We walked in without a reservation at 11:15 on a Friday and were the first customers of the day. Great decor, dim lighting, vintage looking furniture which does not sacrifice comfort for artistry. Our cocktails and meals were spectacular: Botanist Fashioned: 5/5-the brown sugar cinnamon syrup added a spicy bite to each sip which was unexpected and fun. Watermelon Sugar High:4/5-refreshing with watermelon juice freshly made in house and an ice cube with mint frozen in it. Seared cauliflower: 4/5-great appetizer for 2. The crispy chicken sandwich and the Botanist smash burger:5/5-Both had super flavorful pickles and toasted buns which always add a lovely crunch to each bite. The entire evening felt like a social experiment where everyone involved was pretending to operate a fine dining restaurant while waiting to see if customers would notice. From the moment we stepped into Chef Lino's Prime, we knew we were in for a treat. We were greeted warmly and seated right away, setting the tone for an impeccable evening. Our waitress - whose name escapes me but whose service was flawless - guided us through an unforgettable meal. We began with a cucumber jalapeno margarita, perfectly balanced with refreshing cucumber, a hint of heat, and a Tajin rim that tied it all together. It was like sipping on a perfect blend of spice and refreshment. Then came the Cajun butter shrimp with pita slices appetizer - fresh, bursting with flavor, and paired with a dipping sauce that had us savoring every bite. I can confidently say it's the best shrimp I've ever had. Our main course was the braised short ribs with garlic mashed potatoes and a side of asparagus, which was pure comfort on a plate. Every bite was tender and rich, a true 10/10. Beyond the food, the ambiance is refined and elegant, perfect for a date night, prom, or any special occasion. My husband and I came in for dinner this evening and had the sweetest blonde waitress. The decor of the restaurant was beautiful and a huge improvement from when the building used to be Wiki's. We were seated near this area of booths and had the unfortunate experience of having to listen to this older man completely berate one of the waitresses. The only part I really overheard was him telling her "when I call you over you need to listen to me." This is America in 2025. Waitresses and people in the food industry have enough going on and if you go out to eat to treat people like they are beneath you then maybe you should stay home. Nevertheless, my husband and I had delicious food and wonderful service and I hope the management and owners do something about customers who berate and yell at their staff. This man should be embarrassed for how he talked to that poor girl. We will be returning as the food was exemplary, and hopefully won't be near any other discourteous patrons. read more

I was in town visiting some friends and had the pleasure of eating at Chef Lino's Prime last night. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the sweetest brunette hostess and were seated promptly. Our waitress Victoria recommended the cucumber jalapeno margaritas, and they were delicious! I got the pork belly lasagna which was so incredible words can't even explain it. It is a pretty popular location, and there were plenty of people during the time we were there. We were seated in a booth and even recognized people in the table next to us! The interior design is very similar to their other location. Very chic, modern, and clean. I ordered The Girlfriend burger which had a Wagyu patty with arugula, horseradish, grilled onions, bacon jalapeño jam, gorgonzola, and creamy garlic aioli with a side of their regular fries. The presentation was great, but the flavor packed into this burger was incredible. The sweetness from the jam paired with the creaminess of the aioli blended together so well! I love pickles, so I was happy to see a pickle spear on the board as a nice touch. The fries were perfectly seasoned and were a nice mix between wedge fries and regular fries. So if you're stuck trying to decide on a burger from Sonder, I'd recommend this one!

Sliced tomatoes were too thinly sliced. Mashed potatoes lacked flavor and fluffiness. Muscato wasn't sweet enough and in fact tasted like a white Pinot gregio- dry and light. Ambience was a modern design being used currently, modernish chairs, curved upholstered booths, lots of natural light coming in during the day. Light fixtures modern hanging from ceiling.

We have tried every teppanyaki restaurant in town, and Tokyo Garden stands out by far. The food is always phenomenal, and the portions are huge--yet somehow, we still manage to eat every last bite! You definitely don't want to miss their incredibly tender steak or delicious fried rice. Their sushi rolls are amazing too! Between the wonderful food, generous portions, and warm, family-like atmosphere, no other place compares. We always leave happy, full, and looking forward to our next visit!

With these prejudices in mind, I went with my husband to only get cocktails, expecting something pricey but hopefully good. I was so pleasantly surprised by my time there! We ordered two cocktails and one appetizer, the chorizo croquettes. The chorizo croquettes are served in five pieces, a perfectly shareable size for two people, just a few bites, but holy moly are they good. Presentation IS a big priority for all the dishes, and everything on the menu has creative twists on familiar dishes, so you can be sure they have a unique culinary identity. I can tell that the servers have pretty good synchronicity and communication and this place is blessedly NOT understaffed. Everyone there seems to take a lot of pride in the food and the service, and I really enjoyed talking to their head bartender. Attention to details here is immaculate. Overall it's incredibly impressive. Even though buying dinner was not in our budget, I think I'm going to have to come back here for a special occasion, when I'm prepared to drop like $400 on a dinner for five people. It's unusual to find a high end dining experience in Bakersfield that's actually worth the price. My stomach yearns for what my wallet cannot support.
