Bread rolls with cream cheese and onion chive bread rolls with squash, cucumber and regular butter

We were at the Hilton - Playa Del Carmen (Mexico) for our honeymoon. It's an all-inclusive resort which includes all the food and drinks during the stay. The resort has several restaurants which serve different cuisines such as Mexican, Brazilian, Italian, etc. The restaurant Chef's Plate is not specific to any particular type of food because the chef creates a daily menu of its choice. As a Hilton honors member, we also had access to this restaurant but it's only for dinner and by reservation only. We made a reservation for dinner but when looked at the menu, it mainly had non-vegetarian food. As vegetarians we did not even want eggs in our food. We requested the restaurant for a vegetarian menu for our dinner if possible. Not knowing what our dinner will be like we planned on going to Italian as backup. The restaurant has a very upscale look and feel, it also requires men to be dressed with a collar top and have closed shoes. The restaurant is perfect for a romantic dinner. Starting with the service, the servers were so kind and professional from the time we entered until we left. Even tho it's technically a "free" dinner for us, the service was exceptional. Food: The chef prepared a special vegetarian menu for just my wife and I. It was an amazing 7 course meal that was specially made just for us and all vegetarian. Started off first with a welcome drink. This was an alcoholic drink which was so good that we couldn't even tell there was any alcohol it it. Mixed with peach liquor, grey goose, Orange juice, and champagne. It was the only drink we had the rest of the night. Then came the caperese salad which was a bite size item with tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and dipped in pesto. It was delicious. Next was the bread plate with 2 types of rolls. One was plain bread filled with cream cheese and the other was onion and chive flavored bread. It was served with 3 types of butter. Squash and cucumber flavored butter as well as regular butter. We have never had cucumber butter and it was so yummy. Then came a garden salad. This was a mix of greens and fruits. I'm not a salad person but I liked this one because it had nuts and fruits as well. Next was the vegetable soup. It was very soothing! Then was the main course which was a vegetable lasagna. Prob the best Vegeterian Lasagna I have EVER had. There were two parts to it, one was a actual lasagna layered with pasta, cheese and shredded veggies. The other part was an actual vegetable lasagna layered with veggies like zucchini, cucumbers, spinach and fresh mozzarella. It was served with crispy Parmesan cheese cracker. It was the best. For dessert the chef made a fancy plate, it had ice cream, chocolate, apple filled cinnamon flavored bread roll and fruits. Lastly they brought out some chocolate truffles. This dinner was our best meal from the trip. Each plate was well presented and full of flavors. We were so stuffed and satisfied, It definitely exceeded our expectations!

It was a 6 course meal with portions that appeared small. When brought out with the perfect amount of timing along with a great wine. It was an overall filling experience. Serviced by Jesus y Marcos two great gentleman that made the experience very joyful. Also the sommelier Carlos who provided an amazing choice of wine. And lastly thanking the amazing chef for an outstanding experience.

January 13/2025: Dinner with Al/Clem/Red…read more This was an alright dinner with a goodish ambiance. The server "Moses" was a very nice, polite & patient fellow. He delivered solid service, 5-Star. It rained during our meal so that did have an impact. As for the meal...it was a 3-Star at best. My appie was Bruschetta Pastorall ($147P). It was hot in flavour & decent tasting as well. My main was Chicken Parmesan with a creamy spaghetti ($379p + $75p for the spaghetti). They were good but not great. They SHOULD have been great for a $31.50 Cdn entree. And even though I asked in writing to have the meal extra hot...it was barely warm enough to NOT send back to the kitchen. This seems to be where most restaurants in the area drop the ball...taste & food temperature. Even though I ranked this a 4-star it's not really one...it's more like a 3.5. I doubt I'd come back here.

You feel like you are eating in a jungle. Most of the seating is outdoors but the jungle blocks views to and from the street. We went for thin crust pizza. The crust in fact very thin. I think my Mailina could have been in the oven a bit longer to brown more. I did not detect any sausage although the description said there should be. The wife got the Napoli and liked it. We started with Caprese salad. It was excellent. Best (most fresh tasting) I ever had. Service was inattentive. There was one guy who was waiter and street recruiter. It was too much for one person.

It helped that it was pouring rain and most of the restaurant was under cover, unlike a lot of spots, so it was perfect. We were seated quickly and helped shortly after. Service was...interesting. Felt like we had the hardest experience with communication here, which is fine, as Americans that is our fault. Things like they have a porn star martini ( my fav) as a mocktail so I asked if it was possible to add a shot of vodka. They initially recommended the espresso martini which I did not want so I was just opting for water and he pushed the original option on me then charged be $20 for it, which was insane. They also pushed sales hard here, it felt a little off...like we just wanted to enjoy a meal and at the end we're hounded to try their mezcals. BUT food came quick and effeciently so no major complaints there, just be aware. As for the food, it was incredible. Again with the communication, we pointed and asked for the beet carpaccio....they brought out beef carpaccio WHICH thankfully we both eat meat because honestly, it was freaking incredible. We didn't even say anything about the mix up because it was a highlight. They brought it out under a glass smoker, it had a cream sauce, and rosemary, lime, cheese, it was just perfect. We also had the corn which was super unique, the tuna appetizer which had SO MUCH FLAVOR, and the fundito which was on par with everywhere else in the area. It ended up being more food than we planned but it was incredible in flavor, whoever the cook is does a great job of marrying flavors because it was an incredible meal. Be ready for the communication gap, but know you won't eat anything bad here.

I liked the grilled octopus with baby potatoes and chile relleno was very flavorful. The kids menu was a real hit for my daughter too! We got a chicken with cheese plate which had a side of guacamole and corn on the cob- she ate it all.
