Bolillo and sweet bread in the same PLASTIC bag

I'm a bread and coffee person. Always looking for my favorite panadería in town and since u just moved out here im in search of it. I like the fact that I was greeted with a buenos días. The bread looked fresh and picked up 3 pieces plus a bolillo. They were all good. The reason for my raising was because it was $1 fee for using a cc a little too high for only spending $4. I understand that they are paying a fee themselves but $1 seems a lil excessive. The reason i wouldn't be back is because they placed all my bread in a plastic bag. Never have I had that experience. Always in paper bags or boxes. Paper bags are not expensive try investing in those. Also placed my bolillo in that same bag. We all know you are supposed to separate sweet from the bolillo. At least I thought we all knew this.

Believe it or not, this was my first time going to a Mexican bakery. I have tried a variety of pan dulce (sweet bread) and conchas - usually from coworkers who would bring in goodies. Walking inside Chelas Bakery #2 - oh my gosh, it smelled so good! The aroma of freshly baked bread and pastries immediately tantalized my tastebuds! Surprisingly, the setup is similar to a typical Asian bakery where you would get a tray and tongs and help yourself with the selection of baked goods. It can get pretty tight in here since it is a very small shop. You'd have to be okay with being close-in-proximity to other people (or just wear a mask). One of the customers inside the shop told me to try the Arroz con Leche bread, so I helped myself to one to try as well as their Piña bread. I picked out a few more pastries and paid about $7 for everything. Not bad! Unlike the pan dulce I've tried from my coworkers, the bread from Chelas is not dry. It's actually got quite a chew to it. It even stayed chewy after a couple days - still not dry. Score! The only downside are the super crumby cookies on top - just my own personal dislike (I don't like all the crumbs on my shirt). And the other downside: not enough days to try all the yummy treats LOL. That just means I'll have to pay another visit to Chelas! Would I recommend Chelas #2? Absolutely! Apparently they have 2 other locations (Chelas original and Chelas #2) in Riverside. Prices are fair, the conchas were delicious, and the lady who helped me provided me with good service!

They have delicious pan dulce/breads. I love the old wooden hutches/display cases. They catered an even of 300+ conchas for the holidays in short notice and they were great, even with vegan options.

Their bread is delicious but today the girl in the front, her customer service was disgusting. She was rude and would ignore my questions since they switched a few things up due to COVID. Management needs to keep their respectful employers and not their shitty ones. read more

My family loves this bakery!! Authentic Mexican bread but made with whole wheat! It's so delicious you can't even tell its whole wheat, they have this sweet bread that is drizzled with pilloncillo, it's soo delicious! Our favorite is the whole wheat conchas!! They have regular Mexican bread as well if you don't like the whole wheat option. Oh and take cash because they accept debit card but they charge 50 cents to use it, not a big deal but just an FYI. read more

I LOVE their bread! The conchas with chocolate on top are my personal favorite ! If you never been, you're missing out. Only reason I don't give them a 5 star rating is they always run out of bread like two hours before they close. They never make enough. Plus the place can use a little face lift but if you get there early and take it to go, you're set. read more

I have tried giving this place numerous chances and it always fails. This so called bakery has a very limited bread selection and believe me I am not your average bread eater. I'll crave sweet bread once in a blue moon. But every time I have my sweet bread craving this place is closed! And if I manage to get here during business hours they don't have what I want! I don't know how their still in business. read more

Honestly would love to give a 5 star review because the bread here is amazing! The problem is the hours and sometimes the service. They say they close at 8 Monday-Friday but they do not have any bread by 6 sometimes 6:30. I would understand certain days or a couple of day but it's every single day. The owner is super sweet and caring but there is two workers who are very short with you and come off as rude even if that is not their intention. Again I highly recommend the bread here but just be early. read more

Best pan dulce in town! This beats any pan dulce from a grocery store. The bread is so soft and moist. Not dry and crumbly like other pan dulce can be. The bread also stays fresh for days. Definitely high quality baking. read more

Best bread I ever had. They are a pretty big size. They have all types of different ones with different stuffing in them. I love the arros con leche one and sweet potatoe is the best. But most of all the conchas are the best!! Highly recommend this bakery. read more

After sitting in traffic for an hour and a half, my two baby girls (3.5 and 5months old) were not going to let me stop at a grocery store to get conchas. I looked for a local Bakery and saw this place had pretty good reviews. I called in to see if they could have a bag ready for me because I had my babies in the car and they said yes!!! I literally drove up and popped my head in the door. The gentleman brought me my bags of Pan and even brought me my change. Talk about great service!!! Now we are home and my daughter is in heaven with her Pan Dulce! Thank you so much! I will definitely be returning read more

Best pan dulce! I visited the location in Riverside and was excited that there was a second location closer to my home. Service is friendly and bread is fresh. Unlike the bread you buy at other panaderias, this bread still tastes fresh even 2-3 days later. Cardenas bread needs to be eaten same day or you're stuck with a bricks where your pan was. Had the opportunity to speak with the owner one day! Very nice man! He told me he named his bakeries after his wife! So cool! I also mentioned that the bakery tasted like the pan dulce in Mexico. He said that yes the recipes are authentic from Mexico! I'm a baker and this is my favorite Pan Dulce in all of Moreno Valley! It is the bomb!! read more

This was my first and last time I step into this place i came because my friends told about this place If I was able to give no stars I would because they have really bad service I was asking about a certain bread if they were going to bring out some more first thing she said was I'm not sure mind that it's not busy at all there's no line I'm up next trying order then I asked so can you see if they are bringing out some more out right away she said NO there not making more ok seconds before you said your NOT sure and now their not then she walks away thinking she went to ask she comes back phones rings picks up and then another man walks and she starts to help him and I'm still trying order then she asked me asked me if She can help me with something well yeah I've been wanting to order and you ignored the fact I was next while she's getting my order ready another employee asked what happened and they over there talking about it like I'm not there how rude is that This was unprofessional and I hope the manager does something about it and reads this read more

Love. Love the bread !!!! It's the best I have ever tried !!! The only reason why I don't give it a 5 star is because I feel like it's a hit or miss type of place when it comes to having bread available!!! I feel like they don't have enough available all day . The other day I went and it was 4 hours before closing with not much bread available . But if you want amazing bread here's your place ! Just hope they have some available ! read more

I love conchas I've been to other store bakeries in moval as well as the supermarket bakeries, Im always looking to find out who has the best of what in Moval, i decided to check this place out because of the reviews on yelp and i must say I wasn't dissapointed! I got some Conchas from here and wow the bread was so thick and so soft there wasnt any hard surfaces or burnt surfaces on the bread it was delightful, best conchas ive tried in Moval for sure! They also have other Mexican baked goodies that I have yet to try I would recommend this place to anyone. read more

There was a line for the kiosk and after I ordered my drinks, the line was consistently to the door. There was a very wide selection of drinks to choose from and I appreciate them having unique flavors and twists to drink. I was contemplating between a matcha einspanner and the oksusu (corn) matcha latte. When I asked if there was a way to mix the two, Taylor was super friendly and helpful to explain how each drink was made and differed from one another and then took the time to give me options on how I could change up my drink. I ended up going with the oksusu matcha latte because the Korean in me loves corn drinks but Taylor had the barista add a rim of matcha syrup that you typically get in the einspanner. I loved the oksusu flavored foam with the little crunchy puffs. The matcha flavor was a little lighter than I typically like but still props for the unique take. My hubby got the Hokkaido milk tea. It was definitely a very sweet drink with a caramel like syrup in it which is different than how we've had Hokkaido milk tea at other boba places. If you aren't into super sweet drinks, I would recommend going lighter on the sweet level. You order through the two available kiosks here. I noticed there wasn't up to date menus on Yelp photos so I will upload the different drink options I saw through the kiosk!

They also have some other items for sale like beverages, tostadas, spices, and surprisingly some sushi grade items. There are no tables, so don't expect to be able to eat here, unless you take it to your car. We got some ceviche and aguachiles and everything tasted good and fresh, but a little bit too salty for us. We will be back in a few days to try the cajun boil, and may buy some of the frozen seafood for making our own dishes.

When you're used to having places like Seafood City just around the corner, realizing the nearest Seafood City or Ranch 99 is about 30 minutes away is a real culture shock! That's why I was so excited to find this hidden gem only 10 minutes from my home. Sure, the aisles are narrow, but honestly, it reminds me of the small neighborhood markets back in the Philippines. It adds to the charm and makes the shopping experience feel authentic. You know you've found a good local mom and pop Filipino market when within seconds of walking through the door you spot balut, homemade ensaymada, a fish fry counter, and shelves stocked with traditional Filipino brands in the kind of variety you normally only see at Seafood City. They carry many of the staples and specialty items that can be hard to find in the Inland Empire. This is one of the few places you can get snacks to try, fish balls, or even pastries. For me their stand out is their fish counter. Now they don't have the largest selection of fish, however, they are always fresh and cooked and seasoned to perfection. You can get a light fry or heavy fry. You can get it seasoned lightly or heavily they are great at accommodating. They can even just clean and gut the fish and package it for you to take home and prepare as you best suit it. They typically have tilapia, red snapper, cat fish, and shrimp, but there are some other fish variants as well. As I have become somewhat of a regular they basically know me by name. However they are always kind and treat their customers well. This place is a very welcomed part of the community and we'll recommended to try.
