. The cornbread was about three inches tall and very dry. The wedge salad was supposed to have blistered tomatoes and dry ham. The tomatoes looked rotten. If they were blistered you think that they would have some black on them but they did not. The dry ham was chewy so not dry. Now for the sandwich, I smoke meat at home for a reference. The brisket burnt ends were tough. These should have been tender. The food was sub par for sure. The waiter was not very good. After we told about the food, he didn't really say or do anything. We had to take him our payment. He didn't not ring right away and walked off to an area that was not being used with our card. We had to go find him to ring up our transaction, very concerning. The manager did finally come over and told us they took off two of the items. We already knew that as we were in process of paying. He didn't apologize but also made it out that we just didn't like their interpretation of the food. The redemption was when we were leaving, another customer was complaining to the same manager about their food. It was a completely different dish. Again not recommending for food. read more

Spent the day before I was flying out of SDF here at the Hyatt Regency and when I went to the place that I had planned to have dinner and they were out of what I had planned to order so Sway was my Plan B. I had inspected the menu and figured I could make do and that was primarily what the meal was, a make do meal. In my opinion this is primarily a bourbon bar that serves food as an afterthought. Their bourbon list was quite impressive but if it had a failing, it was that they didn't have some of the newer offerings. Great bottles open that you can order a wonderful bourbon to try, that you can't find other places. I had the hush puppies and they were the stars of the evening. I also ordered the Kentucky charcuterie board and it was tasty but nothing outstanding. I ordered the spicy shrimp n grits as my main and it was nice but not anything to get excited about, Sway really hasn't changed their menu in years and it shows. Breakfast was off the menu on our first day, and not all items on the limited menu were available. The second day, only a lackluster buffet was offered with mostly breads, biscuits, and muffins available. Scrambled eggs, potatoes, and meat. Zero fruit was available and only grits but no oatmeal. My wife ate, but I didn't bother. Dinner was okay, but nothing special. Red velvet cake was a highlight. Bar has an outstanding selection of bourbons. Good cocktails, as well. This is a nice spot to try if you're looking for a place near 4th Street that isn't a cheesy tourist destination. I have to admit, with the mediocre reviews I had pretty low expectations for this place, and our main reason for coming here was due to the walking distance of the event venue we were attending. I made reservations through OpenTable, however even for a Saturday night this place does not seem to get too busy, so you can probably walk in with no problem. The service was average and slow, and we did see the table across from us scoff at their waiter for the long drink wait, but on our end it wasn't too bad. I also wasn't a fan of the cocktail I ordered, the 'Just Peachy,' it was not made well so I ended up trading with my husband and really enjoying his beer.. lol. The food was the best part! I tried the salmon and really enjoyed it. Sway is alright, definitely not somewhere I would go out of my way for, but it's a hotel bar - Convenience is one of the biggest factors here, but like I mentioned, the food is also really good, too. THIS IS NOT ABOUT THE FOOD, because quite shockingly we weren't able to eat there. We went there for a late dinner the night after Derby, basically because everything else was closed. We arrived ten minutes before the kitchen closed, and the host alerted us that we'd have to order quickly before they packed out. We did so, seated at the bar, and my tablemate ordered fried chicken. After putting our order in, he came back out about two minutes later and said that the fried chicken takes about thirty minutes, so confirmed we wanted it. But my friend definitely did, so we figured we both had salads and would eat them and the time would pass swiftly enough before the 30 minute delay of main course arrival. Less than five minutes later, he comes back and says "I hate to inform you of this, but the kitchen has closed and the cooks have already packed up and are leaving." By then, it was nearly ten thirty, and even Wendy's, Chipotle and McDonald's were closed. I totally get that the staff abides by a closing time, but to tell us that we still had ten minutes, to seat us, to take our order, to put it in to the system, to come back and tell us about a preparation time, and THEN to say "Sorry. We're not gonna serve you" SUCKS and is unacceptable and indefensible. We ended up goingall the way across town to a LOVELY little joint called Ramsi's, which was gracious and hospitable, and while the food wasn't spectacular we were so hungry we didn't care and the staff THERE was PHENOMENAL. The one time I was here was while I was on business. I had decided to stay in the hotel and eat at "Sway". The menu is simple with appetizers, sandwiches and a smaller list of dinner entrees. I decided on the version of surf and turf - a filet and shrimp skewer. The food isn't bad and the service is decent. Four of us visited Sway for dinner before a concert at YUM Center. It was within walking distance and I was able to make a reservation via Open Table. It was very crowded but they eventually came to seat us. The service was extremely slow but eventually we got cocktails and a KY sampler platter similar to a charcuterie board. It was really good. We each got a different meal, Fried Chicken, Shrimp n Grits, Sway Burger and Bourbon Sesame Salmon. The salmon is what I ordered and it was delicious! This place didn't break the bank at $64 for the two of us. I would recommend for the food, convenience and great bar. read more

So the first night that we went here the seating area was not very full but our server seemed extremely overwhelmed. We ordered a round of drinks and a meat and cheese board. It took over 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive. When they finally got there they were watered down and not anywhere near filled to the top which is annoying. We never could get the server back around to pay our bill because we could not fathom staying there. Finally we chased around two different bussers who found our server and brought us our check. Night to no one had ambition to leave the hotel so we wound up at sway again. We sat down and waited close to 30 minutes for someone to come and help us. We ordered our drinks and she asked if we were ready for her food. When one of us hesitated she instantly said "I'll be back when you're ready" and I was like "nooooooooo" thinking she might never return. We finally got ordered and it took eons for our food and drinks. When our drinks came once again they were watery and the sodas were flat. I specifically asked for a fresh soda and nothing happening on that front. When we got our food it looked OK. Nothing great but not bad except for one dish. One of my dinner mates got the "fried chicken". It didn't look fried. It looked like chicken that had been left out in the sun? It was like thin and dry and a funny color. When we got to looking at it it had little to no meat and it still had feathers I approached a manager with it because our server hadn't been back for 5-6 minutes at that point. And they said they would make a new plate but it would take 20 minutes. So the rest of us and we waited. We tried on several occasions to ask the people that we saw around like runners and busters to purchase a drink or to find our server. But no one would. We even got a couple of blatant "no"s from the staff. Eventually I saw her walking around so I went and grabbed her to get us another round. Our next round was incorrect also still flat and not full Finally our chicken dish came out again. It was much improved. There was actually meat on the bones so that was nice and the potatoes and gravy it came with were actually delicious. The other food that we got was a Caesar salad which could've use some more dressing that was chopped nicely, the shrimp and grits which had decent flavor with a lot of heat at the end but way too much sauce, some burgers which the guy said we're good. Neither one of them ate the whole thing, a steak which looked OK but the eater only ate about a quarter of it and finally a baked goat cheese with pimento. Now normally I would say that sounds terrible but it was actually tasty because the goat cheese was more prominent than the taste of pimento. So it was like an orange goat cheese. Although for the cost the amount that was there was very small and they do like toasted baguette which is extremely crunchy and crumbly The food and beverage gentleman knew about our unhappiness when he came by to ask how her day was. I did mention that the service had been terrible both days and he brought us a round of drinks which I thought was nice. He was also the one that fixed our chicken. Overall the food was OK but the service was horrific and I would much rather have walked outside to chipotle because at least they're friendly and attentive. read more

Restaurant is self described as "farm to fork" and I'm not exaggerating when I say I think they microwaved it all. Ordered eggs over medium and they were the consistency of a hard boiled egg. The bacon was so dry and tough. I have never seen bacon like this. It was yellow. Waffles tasted like toaster waffles. I wasn't expecting fine dining but McDonalds is better. Sway, located inside the Hyatt Regency downtown, is a great spot to meet for drinks but is hit or miss with food. I'm still a huge fan of their breakfast, especially the buffet, but at $25 pp, it's a lot for most to pay. The service in the restaurant portion is also top notch and this is the type of service I've come to expect from the Hyatt. Last week I reserved space for approx 20 co-workers for dinner. The team was prepared for us and had tables set up. I also appreciated the menu wasn't limited. For a large party it did take awhile to get our dinners but this should be expected. Until then the team brought out appetizers and ensured people got their drinks. Some dishes looked great, some not as much. It truly varied. Prices at Sway are higher so this means bringing it every single dish and they miss the mark. For example, I got a salad that was fresh, light and had plenty of beautiful fruit but my beer cheese with pork rinds was terrible. One bite and I sent the rest away. The cheese was equivalent to melted Velveeta, not crafted beer cheese. Overall, I recommend Sway for drinks but if you're planning a meal, head elsewhere or grab a quick (and much cheaper) snack at the Starbucks. read more

We recently found this restaurant while looking for a late dinner location. Though it is located in the Hyatt lobby it also has an outside entrance from a patio. They are unable to serve food on the patio but have large windows that open so we were just as happy. The bourbon selection is fantastic, so many options and wonderful prices. We ordered a few of their signature cocktails and were not disappointed, highly recommend the old fashioned. As for the food, we had the Kentucky Brown and the fried chicken. Both were huge portions and delicious. The service here is absolutely amazing. We ended up stopping by another night to have a drink at the bar because we enjoyed it so much. Shrimp and grits is my favorite meal. I've had it all over Louisville and all over the country. Everyone has their own take on it - each normally good in their own right. But Sway. Oh Sway. Best in Louisville - no competition. The shrimp and grits here are nearly identical to my favorite at a restaurant in Savannah. Probably why I love them so much. The meal comes in a deep ceramic bowl with a lid. The grits are creamy and flavorful. The shrimp were small but great texture. The dish included peppers and andouille sausage. And it was all topped with a beautiful, spicy Cajun cream sauce. It really doesn't get much better. The service at Sway was good. The servers anticipated empty water glasses and boxes with ease. The place was dead on a Sunday night. Our food was a little slow to come out given that we were one of two tables in the place - but it was worth the wait. My mom got the Cobb salad and it looked amazing. She was really pleased with the house dressing. We had the fried green tomato appetizer. It came with a mustard sauce. I would've liked it on the side because it made the crust of the tomato a little soggy. They also give you tiny biscuits and corn bread muffins. Both were fine and the honey butter was deliciously sweet. A great experience and I'm already planning my next trip back. read more

Couldn't give this place less than 4 or 5 stars. It was fantastic! Had an impromptu lunch with a group of 6 after some museum stops, and the place was packed. We were drawn in by its decor, full open wall, nice music - and reasonably​ priced menu. It's located just on the side of the Hyatt hotel. We sat at a high top in the middle of the restaurant, which was quite small. Despite the lack of tables, our service was sloooow. Our waiter clearly had too many things on his mind to cater to our "can we have a packet of sugar please?", but we didn't mind too much. The food was too good to even care... We ordered a round of apps: fried green tomatoes + crawfish hush puppies. FANTASTIC. It gets even better: Shrimp and Grits, KY Cobb Salad, Chicken Fritter Sandwich with pimento cheese and chow​, and a huge Bluegrass Burger. Everything we ordered was fantastic. A few of us split our orders to try everything, and the staff was so accommodating; pre-cut sandwiches, extra spoons, bowls, and plates. The food was exceptional and left us feeling very satisfied. For the price per person and the atmosphere this place did not disappoint. Located in the Hyatt downtown, they served a buffet style thanksgiving menu that was well seasoned and flavorful. The carving station included Turkey, roast beef and chicken. The pumpkin filled ravioli was surprisingly good. The desserts were nothing to write home about but did satisfy the sweet tooth. I came in during the 502 Foodie Lunch Week because the menu looked pretty good and they were one of the few places with a fish option. I met fellow Yelp Elite Christopher S for lunch. I already knew what I wanted to order. As my appetizer I got the fried green tomato. Yes....singular. Tomato. One slice of fried green tomato. I realize this was special for the Foodie Lunch Week....but I felt a little cheated. I got the catfish po'boy for my meal and it was pretty tasty! Nice and crispy and not too heavy on the breading. Stopped by after a amazing dinner at Brazilian steak to have a couple of drinks with my wife. About 35 people in their and went to the end the bar waiting to be seated, and the bartender Chris started to yell at us. you can't sit their, mind you we where still standing. Did not try to sit down, Cynthia the banquet manager said" he's been like that all day"! I told him we were not trying to sit at the bar! Ms Kary approached us and said " I will take care of you'll! Chris yell at her "someone is sitting there " ! She took us to our normal dinning spot! Took our order and we continue the evening! Kary was excellent ! My issue is with an employee who yells at customer, no how may I help you,someone with be with you , welcome to Sway! Because he was having a bad day, doesn't mean he can take it out on us! We stop by their 2 to three times a week with friends and never have been treated this Way! This was so unprofessional and needs to be addressed! Since we stayed at the Hyatt, we ate at Sway every morning at the breakfast buffet. The staff was really nice to accommodate me with to-go boxes and let me take it back to the room. It's a large buffet with several options, mostly healthy but also some southern comfort foods like sausage, biscuits and gravy. I stuck to the healthier egg white scramble with onions and spinach, the occasional bagel, yogurt parfaits, fresh fruit, orange juice and coffee. It was all good. We also had room service which was prepared by Sway as well, we ordered steak and shrimp dinners, with a couple Bourbon Barrel Ales on draft to the room. Very nice. Everything I had at Sway was delicious and all conveniently located inside the Hyatt. read more

I hate to give this venue four stars but it will have to do... And it is not regarding the food or the drinks but the service. We walked in sporting our Cards gear and empty bellies. The bartender looked at us as if we were crazy and told us to pick a seat. When going to grab a seat she ran over hurrying us along to another room... Only to throw a hissy fit, Yes... A HISSY FIT. She was screaming that she couldn't believe it and that it was everywhere and this and that... I felt like I was in a bad movie and felt even more awkward as the tables dressed in suits and formal dresses stared at us as if we were scum. We had tracked in some water because it was snowing like crazy outside! I can understand wanting to clean it for your customers but to make the customers feel bad and uncomfortable is another thing. Well I ran to the bathroom to have a bit of a cry. It was the first day of my mental cycle but the hatred this lady had towards me especially was ridiculous. Oh, I also tracked water throughout to the bathroom which she was not happy about. But hey, a girls gotta cry! I can understand being in a nice hotel with flow that people can slip on when snowing... But again... When you make the paying customer feel like it's their fault, that's when we have an issue. I sucked it up and came back to the table ready for a fresh start. I wish I could say we had just that... But we didn't. I asked her a question regarding the drink and I'm guessing she didn't take it as a question because she turned away and came back a few minutes later. I then asked her the same question and she wasn't paying attention and was talking about strawberries... I allowed her to finish and explained I was asking about the watermelon fizz and of course she replied with we do not have that. She seemed frustrated that I didn't know what I wanted immediately after learning they did not have the ingredients for the drink I wanted. So I picked a random drink. I should have help my ground and tKen the time to order a drink. My toasted almond was wayyyyyyy to sweet. But it was tasty for the one sip I had! We ordered the fried green tomatoes to split as an appetizer and were impressed by them. The biscuits, cornbread, and sweet butter was our favorite. We normally do not enjoy bread as much as we did at Sway... But it was worth it. I went with the chicken and waffles while Andrew went with the southern chicken, greens, and potatoes. While our food was fantastic... Our server left us feeling judged and awkward. Maybe she had been stiffed by a uofl fan before with blonde hair. Who knows?! During our visit to Louisville, our best meal was at Sway. This restaurant is located on the bottom floor of the Hyatt. There is a good amount of tables with seating along with an extended bartop. Spicy Shrimp & Grits ($20.00): Followed the insight of fellow yelpers and decided on this dish. Holy Moly!! This dish was the highlight of our many entrees throughout our entire stay in Louisvillle. I am not much of a grits person. Repeat, I am not a grits person or fan, but the Sway kick got it right! The grits contain shrimp, sausage and some veggies. This perfect combo was super flavorful. There's a nice kick to the dish, but not too spicy. Pretty manageable for even those that don't like spice. To add to it, the size of the dish is pretty generous and the shrimps were large and plentiful. Southern Fried Chicken ($24.00): The fried chicken was perfectly crisp and the inside portion was tasty and buttery. The chicken was moist. White meat is almost always dry...not the case at Sway. The chicken was moist all around. No sauce needed at all... We were super pleased with our dish selections. Yelp did us right... Staff was super friendly and service was fast and efficient. A little hidden gem for a hotel restaurant. The pimento cheese dip is too die for and the Sway dry rub on the wings will make your mouth water and no dipping sauce is needed as they are best eaten by themselves. The shrimp and grits are fantastic with lots of shrimp, andouille sausage with grits cooked as any southern person would inspire to cook for themselves. The Kentucky Brown will give you a heart attack and you will likely die happy. The wait staff is very attentive to all your needs. You don't have to wait for your water glass to be refreshed.
