Chen's is my go-to buffet. My favorites are the coconut chicken and/or shrimp and the bourbon chicken. Yes, the lunch buffet is more expensive than it was before. Everything in this country is now way more expensive than it was before, thanks to the Federal government most Oklahoman's voted for. It costs farmers more to feed the animals, it costs more for the truckers to deliver the food due to skyrocketing fuel costs as the result of the stupidest war in our history. Do not come here, The food is terrible and the waiters are rude and spill water on you. We've wanted to try this place for awhile. So we did. I try to highlight positives in my reviews. I'm struggling. The salad was ok. The Dr. Pepper was ok. That's all the nice I can muster. This place is awesome. Been eating here for 20 years. Great food. The owners are amazing. The coconut shrimp is my fav. Never had to wait more than 60 seconds for a seat. They are not what they used to be. Selection is way less than pre-Covid days. Price is higher, food is often dried out or not hot. If they weren't so close to the house I wouldn't go there. I often leave disappointed saying I won't return. read more

Well, maybe I'm spoiled when it comes to Asian food, but I was unhappy with this restaurant. Their service was spot on and they changed out empty items quickly. The hot and sour soup was very good. Sushi was okay. The rest of the items were "eh". The peel and eat shrimp could not be peeled and still had the "vein" (poop shoot) still inside. And the sushi was okay. Lots of imitation crab, though. The fried rice and lo mean were just wrong. No flavor. Very bland. The beef and broccoli was bland. The crab rangoon didn't seem to have any pineapple or green onion in the cream cheese. The service was great, the atmosphere good. The food, although plenty of it, was really, really lacking. Great spot for an all you can eat Chinese buffet with Mongolian bbq and sushi. We've made it a ritual when in town to come on Sundays for family lunch day. The food is pretty good, decent amount of options, large desert & ice cream area with a huge sushi bar with Mongolian barbecue. Never had an issue with flavor or price. Food here is terrible. The chicken for sweet n sour chicken was old, stale, and disgusting. one piece had a very off taste so I spit it out. The fried noodles for the egg drop soup had been out so long you could break a tooth on it. It's like up until the minute it's time to serve the dinner crowd they leave all the lunch food still out. If you just want all you can eat Chinese food, then Chen's may be a good option. I actually think their food is pretty good and they have all the traditional options. I really like their sautéed mushrooms and soups. Unfortunately, Chen's buffet does not have anything else on top of the traditional Chinese buffet options that a few other buffets in the area offer (i.e. Vietnamese, Italian, Hispanic). Not my favorite buffet but its standard. There I'd about the same selection you'd find elsewhere. While the quantity is average, the food is just below. The sushi person was bored and on his phone, but I can't fault him for that. My friend had the soup and loved it. I thought their egg rolls were okay. Everything else was just barely average. American Chinese food is American Chinese food is American Chinese food. Occasionally, you come across places like this, which makes you reconsider this opinion. Chen's is a shrimp lover's dream. And by dream, I mean it's a heart attack waiting to happen. In my humble opinion, this is by far the best that OKC has to offer as far as Chinese buffets go, and that's not because of a huge selection, but rather because what they have, they do really well. Also, you don't feel like you're dying at the end of your meal. To be honest, I don't even stay for the buffet because it's always so busy in there. So here is my advice to you, fellow Yelper: 1. Go in and tell them that you want to get some food to go. 2. Load up on the following items: Coconut Shrimp, Spicy Shrimp, Coconut Chicken, Salt & Pepper Chicken, and this one Spicy Shrimp/Chicken combo. Get roughly a pound of that. If you want some carbs to balance out the cholesterol, get some rice also. 3. Pay approximately $4.00 for aforementioned pound of food. Touch the katanas (which are Japanese... Weird) while you wait next to the register. You will be glared at if you actually pick them up and swing them though. 4. Talk to your doctor about getting some prescription statins (Lipitor, Crestor, Zocor, etc.) 5. Thank me for teaching you one more way to kill yourself a little faster. And you're welcome. P.S. This may not mean much, but this is also the only Chinese restaurant I've been to where the sushi doesn't taste like absolute garbage. It's rather difficult to review one of these Chinese mega-buffet places, as the spread is generally so wide in such places that dishes can truly run the gamut from pretty damn good to, well, singularly unpleasant. We stop in here from time to time to grab a quick lunch, and I can usually find something that I really like. Other times, though, it's Heat Lamp City and stuff has just been out way too long. This place is pretty good at being a crappy Chinese buffet. It has a larger selection than most places and everything is either mediocre or pretty good. While the sushi is only okay, they have a lot more selection than other Chinese buffets and they have more raw fish items. If you go in with realistic expectations, you are likely to be slightly impressed. My only real complaint is no paper towels in the bathroom. Why would I want to grab a nasty bathroom door handle in the middle of a meal where I may very well be touching my food? It's 2014, get with the program. This place was pretty decent. It's your typical Chinese buffet but better than most buffets that I've tried around OKC. The sushi tasted "ok" as well. It was actually good enough to go back for seconds, unlike some of the places I've been to. There was definitely a language barrier when communicating with the employees here. They ask me what I would like to drink and I asked what kinds of drink they have. They took awhile answer and could only give me like 3 choices so I just picked whatever. The waiter came back and asked if I wanted a refill, I told him I was good. The next thing you know he brings me a full cup of drink!! I was stuffed and I couldn't eat or drink anything else. I feel bad that they'll have to throw the drink away. I told him that I didn't want the drink but all he did was smile and said it was "ok." One of the things I didn't like was how the waiters were carrying a broom and dust pan while holding a drink on the other hand. I saw them deliver a drink to a customer while doing this. I'm sure that he didn't wash his hands afterwards either. It was just unsanitary. Other than that, this place was decent. I had came here for years and decided to try it again. The same manager was there I noticed the guy looked at me and my hubby kinda strange but was like whatever. Food was not really good and like a previous viewpoint the menu is still the same. After reading the view about him saying black people just want free food I will never go back and I'm a proud black American. Best Chinese buffet I've had in a very long time. Even the sushi is yummy! Noticed they have great prices on to go food, as well, but we dined in this time. It's $11.99 for adults for dinner. Not the cheapest I've had, but well worth the price. The food all tasted fresh and it was very clean. I like the selection of Chinese and a few non-Chinese items they have there. My only real gripe is that the servers don't speak English very well so when I order a water with extra ice (something I do regularly) they always bring me a water with very little ice. I am a big fan of buffets in general ! Seeing lots of food and not having to decide what to have is my idea of a great meal. The indigestion , bloated feeling and instant weight gain that follows it does make me regret it later but is forgotten once I see a new buffet place. That is what happened with Chen's. I saw this place right next to Gopuram and decided to try it out. The selection here was pretty vast and as with all buffets, the items varied from good to bad. I don't remember the names of all the stuff on offer but the Mongolian beef and chicken sauces were pretty nice. They had a Pork pastry which was excellent. The dimsums were great too. However, most of the non Chinese stuff was bad and I am not sure why they even had those on this buffet. The pizza wasn't good at all and the sausage stuff they had was very salty. They also have a Mongolian grill type thing where you can get them to make a dish the way you want it and there is a Sushi bar as well. As far as variety goes for the price point it has(7.99 $ per person I think), you can't beat it. The quality across all selections is debatable but that is always the case with large buffets. Here, you will find some stuff that you will like enough to go for second helpings and then some that will make you want to stop and go straight to the dessert section. Like most buffets, quality takes a nosedive when they're not busy. I can't speak to their normal patron volume, but it was nearly nonexistent when I went. So food was sitting out for who knows how long getting all nice and "meh". The sushi was expectedly mediocre. It was sitting out long enough that the ice it was atop made it -too- cold.
