I was taken to your establishment for Mother's day. It was a terrible experience. Seated quickly. Waited 15 min before waitress appeared. She was friendly, took our order, waited 30 min and runner brought our food. My order was wrong, so I sent it back. I was told it would only take 5 min to correct. I knew that was not going to happen, so I told my daughter to go ahead and eat. She finished her meal completely before my food arrived. When she paid they had charged her twice for my meal and she didn't notice it until the printed bill came. She called it to the attention of our waitress, who had to get her manager involved. My daughter was told to pay the correct amount. And that they could not refund the overpayment. That would have to be done by corporate. After all this hassle we were not offered any kind of incentive to come back. No coupons. no free dessert, nothing. My last trip there, even though I was not the one paying. It was My birthday yesterday so of course hubby surprised me with lunch from one of my fave restaurants! I'm having to be on a dairy free/soy free diet and the menu doesn't really specify either allergy, so I had to make my best guess this trip. Normally I'm a sucker for the Monte Cristo. We tried them again and it was very good and have been going fine in and out. Friday at 545 was our scheduled pick up time. It was 15 mins before we got our food and we were there at 530. The food was stone cold. The few tenders were for combo ribs cold and tough. Cheese on broccoli casserole so cold it had hardened into a clump. Carrots were floating on cold water. French fries on my husband's plate were cold and burnt. Shrimp MIGHT have been ok other than cold shrimp is cocktail shrimp not fried. Everything on all 3 plates were cold. The portions of everything scant Honey butter croissants I had asked for extra honey butter, barely had any on it. They were not only cold but stale. I mean dry in the middle stale. This is probably one of the most "love-hate" establishments in Central Texas. Sometimes, it's one of the best places to eat and enjoy a night out. Other times, it will quite literally ruin your afternoon. I've been going to this particular Cheddar's since I was a kid (when it was a 'Casual Cafe'), and it's always been this way. Our most recent trip was delightful! Fresh brewed tea, amazing Spinach Dip with extra chips, and our two entrees knocked the whole meal out of the park. We ordered the 6 oz. Sirloin with a Caesar Salad and Mashed Potatoes and the Cajun Pasta. Both were seasoned to absolute perfection and came out hot and fresh super fast! Yesterday, my fiancé and her mother visited this cheddars location and I must say the quality of food was fantastic especially for the price. The staff was friendly and restaurant was clean. I ordered the blackened salmon and it was cooked to perfection. Very delicious and highly recommend my fiancé had the steak and chicken tenders and I would've been highly satisfied if I ordered it instead of what I got. Cheddars, across the board, as a National brand it is typically very good. It's a restaurant that multiple diners in a family or a group of friends can agree on because of the familiar American fare and variety of options. Plus, who doesn't like croissants served with drizzled honey butter?!?! The portions at this location we're good. My stepfather even took home half of his Shrimp Alfredo. I found that there was a little too much pepper coating my 8 oz Center-Cut Filet, and the mashed potatoes were bland. I guess my biggest suggestion or criticism is that the staff needs to work on their customer service skills and being a little more warm and friendly. I found the staff from the hostess station to the waitress to be aloof and blasé. It just so happened this was the first day I'd seen my mother and stepfather in-person since Covid. And we were celebrating their birthday week (75th and 82nd respectively). When I happened to mention the birthdays to the waitress on the sly, she replied "We don't do that." You don't do what? Help families celebrate occasions? Don't offer an alternative solutions -- such as I can purchase a dessert and you'll stick a candle in it? Restaurants have struggled the past 16 months. The app was good but the addition of possibly bbq sauce or such would help as all the tastes like the spinach/queso had the same silky rich mouthfeel. The restaurant is upscale but casual and the prices reasonable. The atmosphere is good but somewhat loud. Everything we have tried we have liked so far. the first time i came here around 6 months ago,the food was great, but it's gone downhill ever since. Ive eaten here about five times and every time the host has this mean look on her face and has no customer service to her whatsoever. My servers are always good but the food just gets worse each time. My go-to is always cheese bites and a chicken sandwich, the bites are undercooked more each time and the sandwich gets greasier each visit. The hostess was pleasant and correct in the amt of time it would take to seat us. The table was clean and our waitress was very nice although she forgot to provide us with silverware when our lunch arrived and I believe she forgot to put in our appetizer order because it came out when we were almost done with our lunch. But the food tasted delicious. SO why the 3 star you say? What needs attention? The cleanliness of the bathroom. Mildew has a smell and it can cause illness. Not sure if there was a leak in that room or it just doesn't get properly disinfected but I smelled mildew. There is mildew present around the toilets, the sinks are dirty (not because it missed one cleaning) and an issue going on with the wall.
