We were looking for a chill spot with live music during our day trip to Fire Island, and Sandbar…read moredelivered exactly what we wanted! Laid-back, lively, and totally unique. The minute we walked in, we felt transported to a Key West-inspired oasis. The vibe at Sandbar is everything you want in a beach bar ... veteran watering hole energy, live music playing, and a crowd that's having the best time. If you're into quirky décor, you'll love the hundreds of colorful flip flops hanging from the ceiling, each one signed by past patrons. It's fun to look up and read what previous visitors have written. There are even surfboards and nautical treasures everywhere, making the spot truly one-of-a-kind. We came especially for the famous Rocket Fuel ... if you've never had one, you're missing out! Rocket Fuel is a frozen, creamy concoction featuring pina colada mix, amaretto, and rum (usually topped with a float of 151). It's the quintessential Ocean Beach drink: frosty, sweet, a little indulgent, and just strong enough to get you in island mode without derailing your afternoon! We grabbed our Rocket Fuels, settled in, and enjoyed the vibes. The live music was awesome and kept the energy up with beachy classics and crowd favorites. Even in the afternoon, Sandbar was buzzing but never felt overcrowded or hectic. From friendly bartenders and great drinks, I look forward to returning here for a fun evening with my friends.

Very disappointed at the food here. Although the drinks were awesome, I don't recommend the food. The wings were good and so was the rigatoni but the mussels and lobster burgers were way too fishy tasting. The baby back ribs had no flavor. It was recommended by the waiter and we regret getting it. I enjoyed the bread with the mussel sauce more than any of the dishes we ordered. The strawberry drink was the best. The Pina colada and their famous drink was ok. The price was super expensive for not good food.

We are vacationing in Ocean Bay Park this weekend. We love Fire Island, the quiet, calm feel and…read morethe beaches. We come here often, this is our 1st stay in this particular town... My friend and I decided to visit the Schooner Inn to have some beverages, listen to the music and catch up. We sat at the bar, the age group was mixed and there appeared to be a group celebrating on the dance floor. We were completely ignored by the male and female bartenders. They were not overly busy but did not seem to be at all interested in waiting on us. The vibe coming from the 2 bartenders was odd and we felt very discriminated against. My friend and I stayed to observe their behaviors, we did have a couple of drinks after basically calling them over to ask for service. The female bartender actually came up to the left side of me a put 2 drinks to the left side of my arm and walked away. We couldn't figure out what their issues with us were. I'm a healthcare provider and my friend is a tenured school teacher and we found their behaviors to be completely unacceptable, rude and discriminatory. We certainly were not the youngest women in the restaurant nor the oldest. We were minding our own business and catching up. They made us feel completely uncomfortable and their attitudes were horrible. Those are the type of people that can ruin the entire evening. Because of this experience at the bar I would never recommend this establishment to anyone. The bar staff needs customer service training and attitude adjustments. I seriously don't know who those 2 bartenders think they are but if you don't want to deal with the public find another job.
