GuiYang style dry noodles with deep fried pork bits and peanuts and marinated egg - side of soup

Service was quick here, they take card or cash, fair cheap this meal was $18. The texture and taste was great I would come back. This is inside of crystal mall

Most Vancouverites won't say NO to noods (=noodles). I usually stick to Pho, Laksa, beef noodle or sometimes Ramen and was looking for hot soupy noodles. I've gone to HuaXi and Chao Shou Wang they have a similar menu to Chef Rong. The only difference is CR also sells Chinese crepes other than noodles. I ordered 1 E Beef Tendon and Shank with Rice Noodles ($10.98) it had chunky beef with lots of noodles. Little spicy was the level I picked and non spicy could've been much better. DON'T go for medium spicy it looked quite spicy in my personal opinion. The young girl, who was working as a cashier, was quite friendly and helpful. I asked what some other dishes were and one of them was #7 (check my pictures) and it looked similar to Dan Dan Noodles. Their beef noodle was quite satisfying and meat pieces were so tender. I couldn't drink all the soup at all and it was spicy. More like Szechuan spicy I should say! I also found #6 to be yummy as well and would be great to try more dishes on my next visit. Chef Rong is worth a try!

I like this place. I've only had the beef noodles and it's quite good. I ordered the 1A the last time I was there and it was pretty good. The beef is nicely cooked (very tender) and a good proportion to the noodles. The soup can be a bit spicy if you're not used to it but you can ask for no spice. The girl at the counter was nice. In the Crystal Mall in the food court on the top floor. Parking is always hell in here. I never drive here. I live close by so I always walk and if I'm coming home or going somewhere where I have to drive I'll park it on the street. Not worth the headache of going in that parkade.

Tasty noodle shop in Crystal Mall. Parking is a mess in the lot below, as usual. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Beef noodle soup bowl is tasty. Goes down better (or worse) with a dish of their house sauce. Nice chunks of meat, springy noodles, and piping hot soup. My only wish is that the portion size was a bit bigger. As a bonus, they give out packs of tissue (with their business information) with each meal. Great for keeping around for the future.

my girlfriend didn't like her soup, so i got to eat her leftovers for lunch the next day lol they gave me half beef and half intestines with the spicy and sour soup, thanks! my only complaint is that the #4 level spiciness wasn't spicy enough. otherwise i was very satisfied with the flavour and the textures of the noodle and the beef and tendons and egg. good hot and spicy and sour soup on a cold and snowy day

Caught up with a friend on Sunday and we snooped around the Crystal Mall food court for some cheap eats. Always in search of strange foods, I ended up trying "Chili Oil Rice Noodle" from Chef Rong Noodle House. And it's basically what's written -- rice noodles swimming in chili oil. It's rated three-chili spicy-hot on the menu board, but it really didn't have good heat or buzz. Also could really have used a spoon for the peanuts. Overall, it was somewhat boring but for just $6, you got a big, filling, bowl of soup and that's cheaper than a lot of other offerings at the food court. They also have those pancake burgers filled with crunch, similar to what you can get overpriced at Me Crepe but simpler. I didn't spot that on the menu but might try it next time just to compare.

-Delicious and in Plain Sight- I was told there was a hand made noodle joint in Crystal Mall worth trying. They were not wrong. I chose the spicy version of the beef noodle soup. For under $10, you get a decent amount of food. The broth... admittedly I did not drink the chili filled soup....not that brave. The beef - decent amount and super tender. Teeth are not required. The vegetables - a lightly pickled cabbage was a nice counter to the heavier components of the meal. I really appreciated it. The noodles - airy and wavy. The texture was unique. I would prefer it a little under cooked to maintain a chewy texture, but that's just me. Overall another decent gem hidden in Crystal Mall.

    Pork intestines with sour soup

Toooo salty, the soup was flavoured and the beef was not too tender, almost all lean meat. Noodles were not bad which came from other factories. Not too satisfied, but I will give him 3.5 points. It's better than the one face to metropolis. Easy to park at underground parking.

This is my first time trying Haidilao, I was so impressed with the service. Food was fresh, we opted for unlimited meat, we had beef & lamb slices. There is an extra charge of the sauce bar, about $3 plus dollars. That includes dessert & their yummy congee as part of the sauce bar. There's even a show presentation on a popular Chinese mythology figure, The Monkey God. A thoroughly enjoyable meal. Service is prompt & good, our server Elvis was attentive & most helpful. Trying to reorder meat on their iPad was a bit challenging, there's too many options. We had Elvis helping us with the reordering. You are offered ice cream at the end of your meal too. Decor was cute, clean & inviting Fresh food, great service, paid parking in the mall parking.

After that, we ordered from them again many, many times through the Fantuan app. The menu is simple. Basically rice and noodles, just as the name of the shop implies. They cook their food soooo well though! There's a deep "wok hei" flavor to their rice and noodles. They do also have a few other side dishes like gyoza and spring rolls which you can order, but basically we go to this place for the rice and noodles. This was the first time we actually dined in the restaurant instead of getting takeout. Highly recommend dining in! So good to eat the food fresh and hot. It's a great place to stop for a quicky, filling and tasty meal. You choose your base, then your protein, and then your level of spice. Pay at the counter, then sit down and they will bring the food out to you when it's ready. In our group we ordered some gyoza, chow mein, pad thai noodles and pad see ew noodles. I must have been hungrier than I realized, or else the food just tasted soooo good that I ended up eating my entire plate of noodles, when I really only needed about half the plate. The guy in front of me, Deng, looked at me with such envy as he cut in line. This place is incredibly popular! Every time I pass by, there's a long queue. Even on rainy days, people are willing to get soaked in the rain just to have a bowl of hot tonkotsu ramen. While you're queuing, the staff will hand out menus. The ordering system is similar to Ichiran Ramen; you can choose the noodle firmness, broth consistency, spiciness, green onions, oil level, and MSG amount . The basic ramen is only $13. I added a soft-boiled egg and pickled cabbage for $2 each. Although the pickled cabbage is really expensive , I can't help it, I'm a pickled cabbage addict! The pickled cabbage paired with the rich tonkotsu broth was refreshing. The broth was flavorful but not greasy, the noodles were chewy and springy, and the portion size was just right. Overall, it's incredibly good value for money; no wonder there's always a queue. After eating, you really get that "Ah~ this is the taste of happiness" feeling

I had the goma vegetarian and my brother the tonkatsu. We both had thicker noodles. However, one could not tell. The vegetarian was loaded with sesame seeds. Now i love those seeds but it was way too much for my liking. Too much seeds to chew on. They also do not put any vegetables on like Hawaii does. Everything is ala carte and that adds up. I simply chose the ramen version without all the add ons. The broth was yummy but again with the loaded seeds, it made it challenging to just drink the soup. I will say, Hawaii has by far better ramen, but this place was ok too. Pricey for for what you get though.
