    Pork Jagerschnitzel
    Tim C.

Stopped by on a Saturday night and surprised we got in right away. Normally this place is packed. Service was friendly and quick and our schnitzel came out quickly. I had the Zigeuner schnitzel. It had a spicy white sauce with peppers and onions. It had a touch of heat but not too spicy. It was very good. I had spaetzle and warm German potato salad as my sides. The warm potato salad was a nice blend of sour and savory with some bacon. That sauce was perfect to dunk my spaetzle in as well!! Others had jaeger schnitzel and sour cream schnitzel. Also as big as the plate with 2 sides. Hot and delicious. Atmosphere is nice. Only downside is the price of all the extras they have. They have gotten pretty overpriced over the years. We used to grab some treats on the way out but too expensive. Great meal!

3 day food diary while visiting Tampa. We always stop in at Mr. Dunderbak's for German food and beer.. a great combo for sure! So much personality in this place.. it really is a must see. And the accordion player was a great added touch. But the food.. it's so so good! Pirogies, potato pancakes, house made apple sauce, cabbage salad, schnitzel, pork chops, sausages and pretzel bread are just a few amazing choices.. and all full of flavor and so very yummy. My choice of beer was a dark lager but they also have a great variety of non alcoholic beers as well! Go. Enjoy! Thank me later...

    Spatzle and Wilted Spinach Salat

One of my favorite places to get German food in the Tampa Bay Area. Recently tried their spatzle with jager sauce and I was impressed with how rich the sauce was. Always get the Wilted Spinach salad with a schnitzel on top which always hits the spot. Their latkes are also something to try while you're here

Transport to Germany! This place blew my expectations out of the water. There are 3 separate rooms and bar areas. The interior decor is spot-on. They have kegs lining the entry. There is an assortment of German treats you can buy to take home. We enjoyed the potato pancakes and pretzel with cheese and mustard. The pork jagerschnitzel was so crispy and juicy, with a perfect gravy over top. The warm German potato salad on the side was delightful with a strong vinegar flavor. The spatzle with jager gravy was just what I was craving! The service was great, as well, our dishes came out super quickly. Overall, I'd recommend this place without hesitation!

There is celebrated history for my family aligning with German culture as my oldest daughter was born in Bavarian Germany. So naturally, we try our best to find the local German cuisine and festivities everywhere that we travel and live. Luckily for us, we discovered Mr. Dunderbak's, which wasn't incredibly too far from Lutz. We came mid-afternoon on a Sunday and the parking lot was full - fortunately, we were able to find some spots without waiting too long. As it was the end of September, Mr. Dunderbak's also hosted some Oktoberfest observations and festivities. This meant a bit of a wait for our family of four to be seated inside, but it was worth it! As you walk up to the restaurant, you are greeted with the unique Bavarian-esque calligraphy of its name in bold, golden hue. There was still outdoor seating available when we went in the form of tables and benches that situated in the parking spaces in front of the venue. Approaching the entrance, you will encounter a set of oaken doors that set the stage for your welcome. The doors then open up to a short corridor that which is adorned with wall hangings and lined with cases of beer along its walls, while the incandescent lighting contribute to the tone and ambiance of the restaurant before opening up to the immersive dining space. Immediately, we were reminded of our time spent living in Germany, as well as our travels to Austria. The noise-level was definitely suited for the space and environment that you find at a Biergarten. While the lighting was somewhat dim, the atmosphere was lively and vibrant which didn't rely on the light musical faire playing in the backdrop. There was a playful arrangement of seating areas - from biergarten benches and tables to formal tables with even a dining table under a gazebo centered in the dining space - making Mr. Dunderbak's even more festive. Flanking either side of the main dining space were two smaller rooms, with a full bar. What makes Mr. Dunderbak's even more unique is the mini-store that lines around the main dining space, along with a fully operational deli, offering an assortment of German meats/sausages and groceries (comparable to the Cracker Barrel concept, but better and without the negative media). As for the food, we definitely were able to satisfy our German-cuisine cravings. The menu was rather robust offering a variety of schnitzels and wursts (yes, they have currywurst), while offering a unique American flare with their other menu items. While I did not get any beer to accompany my meal, my wife ordered a Radler - and a grapefruit one at that - which arguably made her day. The jagerschnitzel, sauerkraut, and potato salad were solid, while the nurnberger (wursts) and spatzle were a hit with my kids. Overall, we had a great experience at Mr. Dunderbak's and will definitely be back again. This is a great place to go with groups and to simply enjoy company! Prost!

Dunderbak's is a whole dining experience and one you won't want to miss! It's like dining inside a beer hall and German grocery store at the same time - and the foods good! Schnitzel bigger than the plate? Sign me up! I know they have other things on the menu but I still order it every time.

German food may not be my go-to, but if you're telling me we're going here I'm getting ready so fast this spot is awesome. I tried the beer cheese soup, Zig schnitzel with the "spicy" sauce (imo it's not really spicy... maybe "white ppl spicy"), beer, and a "framboise" drink that tasted exactly like raspberries (framboise means raspberry in French). I loved that they had a shop with European & ethnic goodies, too. I saw my favourite plum spread in there :) Deffo would come here again!

This is one of the best places to eat in Tampa! I've been coming here for years. The food is fantastic the servers are very knowledgeable about all of the beers and food and always have great suggestions, and the atmosphere is impossible to beat. This is my favorite restaurant so I might be alittle bias. This place is bussin!

    Delicious Pork Jagerschnitzel! :)

Definitely some of the best German food around! Love that it is merging of restaurant, bar, and market. Truly the best of all worlds. The portion sizes are excellent. I got the German Pork Schnitzel and it was fantastic! It covered the whole plate. Light and crispy, yet tender on the inside, it pairs perfectly with the many German beers they have on tap. The side dishes of braised red cabbage and spaetzle was the perfect side dish pairing. The tartness of the cabbage cut through the richness of the pork while the delicious spaetzle was the perfect textural contrast to the pork. Overall, excellent place I would come back to! Just know it can get crowded on the weekends, making it hard to get a table at times :)

My husband and I had lunch here on Veterans Day. The food, service and atmosphere never disappoint. I love their respect shown to veterans on that special day. Jose was an excellent server. We could tell he had some regulars there. And we can never leave without about $50 worth of snacks, candy and chocolate.

The food was really good. The inside of the space is well decorated and feels like you've entirely transformed across the globe to eat German food. The service is really fast. They're super attentive and if it does feel like the service is a little slow be super patient because there is only a handful of people working there. The menu is super cool because it's German and English together. My friends and I all came and we sat at their long tables, it didn't feel cramped, but it felt very lively. There is an accordion player playing live music throughout the night and also they're doing a Oktoberfest raffle so the attendance inside felt very high as everybody is enjoying their beers and their schnitzels.

Ambiance is like being transported to Germany! Our server was great and food always comes out right away and hot. Well, as you can tell this is one of our go to spots. The food is always excellent and you get a lot of it! Prices are reasonable, maybe more than, since you get so much food. We love, love, love Mr. Dunderbaks!!! Definitely give it a try! Trust me you won't be disappointed!

Do they have other spirits than beer?

    I don't think so.

Do you sell sausages to use at home?

Yes they do!! Excellent selections of sausages, deli meats, cheeses, curry ketchups, German mustards, chocolates, and more.

    Do they have knodels?

Not on the main menu. But the owner is there daily and they have done special requests in the past. Call ahead or ask for JB for special items.

It's that crisp on the outside that I love. I get it without the tomatoes and no mayo. Next time I'll ask for no crispies as well. I like it just it plain, perfect amount of salty is just my favorite. This place is the best place for Brussel sprouts. I also like to get the breaded cod here I've never had it better anywhere. It tastes & looks like real fresh cod. It is not shiny or glossy like frozen cod. This is the real deal fresh breaded cod. This is a real legit British food. The service is spectacular especially for a downtown bar. This restaurant is very clean. All the staff are just super friendly and they don't rush you at all. Just very sweet wholesome people staffed here. The food here is way better than Yard House 10 out of 10. However, Yard House does have the best onion rings. That's the only thing that I get there with the beer cheese cause that's the only thing that's good there. The only thing I like at Yard House are the onion rings other than that I think the rest of the food is worse than going to Chili's. Yeoman's also has TV screens and the people that come here are not as sleazy as the ones that go to Yard House. Very different clientele thank goodness. This place does not give me the heebie-jeebies when I come in here. The men here are normal and they don't flock the girls like they do at Yard House ICK. Thank goodness for a wholesome sports bar like Yeoman's!!

I enjoyed the food. Drinks...meh....not impressed. I'm very surprised being under the same entity as Morgan's Cove, that the beverage consistency was NOT the same, which I can't understand. The establishment as a whole is REALLY impressive! They have pool tables, arcades, digital golf and more. It would be a great spot to kick it if you had a large group of people. Service was average. Take your order, bring you your items, then on to the next person. I made it clear that I wasn't happy with the drinks and was suggested to try a different one, which I also didn't like. There was no discount, or removal offered for the items on my bill that I KINDLY explained that I didn't enjoy (nor that looking for) the offer would have been appreciated. All-In-All this is a rare place, where I won't come back to...at least this portion of the entity. My advice...consistency is the key for one entity. My first 3 Stars!

A bartender greeted me and gave me water. For my drink, I took the chocolate old fashioned (13 dollars). It was strong enough and chocolatly to enjoy. For my main plate, I chose the chicken wings (10 for 17 dollars), half fat rabbit sauce (quite garlicky) and other half siracha. While the wings were not breaded, they were still fried. It was definitely crispy, but still meaty and tender. The sauces were flavorful, and the siracha had the right amount of heat. The ranch dressing was homemade and so good, I ended up drinking it. There could have been more celery, but it was fresh and crispy. They only had one dessert, and unfortunately it wasn't homemade, so I passed. My bartender was friendly, but busy. She had a helper, but lots of patrons to serve. Yet, she was still very nice and helpful when needed. The vibe is social and casual. I would have thought they would have more USF students, but mostly locals who are enjoying a good atmosphere. Outdoor seating is available as well, and it looks like you can bring your pooch too. When it was time to check out and pay, I noticed they forgot to charge me for my drink. When I mentioned that, they told me not to worry about it. It was a very nice gesture from them. Parking here is easy as it is located in the Publix complex. There is also a Don Julio's and Bundt Cakes nearby for dessert too. The Fat Rabbit pub provides great casual bar food in a social atmosphere. The indoor dining is large enough to feel comfortable, and outdoor seating is also there if you want to enjoy with your dog. I am glad I chose this place again as it was near my hotel. Definitely coming back for more great bar food at reasonable prices. Overall: A
