It was nice coming back to a restaurant from my childhood. Our friends really rave about this place--it's one of their favorite Asian buffets--so they wanted to bring us here. It had been over 15 years since my last visit, and surprisingly, not much has changed. What really makes this buffet stand out is the Vietnamese station, where you can build your own pho, udon, or egg noodle soup, along with sampling dishes like bánh xèo and bánh cuốn. That's mostly what I focused on. The udon broth was flavorful and comforting, though I do wish there had been more meat options available--it felt like we caught the tail end of a batch. I also tried some of the more typical buffet offerings like chow mein, chicken wings, and beef and broccoli. They were decent overall, but the food leaned noticeably sweet, especially the chow mein, and several dishes were lukewarm. Desserts were pretty underwhelming. The only thing I enjoyed was the soft-serve ice cream; the chocolate wafers were stale, and the rest didn't stand out. On the plus side, service was great. One of my all-time favorite Chinese/Vietnamese buffets. I've been going here for years, and the food is consistent! There is a large variety of meats, seafoods, stir-frys, etc. to pick from the buffet, and there is a dedicated Vietnamese food section that offers a variety of noodle soups, spring rolls, as well as banh xeo that are made fresh to order. There is also a Mongolian grill where you can build your bowl, and they will stir-fry it in front of you. Don't forget dessert as there is quite the selection of sweet snacks and treats, and there is even an ice cream machine with a toppings bar. There really is something for everyone! I would not expect the tastiest and best meal ever, but it definitely satisfies your cravings. I have found the food to be fresh every time I come, and the buffet stations are clean. We came here for a family reunion dinner with a party of 13 and had a reservation. We were seated immediately despite the restaurant being pretty crowded on New Year's Day. The restaurant is spacious and still has that classic Chinese restaurant feel from decades ago. The food stations were relatively clean and refilled frequently. There is an enormous selection of food and never a wait to serve yourself. The holiday special for crab legs was good for the cost. Plates of crab legs and drawn butter was brought out to your table from the servers. The staff is friendly and very attentive in taking away our plates and refilling beverages. Fried rice did not taste good, meats for Habachi did not seem kept at a good temperature, flow of buffet does not work week as people come it at both ends and as well in middle, I would like to try out the pho set up but left because food and Habachi were too bland. Diet Dr Pepper also did not taste right(maybe the syrup was running low?)... staff was really kind and tables were clean though I would suggest wiping dry as table top was very wet. Golden Palace is my favorite Chinese buffet in Oklahoma City. Besides having the usual Chinese buffet items, it also has a variety of Vietnamese food and desserts. I don't really have much to say regarding the Chinese buffet line. The food is fresh because it's busy most of the time. I really go to Golden Palace for the Vietnamese food including pho, bánh cuốn, vermicelli, bánh xèo, and chè. The bánh xèo at this buffet is quite tasty. Seriously, it's even better than at some other restaurants. It's really and crispy when eating right away. The pho is quite good as well, broth is not all there yet but I can't complain since after all this is a buffet. The beef can be smelly depending how long it has been sitting outside. They make excellent Vietnamese desserts as well, only have chè though. Golden Palace is now go-to buffet in Oklahoma City. Whoever came up with adding that Vietnamese buffet line is genius, and sign of a good business marksmanship. I've added it to my favorite Asian restaurants in Oklahoma City. Food became cold immediately after grabbing it off of the bar. They did not separate food from the grill while cooking, even though it was in different dishes. Otherwise, food wasn't that bad. Surroundings contained many lanterns, statues, and flowers. The people I had met there were friendly, with servers making quick refills. Overall... it had good and bad qualities. Not a bad buffet if you want to experience all you can eat Vietnamese and Chinese food. The best time to go is around 3:30pm because you get the lunch price but dinner food which starts at 4pm during the week day. The waiters are pretty good. They are helpful and attentive. They will make sure your glass is full at all times so you drink more and eat less. The owner sometimes comes and they're very nice people. Sometimes I have a great experience here and sometimes I don't. Sometimes the food is excellent and sometimes it's just mediocre or terrible. My favorites are the foods at the Vietnamese bar on the left side of the restaurant. I always try a little bit of this and that. Their thit nuong aka grill meats are really good. They closed the one in Midwest city so drove across town. Was plenty of parking and we were seated right away. Buffet was pretty well stocked. They have a Mongolian grill, pho bar and all the normal food plus some oddities as well. Everything was hot and fresh and for the most pretty tasty. The kitchen kept the buffet stocked and the servers were keeping the tables clean. Did not get a refill on my water but really wasn't an issue. Got my Chinese fix for a while now. The buffet has a Mongolian BBQ section but there is only one choice of sauce and flavor. I went in for lunch and was not impressed. I did not expect to see so much Vietnamese food, especially soups, but I was in the mood for more traditional Americanized Chinese dishes. Hot and sour soup was not right at all, just all pepper. Chicken dishes were stale. Sushi was limited to only California and other simple rolls. Egg rolls were okay but not fresh. I missed the crab rangoon somehow. Chow mein was cold. Mongolian bbq was only way to get hot noodles. Though busy we were seated right away. Staff were friendly. But watch your step! I've eaten with these people since 1992 when they were at 50th and Shartel. The owners are very nice people and hands on. They have two restaurants. The one here on south Meridian is Pan Asian and the one in Midwest City is Chinese. I can't say enough good about these two restaurants. Food is usually very fresh. Both are large restaurants. The busier they are of course the fresher the food. I love everything they make. They also have Shrimp Spring Rolls but you must ask for them. They are on the soup line area not on the buffet side. No extra charge but very good. They have a Mongolian Grill at both places. That is a treat all by itself. Great selection of raw meats and veggies. Cooked before your eyes. Be sure to give the guy a tip for cooking your food just right. A dollar is usually enough. He works hard. The buffet line is about a 100 feet long if not longer. You'll fid just about anything you can think of to eat. Usually cooked to perfection. Very good food. Service is great. They take good care of you. Desserts are okay. Nothing fancy. About the only good thing I can say is that our waitress was really friendly. But the food...oh my goodness, just awful. Granted we did come about 2:00, which I do not like to eat at buffets other than peak lunch or dinner times. A better chance of fresh food then. It was definitely not fresh today. Golden Palace is in the area by the airport... it is a Chinese buffet w a Vietnamese side made to order food. The place is spacious and pretty roomy. I usually eat here bc I love their banh xeo. It's hard to find any viet restaurants that make banh xeo fresh. FRESH. You can order to go or dine in. On the viet side, there's a lot to chose from. You can make your own pho, bun rieu, bun Moc and several others. I like to order banh cuon and spring rolls... since it's all made to order, you can't go wrong w it. On the Chinese side, there's a variety of food to choose from like your orange chicken, beef and broccoli, fried rice etc. they also have sushi and dessert but I never get to it bc I am so full.
