Fun spot for indian food! They have classic indian dishes in addition to some fusion options and combination. Food presentation was also more elaborate than a standard indian spot. Still has family friendly vibes but perhaps just a touch more elevated. I found all their vegetarian dishes pretty good! There is ample parking and staff is a little slow but there is a lot of traffic/patrons so possibly understaffed. The restaurant is also BYOB which is always a plus. It's a wholesome spot, we enjoy going there.

SERVICE - located in a small complex away the main oak tree road area - large parking lot in front - plenty of indoor seating with large tables good for big groups - we called ahead to check the wait time and they said there was none but we ended up waiting close to 20 minutes - free chutneys, papad, and pickle - food served quickly once ordered - servers are attentive and check in regularly to see if your table needs cleaning MENU - wide selection of Indian and Indo Chinese dishes - vegan and vegetarian options available - average price ($17 per entree) FOOD - assorted sprout salad (9/10): mixed sprouted lentils with onion, peppers, tomato, and pomegranate seeds on a generous bed of lettuce. This makes a great starter to share. The beans have a nice crunch while the vegetables are fresh and slightly soft. I liked the addition of pomegranate seeds for sweetness and tartness. It felt like eating bhel puri but a more wholesome version. - chili garlic gobhi dry (9/10): cauliflower florets fried in a thin crispy batter and coated with a sweet and spicy chili sauce. This dish was like a traditional Gobi Manchurian except the coating was lighter and the sauce was not as sticky. I loved how the batter felt like tempura and added just the right amount of crunch to the cauliflower. The sauce is not overwhelmingly spicy. Also makes a great starter to share. - bhindi masala (7/10): okra simmered in a spicy tomato-onion gravy. I liked how flavorful the gravy was with a good mix of spices and chili. The okra was a bit raw for my preference and was not mixed into the rest of the sauce. WOULD I GO BACK? Yes! The food and ambiance were nice for a family dinner. I would make a reservation so that we do not have to wait.

I was here on a Sunday lunch with my dance mates after 3 hours of vigorous practice! We came and got seated immediately which was nice! The ambiance is cute. Great for a date place.. cozy! We opted for the buffet! This was my first time here and honestly didn't know the buffet was quiet expensive. Anyways, there was a pasta station, the main course food and a dessert table! I had the pesto sauce pasta, veg pizza and cream of broccoli soup for starters! Loved the soup! It was super refreshing! The pasta was okay okay! For vegetarians, they had yellow daal, mushroom curry, saag paneer, veg manchurian, aloo gobi, jeera rice, veg halka noodles, raita, gulab jamun and kheer. Honestly, the daal was bland. The veg manchurian was pretty salty. The saag paneer didn't taste like palak paneer though the paneer was good. Mushroom curry was okay. I didn't even bother trying the noodles since majority of the food lacked flavor and was disappointing. Overall, it wasn't a great experience for me and I don't think i'll ever come back. Buffet is too pricey $30 for something where the only thing I enjoyed was the soup.

Nice Indian restaurant that really caters to the guest!Food presentation was... interesting. I ordered the crispy tofu as an appetizer ( highly recommend). For the main course I ordered the baingan bharta, which I found to be pretty flavorless, and garlic naan. For dessert I ordered the kulfi falooda which had a fun presentation and was pretty good. As a vegetarian the baingan bharta was a bit of a let down but overall experience was nice. Great staff!

My Indian colleague told me this is one of the best Indian restaurants in the area, so I decided to come for a foodie girls night out. I love the atmosphere and delicious food at this place, and I am glad nothing is too spicy for us. (I usually found Indian cuisine a little too spicy ) The free BYOB is also a plus for our girls night out. I am looking forward to return soon to try more interesting dishes at this place .

Food is delicious! The spice and aromatics used in the cooking are well presented. Pani puri shots were also so fun! Definitely a little on the pricier side but had a great time. This place is filled with families and was packed so it was awesome getting seated right away as a party of 3. They have a cash discount so bring cash!!!

Had dinner at the chef's table. Absolutely loved Aam panna. So refreshing. The tandoor paneer tikka was extremely good. Everyone in the table loved the tandoori jackfruit dish. Also loved the gol gappa and the stuffed bhalla chaat. Veg biryani and paneer tikka masala were ok. Gulab jamun was ok. The butter naan is one of the best I've had, so soft and well made. Fantastic experience overall. My 4 year old loved the methi paratha.

Really good Indian restaurant located in Edison NJ. Weekends can get busy. Live music outside. Appetizers were generic (we ordered spring rolls and Papdi chaat), which were okay. We enjoyed the dinner (chicken tikka, goat curry, malai kofta, vegetable biryani which comes with yogurt with boondi). Portions are smaller than other places, and prices are more expensive. Overall good experience. Definitely try the sugar free kulfi falooda. Presentation was amazing.

This is yummy! They have this station to make it. Aloo Papdi Chat

Nice ambiance , great food my favorite is the CTM they do add way too much ginger ( on top, so it can be removed ! thankfully) . This past weekend I did have a chance to check out their buffet. The menu had both non veg and vegetarian. Even had mini dosa and hot gulab jamun ! my fav Compared to other restaurants the prices were bit high 22.99 ( they do add gratuities so add 4-5$) so roughly 30$ pp even children! which is total waste of money for us IMO, so basically at the end it was just like ordering an entree any other normal time. I do think they should charge better price for children. Also they do not take reservations so be ready to wait ...

I'm updating my review after revisiting recently. The menu has changed but in a good way from the last time I had dined in here over three years ago. I liked how they provide a menu on which you can indicate what you would like to order, how many portions, and spice level. The crispy lotus root and tandoor kathal were the best appetizers! I found it to be unique and flavorful. The entrees (paneer kadhai and malai kofta) both delicious and highly recommended. Also they are very mindful of covid and take necessary precautions by spacing tables, placing lids on all chutneys, salads, and achaar, and having staff properly wear masks.

Chef's table We walked into Chef's Table in Edison on a Saturday evening in October 2022 at 7PM with no dinner reservations. Frankly, with the profusion of excellent Indian cuisine in north Edison, NJ, my expectations were set fairly low. Also, based on the online reviews, I was prepared for spotty service and uneven food, given the normal Saturday night rush. However, my personal takeaway: Everything was excellent and we'll definitely be going back hoping for a similar experience! Here are the details: The restaurant was busy but we were seated promptly. Interior atmosphere was warm and inviting, although there was a definite draft from the door every time it was opened (perhaps the vestibule needs to be heated?). (No trace remained of the brick-oven pizzeria that used to occupy this building.) For appetizers, we ordered Cauliflower in sweet chili sauce (Chilli Garlic Gobhi Dry), Tandoori chicken thighs (Nawabi Tandoori Murgh), and Samosas. Both the chicken and cauliflower came out quickly, but the samosas required a bit of a wait. The cauliflower was coated in a delightfully crispy coating in a sticky sweet sauce with really good flavor all around. Good balance of acid and sweet, with a hint of chili. They could have used a pinch of additional salt and heat, but that might just be personal preference. The tandoori chicken was a double portion of the chicken thigh and the first wing section (drumettes) both on the bone. They were cooked well, and the traditional yogurt coating was flavorful. Meat was falling off the bone but still had a good resilience to it. Despite the wait for the three samosas, we were really happy with what we eventually received. The Samosa pastry and filling were definitely house-made, not frozen. Filling was finely ground, with fresh herbs and peas mixed into the potato mash, and the pastry was light and tender. As this was our first time, Mrs. Heat and I ordered four entreés, with full intent to take quite a bit home and share with the Embers. Vegetable Manchurian - good texture and flavor, generous portion. Really liked the texture of the "veggie balls", and the sauce was really deep and intense. Butter chicken - very tender meat with a mild sauce, could have used a bit more protein. Chicken is the least expensive protein commercially available today - there's no excuse to skimp on this. Other than that, a good dish overall. Would order again, especially with more chicken! Stuffed paneer (Khumani Bhare Kofte) - exactly as described and very tasty. This was a new dish for us, and we were surprised that there was literally dried fruits and plums stuffed inside the paneer. No idea how they did that, but it made for an extremely flavorful bite. A winner indeed! Lamb (Gosht Rismisa) - falling apart boneless meat. Good gravy - one of the dishes you want to soak up in naan or rice well after the protein was gone. And the protein in this dish was plentiful, in contrast to the scant butter chicken protein (and inexplicable, given their relative wholesale prices!) The Rasmalai had a delicious strong flavor, and was both creamy and tasty. I literally licked the bowl - hopefully when no one was looking. The Kulfi Falooda (served with noodles), although somewhat bland, was served in a unique ceramic vessel with smoking dry ice (see photo/video). Worth the experience, once. The service was - while not exceptional - fairly typical of Indian restaurants not in Manhattan, and really quite good for post-COVID staffing challenges. Obviously, they're suffering from the same foodservice shortages that we're seeing industry-wide, but Chef's Table is handling it gracefully. Our server was cordial and helpful throughout, and responded from across the floor to eye contact and a smile. We saw additional servers and bussers as necessary, mostly to deliver food and take away dirties. Timing could have been tighter, but again, at primetime on a Saturday night, I was happy with how well they kept up with the rush. I would suggest at least one more main server and one more busser for the Friday/Saturday night 5-9 shift. My summary here was that this was a very good experience for an Indian/PanAsian restaurant, and a standout even in North Edison, NJ. Several dishes were surprising, and all were at least "very good" in my opinion. My few tweaks could easily be incorporated by an attentive manager and head chef; I hope they take them to heart. I'm excited to visit again, and may add Chef's Table into our regular Indian food rotation. Incidentally, almost none of the food made it home to the little Heatlings. We returned home with two small takeaway containers and very full belles. Next time, they'll have to come along. For a few years, I've been curious about how the food was here at The Rose. Unfortunately, with no…read moretakeout available until fairly recently, I hadn't bothered to venture here. But with that said, my girl wanted some Indo Chinese.... so we made the trip here to see whether it's worth a second visit. Now, to be clear: the Rose is a Pan Asian Cuisine. So it's not necessarily just Indo Chinese, but it also encompasses flavors from all the other countries too. We ended up ordering 3 items in the following order: 1a: Gobi Manchurian 1b: Smoked Vegetable Sizzler 2: Mushroom Sautéed in Ginger Garlic We ordered the first two together and those arrived relatively quickly. The Gobi Manchurian was the better of the two, but I wonder if it was a bit too overpowered with spice and less of the sweet and sour taste (or even the soy sauce). The spice was a bit too overbearing. The sizzler was fine, but it was mostly onions and peppers. The tofu - while cooked fine - surprised me because it was like the silky ma po tofu (which coincidentally is what they serve here). In other words, the same tofu is repeated across multiple meals. I think the tofu needed to be pan fried at least for a sizzler. Because of the above, we didn't feel full and thought that the mushroom would provide a different taste pallet. Unfortunately, that was a miss as the mushroom had the same taste as the gobi manchurian, when it should've been infused with the ginger garlic. Additionally, the mushroom was way too overcooked so you couldn't even taste them either. It was like a crunchy mushroom. No good. To make things worse, the waiter, who also manned the front desk, seemed a bit too aloof at times. Often that meant not refilling water unless prompted and not providing the check on time or not even setting up the tables properly with silverware. It was a bit disappointing. This place has the potential, especially with the cute decor. But failed execution with the food and some lackluster service do not make this a place I'd recommend in the future.

We had the tandoori momos, papdi chaat, and paneer tacos for appetizers. The tandoori momos were simple on the inside - just paneer, but the tandoori coating was highly flavorful! The papdi chaat hit the spot on a hot day - you know they're doing it right when the potato to papdi ratio is just perfect. Our favorite was the tacos - the paneer was packed with flavor. It was one of those apps where you take one bite and you're just amazed - crunchy, soft, zesty perfection. For entree we shared the paneer tikka baked in the clay oven. This came hot in a sizzler with onions, green peppers on a bed of charred cabbage (who knew but - woah!). We paired this with some cilantro and tamarind chutney and butter naan - absolutely delightful. The kids also had a cheesy naan with fries (kids meal) which they enjoyed! Lastly, for dessert we had to try one of their unique sweet treats and opt for the date wontons with ice cream. It was a cool concept but not something I'd get again. There are many other desserts on the menu that look great though! Cherry on top of the appetizing food was the kind service. Golden fried eggplant, which is lightly fried eggplant with cubes of bell peppers and onions. We all liked this dish a lot, as well. It was nicely fried. This is a good appetizer to start off the meal. While it does not have anything unique about it, it is exactly what you would expect from a gobi manchurian. - burnt garlic fried rice (6/10): vegetable fried rice with hints of garlic. I was not a huge fan of this one because I could not taste enough flavor to distinguish it from the other type of rice. When paired with an entree it provides a nice base. - Szechuan fried rice (8/10): vegetable fried rice with garlic and schezuan peppercorns. I liked this one better because the schezuan peppercorns added a floral heat. It also works well with most of the entrees, though if you are sensitive to spice then be careful. - vegetable manchurian (6/10): deep fried vegetable coins in a sweet and sour gravy. This one was just okay. The vegetable coins were still crispy which I liked. I wanted more flavor in the gravy. - mapo tofu (8/10): silken tofu in a spicy sauce with peas and carrots. This is the first time I have seen vegetables in a mapo tofu and I appreciated it. It was not overly spicy or salty and paired well with the fried rice. WOULD I GO BACK? Perhaps. It is a very family friendly place and good for larger groups but none of the food really stood out to me.

We ordered Drums of Heaven, Cumin Lamb, Tso's Chicken, Burnt Chilli Garlic Chicken Noodles, and Thai Chicken Fried Rice - all with medium spice, and each dish hit the perfect level of flavor and heat. Everything was well-balanced, and delicious. I'd definitely come back again!

Only one server working and what appears to be the kid of the owners. Ordered an appetizer, Bento box and Pad Thai. We were running errands and wanted two cold IPA's with our meals. The server obviously wasn't a bartender and ended up with the dubious task of attempting to pour our beers. One glass was only filled 75% and the other was 1/3rd foam. The beer was definitely stale, lacked any real carbonation. Then the appetizer came out with our entrees and the dumplings were not hot which indicated they sat the entire time till the entrees were finished. Everything tasted like they were just phoning it in. The dude at the front desk didn't even acknowledge us on our way out. $75.00 for a completely regrettable experience. We will take the trip to Hatchi next time. This place is just terrible now.

Loved the salmon salad, both Buckwheat and Yakisoba Omiza Soba dish with basil, tofu and veggies. My friend tried Veggie Gobdol Bibimbap for the first time and he absolutely loved the big hot pot of sticky rice, sunny side of egg and veggies with hot sauce. Enjoyed the evening and really liked the place.

We then ordered Thecha paneer and Jhanjanit prawns. The paneer was so soft and flavourful. The texture was just like back home, not frozen. The Jhanjit prawn was the best I had in longest time. We also ordered the kharad chicken but did not update the spice level so it was ok. Had with rice bhakri and plain rice. For the main course we ordered Malvani chicken with plain rice. It's just fabulous. Asked Sandip our server to get us lemon, squeeze some lemon juice on malwani chicken with rice ,; it's delicious. Throughout our dinner Sandip took great care of us &had good su

When entering from Grove Ave, it's easy to be a little bit confused because the restaurant is stuck in the corner behind what used to be Stop n Shop and such. The shopping center is certainly very empty without the anchor grocery store, so it's often quite easy to miss this. Knowing that the restaurant opens dinner service around 6, we got here just before then and realized that the staff was already accepting people beforehand. That was great. As my girl is from Goa, this was a place that was on her mind for some time to try. Likewise, I wanted to try some authentic Maharastrian food too. To start, we ordered a mango lassi & a Kaira Panha. I stuck with the former, which was great. My girl enjoyed her drink too, though def not my first preference. For an appetizer, we ordered the Kothimbir Wadi. This was quite tasty and well enjoyed with the chutney. Certainly authentic. For the main meal, my girl enjoyed her fish fry. I got the Veg. Kohlapuri along with Garlic Naan. The Kohlapuri was good and was easily able to finish it. The only small gripe we had was that the tomato-based curry kinda reminded me of a North Indian korma that you'd get from other establishments. My girl noted this and do wonder whether this is truly the proper way of making and enjoying a Vegetarian Kohlapuri. She noted it was meant to not have a tomato base and was supposed to be a bit more flavorful. As this was my first time, I'm not sure if I can fully validate this, but it's worth a question. Nonetheless, I can't complain about the food. Just simply a curiosity on my end.
