I'm happy to report that THE BUFFET IS BACK! You heard it here. The buffet is back with all of your favorites! We just happened to be in the area a few weeks ago and I was craving some of their delicious catfish and greens. We stopped in, thinking we'd have to order off the menu since they got rid of the buffet post-covid, but we were pleasantly surprised when we were told that the buffet is back. The best part about the buffet is the fact that you can sample several things without committing to ordering an entire dish of it. That said, I tend to stick to my favorites. Their collard greens are fantastic. I also like the scalloped potatoes, red beans and rice, and the fried chicken. The catfish tenders are the absolute best and they are brought to your table as a complimentary item to have along with your meal. Trust me when I tell you that this is the best catfish ever. And they give you a delicious honey mustard dipping sauce to boot. Yes, honey mustard. Trust me, it works! I wish we could get over here more often, especially now that the buffet is back in action. My only complaint is that several of the dishes were empty when we arrived and they didn't get filled before we left. I got a smidgen of greens and was told that they'd be bringing out more, but that didn't happen before we had to leave, unfortunately. The staff are so kind and genuinely happy to have your business. Don't waste your time looking for a Cajun Buffet here. This is not it. When we walked in, no one was there. My wife went to find a table while I looked at the buffet. Then someone came out and asked us if we are wanting the buffet. We said yes and they took out drink orders. The buffet was lacking of actual Cajun food or what you might expect. The greens, green beans, corn and most of the other dishes had a film on the top of them like they had been there for a long time without being replenished or even stirred. The Shrimp Étouffée and the Seafood Gumbo were the typical brown roux but without either shrimp, vegetables or seafood in them. The Jambalaya was just a dark spiced rice without sausage, vegetables, seafood or anything else you would expect to have in it. The ribs or whatever the meat was cut into 1 inch lengths and was mainly bones and was burned. Again I think it had been in the chafing dish for hours. The person working said that he was bringing more out, never saw that. There were 3 steam serving tables but most of the trays were empty. This was on a Friday night during the dinner hours. They did fry up some fish and bring it out. It was strips and was very good. The floor is either waxed with a bad wax or cleaner. You shoes squeak when you walk on it. The men's room was decently clean but needs some attention. There were dead looking bugs in the corners. The toilet rocked when you set on it. Kitchen style paper towels were provided to dry your hands. The power dryer did not work (I dislike those), At least something was provided. They had seating for about 40 people. There was only one other couple there when we entered. They finished and left and another couple came in just before we finished. The place was not as busy as we expected for a Friday evening. That might be the reason for skimping on the dishes available. Their menu service maybe a lot better. Not so for their buffet. The service was not great but then we were serving ourselves except for drink and they were a bit slow on getting those. Unsweet Iced tea and it did not taste like instant, it was good. For the cost, about $20.00 per person, not really worth the value. But that is one we can remove from our list of places to eat. read more

We were so excited to hear that the buffet was back. We both remember it back in the hay day when the restaurant was full with people and everyone loved the food. We got there a little after 5:00 pm not many people there eating yet. I saw the super friendly owner and he told me to have a seat in a booth. The decorations were still the same, very New Orleans. The owner brought out some fresh fried chicken to the buffet and it was what I remember it being. Juicy, hot, fresh with a small kick of spice. The shrimp was big and juicy, and just the right spice. The gumbo, crawfish etoufee, red beans and rice, jambalaya were all fantastic. Cajun King roux is so superior when it comes to the soups. They brought us a plate of fresh catfish and sauce to our table. They still have some kinks to work out keeping up with keeping food on the buffet. The blackened pork chops, hush puppies, and fried okra all needed replenish when we were there. The owner did tell us he was working on getting the frog legs and blackened chicken Alfredo back soon. I am a true Cajun, straight from the bayou in Lafayette, La. My family is an original Acadian family, I am a Thibodeaux. This place brought me right back home. Everything was authentic and AMAZING!! I will start by saying I was very disappointed!!!! I read reviews a few of them mentioned the roux may be cooking to long. I would think as a owner if I saw that review I would take care of it. Nope, I had the same experience, the red beans and rice had a burnt taste. I'm a Chef, alumni of the International Culinary Center. The time it takes to throw out a bad roux and restart another doesn't take any time. The red beans and rice wasn't edible, my chefs wouldn't ever place that on the line. The price for the quality of the food is insane I payed 35 dollars for two adults and one drink. I left a 5 dollar tip, 40 dollars food could be much better. Those dishes can be perfected, it isn't a super hard menu. The batter for the fried chicken had a STRONG CINNAMON flavor, I didn't like it. The yams were burnt not edible. the Mac n chess's runny, I did like the potatoes and string beans. With fresh edible food this place would be a hit. I know it's a pain throwing food out, it isn't worth serving it to customers. In my opinion it seems like making money is valued higher than the food. This is my second time here and everything is pretty good, unfortunately though, the roux used in the gumbo, etoufee, and red beans are cooked at temperatures a bit too high, and as a result those dishes taste a bit burned. The fried meats are delicious - chicken, catfish, and so is the blacked catfish, I didn't try the pork chops and chicken, didn't look as appealing. All the side items are pretty decent, except the grains of rice are a bit hard... In total, I'll give this place 3.5/5. You can't beat the prices here even if you tried and you'll have much to eat. It's been a very long time since I've been here! ( think pre-Covid) and so the format has changed. They have a great menu now, and the food is hot and fresh. I got the C-1, shrimp, chicken and catfish. My sides are jambalaya and fried okra. I'm picky about okra because some places overcook it but not Cajun King! It's fresh and flavorful. Real hit or miss. Hi's and low's. The restaurant itself has a New Orleans vibe and decor and the staff was pleasant enough. Prices were between $8-$15. The good- My boudin balls were really good and the shrimp po'boy was solid. The food was made fresh with fresh ingredients. My meal was probably a 4 out of 5. The fair to bad- the beignets were average at best. Not fluffy and crispy, more greasy and flat. The fried chicken was decent but had an odd seasoning that I can't identify. My other issue may not have anything to do with the restaurant itself as they didn't have the 3 items on the menu that we wanted to order. They said supply chain issues. So we were basically left with the choices of shrimp, fried chicken or catfish ( which I don't really like). Kate said her meal was probably a 2 out of 5. So an average of 3. Cajun King is a favorite place of mine to eat. It's a buffet, and I've got the perfect combo down. You get collard greens, potatoes, jambalaya, and blackened pork chop. My husband always picks other items and is never happy. I tell him it's because he deviates from the perfect combo. With it being a buffet in Oklahoma, you sometimes have to battle for your food. Sometimes people will fill two plates at a time and take every piece of fried chicken off the table. Luckily, you can combat this by eating a ton of catfish that they bring straight to your table. The tiger sauce they serve with it is awesome. There are times where the small staff gets backed up and you have to keep reminding your server for catfish, drinks, or beignets. The food was pretty good, and included in the buffet was some fresh fried catfish (not on the buffet, but delivered to your table if you wanted it, fresh from the kitchen). The nice lady that took care of us was very sweet and friendly. Unfortunately on the day we visited they were having problems with the a/c leaking and dripping down from the ceiling into the restaurant around the buffet. They were doing their best to mitigate that problem, and heck, stuff happens. I'm not the person to pile negativity on someone for something that can happen to anyone. Came here to take my son for his birthday to have beignets because he loves beignets but As soon as we walked in here we already knew by the look on the ladies face she didn't want us here. We were friendly and really didn't give her any reason to be rude but as soon as a young gentleman came in she starts laughing and showing good customer service. Brought to your table right out of grease. And they have a sweet "tiger sauce" they serve with it. Yum The gumbo is real Cajun gumbo. Spicy. Onions. Brown roux. No tomatoes in sight! Andouille and crab meat. The roux for the etoufee was a bit over cooked. But it would have been good otherwise. Bread pudding right on. They had a pecan sauce you could pour over it. They have other things on the bar. Boudin balls. Crab balls. Red beans. Sorry the jambalaya did not look like jambalaya so I did not try it. Blackened catfish. Frog legs. Fried shrimp. Mac and cheese. Alfredo. Bread. Etc. Needless to say, don't eat anything before you go. It's a simple little store front buffet decorated with cheap green purple and gold decorations to give it that New Orleans feel. And the music is zydeco--my husband and I both love that. I was so excited to go here for Marci Gras. We were able to get right in for a table, but they were out of EVERYTHING. The classic Mardi Gras Foods were gone, there were no plates at the buffet to eat with, no ketchup (omg!), and I was getting up myself for water. I guess some people are hateThe bring you fresh catfish and fresh beignets to the table and in my opinion, it is truly the best catfish I've ever had. It's white and cleaned and perfectly cooked with a lemony-sweet sauce. You can tell it's truly catfish though, because once in awhile you get that catfishy taste. Second, the beignets are the best I've found in okc. They are heavier than what I've seen locally, less like a sopapilla and more like a doughnut, which is how a beignet is supposed to be. They usually have friend chicken on the buffet and you can tell it's battered here, because if the garlicky-smoky-slightly spicy flavor. I like the crawfish etouffee.
