Stopped by for Happy Hour and was a little confused about the current specials. It isn't clearly stated online because I thought it was 50% off all tap beer/wine + $5 off pizzas but the waiter just advertised $2 off drinks - I asked additionally about the pizza and he then did clarify it's still $5 off. Disappointed about it no longer being 50% but just wish it was advertised more clear on social media/at the restaurant/online. Anyways, the restaurant is very cute and I like the shaded outdoor area. We ordered some wine, beer, and pizzas. My fiancé enjoyed the beers and my wine was not very good but the cheapest glass so I wasn't expecting much. We ordered Price's House and the fig & prosciutto pizza - both were $19 which is not crazy expensive but Price's House imo is overpriced. The crusts are thin and crispy on these pizzas if that's your style. Price's house was pretty average, salty from the salami, not enough mozzarella (some pieces didn't have any), not much flavor to it. The pizza is not bad by any means but nothing special and overpriced imo. Could get better pizza elsewhere for that price. The Fig & Prosciutto was OUTSTANDING. So much flavor, sweet and salty, fresh from the arugula, all-around 10/10. Would recommend this one to anyone debating which pizza I would have rated this place a 3/5 but that fig & prosciutto pizza really carried it home and made it seem like they have pretty good food and I just ordered the wrong thing. We've been coming here weekly for the past four months and always enjoyed the service--until tonight. We came in for happy hour as usual and confirmed the pricing with our server before ordering. He told us everything was valid (aside from pizza), so we ordered accordingly. When the bill came, the pricing didn't match. The manager then told us happy hour hasn't existed past 7PM for six months--which makes no sense given our consistent visits--and even their Instagram still advertises it until 8PM. Instead of resolving the confusion, she responded with attitude and claimed she had been "taking care of us" previously, which was never communicated. Disappointing experience overall. Not because of the bill, but the lack of accountability and poor hospitality. We won't be back. read more

I'm only giving 2 stars because I initially did LOVE this place. This was actually my favorite restaurant to the point of having my 30th birthday dinner here w my fam(not a birthday vibe). However, today was probably the worst restaurant experience I've ever had in my life. Although I'm familiar with wine and wood's happy hour, our decision to go here tonight was due to the "Hoppy Hour" app which highlights the $10 tap wines, $2 off beer/wine, and $5 off pizza. Being that the restaurant doesn't display their HH menu (conveniently) I checked with one of the servers (particularly the one that wears a hat) and asked to verify the happy hour I was reading online to which he responded that everything looked correct with the exception of the pizza. My fiancé and I were fine with his answer and even topped our wines off at 7:50 to take full advantage of the HH (obvi). We received the bill with only 2 drinks marked as happy hour price. My fiancé disputed the bill due to the happy hour prices they have listed on not only their socials but also online (see attached photos; HH was pinned to their insta from 10/). The girl server then continued to state that she has "taken care of us every other time we've been here" that's interesting considering every time we have been here, they greet our table as if they have never met us. Which is the basics of hospitality-- greeting your regulars!!!! On top of that we've never been charged full price during HH or have been notified that their HH expired 6 months ago (found this spot 4 months ago). Never once did they explain that a courtesy had been extended prior. I'm fully aware that the owners/staff do no care if we return-- clearly. You see, if a place springs for the costly cauliflower crust- my friends will eat it too. They don't want the regular peasant pizza and they CAN eat gluten! The Dave's Supreme is truly supreme. Oh those crispy edges and heavy toppings with stringy melted cheese are perfectly paired with a huge pour wine flight. Perfect cauliflower crust parings include... any wine on this vast menu! This spot is definitely a cute hidden gem. There's outside seating, bar seating, and some table options. Definitely a very cozy intimate setting, can see it get crowded and or a tight squeeze the more people that check this spot out. All the staff members seem to work together & they were all so friendly and accommodating. As someone who is temporarily pescatarian for lenten season, this spot is great for any of my vegetarian folks. Majority if not all the apps were vegetarian. There was was not a single app that me and my girlfriend ordered and tried that we did not throughly enjoy. As a goat cheese lover, the goat cheese dip was my absolute favorite. First time at Wine & Wood for an office happy hour! We had a couple tables put together for us right at the entrance. I do feel like more people from our office showed up than usual for our happy hour so we took up quite a bit of space as this is not a large and spacious location. They did open up the garage door so it added some space and weather was immaculate. I did see a dog or two in their outdoor space! Parking was also kind of tough but we made it work haha We ordered some apps to share, but I wanted to try a pizza. Went a bit adventurous with the cauliflower crust but I was not disappointed! I love the crispy crust and salty prosciutto on a pizza. ALSO truffle oil?! Just wow! Would order this again. I also had the white sangria. I love that it had actual pieces of fruit. And wood fired oven pizza comes out quick which is also a huge plus. I loved their wine selection (a couple of my friends got the wine flight to sample a few!) Wine & Wood is within the Hyde Park area and a walking distance from my friend's apartment, so we stopped by before Taylor Swift concert. We shared a 3 Cheese Prosciutto as well as Blue Cheese Cauliflower. The 3 Cheese Prosciutto came out pretty swiftly, always love the saltiness from the Prosciutto...def. have a love affair with it - wiped off the extra oil om the top of the pizza. The Buffalo Blue Cheese Cauliflower had lots of Blue Cheese, a little too salty for me, which makes me think that they added extra salt when it wasn't necessary since Blue Cheese is rather salty anyways. Wine and wood is a cute little hidden gem restaurant. It's easy to miss as it's attached to a Chade bank and is not very big, but once you find it, you'll realize you've been missing out! Wine and wood probably has the best charcuterie board I've tried so far. The meats, the cheeses and jams just all pair so nicely together and there wasn't a cheese I didn't like on the board. We also got pizza which was amazing! The menu isn't extensive but I think it's meant to be like that so the focus is really only on wine, charcuterie and pizza. One of my best friends had a first date at this cute and chic restaurant, so my roommate and I decided to crash it half way through and sit near her table to spy on her. LOL. Came in on a Saturday eve around 6:45pm and snagged 2 seats at the already full bar. The space is smallish- the building is an old Subway that shares a wall with the Chase bank on Swann & S Howard. The Fruitwood Standup market peeps from the building next door are adding to their brand with Wood & Wine- this establishment is of their doing. But what a lovely redo of a former Subway! Brick facade, rustic touches with decor (think: colored mason jars and Edison bulbs, wood accents) and light fixtures, friendly bartenders. We ordered the Justin charcuterie board (it was good) and the Procuitto & Cheese pizza (also quite good): I had a glass of the sparkling rose and my friend had a peach Perrier. Overall, everything was solid. True, the young man who delivered our board had no idea what was on it Me: "what's on this?" Him: "crackers, umm... cheese?" The gent who runs the wood fire oven stepped in (he was an OG at fruitwood-) and have some specifications. Overall, we had a lovely hour and a half with nice music & ambiance. Glad we went! read more
