Small elongated strip mall restaurant which can be easily missed, unless you're looking for it. This spot has been open for less than a year but has made some headway with Yelpers as you can see. Chef Dee, who's originally from El Salvador, has taken on a menu, which features both Japanese dishes 7 & Italian fare, plus steaks. which placed me in a quandary, because I wanted to try everything on the menu, forcing me to play "eenie meenie miney moe" with the menu. I fortunately opted for Italian, starting with clams casino which were good, but not necessarily the best that I've ever had.. the clams were a bit on the small side but, adequately garlicky and tasty. Somehow I was fixated on clams ....for my entrée opted for the linguine vongole , sautéed in white garlicky sauce ; clearly a four and a half to 5 star dish . Special for the evening they offed steak special for $33, but my wife opted for Chef Dee's $23 skirt steak, which they prepared exactly medium-rare as she ordered. It was very flavorful . I ordered a cappuccino which came out of a cappuccino machine, but it was pretty good. There are many things on this menu which appealed to me and I will return. BTW our waiter Arturo was a pleasure to work with, but I have to say he was not being stressed out, since the restaurant was mostly empty on this Monday evening..... considering the menu and the quality of the preparation, I suspect that Chef Dee should have no trouble attracting gourmands like me. read more

Happened upon this place while in the area with a big group. Everything here, and we tried a wide variety, was amazing. The service was excellent and they were comfortable with handling a big party. The sushi (try the lobster bomb) was perfect and the snapper was fantastic. Our group covered the Italian dishes, lobsters, and seafood. Chef Dee, former part owner and mastermind behind the well-established Papa's Raw Bar, finally broke away and opened something of his own, and he did it well. Located in a small and somewhat dated strip mall in Lighthouse Point, this place is where you want to be. A gorgeous sushi bar featured as you walk in and a handful of tables throughout, the set up is almost identical to Fort Lauderdale's Sushi Song. My Mom and I sat at the bar so we could watch the masters at work and ordered a glass of wine, (P.S. only $5); Winning already. Only a few minutes in, we had a decadent looking dish in front of us, "Clams Casino, compliments of the chef." I don't do clams, but I definitely did them. Amazing. My Mom started with some grilled oysters, after craving them since the last time she was there. We continued with the infamous Lobster Bomb and the Hog Fish Franchisee off Francesca, the bartender's, recommendation. Don't think I'm joking when I say we licked our plates. The menu touches just about every area of possible cravings, from sushi and fresh fish, to ribeyes and tortellinis. If I could give this place 10/10 I would. Very quiet with awesome music. Bar seating or table, we chose to sit at a table last night. Rose was our server she was very informative and recommended a few favorites. We shared the tuna tataki very traditional nice see weed salad in the center on the dish. Next we shared the blue ocean roll which is tempora lobster, tuna, seaweed salad with chillian sea bass over top ( all of my favorites in one roll). After the roll we had shrimp cakes that made our taste buds explode. For the main we went with the snapper special set up trio style with sea scallops and shrimp in a lobster sauce and we chose baked potato as our side. The special was out of this world the lobster sauce was so creamy and full of flavor, you could tell chef pored his heart into the dish and all the fish was super fresh. Was about to walk away even though packed and someone outside told us if we liked pappas we would love this place because it's better. We sit at the sushi bar(still having difficulty with the food combos of Italian and sushi), as I like to compartmentalize my food we were having sushi. Menu needs getting used to. Miso soup not on the menu but they made it for me. Ordered three rolls and all stuffed with fish, fresh and good. Not overstuffed with rice like all the rest around here. Pleasantly surprised at the quality of rolls and amount of fish. Chef Dee walked over and introduced himself. Thereafter he sent an app sampler filled with 4 oyster Rockefeller and crab cakes... although I was not sure how to mix those with the half eaten sushi rolls it went surprisingly well. Doesn't look like much when you pull in. So small, you could almost drive righT past. It's a little place tucked in between two other store fronts in a little strip mall. The menu is sufficient- not too much and not too small. The service is friendly, familiar, and treats you like a regular the second you walk in. They take their time to really have a conversation with you and engage. They know their menu in and out and can direct you to feed your craving. We ate and ate and ate some more! The sushi rolls were SOO good... in fact the best we've ever had!!!! The fish to rice ratio was unreal! Such huge chunks of fresh fish rolled up in a thin layer of rice, hand made right in front of you!!! The oysters were fresh, the calamari shrimp salad was delicious and very well prepared.
