*Dinner buffet review* We came here for a dinner buffet to celebrate one of my boys's birthday. It wasn't too hard getting a reservation, I just had to keep checking via the Disney app. I notified we were there for a birthday and they noted it down upon arrival. Dinner buffet is relatively pricey at $60 per adult. It definitely is not comparable with the buffets in Vegas but I guess you get to meet most of the Disney characters. Kids under 2 are free. Wide selection of dinner options were available, ranging from Asian, Italian and also American. Kids were pretty happy with their selections. Characters came around during the dinner service. There were 5 of them when we were there. You could take pictures with them with no hassles at all. It is definitely worthwhile if your kids are into Disney characters. The staff also came around with a cupcake and lit candle to wish a happy birthday. The dessert was probably my favourite part. Wide selection which included a DIY sundae and toppings. There were also these bite size cheesecakes which were really tasty. Order your Uber/Taxi back earlier than usual if you are not staying at the contemporary resort. We ended up waiting 20 minutes for our Uber. read more

This is a go-to for any first time in Disney World. This was the first restaurant we went to, and quite frankly a very satisfying and delicious introduction to the restaurants offered by Disney. Located in the Contemporary Resort which housed a few stores that were great to cruise around while our table was being ready, Chef Mickey's went to great lengths to ensure our dinner was an amazing experience. The buffet was excellent: we all tried the prime rib, (perfectly cooked, I might add), homemade mashed potatoes and turkey gravy, a salad bar, bacon and cheddar soup, the list goes on. To complete the meal, they also offered delicious desserts such as lemon/strawberry cake, chocolate cheesecake, and Minnie and Donald cupcakes. All of the house cocktails were well balanced and complimented our meals. They also included a guide of what foods were allergy friendly. If you were wondering, the meal and cocktails (I believe the other drinks were as well) were included in our dining plan, making the experience well-worth it. The characters also made appearances throughout the night, and we took memorable pictures as well as had a great time as a family. Around the restaurant, the kids who were there were having the time of their lives, dancing and interacting with the Disney mascots. The staff were also very friendly and ensured each character visited each table. They were very patient with our group, and were always checking up on us. Took our keikis to character dining for dinner the 1st night. Obviously you physically can't go next to characters but it's closer than they do at the park. Buffet style is no more, they bring out portions to you and you just request more of something you liked. Characters were Mickey, Minnie, Donald Duck, Goofy, & Pluto. Food was surprisingly very good. Chef Mickey's located in the Disney's Contemporary Resort and it's is a buffet restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The main entertainment here is you can meet all iconic characters. The food is good. Very common from a buffet. You can find salads, soup, fruits, and a charcuterie board. There's salmon, pot roast, and steak you can combine with rice, mashed potatoes or Mac and cheese. There's also a dessert station. I think it's a great experience. The characters go table by table interacting with everyone, taking pictures and playing around. If you wanted to meet the same characters in the park it'd be hours long lines. Best place ever my child has a wonderful experience crazy to goo again, I love it for adults is a nice experience too

We have been here before for dinner character dining pre-COVID and enjoyed it. This time it was all you can eat, but servers bring the food to your table back in February 2022. The food selections is great and very tasty and fresh. The children even had great options. The characters came by to our seating area many times and very accommodating to distant photo opportunities. Our server was so friendly, she made us feel so special on our first night of our WDW vacation. The cost is on par with any WDW character dining experience. Highly recommend Chef Mickey's. read more

When I was reading the reviews I was a little bit skeptical of if it was worth it? After getting there I realized that it seemed to be a very happy environment. My toddler knew immediately that she was walking into a Mickey experience . The characters were very interactive while keeping their distance. I wish the hostess would let us know where Mickey and friends would stand to make pictures better but it's pretty easy to figure out quickly so not much of a big deal. Price wise it was pretty decent. The food is typical diner food. This is by no means a high end cuisine. But very good food.All you can eat but served family style at your table. It's hard for me to write a review because the smile on my kids faces every time the characters came out made the entire experience worth it!!!!! It was the only character dining we were able to obtain during our Disney trip. Now for the food... They went from being a buffet to a service restaurant that is all you can eat and it is served to you. The food was horrible. The only items that were good were the mushroom gnocchi, the carrots, and the oreo cakes for dessert. My son basically ate only Broccoli for dinner since he didn't enjoy any of the other options. It was a very expensive dinner.. with very little enjoyable options. I hate to say it but I might consider trying this out for breakfast in the future (hard to mess that up), but never dinner again. read more

Quick, clean, tasty, AND you can meet Mickey and his crew! What more could you ask for?! For a buffet style restaurant you get to eat all you want and the food is always hot and tastes amazing. The shrimp was my favorite, tender, sweet and cool just the way it should be. The roast was cooked evenly and tender. They even have kid friendly choices like Mac and Cheese, pasta, veggies, chicken fried or roasted. It was good. The dessert table was great! All the different tasty treats to try! The little chef Mickey cake was great! Not to mention how cute are all the desserts! The chocolate mousse Mickey dessert?! For ambiance it's family fun here. Over Priced Character Dinner, certainly not worth $62 per adult and $39 per child. They advertise a carving station but there is only 1 meat and fortunately for some of us in my party it was beef as none of us eat pork but unfortunately for some of us who do not eat beef there was nothing else. There was roast chicken legs that looked dried I didn't even bother. Basically the choices were not many. Kids ate mac and cheese. Four characters came by for pics. Lady at front check-in refused to check our family in a little early so we could comfortably make our flight. I know this is an easy accommodation for them to make... I saw it available on her iPad and have had it done at other Disney restaurants. We ultimately had to wait over 45 minute before seated for our reservation despite telling us we were on a priority list. Once inside, they have converted from full table service to buffet as it was pre-covid. There are much better restaurants on Disney properties for a good, breakfast character experience. read more

Recently made a visit to Chef Mickey's all-you-care-to-eat breakfast for the first time. Though it was once a buffet, COVID times have restructured the experience to presently being served family-style. Characters are present during the meal, though modifications to how they interact with guests are in place to promote social distancing and safety. Though Chef Mickey's is one of the classic, OG character dining experiences on property many from my generation (and before) may have enjoyed in our youth, it missed the mark for my husband and me with respect to food and the character experience during this first-time visit. It felt very dated and we expected a little more, especially with the restaurant being housed at one of the Deluxe, monorail properties. Chef Mickey's is located in Disney's Contemporary Resort on the same floor as the gift shops and monorail entrance. It is currently one of the few character dining experiences open on property right now. If you are considering coming here because of the character dining opportunity, keep in mind that to maintain social distancing, characters are NOT presently stopping at individual tables. Rather, they will pose in various spots around the room, face your table, and take some selfies from a far with your party. The mini-dance/performances that intermittently took place during character dining are still present, but children are not allowed to come up to dance or parade around the room with the characters anymore. The food served was very much a typical American continental breakfast you may encounter at an off-property hotel: rolls, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes, and mickey waffles. Their signature offerings for this location included a slow-roasted Beef Brisket, "Loaded" Potato-Cheese Casserole, and Banana Bread French Toast. The slow-roasted Beef Brisket was very tough to chew and the Banana Bread French Toast (that many have raved about) was literally just banana bread shaped like toast. The Potato-Cheese Casserole was a homerun, especially with that crispy cheese Mickey head. The other standard breakfast items were good, but was it it good enough to justify a $42 price tag coupled with the subpar character experience? Ehhh...(I understand the Disney price and don't mind it, but I have to call it what it is when the food and experience really doesn't meet the Disney standard.). Food is all-you-care to eat, so your server will bring you more of whatever you want until you're stuffed! The saving grace of our experience were the Cast Members (CMs). Our server and the manager on duty at the time made out visit to Chef Mickey's magical. We were celebrating my husband's birthday and our server went above and beyond to make him feel special by bringing out various birthday surprises for him from the kitchen. I had also lost my magic band en route to the Contemporary and the manager on duty at Chef Mickey's extended major pixie dust to ensure I had one for the rest of my vacation. If you are coming in tow with the little ones, Chef Mickey's could be a good dining choice for little mouseketeers to meet the Fab Five. However, know that there are other character dining experiences on property that will get you more for your buck. If you do decide to visit Chef Mickey's I recommend pairing it on a day you're visiting Magic Kingdom since it's an easy hop on the monorail (or short walk) to the park. As of our visit in March 2021, there were still no dining plans being offered but they were giving an Annual Pass discount. read more

Another great experience for food! Let me begin by saying that planning your reservations is important, and I 100% recommend character dining if you have children. Having the luxury to eat delicious food and the look on your child's face when Mickey or Goofy approach your table is simply an awesome feeling! Customer service was awesome, and our waiter made sure we always had food and that our drinks were filled. The server was amazing "KO" but the management complete dog shit. Food looked great I didn't eat though. Note to anyone going there. Even if you're not eating they will charge you and. It say shit till the end. Atmosphere 10/10 Service 30/10 Management -10/10pluto and goofy dog shit. I'll never come back here again. You might want to inform your patrons that if you do not eat you're still getting charged and not wait until the end of the meal to do so. We came here around lunch time when they were still serving the breakfast buffet. We had a fabulous time! The restaurant itself was clean and spacious. My son especially enjoyed watching the monorail drive through every few minutes. The food itself was good too! They were constantly replenishing so nothing was ever empty. There were ample choices and something for everyone. The waffle and pancakes were a favorite among the kids. The adults enjoyed the omelet and egg options along with warm cinnamon rolls and biscuits with gravy. Personally the bacon was my favorite. First time visiting Chef Mickey....ever. We were told that there were many changes to this venue since the pandemic. The pricing: we paid $25 per adult and were able to apply our annual pass discount which saved us 10% Characters: There were 0 Disney characters during this dining experience. As of the date of this review 8/5/20, the only character dining experiences available are at Topolino's at Riviera Resort (breakfast hours only) and Garden Grill at Epcot. Food delivery: From what we were told the food was normally buffet style where you went up to grab what you'd like. However, due to new safety measures the servers bring you your meals. You may request more of a specific item if you'd like as well. Drinks: only non alcoholic drinks were available with the price. You did have the option to purchase additional cocktails for a charge. Pro tip: once your done with your meal, you should check out the resort! The patio area right outside Fantasia offers fantastic views of the Magic Kingdom. The Sand bar pool area also offers refreshing drinks and there's a Mickey (modern sculpture) that you can take a photo with! read more

Chef Mickey's was a complete disappointment - where do I begin? Reservations made weeks in advance yet it took ~30mins to get seated. As soon as we sat down, our waitress rushed us to get up and grab food... in parallel, the cast member who guides the characters came to our table where my toddler was, and asked if we wanted pics with the characters before Goofy started making his rounds - of course we do! I took my kid here, and it left me feeling really bummed. The food is tragic, and Walt must be rolling over in his grave at the suggestion that Mickey would serve the garbage food at this place. Beef was dry, tough, under-seasoned, and sliced too thick. I am no vegetarian, but I actually felt bad for the cow whose meat had been ruined and was destined for the garbage. There was some kind of dry turkey slice with bbq sauce squirted onto it."Gnocchi" were dry and tough, despite being drenched in an odd-tasting red sauce. The basic vegetables looked ok, but I had already lost my appetite. Oh, and they had brought us three salads at the beginning... "kale salad" was 25% or less kale, and one salad had shrimp that was the most fishy smelling I've been served in years. My kid is a fussy eater who rarely clears her plate, and even she commented on the food waste in the single adult portion. To go to Animal Kingdom that day and hear about conservation, then see the kind of waste and inefficiency happening here, all at such low quality ... is just depressing. Felt much more "Buy n Large" (Wall-e) than Disney. Dessert was ok. Kid's meal was passable as a kid's meal. We kicked off our week-long visit at Chef Mickey with a group of 13 people on a Saturday morning. It is located at the Contemporary resort and our reservation was at 8am. I would recommend an early reservation because we were able to access the buffet without a huge crowd or long lines. It was a great experience for the kids. Mickey, Pluto, and Goofy visited our table for pictures and autographs. The food was great. Buffet style with a ton of options for various tastes and the Mickey Mouse waffles didn't disappoint. Other options included fruit, smoked salmon, bacon, frittata and pastries. Something for everyone! My only complaint was that my 3 year old daughter really wanted to see Minnie Mouse but you had to wait until your meal was finished and your bill was stamped before you could wait in line for a photo with her. It was really hard for my daughter to wait for that but she finally got her wish. I would recommend this experience for young kids who want to meet characters up close and personal. read more

Our server was not at all excited to be at work and while we were there for a noon lunch, it was not that crowded and too him an incredibly long time to bring us drink refills. The food was just bad. The selection was really minimal. The Mickey waffles were room temperature along with the eggs. The bacon tasted like it had been sitting in grease for days. The gravy for the biscuits was super salty. For an all you care to enjoy buffet there was not much we enjoyed. We will not be going back nor will we recommend this character dining. i have the best memories coming here once as a little girl and it was so amazing. still you have to make reservations in advance it can book up quick. while you wait they have many shops to shop at its pricy but so worth it one time . waited a bit after checking in in was so easy and you can do it on the app even if you need a high chair or celebration . i put it was my daughters birthday and they didn't sing but thats ok she was scared of the characters . to get here also you need to take a monorail . so we get seated. and they gave us some juice to start off with complimentary . which was guava mixed with passion fruit such an amazing different flavor i was shocked how much i liked it yes you get refills . then it was a big breakfast buffet with eggs mickey waffles. fruits. puddings. cheeses meats all you can eat they do have a lunch one after 11:30. and they also give you posters signed in the beginning . all characters come to your table. they take pictures and sign autographs make sure you have a book and pen. minni is in a corner seperate she comes out every few minutes or so. everything was perfect delicious and fun. my daughter loved it. but when characters came close. so if your childs not a fan of characters might not be the perfect place but ill go. as much as i can . bathtrooms are downstairs. and make sure you try it all. the mistake i made was forgetting to use my. annual pass discount so if you have one use it because i forgot too. which is. big help read more

Our LOVED Chef Mickey's at 16m and again at 26m. We always go there for breakfast and have been to dinner twice. We were usually able to get last minute reservations. The food was delicious. They used to bring everything to the table as all you can eat during Covid, but now it's back to buffet style. They came by to check on us frequently. Unlike Crystal Palace and Tusker House, we didn't find ourselves waiting for the characters after our meal. They came by at a good pace and were all very friendly. Didn't feel rushed at all! For breakfast there were plenty of baby and toddler friendly options. The Mickey waffles were a huge hit! For dinner, they brought over a plate with chicken nuggets, Mac and cheese, and broccoli. My child also enjoyed some of the "adult" food, like the green beans and the turkey. We enjoyed every single visit to Chef Mickey's and we'll definitely be back. read more

Had breakfast here a few times now. Big selection, and the majority of it is pretty good. Variety of foods from kiddy stuff: Cereal, muffins, pancakes and Mickey waffles to a various selection of adult style scrambles, smoked salmon, hash, etc. There's bound to be something for everyone. Service is OK, they're dragged around a bit from ALL the tables they're responsible for so give them a bit of a break. Best bet is when you have their attention to give them all your requests at once, but don't be surprised if they miss something and just be patient and ask for your refills on what they missed again. DONT SKIP ON THE CHEESY POTATOES!!! Soooo good. Also, Pog Juice is a must. The cheesy grits are a hidden gem too. While over priced, a great selection, fun meet n greets and the music slaps too. Everyone needs to stop hating on Chef Mickeys. My kids loved it and yes it's buffet food, but so is basically all the food at Disney. The characters were great, I think if my kids were a little older (currently 1 & 3) they'd have spent a little more time with them but they aren't interested in autographs and don't talk much. This past summer we visited Chef Mickey's for the first time post-Covid. We typically only eat breakfast here, although we have done dinner once or twice, and were at first disappointed to find that they had done away with the buffet style menu for breakfast and replaced it with a family style meal. However, after experiencing it, I think it was a good value and there was a nice selection of items offered. Also, you can ask for more of whatever you'd like, which is something that pleased my husband. We definitely felt satisfied with the food. Also, we were so relieved to see the characters come around to the tables again to do autographs and take pictures, something my son always enjoys. We will visit here again. read more

The food for the kids is perfect, nuggets, Mac and cheese, Tater tots. They could also eat from the adult foods as well. Chen mickeys was a Disney fail. We were here the 2nd time in less than a year and this time for my daughters 5th birthday which was awful. When we checked in for our table it wasn't ready which was puzzling when about 50% of the restaurant was empty meaning tables vacant. When our table was ready we were ushered to a table in the back by the kitchen with no lighting; I had explained to them it was for a very special occasion why daughters bday but this is the best they thought to do. It was obvious that the characters preferred one section over the others which was the far back center that is well lit and has the colorful decorations and wall paper. It wasn't until after an hour and 9 minutes if the characters still being in the same area that I asked how things worked and was told they do 15 minute rotations to each section which now had me even more annoyed. No one is obviously coming here for the food as their are not many options and those that they do have are below the standards of cheap buffets that we know from the past like bonanza and Golden Corral. Mac and cheese, spaghetti, meatballs, chicken nuggets, fried rice and such were all that filled this buffet which consisted of two lines of the same foods on both sides. We spoke to the manager about our concerns as we only came to Chef Mickey's for the characters and we're told they will make their rounds well after pluto started to migrate to our section he was pulled by the so called body guards in blue shirts back to the original section receiving all the attention. The only manager that came over to offer apologies was the food manager the character manager L'Oréal never did guess we didn't matter enough to her since this is a huge market no matter how low the quality may be.
