First time visiting here. So far, the service has been lovely.

After reading the great reviews, my husband and I decided to check out Yamu. We love Asian cuisine and are always eager to try out new spots. The restaurant is located near the Hillsboro lighthouse in a small strip mall. As parking is only for customers, we pulled right in. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is small but nicely appointed. It's clean and modern, with pretty table settings[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. We were nicely greeted as we entered, and were able to choose our table. The waiter (TJ) was very friendly, making recommendations and promptly getting our drinks and food. He truly made our time there special. The food was delicious. We started with a spider roll. It was fresh and nicely presented. I had the Panang curry with fried tofu. The vegetables were fresh and crispy. My husband enjoyed his duck noodle soup. They gave him lots of meat. As we promised TJ, we will definitely be back. This place is going into the rotation!

    Tom Kha Soup - YUM

Quaint and intimate casual Thai Japanese eatery with only the freshest ingredients and homemade recipes. You'll definitely want to try the Tom Kha soup as well as the Red Curry with Salmon. Both dishes are complex yet delicately balanced and seasoned to perfection. TJ is the most gracious server, and multi-lingual host. So much personality and charm. A truly unique individual.

We didn't realize where this restaurant was located when we set out to come here. But we recognized the small shopping center as a place we'd been to before when we pulled into the lot. It's right along the water just south of the Hillsboro lighthouse. Inside, the restaurant is charmingly decorated. Each place setting has a napkin folded in the shape of a rose flower. The restaurant itself is small. And its family owned and run. Every item is cooked to order. The menu has both Thai offerings and Japanese cuisine. And we had a bit of both. We started with soup. My husband had their tom kha soup with vegetables. He said it was excellent. It was the first time he'd tried this soup with just vegetables. The spice level was "just the right amount of heat". My meal came with a choice of miso or wonton soup and I chose wonton. This was the Thai version with a light, clear broth (not that yellow stuff) and some tender wontons. There were pieces of Bok choy and scallions in it, too. After that, my husband had a salmon and avocado sushi roll. He liked it a lot. And he said the rice was perfectly cooked to hold together. I had their shrimp with mixed vegetables in a brown sauce. There was broccoli, cauliflower, Bok choy, zucchini, et al, along with lots of steamed shrimp. It came with a small bowl of white rice on the side (you could choose brown rice for an upgrade). Service was friendly and welcoming. We'd definitely come back.

Came across this place while visiting the area. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Really small and cozy inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There was one person working the front at the time and he was amazing!! Super friendly and funny! Good was great! It was early in the afternoon so the sushi wasn't available to order but everything else we tried was delicious and great portions! Will definitely be back if in the area again!

EXCEPTIONAL! Wow! Nestled in the retail 'ozone' of zillionaires row with no retail for miles, is a small shopping center where Yamu is located. Incredibly warm wonderful service!! My ice tea was literally filled 4-5 times, the nano second it was at the 1/4 mark!!! I've never had any beverage refilled so fast! Had miso - yum! & pad Thai - another yum! Seems everyone was enjoying their experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]A great touch that deserves special mention is the cuter than a puppy napkins!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] See pix!! I will, absolutely, most definitely come back a million times!!'

One of the best thai places I've been to in Florida. The owners niece is one of the sweetest and most hospitable people I've ever had the pleasure to meet. The duck noodle soup was the best soup I've ever had. This place puts a lot of love into their food and it shows!

Yamu Thai was such a cute little hidden gem!!! The tiny dining room was so cute, tables set with fresh flowers, and plates with napkin florets!!! Our server was so funny, sweet, and accommodating. We loved him!!!! We started with the spicy tuna roll.... Not just your average roll, but each piece loaded with a PILE of tuna!!! My husband's ginger shrimp stir fry was a nice lightly sauced concoction, with bunches of tender shrimp. My beef pad Thai was quite mild, but my server bought some dried chile pepper that really spiced it up!!! All in all, a fantastic lunch, with excellent service!!!

Delicious food and amazing service. My favorite were the Panang Curry and crab rangoons! I would actually drink this curry. They also [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decoration was so cute and I loved the music.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Definitely will come again!

We had a wonderful lunch here…read more They weren't busy when we came in. Just a couple other tables were occupied. One room is the regular dining room, and the other is a huge sushi bar taking up the length of the restaurant. The restaurant is a Korean restaurant with Sushi and Dim Sum and a few other Chinese meals. The regular menu is large. Plus, if you are there during the week, ask for their lunch menu. My husband ordered their sushi bento box from the lunch menu. It came with a house salad with ginger dressing and miso soup to start. The salad was crisp, and he liked the ginger dressing. The miso soup was served hot and had pieces of tofu in it. The bento box had 5 pieces of sushi and a half hamachi roll (he could have also chosen a half tuna instead). He said the fish was very fresh and delicious. I started with an avocado salad -- from the main menu. It had a lot of slices of avocado on top of the lettuce with cucumbers and tomato. There was a vinegar-based dressing on top of the salad. It was good, but I preferred the ginger dressing which I got a bit of on the side. Then I ordered a few items from the Dim Sum section of the menu. I started with their turnip cake. It was perfectly cooked on the outside and soft and creamy inside. It's one of my favorites and usually if they do this one well, then all the others are good. I'd wanted to try their shrimp stuffed eggplant or the crispy shrimp with taro but they didn't have any of these in house. So I had their classic steamed crystal shrimp dumplings. I liked these as well. We had very good and friendly service throughout. We even got a taste of two of their kimchi's as a comp offering. There are a number of Korean dishes and combos with different soups and grilled meats and fishes that we'd like to try. I know we will be back here -- I'm hoping that it is sooner rather than later.

All the fish was very good and they use fresh yellowfin which is a big plus. I also had an appetizer of Korean pork dumplings which were simple and tasty. Unfortunately they didn't have Uni or any of the fish bellies. The chef said they couldn't buy them bc they're brand new and don't have the customers yet. Hopefully they'll speculate soon, bc people aren't going to be happy when they do show us and several top offerings are unavailable. I will definitely be back and I look forward to trying Korean entrees and dim sum soon. Ambience is nice and comfortable.

Parking was easy, with a metered lot conveniently located across the street. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted and requested outdoor seating so we could enjoy the waterfront views and watch the boats pass by. The atmosphere was relaxing, scenic, and definitely one of the highlights of the experience. Our server was friendly, attentive, and had a great personality. Table snacks was a small bowl of popcorn. To start, we ordered a Pearl Bourbon Smash and a Dragon Margarita. The Bourbon Smash was so good that we ordered a second one. The Margarita wasn't my favorite, but I finished it and followed it up with a Sensei Old Fashioned. For our entrees, we ordered the Korean BBQ Bulgogi and the Korean Steak Chimicurri (spelled that way on the menu, so I'm not sure if it was intentional). The Bulgogi portion was generous, and we really wanted to love it, but unfortunately the meat arrived cold. That was disappointing, especially after being told that everything is made from scratch. My husband's entree was served about 10 minutes before mine, which wasn't ideal. Generally, guests dining together should be served at the same time. I encouraged him to start eating so his meal wouldn't get cold, but unfortunately it already was. My steak arrived hot and was cooked slightly more than the medium temperature I requested, leaning closer to medium-well. Despite that, I still enjoyed it. It was served with jasmine rice and maduros, which complemented the dish nicely. Overall, we had a lovely dining experience. The waterfront setting, pleasant service, and enjoyable cocktails made for a great outing. We would definitely consider returning, especially to combine dinner with one of the boat tours. To top it off, our server gave us a bag of cotton candy. I felt like a kid. I haven't eaten cotton candy in years

It was terrible: overcooked, sticky, and completely flavorless. Thankfully the portion was tiny. I gave it a second chance and tried the sushi. I expected a basic combo like every NYC place offers. Even the cheapest NYC takeout spot gives you a container or a handful of packets, not a strict ration. This isn't a fancy restaurant. The espresso martini was not too sweet and not overbearing with the espresso taste which for me felt really smooth going down and enjoyable.
