I came here with my sister while visiting Ocean Beach extremely hot day in the end end of June. We came in because we saw the advertisement outside for drink specials that we're all day. My sister really wanted to try the zippy we walked in and we saw a bar area with the pool table. Afterwards, we walk to the back and we saw the outdoor area overlooking the bay, which was so beautiful. We sat down and our waitress. Amanda was really sweet. She provided great customer service and the zippy was incredible. I then order the PBR special which was only six dollars for food. I ordered the burger deluxe, which was $18 and came with fries on the side which I thought was a great deal for lunch as well. During the middle of our lunch, Amanda said she had to go to break and transferred our check to Jake. Jake was very nice as well and he informed us of the local Bayshore area and fire Island, which was nice to talk to him about the vibes and the service was great at housers. I know other yelpers and other reviews have said that the service was bad. However, my service was absolutely incredible from Jake and Amanda. This was a fun little spot on fire island. We first got some classic zippys and the inside is old and interesting to say the least. The bathrooms are not great (and they even have a sign that says so...) but they get the job done. The outside patio is really nice though, with tables both in the sand and on concrete. We grabbed some food and it was honestly really good! I got the fish and chips and really enjoyed it. A lot of people at the table got the lobster which was a hit too. For those of us that grew up across the bay frequenting these haunts, we know the drill. This is a bar bar. A seafarers bar. A dingy place to slam Zippys, laugh with friends, play pool, hang out on the sand, and wait in lines for bathrooms. If you want to eat, there are options here. The lobster dinner is a go to, best price point for it in all of OB. Apps are decent enough. But if you're trying to have a sit down with friends, do your research and go somewhere else. If you're looking to have a rip-roaring late night fun time, you've found the right place. I first went to Housers for some drinks with friends. It's a lively bar in Ocean Beach with delicious drinks- don't miss the Zippy!! I recently had dinner hear and was thoroughly impressed! Now, I am allergic to seafood so had the chicken tacos. I can't believe how delicious they were! I went back a second time for them! One of my friends had the lobster special and I can't believe how much lobster they served! It's the best lobster deal on the island! We sat out back with a nice view of the early night sky changing colors. Ordered some drinks that were made well. The waitress was awesome and I wish I knew her name to give her credit. She informed us that the shrimp was sold out. So we're done other items. It was the last day before the place was closing for the season. She stressed that there were lobsters and they were fresh. When my friend took longer than 5 seconds to count our cash to pay for our drinks the bartender proceeded to yell "just give me the 20 asshole." Turns out a Zippy Cooler is a pretty simple and unremarkable cocktail but somehow is perfectly refreshing on a hot day hanging out on the patio. I asked for a new lobster cracker that was clean that didn't have rust and gunk on it and was given another one even more disgusting, they clearly don't wash them and don't care if their guests consume rust. The bartender here refused to serve me and my 5 25-26 year old friends because our IDs are from out of state. When we questioned him he screamed at us and demanded we get out of the bar. I grew up going to FI since I was younger so I get the people, area etc. Foods kinda overpriced like the whole area, just get something basic if you need to eat there. One of the bartenders was a dick to me when I tried to order a drink, having me wait for over 10 minutes while he looked over at me 4 times in the process while talking to idiots in popped collars. The bar stools were lined with locals and staffers from town, I know because i spoke to lots of them over the course of our time on the island.The inside barely had anyone there (not a weekend) (sad trombone) - We were charged for some of the weakest, zero alcohol mixed drinks since I was forced to go to TGI fridays with my mom around christmas visiting LI. Sorry bad music blasting bartender dude, i'm not a tourist and i'm pretty sure you don't live on the island year round so that makes you a non-local as well. I slung drinks for 2 years at a dive and know patrons order boozey drinks and not sherley temples for a reason, they want at least a shot of booze in their drinks. I get it - it sucks when it's a slow start off to the season for you, but if I see you tending bar again next time, you'll be sure when we come back to town with 10 friends next weekend to show them why I Love Fire Island that we're turning around and going elsewhere. It was unfortunate for us to see how horribly they were being treated by some of the customers (especially with how difficult the new COVID regulations are.) This place has lost my patronage. Recently, an acquaintance (a young woman) was groped by a stranger at this establishment. The bartending staff, who clearly saw what happened, didn't ask the harasser to leave. When one of her friends asked the bartender why they didn't see the harasser out, he responded, "I've known him for fifteen years." Well, if you want this type of bar, then it might be good for you. It is essentially a college style dive bar, and it brings with it the clientele that would attract, only on fire island. The bartenders are all upset, due to drunks not being able to count enough $ or pay their bill, the bathroom line is a good 15-20 minute wait, and the people are rude and pushy.
