My friend and I got a Groupon for a 90 minute massage and mini facial for about $66 and wow this is such a good deal! The best way to describe this is it's an upscale environment with Chinatown prices. For 90 minutes at $66?! I don't think you can beat this price anywhere! I asked for a female masseuse because men typically use too much strength and I didn't want to risk that again. The female masseuse had perfect pressure the whole time, no complaints whatsoever. The only thing is I was literally freezing the whole 90 minutes! My friend said that I should have said something and I should have. The room was a couples room and I can hear my friend being very vocal with what she wanted done (she had the male masseuse). The hot stone was decent, usually my favorite but it cooled down too quickly. The scalp massage was decent as well. Personally don't like feet massages so I wanted that to be over and done asap! The facial was nothing special. They clean your face and then apply a mask of some sort that smelled like aloe/avocado? The masseuse didn't waste any time while the mask was masking - she went to work on my feet as well. I appreciated that. My friend didn't want the facial so she got the feet massage only. She also didn't want the scalp massage. The room was also really bright, I would have preferred dimmed lighting. The restrooms were also super clean and spacious. They had paper towels and actual soap dispensers for their soap...this is important! So many East Asian establishments give you the crappy dial bottle with soap so it's all about the details. We purchased a Groupon for a couples massage for feb. 14 as part of a weekend trip (we traveled from 7 hours away). The massages were scheduled for 12:30. The morning of (this morning!) at 8:27, we received an email that our massages were canceled. When I called at 10, when the spa opened, I was told that Groupon had made a mistake as they don't go Groupon on holidays. Why was it not canceled prior to 8:30am on the day of? Masseuse left the room for 2 minutes and didn't say anything so I figured we were done, she came back in while I was getting dressed and showed me the stop watch, which said 30 minutes (and counting). I said, "So we're done then?" She didn't say anything and got 2 of her coworkers to come in and tell me that the massage wasn't over, even though they kept showing me the stop watch which was a few minutes over 30 at this point. All the while, they held the door wide open to the business and I was just sitting there covering myself with the blanket. I asked them 3 times to shut the door so I could change, regardless of whether or not the massage was actually finished. To which they said "the manager will come talk to you." The manager came to tell me the massage wasn't over, but at this point I was fully dressed so I just asked to pay. I explained the situation to the manager and all he really had to say was, "they're not supposed to talk during the massage." I put $30 down on the counter and he said "tip your masseuse." We've been here twice for couples massages and the first time was great - the women masseuse were respectful and gentle. The second time, we had 2 gross men and they were inappropriately groping everything. As in, groping private parts for both me (my buttocks and breast) and my guy (scrotum area). I've had over 100 massages in my life time and I've never experienced the awkwardness and lack of skill displayed here. The men are extremely loud, chatty, and clear their noses and throat phlegm while massaging couples. So much for romantic couples massages. There's also no actual techniques utilized. It's random rubbing. Professional massage spas take an intake form and ask for areas of focus. Here, you walk in and that's sort of it. Lots of punching around. The men also stare you down while you settle out and tip. We actually accidentally overtipped at 40% because we were trying to just get out of there and miscalculated. Even then, they were hounding us down about it. They wanted $30 tip each. That would be 60% tip on a $100 service (cost of the massage for 2). How that makes sense is beyond my understanding. Absurd. Never again. So pros, it's very clean, nice decor and comfortable beds. The receptionist is nice and helpful with any questions. They give a loyalty card that they stamp for every service, after 10 services you get a discount or free service. They accept both cash and card and the prices are good for a spa/massage spot in Chelsea. Before I begin my cons, I have been here 4 times since 2021. My first visit went well, the ladies that did my husband and my massage we're great, understood what we wanted. The 2nd time, it was okay, it felt rushed and the ladies talked through the whole thing. It was hard to relax with some constantly talking and laughing. Some of the masseuses do not speak English very well, which I really don't care, but my last visit the person doing my massage did not understand me and he almost broke my bones. My shoulders hurt so bad, I feel like I have more pain than when I came. I told him many times to go softer, but after a minute or so the pressure was so unbearable I almost cried. He focused only on my upper back when we booked a full body massage. My neck massage felt like I was being murdered and I had to stop him multiple times. Me and my husband were very disappointed. I was able to call and book this place for a couple massage for my sister and I the morning we came for our appointments, which was nice. We arrived half an hour early for our appointment and got settled in. Inside is really nice. The place looks newly built or newly renovated. The two bathrooms inside are big and spacious, and kept spotless. At the desk, they sold us a promotion that included a 90 minute massage, as well as facial. We got inside our room and got into the beds, which were hard as rocks! My sister has a disease where she experiences excruciating pain, and I was nervous that this hard bed would trigger it and cause her to get a crisis. Luckily it didn't. We started the massages at exactly 4:50 PM. The massage itself was decent. My masseuse got some good stretches in. She straddled my head at one point to get a better reach. Halfway through, she began the "facial", which was more of a face wash/rub. Whatever she did, did not qualify as a facial and had I known that's what it entailed, I would have opted out of that. I was also not happy about her rubbing my face, directly after massaging my feet with another oil and NOT washing her hands. We ended the massage/"facial" at 6:11 PM. We expressed to the girl at the front desk that we did not receive a 90 minute massage, but all she could say was that we went back to the room at 4:30 PM. We hadn't even arrived to the spa by 4:30 but we weren't going to go back and forth with her either, so we just paid, left our tips and left, knowing good and well that we will not be returning. read more
