Went with my dad and the customer service was the worst. They practically rushed us out after one plate that didn't have a lot on it. Went with a friend on 1.22.23. Chinese New Year! But they didn't seem to be doing anything special. That said, we enjoyed ourselves. I felt the restaurant was very clean, especially the areas around the buffet. The prices were quite reasonable ($12 at Sunday lunch), and the help staff was on point. I order takeout from here at least once a month. My favorites are the chicken fried rice and the Kung Pao Chicken. Chen's is always fast- your order is usually ready in 10-15 minutes. Their takeout prices are reasonable and comparable to most fast food places and the portions are massive. The ambiance is comparable to any Chinese buffet you've ever been to. Went around 7:30 pm on a Wednesday night and not expecting much since it was late, figured there would be nasty re runs BUT to my surprise it was really good. Waiter was quick and attentive when we got there, gave us space but also took our plates when finished. Atmosphere was nice and peaceful but also lively. For me to give four stars to a Chinese buffet is almost headline-making. I generally approach these things with great caution and, more often than not, I will go inside and take a look at the steam table before committing to eating there. Fortunately, I didn't have to do any prior investigation at Chen's because a trusted friend told me it was excellent--and so it was! Who would have guessed that such impossibly fresh and tasty offerings could be had in such a tiny town (swelled to gigantic crowds, of course, during monthly trade days)? The food was delicious, and I couldn't help but notice how the staff constantly fussed over the buffet, quickly refilling the dishes that were getting low and making sure everything was impeccably clean. Their attention to freshness seemed almost obsessive. My favorite dish? The jalapeno chicken; coconut shrimp was the runner-up. Excellent service at the table, too. I am sick to death of being charged $14.99 for Chen's buffet! Every time we walk in there to get a to go buffet, they hand us a togo box that gets smaller and smaller! In order to compensate the tiny togo box, I put some cucumbers, 1 sushi's roll, and a pinch of kim cheese! You would have thought the world had come to an end and I was scolded and told NO MORE! SOUP ONLY! Their togo boxes are barely big enough to hold a couple of spoons of rice, Lo , and a protein! Anyone who has been in there knows the food it great but it's outrageous to charge such a high buffet price for basically nothing! People like me who like a variety but can't eat an entire meal at one time is getting screwed. I know their buffet togo tray has reduced in size at least twice in the past few month. Anyone who has been in there for togo knows that their togo wouldn't even hold a small burger and fry from McDonalds! Chens should be ashamed and either increase their togo box to a reasonable size or reduce the buffet price to match the size of the box! SHAME! When I went to pay, the lady charged me more because one box had more than a few sushi pieces.. I did not "cram" in any way. When I explained that I was simply keeping hot and cold foods separated, she still wanted to charge more. So I asked if I put half of cold foods in each container, would it still be extra charge? She said she had already rang it up this way.... And I didn't even ask for soup containers.. Which comes w buffet... Ridiculous. I eat here every week. The buffet has a good selection and I have a few favorites. All three soups are good: Egg Drop, Hot & Sour, and Won Ton. The Hot Pepper Chicken is really good - just the right amount of heat. Not a huge selection of sushi, but what they have is good. The kimchi is really good as is the fried rice. Weak dining experience. It was pretty good a couple of years ago and we went all the time. Then, I can't explain it, the food just got gross. We figured it was a one time bad experience and so we waited a month and went back. It was a huge disappointment to see a favorite family restaurant go so consistently bad. Sometimes restaurants struggle to get or keep good staff and I hope Chen's will find the right people and start serving quality food again. I lived in Dallas for a few years and always loved East Buffet off of 183. After moving back to Canton, I was excited to see if Chen's was just as good. All-in-all it's almost as good, which is surprising in Canton. In fact, the biggest complaint I had was the fact that the table was just slightly too high for the booth. That, and the water tasted a little odd, but still better than some places in Canton I know of. The buffet was $8.95 without a drink, and I'm not sure how much a drink is, but I'll probably get one next time. Overall, Chen's was surprisingly good, and it looked like one of the cleanest places in town. (Being in a relatively new building can't hurt.) I'll be coming back for more. read more

They have all the usual suspects as well as a few good sushi items, but the real prize here is the KIMCHI (which is some of the very best I've had anywhere!) and the cucumber salad.
