I really do not know what I love more about Cheese Please. I seriously think I am more in love with Michael and Carlos than the cheese. It was my pleasure tonight to be able to spend some quality time with the charismatic Michael at a Tea and Cheese Pairing hosted by TeBella Tea Company on Davis Island. It was then I remembered, damn...I still need to write my review for Cheese Please from our Unofficial Yelp Event held there in June! I could go on for days about Michael and Carlos. They are more than gracious hosts at all their events. Cheese Please even donated the delicious cheese that was at TeBella's Tea and Cheese Pairing tonight. Their knowledge of cheese and their accoutrements is both colorful and vast. The cheese. OH THE CHEESE! I really do not think you will find a cheese here you do not enjoy. Cheese Please has such a wide variety of cheese and both Michael and Carlos know what exactly to pair with it, whether it be a wine, a jelly/jam, etc. And if the cheese is not enough for you, there is a bar. A bar with great daily Happy Hour specials. Be sure sign up for the monthly newsletter. Cheese Please holds weekly tastings at a minimal cost and holds many fundraisers too. Two truths and a lie... That's what this review contains. Visit here for their cheese and wine tasting events and almost everything will make sense... if you open your mind and your taste buds. We were invited by the awesome Yelp instigator, Anna, to partake in some fun. And partake we did! There was a great group there for the Friday night event and the wine, laughter, and fun flowed. My wonderful wife and I followed Anna's advice to buy a glass at the bar just before the event to ensure we never went dry even though the pours never stopped. Michael and Carlos were wonderful hosts, enlightening us with tales of cheese making, lavender scented cows, and the finest cheesecake, or perhaps beefcake, straight from the web. Nothing cheesy about this place.. Just great artisanal cheese tastings with a wonderful and funny proprietor whose naughty jokes spiced up the occasion. This a very cool little shop and tastings bar that serves up plates of exceptional cheeses along with various snack accoutrements. Of course there are also wines, beers and non-alcoholic beverages, all dished up in a wonderfully intimate atmosphere that includes a private room in the back. I look forward to returning. I also appreciated that the prices were pretty reasonable, especially for the fun experience and the outstanding personalized service we received. Cheese Please is just the latest addition to an already palate-pleasing array of wining and dining destinations located in a South Tampa retail center that includes Pane Rustica, Redneck Wine Company, The Brunchery and the Village Health Market. Relocated from its former West Shore area location, what started out as a small specialty cheese shop quickly became widely known for its festive cheese and wine events that include a theme, featured cheeses from around the world paired with delicious select wines, lively crowds, music, props and costumes and the always charming and tireless proprietors/hosts, Michael and Carlos. I did not think Cheese Please could in any way be improved but the move into its new South MacDill Avenue digs gives it more room than before to host even bigger bashes and continue to create a cult around the owners' divine selection of cheeses, condiments, wines and craft beers. From the retail space in the front, you enter a tasting room with a Wine and Cheese bar and continue on into anther room with table-side seating. Enjoy a glass or wine or a local beer while sampling a flight of cheeses or make a reservation for the next weekly wine tasting. I'd received an invitation from Anna to Join her at Cheese Please before she made it an UYE, and after looking it over and checking my social calendar (because you know, we all have one) I agreed to come along. I made the hour journey from Tarpon out to South Tampa amid the heavy pre-3 day weekend traffic and found the location tucked into a strip mall on MacDill. It's outside is unassuming, Inside though, it's both quaint and alluring. The hosts are warm and charming. After taking my seat, (I was not the last of our party to arrive, although I was 3 minutes late) I was poured the first of the three wines of the night, a light crisp white, which, for me wasn't bad (I'm notoriously NOT a wine girl). I chatted with my table mates and got to feel out what was going to be happening. There was a sheet of paper in front of me with a listing of cheeses that would be served, with and without complement. Each course was different, no cheese was repeated, and each left a different taste on the palate. Some were rich and creamy, some were decadent and some were.. um.. well, not as pleasant as others. But there was something for everyone. For me, I found I really REALLY enjoyed the Thompson Tom, it had a Buttery, sharpy, salty taste. I liked the Wasabi Goat cheese, and The No Woman cheese - A jerk seasoned cheese that was so flavourful! The wines were all right. We were served two reds. One didn't sit well with me at all, and I gave that one to Anna. The other, a Spanish one, was nice on the tongue. The white was crisp on the tongue and sweet. Because we attended the event, we received $2.00 off our first glass of wine in the wine bar, and 10% off our purchases in the cheese shop. They offer these tastings on Thursday-sat and also have private tastings by reservation where you can customize your own flights. Our tasting was domestic cheeses paired with 3 different wines. Michael is the owner of this fine establishment and does a great job of making you feel welcome. You can participate in a cheese tasting on a Friday or Saturday night with a reservation for about $35. There are a lot of fun and the cheese choices are paired with wines. You can purchase anything you like afterwards and they give you a discount for purchasing that night. You can also just sit at the bar or bistro tables and enjoy some wine and grilled cheese. The owners and the hostess were extremely friendly and helpful in allowing us to choose from our favorite types of cheeses available not only on the menu but in the shop as well. The grilled cheeses were perfect combination of crispy buttery bread and melty salty cheeses perfectly balanced. A good selection of wines and what I really liked is their selection for house wines. Many restaurants don't actually realize having a good tasting house wine is just as important as having some great selections in the cellar. If you have not yet tried their "blueberry cheesecake" you are missing out and need to order it ASAP. Can't wait to go back and back again. I was looking for a classy intimate hangout spot - good for potential dates, or girls' night out and this place is PERFECT. I love love love Cheese Please! The staff we met was so friendly and it feels like a friend invited you over to try a new cheese they found, like a small social gathering with an excellent knowledgeable host. There was a very short menu, but my friend and I didn't even order off of it. We simply talked to the people there and told them what we liked and what we wanted to try and they whipped up a customized cheese platter. The merlot jam was beautiful, the truffle pecorino was reminiscent of my favorite Mac and cheese, but it was an experimental concoction that took my breath away. One of the staff members made a bleu/Brie stuffing with added banana chips, and figs and put it into these little red peppers and it was basically a giant explosion of flavor! They were trying out different menu items and we got lucky with this experiment and when we left, we were begging them to put it on the menu for our future visits, which will happen quite often. There are too many good things to say about Cheese Please. It was pretty empty when we went, but I believe it's because they have only moved to this new location for a month. I definitely want to go back soon before other people discover this gem and access to this wonderful experience becomes much harder. read more

I have been to Cheese Please several times. The group tastings are very entertaining and delicious. You typically receive bottomless 3 types of wine. Also about 7 types of cheese. Each by themselves with a cracker and then with a condiment like jelly to enhance the flavor. You may leave hungry but never thirsty. No one ever leaves disappointing from the jokes and entertainment which I won't mention too much as to not spoil the part. It is well worth the price. This was my first time ever hearing of this establishment, and it did not disappoint! The wine selection is abundant, and my favorite part is creating your own customized cheese tray that paired perfectly with our wine. My friend and I selected a bottle of the Gerard Bertrand Pinot Noir, with the option to choose your own Cheese and Charcuterie Flight. There are several varieties to mix and match, which is brilliant in experiencing new options outside of your comfort zone. For our Charcuterie selections, we tried the Potato Chip Gouda, a salted white cheese, & the salami with herbs. Each selection is accompanied with different condiments (jams, mustard etc...) as well as thin wafer crackers. The experience was one of a kind, with the bartender, servers and the owner engaged and attentive to ensure our enjoyment. The bar and lounge area is fairly small, however cozy and an inviting atmosphere. There is a room towards the back to host tasting events and private gatherings. I am looking forward to returning and attending a tasting event in the near future. Our visit was nothing short of relaxing and enjoyable for the start to a nice Friday evening out. Do you know cheese? I bet you don't. You see, people THINK they know cheese, until they come here. To be honest, the obsession with George Clooney, is... uh... unique. Why someone knows SOOOO MUCH ABOUT CHEESE is beyond me, but he does. CHEESE: My wife ordered a "Micheal Inspired" cheese platter, which I sadly ate most of myself. In addition, I ordered "the Facts of Life" sandwich (again, weird Clooney associated theme, but hey, it works). AMAZING. The sandwich was the star of the show for me. I did have a particular liking to this Rattlesnake Cheddar (it had bite, no pun intended). HONEY: We had honey. Personally, couldn't care less about honey. My wife is obsessed with honey. Apparently, the honey is good. Whatever. I had some. It got on my cheese. I still ate the cheese even though it got contaminated by the honey. My Sandwich had honey on it too. I didnt make them take it off. Maybe I shouldn't be so hard on the honey... I'm just not there yet. Wine selection: Good. seems like we had a wine with a presidents name in it. Honestly, I was so taken back by the amazing sandwich, you could have served kerosine and I may not have noticed. I know my wife enjoyed the wine. I will also comment that I had two glasses of the same wine, so it had to be quite good, or I would have just gotten water as second drink. ATMOSPHERE: Atmosphere was neat. Michael is world class, perhaps even one of a kind. Clooney stuff is kinda weird. Not a turn off, just.... not sure what to say. Doesn't bother me. just idk.... something. The place is kinda small. Not prohibitively small, but I wouldn't bring 20 people here without making plans way in advance. When we arrived at 5pm on a weekend, we walked right in and sat at the bar. There were a few tables open. Within 30 mins, it was standing room only. Crazy thing though, it wasn't loud. It was still nice even though it was packed. Also, even though it was CLEAR VERY BUSY, Michael never missed a beat. I recall the bill being a TINY BIT high for the amount of cheese. Certainly WOULD NOT STOP ME from coming again. Just stuck out in my mind for some reason. Truly, I can find no negatives of this place. Even the Clooney stuff is ok. Not my cup of tea, but certainly didn't scare me away. The "non-Michael" waitstaff was very friendly and clearly enjoy this work. I bet its more like just hanging out with friends than really working. My only regret is that I didn't take pics. For that, again, I am sorry. I am trying to do better. It won't happen again. CHEESE PLEASE! Food: A+ Wine selection : A- Service : A+ Atmosphere: A- Value: A- Michael: A+++ OVERALL: A - You should come here. Final Verdict: 4 Stars. Getting 5 stars takes a lot (I mean ALOT!) nowadays. Met a friend after work for happy hour, and I enjoyed the wine and the cheese, and the service was very attentive. But the vibe in the place is kind of strange. The seating is not quite comfortable, there is a small but totally bare marble top bar, with nothing behind it and nothing on it to make it inviting, and the middle room was just awkward looking. There are benches and tables in the back room but they're configured strangely, the bench seats are a little too high as compared to the chairs directly across from them. The decor is also dingy, didn't feel very inviting to me. The fragrance, however, when you walk in, it's delightful- the scent of a cheese cave. And the cheese that I had was very good. I thought it was a bit pricy, and just uncomfortable inside. I probably won't come back there anytime soon. If you're into cheese and charcuterie at a better price point (for happy hour) , I'd stick with C House in Seminole Heights. read more

"Cheese Please" is a great place for an informative and entertaining experience in cheeses, jellies and wine tasting. During our 2 hour epicurean trip we had eight (8) cheeses, eight (8) jellies and three (3) wines. The presentations by Michael and Carlos were FUNNY and provided insight into the locale, types, and process of the three above products. For our tastings the cheese agenda included two Manchego cheeses from Spain, three Gouda cheeses from the Netherlands, a Cheddar from Utah, and a Cotswald and Blue cheese from the UK. Don't worrying, I never heard of these cheeses before but the tastings served as a vehicle to have a two hour party with 35 strangers! The wines keep flowing providing ample liquid refreshment for the evening. The tastings are every Friday and Saturday evenings from 7 to 9 pm (reservations suggested). The cheeses, et al, changes for each session. $35 per person. read more

I walked in on a Sunday afternoon looking to buy some Gouda the person at the front counter looked up to smile and showed me potato chip Gouda. Knowing cheeses that's not really what I was looking for , but it was the only Gouda offered.very fair choices of cheeses. Most pieces are small cut we talked about Gouda no one asked us if we like a sample no one came to help as she pointed the potato chip moved away. I booked a tasting on the 24th for the 21st. When we showed up the owner informed us they only due tastings 1 Thursday a month. Instead of working with us on plan B he spent his time telling us how we made the mistake and he bears no responsibility for the website. We demanded refund and spent our evening else where. Extremely rude treatment under the circumstances. No effort to help set up a future date. Basic business but this owner missed the boat. Cannot recommend this place. read more

Eclectic interior and awesome characters/hosts inside where you wish the walls could talk. Cheese selection is superb and ever changing. Meat selection is endless. I agree with the others- Cheese Please is a 5-star venue! After two tasting events at Cheese Please, I expect nothing less than a fantastic evening. I highly recommend this place to anyone interested in cheese, wine, or a great time. It is one of my favorite places in Tampa. Located in the corner of a small plaza, Cheese Please is a trinity of goodness: first, a cheese and charcuterie shop in the front room; second, a wine and food bar referred to as "Clooney's" in the middle section; and third, a venue in the back for the cheese tastings. The tastings are typically scheduled on the weekends (Thurs, Fri and Sat) and have a different theme each weekend. I particularly like the varying themes because it allows you to focus on a specific group of cheeses or a style of cheese. I've been to tastings for European Cheeses and Goat and Sheep's Milk Cheeses, both of which were magnificent, full of laughter, and full of delicious cheese. Michael and Carlos do such a great job of introducing you to the cheese and wine selections for the evening, adding their own personal touches to each introduction. Call me a nerd but I really enjoy that they explain the production process for each style of cheese. Not only do you try the cheese itself, but they also pair it with a jelly to add an extra kick of flavor. Paired with the wine, it is a true delight. OMG!! I love this little place! Please, please, please check this place out. It is a gem that is hiding in a strip mall on MacDill. I've attended 2 cheese / wine tasting events here and I'm in love (we had bubbling wine at the last one...oh so glam!). You can set it up on their website or call and make reservations. It would make a very fun special date and it is also amazing as a group night out (GNO!!). Michael and Carlos are extra entertaining as they describe both the wine and the cheese and then the cheese again with a jelly/paste/etc. They serve plenty of wine and cheese. They do not skimp. They are very knowledgeable about the cheese and where/how it is produced and Michael tells the greatest stories. Be prepared to want to leave with a little something of what you've tried. I adore the wafers they serve the cheese upon. This last tasting I purchased a Spanish Goat cheese - "Capracho de Cabra" a silky, creamy cheese that was paired with a Jalapeno pepper jelly. I'm excited to serve it this weekend to guests. (I'm sure they will be impressed by my elegant spread. I can't wait to go to another tasting.
