My trip to Cheeca lodge was nothing short of a good time. This was the destination for my moms company retreat and I was so grateful she let us tag along. We checked in late afternoon on a Friday and while checking in were greeted with a glass of champagne in the lobby. Our room was closer to the front of the entrance but the walk to the main area isn't far at all . Everything was clean, presentation was very nice and staff were friendly. During my time here I enjoyed peace and quiet, (no matter time of day), kayaking, swimming/laying out by the adult pool(closer to tennis courts), and just walking around. Others swam with manatees , rode bikes on premise, etc.... The food served for breakfast was delicious everything on the menu was perfect and I know this because I tried everyone's dish . For the yelp review ofcourse. The company had a private dinner for staff and family Saturday and I'm assuming the hotel provided the dinner it was seriously to die for I had like 3 plates of food to try everything. There was also open bar and that was great. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a get away. It's such a great space. Now the last thing I'll say is that the smell of sulfur at the time I went was really bad. lol I tried to just endure it and be one with nature but It gave me a headache I thought I'd get used to it and I didn't so little side note. read more

This is the start of another post-pandemic cheeca lodge review regarding recurrent issues (look at the Google reviews) that need to be addressed by hotel management. I sincerely hope they do. The attention to detail is simply not present here. When I arrived to check in, I requested a room within the main hotel should one became available as we had booked a bungalow room. The front desk staff, we'll call him "G", told us he would let us know if there were any cancellations and that in the meantime we should drive over to the bungalow to get settled. The bungalow is on the second floor. It's not that many stairs, but if you are a petite person with a heavy suitcase, like my partner is, your first experience at Cheeca is lugging heavy bags up the stairs because the hotel doesn't offer any help. But we're still excited to have arrived at this point so we carry on. Within 5-10 minutes we receive a call from "G" about a cancellation, an ocean facing room had opened up and would cost an additional $140/night. I immediately say yes to "G" and we take the heavy suitcases back down the stairs to the car and drive back over to the main hotel lobby check-in. "G" is nowhere to be found. I return to the desk he had been sitting at earlier where another staff member is now seated and explain why we are standing in front of her. The staff member goes upstairs and returns with "G" who sits back down at his desk, turns his monitor around to show me the aforementioned room is no longer available at the price point he offered us over the phone that we accepted, but that we could rent a different oceanfront one for $900/night if we wanted to pay the difference and offered a 10-15% discount. We politely declined and drove back to the bungalow, schlepping the suitcases back upstairs, again without any help from the staff. If all this seems trivial so far, consider the following: We took a step back and tried to make the best of it from that point on. As mentioned previously the level of detail for the price we paid was simply not a comfort. It happened to be raining on our first day, the bungalows have no plan for people coming in wet or sandy. There's no mat outside or inside the bungalow door. The pump in our bungalow bathroom toilet routinely jams so the top has to come off and the pump given a regular tap to resume function. Nothing says sexy romantic vacation like your partner asking you to come fix the toilet for her. There is considerable and visible mold in the shower. The tiles need to be regrouted. Our ceiling has black stains and needs to be repainted The robes in the spa locker room have been in the locker so long without being turned over that they have a foul odor to them. Kids EVERYWHERE at this resort... if you are an adult couple looking for some quiet just about anywhere at Cheeca, good luck, I hope you brought noise cancelling headphones. There were even kids at the "adults only" spa pool. We spent the first day and a half getting to know the resort so we ate at its restaurants a bunch, especially the main one that opens first thing. Dinner @ Atlantic's Edge It's just not anywhere good enough to justify the cost. Breakfast @ Atlantic's Edge Much better than dinner, and the service was friendly and helpful. Lunch @ Atlantic's Edge Again, friendly service. Because dinner at Cheeca was such a flop, and the reviews on Yelp / Google pretty much all say the Asian fusion restaurant, Kaiyo, down the street is better than the in-house sushi at Cheeca, we opted for dinner there after having our first three meals at Atlantic's Edge. Our server even commented on how many Cheeca guests were dining with them, the guests seated next to us also mentioned the reviews steering them away from the in-house restaurants. After dining at Kaiyo Grill & Sushi (pricey for the ambiance but at least it was delicious) we decided to have dessert back at the hotel and made our way to the hostess stand at Atlantic's edge where we are then told that we can't sit at any of the empty main dining tables outside just to have key lime pie because we aren't ordering dinner. I get it, if the restaurant is busy and there's a line of people waiting to spend lots of money, then you have this policy... even though I had spent money here three separate times within a 24 hour period, I get the policy. But this was not the case tonight. There were numerous tables available. It's Wednesday night. It was SLOW. We wanted a piece of key lime pie. We were done in 15 minutes. Room rate (total): $852.74 Resort fee: $112.50 Grand total: $965.24 (two nights) Taxes: 12.5% + $50 resort fee per room per night (Two nights total) Update: we were given one free night and resort fees covered to make up for this. read more

We came here to celebrate our anniversary. I'm just getting here was already a disaster.. we checked in and the young man did not explain any of the amenities on the property. We explain to him that we were here for the first time.. everyone was getting champagne and we were not offered any. The next morning we went to go have breakfast on the table was disgusting the salt shaker, and the pepper shaker were super old and sticky.. it's not the end of our Acacian. We rented here for four days and one of the expensive suites on the new side of the property.. so sad such an amazing property in the customer service is not good at all. Nice property, but probably the worst service at a hotel we've received. When you are spending $500 upwards a night for multiple rooms you would expect basic service but everything here is a MISSION. First, every time you try to connect with concierge it's busy. You need to call via 800 number be rerouted and pray you get someone. Second, the check in was a hot mess. Not only did they give us the wrong room and did not provide any of the basics we requested like a pack and play and connected room that we confirmed multiple times prior to arrival. Our two rooms one was renovated and one was from the 80's and no shame in their game not even warning us. Empty restaurants and forcing a ressie to have us walk around with a baby for 5 min to return to the exact place and spot that was open before. The problem ultimately is not understanding basic customer service and providing it. The pools are great for kids but if you don't get their early like 9 am early you won't have a chair for the day. The restaurants are okay nothing to rave about and pricing is well hotel over priced. So would I come back? If I could do no stars I would. As a resort with a prestige reputation, extremely disappointing with the company's they have hired servicing the guests that are paying a lengthy price to stay here. Nonetheless I had three designer handbags stolen out of my hotel room just after check out. To circle back within a small time frame of checking out & addressing the front desk to be told nothing is found speaks measures to know who is going into our rooms to clean. The concierge, management and security were extremely dismissive to this situation. It's against the law and wrong. I am now moving forward with filing a case with police officers. Beautiful, expansive hotel with newly remodeled rooms, great views, and lots to do. Been coming for many years. Every time I come, I discover something new. Not only do they have kayaks, paddleboards and ocean trampolines that the kids love, they offer tennis/pickleball courts, ping pong, sunrise yoga, bicycles, 4 pools (including an adult only pool next to their spa), snorkeling tours directly from the hotel, and a tiki bar with amazing lobster grilled cheese. The choice of rooms is limitless, from ocean view, golf view, to lagoon view. They have standard hotel rooms but if your feeling adventurous, get a beach bungalow or cassita and wake up on the beach! Did I mention the gorgeous tropical landscape and tiki torches that light up the place at night?!!! Jasmyn in reservations is top notch! She will make sure that you are well taken care of. read more

We booked an oceanfront 2 queen suite and in return we got started on the wrong foot: 1) our room wasn't ready 2) the key machine isn't working 3) we called for our bags, waited an hour, had to go down and haul them up myself! 4) the water temperature control for the balcony bath is switched, so H is cold and C is hot! Confusing? Wait until you try to figure out the indoor shower, with three shower heads, flow and temperature control... it should come with instructions! It's been 30 years since we've been here and we had such fond memories, it's a shame we got off to such a rough start. The Tiki Bar was a delight, with keen bartenders eager to please. The drinks were creative and fun. The fans, equipped with a misting system, helped cool the space during the hottest part of the day. Supper at Atlantic's Edge was delicious, service was spot-on, helpfully, attentive and prompt. The food was outstanding, including the most tender octopus ever. We had a wonderful meal. The room A/C was fixed and cooled the room appropriately. It ran all night, almost silently, which is a big plus over most A/C systems we encounter. The beds are super comfortable, and plenty of pillows. The rooms are immaculately maintained, as are the beach front and other resort amenities. The shuttle service went well, with us visiting a local restaurant to enjoy the sunset. Drop off and pickup were smooth and professional, the vehicle was comfortable and well maintained. We are locals and stay in the keys at least once a month. I have been wanting to stay at Cheeca for years, and finally decided to go for my birthday weekend. I have very mixed feelings about the experience. My husband, my two boys and I arrived on my actual birthday a bit early. I would say maybe noon, and the room was not available. We were in the main tower. Understandable, since we were early, but no options given except leaving our stuff with the bell stand. They did not ask if we wanted to move to a different room that was available or any idea of when it would be available. We left our stuff, went to the pool area for the boys to hangout. There is a bathroom, but no area to change or shower, which I thought was odd but ok. The pool area is beautiful, service was normal. If you order bottles of wine, which I did on both days, be prepared to wait about 30 mins. Everything else was brought on time. The food was fine, nothing to ride home about. There is no live music by the pool or beach, there are no resort originated activities, no guest interaction, no sunset celebration, nothing. Its definitely a place to go, sit and do nothing. I don't mind doing nothing for a little bit but not for hours on end. There is no vibe, the best I could describe the resort is as old money type, Tommy Bahama, older crowd, not very family oriented resort. The staff is cold, not your typical keys type. The only friendly person we encountered was Carlos from the bar outside, thats it. Went back around 2 to see if the room was ready, it wasn't, they said it would be another 45 minutes. Again no options given. Now we took one son to the kids club, but he was the only child there and got bored rather quickly, and we ended up at the beach. It's pretty, spacious, and quite. They finally called at 4:30, that our room was ready. Needless to say, I'm a little upset at this point. The most positive part of the trip was the beauty of the room. It was aesthetically appealing but when you detailed it, the beds had the dent were you sink into the middle, the sofa upholstery was mismatched, etc., little things but for the price point it should not be that way. I would venture to say the entire resort needs to be updated. At this point we showered and left for dinner elsewhere. Came back around 7:30, expecting some activity but no. They had someone playing live music by the outdoor restaurant but very low background music. We asked if there was music at the bar, they said the speakers were broken, no music anywhere else. My husband and I sat for a chat a little while and that was all. The next morning, I called front desk to inquire as to their late check out options, they said 11:00 am, no other options, no fee for later check out, nothing. Very matter of fact and that was it. They said the had a large turnaround, however, this is the low season for the keys, many tourist don't know that but the locals do. Such a low season that a lot of the restaurants take their vacation time now and close for about a month. In reality the property was empty, we walked around and took photos and there was no one around. You can tell by the pictures it's empty. Sadly disappointed - unlikely to return: Still unresolved promise from resort management: initial room was checked in on Oct 1st during the evening - on Oct 2 left room to go to breakfast and the pool - upon returning there was running water leaking from the light fixtures in the ceiling and clear evident water intrusion into the ceiling of the bathroom, bathroom ceiling and into the living space. Had to notify 6 different staff members from the front desk to the Food and Beverage Manger to ultimately the manager before anything was addressed - but not before being asked to submit photos and video proof which I did. Overall the attention to customer concerns was laughable as I wasted 3 hours and a vacation day trying to resolve a clear issue with the building, pipes/water and room. We were moved to a new room yes, only after raising enough concerns to finally be addressed - which felt more like an attempt to push the situation under the rug as the lobby was full of new check ins. We were moved to a different room with the added promise of being compensated for the first- and second-days inconvenience as the concern was not only an inconvenience but possibly an environmental safety concern. During the move, the new buildings elevator was found to be inoperable (later to be told by staff that it hasn't worked in months). When I returned to the desk to inquire about being moved from a 1st floor to a 3rd floor w no working elevator the guest services member copped an attitude and walked me to the room, acting as if this was an inconvenience for her. Unfortunately, the promises by the on-site manager were never met or followed through on and almost a month later we are here with no response or follow up. Very disappointing for a place that we had such a great experience the first time. Upon checking out, I was handed an invoice which had no accommodations made and the concierge said "I don't handle any concerns just hand out the bill" - I reviewed and asked about the lack of concern/bill accommodation with guest service/front desk clerk and was told that the promising manager was off that day and when the on-site manager that was called, the reply was "I'm going into a meeting". I was also asked to recount the entire concern again, by one of the very individuals that was involved on Oct 2nd = informing me that no notes were made and they couldn't override the accommodation made on the bill of which there were none to override. I was promised that the manager would follow up when she returned and that she was good at what she did and would follow through - this has not happened still almost a month and a guest survey later. Not sure this will even get read or reviewed by their management that say "your feedback is valuable and used to better guest experiences" - but after having to be the one to try and reach out multiple times I do not feel that they care about the guest either when they are there and especially not after they have left. read more

Paid for an ocean front room in the main lodge and we were annexed to a different building. Extremely disapointing! And management couldn't help since they gave away the rooms we had requested. I didn't want to write this review and went back and forth a few times about it, why? Cheeca Lodge has been our go to for many years now. Our most recent visit will likely be our last. For the last three years, going twice a year we have stayed in the same room. Upon entering the room there is a covered staircase that was absolutely and utterly disgusting, the ground was nearly black, on a tan tile, boot marks, peeling paint, and rust dripping stains. We stayed for 4 days and the staircase was never cleaned. Then we proceeded to enter our room, we enter to find a maintenance worker with boxes all over the bathroom, changing the light fixtures. He was in the room for about 30-40 minutes but felt like forever because we wanted to change and use the restroom. At this point, I was upset but wasn't going to let it bother me, that was until this.... I enter the bathroom only to sit on the toilet (sorry for the TMI) and see a huge nest of hair on the floor. I was completely and utterly grossed out, so much that I wasn't going back in the bathroom to take a picture. I then went to the front desk and spoke with them, a supervisor came out and I quietly explained my concerns, she apologized and offered to remove the $62.00 resort fee, I said thank you and moved along. When we returned to the room I took a deeper look at the entire bathroom and noticed, the grout is absolutely filthy, the dirt is thick! I had no words and this point and spoke with my husband about leaving. This was our yearly anniversary trip and he didn't want to leave. I cleaned the toilet myself as well as the shower, as best I could without all my cleaning tools. There were some other issues but nothing terrible. I did complete the survey upon arriving home and did receive a response from a Supervisor, she offered a family and friend discount if I ever returned. I emailed back asking for the resort fee which was NOT credited, to be credited back. I await their response. I wanted to mention, the drink I had at the bar was very good, pricey but good. Service at the Atlantic restaurant was mediocre at best, we really like their wings, they're amazing, hence the three stars . I didn't use the Spa because the prices are insane. We will be finding a new Anniversary & Birthday celebration vacation spot. Sorry Cheeca, looks I'm not the only loyal patron that sees the decline. You have much work to do. read more

My husband and I were looking for an easy escape from Miami for Memorial Day weekend. Cheeca was the perfect backdrop for a relaxing babymoon! The room: We stayed in a "resort view" room which essentially looked out onto the tennis courts and lots of greenery. I was impressed by how spacious the room was. There was a full kitchenette with large fridge and stove, two bathroom areas with separate sinks, a large tub, shower, living room with TV, and of course, queen bed! We did like the spacious balcony, too. The one downfall was how loud the AC was and it was running pretty much all day. Amenities: The resort fee at Cheeca covers some activities like paddle boarding, while some come at an extra price (beach yoga is $10 and snorkeling $55, for instance). We didn't take advantage of much outside of the gym which was small but got the job done. There's also a 9-hole golf course and .75 mile running path surrounding the resort which was nice to check out. There are four tennis courts which we intended to play on but never got around to. They were really nice though and there is a "pro" that hosts clinics and round robin tournaments. Restaurants: I peeped the menus for the three restaurants before hand and it all seemed a little overpriced for dinner. We did have breakfast two mornings at Atlantic's Edge and I really enjoyed the acai bowl, as well as fries and a quesadilla poolside one afternoon. Room service is available 24 hours and we did try the margarita pizza which was a-ok. Spa: We got a couples massage one morning - prenatal for me and deep tissue for him. The prenatal massage was great! I was thankful they had the special pillow to accommodate my belly. My husband was hoping for a little more pressure but overall, left relaxed. Pools: There are two pools currently - one that's a little more lively near the tiki bar and another adult only pool. The adult only pool got busy fast, so I was happy we got there early to snag chairs. A new oceanfront pool is also under construction which looks like it will be nice. Everyone that we encountered working there was very nice and helpful! Parking is free and we could pull up right to our room which was great. The location of Cheeca is super close to some great restaurants like Chef Michael's which we could walk to, as well as Islamorada attractions and activities. Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to come back to Cheeca if looking for a spot to relax in Islamorada. read more

This place is nothing like the Bungalows! The staff is rude and unwilling to help you, food at best cruise ship average, they charge you for everything even coffee, too many people and not relaxing! I will never stay here again and the only reason I'm here and not at The Bungalows, is we are visiting friends here! On the plus side, the rooms are nice, but tv service is garbage, can even stream Netflix. Oh and they water down their drinks, this is what you get when you stay at a corporate managed resort! read more

We were here for a business conference and while the lodge met our needs for that purpose, I wouldn't recommend it for a personal vacation or leisure. The facilities were surprisingly run down; our friends had no electricity in their room for half the stay and the fire alarms kept going off, including at 6am. WiFi was spotty and was out for several consecutive hours, so this wouldn't be a good place to work from. Multiple people had their reservations confused. Our friends were charged for an extra night even though records showed that they didn't check in until the day after. Even for myself, when I checked in, they had us down for an extra night, which I told them was a mistake. Even after telling the staff at check in, they didn't update the reservation and the staff at check out still thought we were supposed to stay an extra night. The food during the catered meals was amazing and ranged from buttery fish to steak with chimichurri and lobster. However, outside of any catered events, the meals we ordered at the restaurants were average and overpriced. The bartenders were great but the food servers consistently forgot orders and brought us the wrong thing even after three reminders. read more

My friend and I are currently staying at the resort for our first time. We were really looking forward to this and are very disappointed. The customer service here is so bad that we wish we would have spent the money elsewhere. The amount of gaslighting we've received since day one is unbelievable. You can not get a response from management, and the front desk staff are unhelpful/apathetic. This is just a small list of what we are currently dealing with. The cord on the room phone was causing so much static that we are unable to use it. Man who came to fix it simply turned up volume on the phone and insisted it was fixed while holding it to my ear. I told him I could still hear static periodically, and he said no, it's fixed. I fixed it. He basically just kept insisting it was fixed until I just told him I was too tired from my flight to argue about it anymore. The next morning, we asked for an additional wastebasket or trash bag. We only had a small one in the bathroom and wanted to be able to keep our room tidy. It took asking several people and 2 days to finally get one. By that point, we had already gone to the store and bought our own. We decided to let it go because it was a minor thing. Our room isn't exactly as advertised. The tub on our balcony isn't marble, like advertised, and the first time I tried to use it, the sprayer attachment flew off the fixture. Water sprayed all over me and my belongings. Luckily, I saved my phone. Had to ask twice to get that fixed. Had dinner at their on-site restaurant, Mia Cucina, and after serving us our drinks, our waiter disappeared, never to be seen again. Another waitress, Alex, had to help us get our ticket so we could pay and leave. We ran into her a few times throughout our stay and was always very friendly and helpful. Today, as we were leaving to go get lunch, I found a cockroach on our floor. We asked to speak to management and were told they were unavailable. The lady at the front desk wrote our room number on a post-it and said she would leave it for the manager. I've never heard from anyone. When we returned to our room a couple of hours later, we found our door left open from when housekeeping came. Luckily, nothing was missing that we can tell. Once again, I asked to speak to management. No one will respond. We are spending about almost $600 per night to stay here, and I swear I've had better experiences elsewhere for a whole lot less. Even their complimentary "luxury" shampoo,conditioner, and body wash they left for us are opened, half filled, worn bottles. Gross. I'm hoping this review will prevent another person from spending their money here and maybe, just maybe,help me get a response from management. I'm confused by all the good reviews this place gets. The bad outweighs the good by far! The only good experience I've had here was at the spa where I received a glorious, much needed massage. Thankful for that! UPDATE: The day after posting this review I was able to speak to the resort manager. This was only possible thanks to a young man I spoke to at the valet stand. He was able to find the resort manager very quickly after we explained the trouble we were having. I unfortunately didn't get his name but am very thankful for his help. After speaking to the resort manager about our experience he apologized that we hadn't been able to get in touch with a manager. He assured us that he would get with security to review video to see who left our door open and address it. He made dinner reservations for us at Atlantic Edge the next night and comped our meal. Our dining experience was much better there, and our waitress was wonderful. Some adjustments were made to our bill, which we felt were enough to make things right. Watch your tabs at the tiki bar. I was completely over charged, the bartender tried to add an $80 gratuity without my knowledge. Then tried to force me to sign the slip after I had questioned it. As of this review it has been almost 2 weeks and it still has not been fixed. You leave msgs and no one returns your call. I can say if you happen to get AMBER as your server, SHES AMAZING!! Cheeca Lodge is great! We have been coming to the Florida Keys for family trips for over 20 years, but had never stayed at Cheeca before. So glad we booked this for a couples award trip. First working with the sales manager and her team was very easy if you are looking for a group booking. But if you are just looking for a family or couples getaway, this place is great. To start, the property is beautiful and the grounds are very well kept. There are different types of rooms and we chose the king suits that have a living room area and kitchen area. These were great as we could have everyone over for morning cocktails and again for happy hour. The kitchen is a full size kitchen where you could easily prepare meals. It is stocked with pots, utensils, glasses, basic needed items. The full size fridge is a plus. The seating area has a sleeper sofa so the furniture is not very comfortable but would be nice if traveling with the kids. A balcony with more seating is nice too. The bathroom is very big with a large tub and standup shower and two different sink areas. There are multiple pools, a really nice beach area with chairs, and the resort fee is $45 per day but includes bicycles, kayaks, use of the pools, hot tubs, and tennis courts. They offer complimentary golf cart transportation around the property and have a shuttle that will take you to restaurants within a few miles at no extra charge. We were diligent about tipping everyone who transported us somewhere as that was a great perk. You can imbibe with no worries. There are multiple restaurants on site and room service is available. We ate at Atlantic's Edge and the Tiki Bar. Both were good. They offer daily housekeeping and that was great, but they didn't come as scheduled, so that caused a few issues. We docked our boat on site for one night only as the docking leaves a bit to be desired but it is available. The service overall at the resort is top notch! I must preface this review with the fact that we are "gulf coast" Florida snow-birds who spend our time on Captiva and Sanibel Islands. Change of plans this year with Hurricane Ian. Pros: - Resort itself is LOVELY - We booked 2 premier oceanfront suites which just opened and felt nice and new - We were upgraded to a "penthouse" premier oceanfront suite which was much appreciated by me, my husband, and our two older sons who stayed next door. There is a large living / dining area, huge bedroom with additional seating area (and a swing!), a huge bathroom with fabulous soaking tub, a separate full bath in the living/dining room, an amazing wrap around balcony with seating for 10, 2 chaise lounges and an outdoor tub.... all right on the beach. Very private and quiet. Lovely design touches throughout. Many thanks. - The front desk staff and bar staff are very attentive and responsive - The man-made beach and cabanas by the new wing with the premier oceanfront suites is very quiet and private (read as a fair distance from kids) - We woke to a flat tire on our rental land yacht (QX80) and have to send a shout out to Miguel (housekeeping), Facundo, and Jesse who went out of their way to help us get the flat off (wouldn't inflate with compressor), put on the spare, and direct us to Bill's Custom Automotive right down the street who had us back on the road pretty darn quickly. Many thanks. - Response to request to fix a few items in our room was prompt Cons: - There is NO beach - The pools are coated in sunscreen and BUSY - The adult pool is small and felt more like the lap swimming pool at my club than a relaxing spot - Golf course was not enticing to the two big golfers in our family which was a big let down - Service and food at the Tiki Bar, Atlantic's Edge, and Mia Cucina were disappointing. We weren't the only ones waiting to be acknowledged after being seated for more than 10 minutes, having to hail down anyone to help place an order, and asking a bus person to grab our food that was sitting in plain sight for at least 30 minutes. Food was not worth the wait at any of the restaurants. Of note, there are two "sister" restaurants- Pierre's and the Morada Bay which were just awful. Service was better there, but food was so bad we actually corked our wine and left Pierre's which is supposed to be exceptional. - Many room service trays left out for more than 12 hours in the premier wing - No towels on the "beach" three days out of our five day stay - There isn't a sundries shop or a grab and go spot for coffee, etc. Gift shop is full of clothes (which we appreciated, but Publix is a bit of a hike for necessities) Would we go back? Not sure.... we really wanted a beach and golf destination with great food and only found great food at The Square Grouper. The resort is lovely, but not sure if it is enough of a draw unless service and food at restaurants, pool cleanliness, and golf course step up their game. read more

Our family came over New Year's. We read the reviews and looked forward to having a wonderful family vacation. However, we've been continually disappointed. With a family of 4, we reserved the ocean view suit. But the view is of the maintenance yard, the pull-out sofa did not lay flat, and the basic amenities did not work (bathroom mirror light, wall outlets, etc.). Poolside service is nonexistent. We asked about upgrading our room to the ocean view we thought we had booked. We were told it would be an additional $300/night on top of us already paying over $1,200/night. Granted we stayed during prime vacation rental, we just expected the accommodations and service would be at least subpar. read more
