It was our first time here. Our waiter was extremely kind. The manager came and greeted us and gave my two kids cookies since it was our first time at Cheddar's. That was very kind of her. I was going to order a side salad with my pasta dish but our waiter informed me the portion was big. I'm so glad he did. My family order 4 different dishes and they were all good and the portions are big and prices is very reasonable. read more

Arrived about 1145 and was promptly greeted at seated by hostesses. Then WE SAT and watched many, many, many servers walk past us. We had menus and no drinks. Not one person stopped and asked if we needed something. I saw one of the hostesses and called her over. I asked about a server??? She DID NOT apologize but explained that the other hostess was new and sat us at the wrong table, in a section that was closed. Across the aisle and one booth down was full of people and they had plenty of service. We asked for the manager. Immediately a server came to our table and began to help us. She was kind, knowledgeable, friendly, and fast. The manager came to our table after our order was taken. He said something like: Hey folks we made a mistake and I'd like to offer you a free appetizer. We declined and waited for some sort of explanation that never came. The manager delivered our main food and made sure it was cooked to our specifications. A little while later the manager brought a small bag with cookies to our table. He said, "Fresh baked cookies for all of our first time guest." Right, that was a please don't post this on yelp bribe! Too bad it didn't work. And NO, he didn't take anything off the check. I've been in the restaurant business, grew up with waitresses and the people who work at Cheddars are on their own program. They walk slow and shuffle their feet as they walk. There is no rush about anything!! And obviously have no sense of Cheddar's vision or business and certainly no teamwork. The business is there to serve customers, if the employees don't understand customer service then the business will close and they won't have a job. Food was good! read more

I have been to Cheddar's several different times throughout the past few years. Upon the very first time I visited this restaurant I was impressed with the overall atmosphere of the restaurant, cleanliness, friendliness of staff, taste, and last but not least the variety of food this place has to offer at such a great price. However my visit on this past Mother's Day superseded it all to where I WILL NOT BE RETURNING because my service was so horrible!! After waiting almost an hour to be seated wasn't an issue because it's what we expected being a major holiday. However, the problems arises once my party and I (2) besides myself were seated. Waitress appeared to be nice and somewhat knowledgeable of the menu. She proceeded to take our 3 separate orders, I specifically asked about the speciality lemonade/tea ordering a strawberry lemonade and another person in my party ordered a margarita. Almost 30 mins later by this time we have received our food which btw 2/3 entrees were cold and had to be sent back and I also received a water with my order 15 mins before. I began to ask the waitress was the water "complimentary" because I hadn't received my lemonade yet? She responded "yes". Minutes later goes by I inform the manager that there was a 30 min wait before I got my drink which btw never happened before, could the drink be taken off of the bill? The manager responds with a very nasty and unconcerned demeanor there was no apology for the wait at all! Instead Mr. Brent response was "Either I want the drink and if I drink out of it I'll be charged, if not I can just send it back" Not to mention by this time she had still been waiting on her margarita after about 30-35 mins or so as well! There was no apology also. Instead, he carded her and it took another 10 mins for it to come out to her! Idc how busy this place was or if the waitress was new this was absolutely no exception to provide awful customer service to your guest! There are several of restaurants nearby and CHOOSING to come to CHEDDARS was a very careful choice so I thought but the manager high level of absolutely no INTEREST or ATTEMPT to meet customer needs by even starting with offering an apology is a no-no for me! I don't care how great the prices are or how great the selection of the menu is, if I cannot be treated as a valued customer, I will not be giving my business here!! Atmosphere is nice and wait staff is friendly however the food not so much. We ordered drinks that were poorly made and super weak almost if they had no alcohol in them at all. The spinach dip came out and it tasted like someone took cream spinach and melted cheese with it. I ordered the steak and shrimp with the steak medium well and when it came out there was still blood at the top of it and it was all pink inside. The best part is that the server took the bloody steak off my plate in front me while the blood had already soaked through my other items on my plate and brought back the same steak after I had already cut into it with my fork that had been in my mouth. Nothing was replaced on my main plate and when I asked for a manager he acted like this was normal with no apologies. It gets better... They still ended up charging us for that portion of the meal even though it sat in untouched on the table. I wouldn't recommend anyone to that place. read more

The first time I visited this place, the silverware was used before I even touched it!!!! As disgusted as I was, I thought it might have been a simple mistake and I directed it to the worker's attention and they fixed it. The second time I went to this place, the country fried chicken my boyfriend ordered was pink and there was blood coming out of it... It was disgusting and my boyfriend got sick after eating it. The waitress was very polite and offered him another meal on the menu, when he got his meal, he couldn't even eat because he was so sick. And we had to pay for the meal he didn't even touch. I am disappointed in this place and will never be back. :( read more

My experience there on the 18th of May doesn't even deserve a star. As appetizers we ordered onion rings and a cup of baked potato soup. We got the onion rings along with the grease they were cooked in. 2 people ordered the ribs with shrimp steamed broccoli and baked potato. Both meals were not even warm. The shrimp was put in a bowl with a little rice. 1 person didn't care he ate it anyway. I ordered the steak, medium rare and grilled shrimp with a baked potato and corn on the cob. My steak was blue, meaning raw the corn on the cob was can corn on the plate and of course the shrimp in a little bowl. I told the waitress the steak wasn't cooked and my potato was cold and I ordered corn on the cob. They don't have corn on the cob anymore she put my potato on a plate to take the steak back to cook it. Notice now I still haven't received my cup of soup so I asked another waitress to see the manager. He was useless in my opinion. The other person didn't want to send her plate back because she was afraid they would mess up the only thing on her plate that was right ( the ribs ). I showed him my meal I ordered and you guessed it, all I had in front of me was a tiny baked potato. I also mentioned the infamous cup of soup. He assured the other person her ribs would be fine, they were but the broccoli was almost soup and the baked potato hard on the ends. I still at this time only had the potato, so I said just box my meal cancel the soup I am done. I also told the manager my review would not be a good one, he said "okay, I am sorry to hear that" and left. He came back with a BOWL of soup. I then told him I lived in Slidell and have ate there on other occasions and we eat out often but Cheddars will be off the list for a long time. I got the bill comped my meal and charged me for a BOWL of soup. After my experience Monday night I recommend to you if they don't have a lot of customers don't go. read more

My stepdaughter said it was good so we stopped in the way home from a trip. Seating was quick, servers ok. Food was not worth what I paid. Timing was good, apps were ok. Spinach dip with chips, they forgot the sour cream they offered. A guy brought it out after we commented on it, dropped it on the table turned and walked away, so rude! I mainly comment on food because I understand people are people! Anyway, step-d requested NO buffalo sauce in wraps, and u guessed it, they put it on. My chicken strips were cooler than room temperature, very disgusted by that, couldn't eat them. Requested ranch and received honey mustard. Fries were COLD, wth? No excuse for cold food. Ordered a strawberry lemonade, was very bitter, and the waitress agreed and said, "yeah, I know it's like that!" Asked for a coke instead and asked if i would be charged for lemonade she said NO, but of course I was! Two boys got burgers , hard to mess that up! Overall not happy at all on my first visit , I will NOT be back, food was bland and average! read more

I went to Cheddar's Slidell on Wednesday May 7 and was not impressed. I visited the one in Columbus, GA at least a few times a month and there is no comparison. I know the location is new but not the restaurant chain. The staff is inexperienced and so is management and kitchen staff. I can't believe to add 6 shrimp to a salad is $3.99 if you decide you dont want the chicken. In the end I took the chicken home since I was already being charged for something I was not going to eat. No one came to check on me to see how everything was and I was sitting at the bar so I was cleary visible. Then I decided to go today to see if today would be a better day. I ordered a to go for my coworkers and myself and again not impressed. I ordered the salmon with 2 sides. Well in the togo box there was no rice and it was supposed to come with rice and to top it off they did not place a lid on the sauce and sauce was everywhere on the sides and in the bad. Then the bowl of soup was not a bowl, they actually gave me a cup and I had to complain that the kitchen staff did not give me what I ordered. Needless to say the waitress should have realized that what she was giving me was a cup instead of the bowl I paid for. The lady I was sitting next to said she never experienced this kind of service from other Cheddar's and reported her son said he would never return. In a place where local food is amazing when people in this area venture out and try to support a chain at least you could do is the bare minmum is customer service and knowing your menu. read more

My wife and I went to this Cheddar's for the first time today. The place was attractive and the food was about average for what you expect at a large medium priced chain restaurant. My only problem with it was our server, Cynthia C. She was taking our drink order when a large table next to us got up to leave. She began going on about how blacks don't tip right and how well she made out each day on tips depended on how many black customers she had to serve. Needless to say the large group was black and as she waited for the hostess to bring the next group to sit she continued discussing how it all depended on the "clientele" and she was having a run of bad luck. When she saw who was coming, her comment to us was, "Well, thank goodness they're white." We were floored. We had never seen this woman before in our lives and she just figured it was safe to open up to us because we were white. We quickly ate and as we were leaving she called, "You all have a blessed day!" Sorry won't be going back. As I was leaving I noticed that half the dining room was African American customers. As a rule the food is excellent but today was not so good. But the waitress and manager we're very polite and made the situation better. I do not reccomend the chicken fried steak. The croissants are the best. Love the potato soup and the Month Chrito sandwich. read more

I was excited to hear about a Cheddars opening in Slidell. But it wasn't anything like the ones in Texas. Each time I've ever been my food came out cold and dry. I tried to work with them by going back three times. But I was disappointed each time. I give up. The prices are very very decent. I travel for a living. Restaurants are a major part of my day so when I post saying that this was the worst experience I have ever had.....I really mean it! This was just a lunch with my mom. We both ordered entrees. I ordered onion rings and Mom ordered soup for appetizers. I also ordered a "Grande Top Shelf Margarita. We waited 20 minutes for our food to arrive. When it did arrive it was my meal only. No appetizers no Margarita. I asked our waiter, he apologized and want to "check on it". Five minutes later Mom got her soup and her entree. I asked the person who delivered mom's meal about our appetizers and my drink and she didn't know anything about it and offered to get a manager. Eventually our waiter stopped by apologized some more and went to "check on it". He brought back the Margarita. I cut into my meal and fount not only was it cold but it was not what I ordered. Took a sip of my Margarita and found that it was frozen salt water. Still no appetizer. Waiter checked in with us. I told him about the drink. He told me he reordered my meal for me and he would speak to the bar tender about the drink. Eventually he came back with the appetizer and apologized some more; told me that the bar tender ran out of the alcohol needed for my Margarita so they would take it off my bill. My meal finally arrived in a to go box. Waiter was still apologizing and the manager was missing in action when we finally left. This was an hour and a half of my life I will never get back! Going out the door my 79 year old mother quietly asked me to never take her back. Believe me she has nothing to worry about....I will never set foot in a Cheddar's again! read more

Absolutely horrible experience. My boyfriend and I waited about 15 minutes to get seated, which is no big deal because most restaurants have a wait. We were seated and told a waitress would be with us shortly. Apparently shortly equals another ten minute wait just to order a lemonade, water, and an appetizer of chips and queso. Another ten minutes later, and we finally got our drinks. Never got the appetizer. She took our order then left. Then a different waitress brought out our food after about ten minutes, which is a reasonable wait, but we still had no chips and queso. We told her this, and she said she would bring it to us. Let's just say, we never got our chips and queso. We told two DIFFERENT waitresses and neither of them seemed competent enough to bring out our order. Luckily we weren't charged for it, but it was still quite annoying. The food was average at best, but we both did get Chicken Tenders, with a side of Mac & Cheese. What I'm trying to say is, I will never go there again. read more
