Stunning resort, beautiful and serene setting along the beach. The restaurant brings out the centerpiece for the perfect union of aromatic sensory indulgence. Full cocktail and bar. Speciality drinks and great wine list. Found myself a new Chardonnay! Beer and kids cocktail list too! Food menu varies from seafood to steak to veggies to appetizers and salads. Various menu for ally diets. Had an amazing pizza that was just so good and with the freshest ingredients. Great night for people watching, band listening, the breeze from the ocean and the fire of the open grill. Such a magical place.

Food was good. Service was good. The view is great. You are right on the beach! We came here for lunch as we were waiting for our room to be ready. I hear the dinner is amazing. The lunch didn't blow me out of the water. The shrimp was tasty and the flavors were all there. There are so many restaurants in the area with great food so I'd skip this one.

Great service, wonderful meal. I highly recommend the sea bass. One daughter got the grouper and another got the hamburger. Everything was delicious. The sea bass was so buttery and delicious. Dessert and wine was on point as well.

Fantastic birthday lunch for my 17 year old and our family of 5 during a day trip to Playa del Carmen. The service was fantastic and the food amazing. The drink menu was so creative and did not disappoint! We had a beautiful view too!! Took notes on the resort and signed up for their mailing list for a future family vacation! We started with the fried calamari. We had the August Chille ceviche, the duck tacos, but the Lentil burger for my vegetarian and the kids pizza for my picky eater. My husband tried several local beers and I had the Tito spritzer

Wahhh. I'm bummed about my experience here! I really wanted to like this place, but it was highly disappointing. If your a staying at Mahekal, stick to Las Olas! The restauraunt itself is beautifully upscale and there is a great view of the ocean depending on where you sit, but the food and service just wasn't up to par. My boyfriend and I stayed at Mahekal for a week and we only ate here once. Personally, when I travel I like to dine at places that serve authentic local food, but this place is very Americanized. I ordered the lamb and my boyfriend got the risotto. Although our meals looked pretty we both felt they tasted off and I actually had food poisoning hours after our dinner. It sucked so so much!! In terms of service, the waiter was nice but a bit overbearing with how he served us. He was at our table a little too frequently. I don't think he intentionally meant to come off like that, but more so lacked server etiquette. It seemed like we were being rushed out too, which is never a good customer experience. I also wanted to modify my lamb with the sauce on the side and requested it be cooked well done and our server basically said no, because "it wouldn't taste right." That being said, if your a picky eater probably not the best place to eat at. In addition, you may encounter some translating problems if you don't speak Spanish. I suppose if your in the mood for American food, this would be where to go. Honestly though, I'd recommend just skipping it altogether. There's a Guy Fieri's not too far away from here (on 5th Ave) that'll satisfy American food cravings.

I am extremely disappointed in this restaurant! I specifically asked for vegan options no meat no fish I literally asked the chef for a vegan meal ...no butter no cheese and no cream and absolutely no animal flesh And what's on top a whole bunch of cheese! I am severely lactose intolerant and disappointed in the lack of communication and culinary expertise. My stomach was terrible after just testing and hoping it was vegan cheese! If you can't cook without meat and dairy you are not a true chef! What a disappointment for my birthday dinner this was the big 30 wish I had gone to a vegan restaurant in town

The service is quick, the prices are incredibly reasonable, and the food is consistently delicious. Before your meal even arrives, you're served a plate of fresh radishes, cucumber, and lime wedges, plus a selection of toppings including tomatoes, onions, and both a green and red salsa. Unfortunately this location didn't give us the cactus like the other locations did. The red salsa was my favourite, it paired perfectly with the tacos and had just the right amount of heat and flavour. The standout for me was the al pastor taco. The meat was incredibly flavourful with crispy edges, a smoky char, and the perfect balance of savoury spice and sweet pineapple. It was easily one of the best al pastor tacos I had in Playa del Carmen. I also tried the sirloin taco and the chicken breast plate, both of which were excellent. The portions were generous, everything tasted fresh, and the quality was impressive, especially for the price. El Fogón absolutely lived up to the hype. If you're looking for authentic, delicious tacos and grilled meats that won't break the bank, this is a must visit. I loved it so much that I ended up eating at all three locations and every visit was just as good as the last.

My wife and I shared the chicken fajitas, which were excellent. My friend ordered the al pastor fajitas, and his wife had the pork chops--everyone agreed the food was delicious. The guacamole was fresh and amazing, and every dish was flavorful and generously portioned. If you're looking for authentic Mexican food with excellent service and a great atmosphere, I highly recommend El Fogón. We would definitely come back!

I guess they weren't prepared for it to be this busy on a Wednesday night. The food was all really good, except for the fish. It was grilled well but tasted a bit dry. Only the top of the fish that was covered in sauce had flavor but it didn't seep through to the bottom of the fish. I recommend getting the Seafood Ceviche because they make it with coconut milk, which was different from all the other ceviches we had on our trip. Other than the slow service, this was a good experience. Seafood Ceviche 9/10 Crispy Jumbo Shrimps 9/10 Soft Shell Crab Taco 9/10 Fresh Catch of the Day (half garlic butter, half ictio) 7/10

Then came the whole fried fish -- crispy, golden, incredibly fresh, and topped with fresh onions, cilantro, jalapeños, and a charred lime on the side. It was so delicious I could barely put my fork down! The owner himself came out to check on us -- so kind, humble, and genuinely passionate about his food. Everything is made with the freshest local ingredients, and it shows in every bite. The flavors are bright, authentic, and unforgettable. ICTIO is an absolute must. This is the kind of meal you'll remember and tell everyone about.
