Was patient when we waited for another guest to arrive. And knowledgeable when I mentioned my food allergy. He notified the kitchen on my allergy and had them remove allergen items, they were willing to work with me and create another dish if I wasn't satisfied with the original recipe minus Butter/ Milk. the food STILL came out fantastic and will definitely try again in the future. The atmosphere at this time was busy especially for a weekday morning, some moments were quiet and definitely an environment for families, Buisness or casual experience!

The salted caramel brew was good and refreshing--smooth, not overly sweet, and easy to enjoy. The fried chicken BLT, on the other hand, was dry... RGV-weather dry. The chicken itself was good and well cooked, but the sandwich really needed more sauce to bring everything together. With a little extra love in that bun, it could be solid. I do want to give credit where it's due: the girl who served me was very friendly and welcoming, even close to closing time. Thank you for the great service. Overall, mixed experience ‍ great drink and kind service, but the sandwich could use some improvement. I'm sure I'll be back

Cowboy Chicken - Brisket and chicken as well as beans and rice, with a moist bread roll (instead of wimpy sliced bread) - all very tasty and filling.

I have been to McAllen TX ... and have even eaten there (2 of 2)…read more I saw that many reviewers are awarding Cowboy Chicken 5 stars. I was going to go with 4 stars, but then thought about it ... they did everything right. I happened to be in this general area, while visiting the famous main branch of the McAllen Public Library, which holds the record for being the largest library on one level in either the U.S., North America, or the world. Dinnertime was approaching and a barbecue place sounded just like what I needed. Cowboy Chicken is in a strip mall close enough to the library. Parking is easy and, once inside, you go through a short line to order what you want to eat, with some people eating in and others taking out. I do like to eat this regional barbeque food on occasion, and it's something I do at least once every time I'm in the Houston metro area. I always go for the 2 item combination platter. However, in the Houston area, I don't seem to land on places that offer both brisket and boneless chicken. So, in Houston, I get brisket and turkey ... and I'm still a happy camper. At this Cowboy Chicken, I asked if I could get chicken as one of the 2 meats and if it could be (a) boneless piece(s). The young lady helping me said that I could and was very helpful. I took my tray to the simple but airy eating area and started to dig in. Everything, including the sides, was delicious. The chicken and the brisket were very much to my liking. I'm not being a big baby by always asking for boneless stuff, but who wants to mess with bones and scales when eating outside of their home or at a backyard event? I wanted to add that the portion size was satisfying and that the pricing was appropriate. This "main" Cowboy Chicken has a lot of good things going for it - the food, the service, the portions, the value, and, above all, what I perceived to be a strong focus on the customer. So there you have it. If visiting the impressive main branch of the McAllen Public Library and get hungry, you might stop by Cowboy Chicken for a meal. How does that sound for a field trip?

The place is very busy, but despite that the wait was only 10 minutes at 10:00 am on a Saturday. The hostess and our server were both very friendly. The place advertises that it specializes in home cooked comfort foods so we figured we'd have to see how their biscuits and gravy were. We ordered a 1/2 order and it came with a biscuit split in half and covered with gravy and sausage. The flavor was perfect - it definitely lived up to 'home cooked comfort food'. I ordered an omelette - three cheeses, sausage, bacon and ham with onions, cilantro and jalapeños - which came with refried (black) beans. The omelette was very good - flavorful and fresh. They actually use slices of cheese inside and on top - I've never had an omelette prepared that way but it was very good. When I first tasted the salsa I was not a fan - it was warm and had a different flavor - then I put it on the omelette and - great pairing and great flavor combo. The refried black beans were sadly underwhelming - no real flavor. I know they were homemade but they were missing the flavor that usually comes with refried beans (black or pinto) My wife had the quiche which had onions, peppers, sausage, mushrooms and cheese. It was very good. Even the crust was good. She ordered the breakfast potatoes as the side. The flavor of the potatoes was excellent. Half of them were lightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside which were great; the other half were overcooked and became potato chips - good flavor but not a breakfast potato. We will definitely come back to try their lunch food and dessert (we were too full today). They have a good variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner items on the menu so there is something for everyone. We were glad we stopped in.

The owner/operators are very personable and kind people as well. The staff are attentive and take great care of you. Food comes out promptly and in my 3 visits, precisely as ordered. I don't believe I've ever felt more welcomed into a restaurant than here. Seriously this is what other restaurants should strive to deliver. Fantastic food, great environment to eat in and welcoming staff. Breakfast: both the works omelet and migas were great (especially with the added salsa). 1000% get the fruit. The dip they provide is of similar idea to that which Jason's deli gives. With the primary difference that this one makes Jason's seem entirely inadequate. Lunch: The chicken Parmesan is an excellent choice, I got pasta instead of potatoes. It was a very healthy portion and filled me up. Even the veggies it comes with are properly seasoned and cooked. The tea is wonderful, they do offer flavored teas but I did not try that. TLDR: great establishment, give them a try.

The whole time we were there folks kept coming in! We tried the bacon egg and cheese biscuit. The sandwich was huge! The biscuit was buttery and flaky and very good - it was a 'different' flavor than 'traditional' biscuits - but it was great! We shared an order of biscuits and gravy. It was very good - again, a different flavor than any I've ever had - but again, really really good. It almost had a chicken fried chicken flavor to the gravy - whatever it was - very good. We shared a side of black refried beans. Honestly, I don't think I've ever had black refried beans - refried pinto beans all the time but not black refried. These did not disappoint - they had the definite homemade flavor of truly great refried beans - I would eat these again for sure. I had the ribeye burrito which came with medium rare strips of ribeye; strips of avocado; cheese; potatoes; and refried black beans. I don't like sour cream so I left that off. The burrito itself was grilled which added to it. The salsa was good and had a good balance of heat. Another win. One of our group had the oatmeal with blueberries and strawberries due to dietary restrictions. It was also very good - which was surprising for oatmeal. The oatmeal itself was baked, which is also rarely done. We would definitely come back when we ate in town next time. Different flavors than the 'norm' and all of them very good. Do yourself a favor and check this place out - you'll be glad you did!

Their rotisserie chicken is tasty, juicy and well seasoned. Their sides are authentic and delicious. Mostly, I love that they have Peruvian staples such as chicha morada (a purple pineapple drink that is spiced with clove and cinnamon which gets it's distinct color from dried purple corn), and Maracuyá (passion fruit). The service was friendly and you can tell that they care about what they're making. The cook came out to greet us and to make sure we were enjoying the food. The ambiance was relaxed and cozy. I would have given Brasa 5 stars except for one tiny thing: they don't serve Picarones, a delicious and crispy dessert made with sweet potatoes and pumpkin that is traditionally Peruvian. I did ask about it and the cook said he will definitely add it to the menu in the coming weeks. When that day comes, you know I'll be first in line. We need more variety in the valley and Brasas is bringing it!
