This primarily take out Jamaican spot has all the classic dishes you expect to find such as brown stew chicken and jerk chicken. Lunch specials are the way to go here and for a very reasonable $6.50 you can get a big portion of some spicy jerked chicken over peas and rice with a little cabbage and carrot on the side and they throw in a can of soda (western beef / store brand) all put together in a good size styrofoam package. They also offer a choice of sweet or spicy sauce. I found the sweet sauce to taste a lot like a sweet bbq sauce. Taste was quite good, but definitely on the spicier side then some comparable Jamaican restaurants I've visited. A co-worker who is Jamaican ate the whole darn box of food and said it was really good and "Like home cooked". I had leftovers, mostly due to the mouth burn. I woke up absolutely craving jerk chicken last week so I went on Yelp to find a place by me. Although a small establishment.... The flavors are big! I ordered the curried chicken and also the jerk chicken. Top shelf!! Both dishes were a good large size, tender and juicy. The side of sautéed vegetables was lovely and delicious (cabbage, carrots, peas and corn) My husband and I go to jamaica often (not often enough!) and this will definitely be our "go to" place when we're missing our home away from home. I didn't meet Elvis, but the girl at the front counter was delightful on the phone and in person when I got there to pick up my order. The food is exceptional I can't even begin to explain. I ordered a large ackee and saltfish and it was more than large . Incredible portion size and it's not expensive either . Chef Elvis food is amazing!! He catered an event for my grandmothers centennial and we had about 100 people. First he delivered on time!! The weather was horrendous that day and he still was there at the exact time we agreed too. Each tray was filled to the brim with food and he had jerk sauce in containers. Food is a bit overpriced for the size and quality. Ordered a large oxtail and jerk chicken. The dish was mostly rice, not much meat for a large size. It also only came with 2 pieces of plantains, I'm wondering how much would have came with the small then? The sea moss juice was horrible, would not recommend that. Oh my. By far the best jerk chicken I've had. This place is on point. Food is fresh. Flavors are remarkable. Better than other Caribbean restaurants in the area. Definitely a hidden gem in the Freeport Baldwin area. 10x better than Spices and tropical jerk on Grand Ave. the only downside to this place is the fact that the there is no dine in experience. I will never spend my money at this place again. I placed an order on uber eats that consisted of 3 meals. Each meal was supposed to come with plantains and soda. I receive the food, opened the bag.... no plantains, no soda. I call the establishment and spoke to someone named "Kim". She said she told the driver to get the soda and he didn't. Ok... and what happened to the plantains? She tells me they're finished. I explain to her that I would like to have what I paid for. She said " How are you going to get it?" I told her that I'll wait for her to figure it out. Why would I go get it when I paid for this to be delivered and it's not the uber eats drivers job to prepare my bag. It's his job to deliver. He delivered. She then went off on a tangent telling me that there's no need for my attitude. Ummmm..... yes there is. I paid for items that I didn't receive. Thats something she should have understood. I asked to speak with a manager or the owner. She hung up on me. I called back and spoke with someone named "Nigel". Nigel who wasn't a manager or the owner was no help and just as much of an idiot. To the owner: You might not want to employ these rude and incompetent people, especially without supervision. Chef Elvis knows what he's doing when it comes to Jamaican food! I have to admit that I never stepped foot in the restaurant to see what it looks like so my review is based solely on delivery take-out. The food is always flavorful and perfectly salted. The stews are great with the meat falling off the bone. The plantains are deliciously ripened and the vegetable cabbage on the side is not over cooked. I hope to get to see the place soon. read more

Mom and I came in about 1130am on 10/8/14 for an early lunch. Not much was ready so we opted for the curry chicken. All I can say is HHHOOOTTT DDDDAAAANNNGGG ! Chef Elvis is the bomb.
