Ok, after being angry I will not be mad at this dental office... it's more the insurance company that I am extremely angry at, please read the post below, I shared this on facebook and to VA and others that should be concerned. Can't complain about the staff or the dentist... but this insurance thing has got to be fixed! I give ideas below.--------- Let's discuss dental insurance and how it works. When I learn, I share the knowledge. For my recent dental work involving four crowns with an out-of-pocket cost of $8,000, Delta Dental and MetLife collectively paid out only $1,000. Upon reviewing my policy and consulting with Delta Dental, I discovered that their payout structure is based on the amount I've paid into the system, essentially functioning like a savings program. Furthermore, due to having a bridge installed four years ago, I was informed by the insurance company that Delta and MetLife won't cover any work in the same tooth area for five years. It's crucial to thoroughly examine your insurance policy, considering deductibles and previous dental work within specific timeframes, as this significantly impacts your coverage. Perhaps considering an alternative approach, like a personal savings plan for dental expenses, might be more beneficial. Delta made 9 billion in revenue 2024. read more

Cherokee Trail Dental Review As an African-American doctor and 100% disabled wartime veteran, I have never experienced such blatant disrespect and unprofessionalism as I did at Cherokee Trail Dental in Southlands. From the very beginning, I was treated with lies, hostility, and total disregard for both my service and my humanity. The front office staff--particularly a young woman who should represent professionalism--displayed the opposite. Instead, she consistently lied, instigated conflict, and showed one of the most mean-spirited attitudes I have ever encountered in a healthcare setting. After one simple comment I made about professionalism--suggesting they close their doors during meetings instead of leaving patients standing confused--she targeted me, creating excuse after excuse to delay or refuse my care. This included canceling pending treatments and making me wait weeks without the necessary dental work I had already been approved for through the VA. Their behavior is not only disrespectful, but it borders on demonic in its unapologetic lies and lack of accountability. As a disabled veteran who fought for this country, to be treated with such contempt and cruelty is beyond unacceptable. I was forced to file an official legal complaint against this organization because their conduct is discriminatory, unprofessional, and toxic. My recommendation is clear: no veteran, no person of color, and truly no patient at all should trust Cherokee Trail Dental. I first should say Dr. Kang is great. The rest of the experience however, was pretty terrible. I should have known to stay away when I first called for an appointment. I had to talk with two different people in a call center and they couldn't tell if my insurance was in network and English did not appear to be the first language. I wound up going because it was in network and close to the house. I was seen three times for a cracked crown. The first time I had a temporary crown placed. The second was after my temporary crown broke. When I went back the second time they did not have the right model used for my crown and could not give an answer as to why the model didn't fit right. When I asked what happened, they just said it had my name on it so it must have been right. The front office staff and office manager were not the kindest nor the most professional today for my third visit. I knew something was off when I heard the two ladies at the front talking (not kindly) about a patient who had just called. Made me wonder what they said about when I came up and asked to speak with the office manager about my bill. I originally asked about my bill when I first arrived for my appointment - the receptionist told me I couldn't be seen without paying my balance even if I wanted to wait to pay the balance until my insurance EOB came through. She also told me there is no one to talk with about insurance claims. I asked to speak to the office manager after my appointment about my bill. This lady talked down to me the entire time while looking at me like I was wasting her time. She said about five times "just as you agreed to when you first signed your care plan". She also said it was a corporate matter and out of their hands. Bless her heart. She should be ashamed of herself and probably find a different job if her main goal is to try and make others feel so terrible. Again, Dr. Kang is great. Rest of this business is ridiculous. While writing this review, I found they have an F through the BBB which tracks. I'll be looking for another dentist because I don't want to go to a place where the people make you feel so cringy. read more

This dental practice continues to double-bill me for services received and paid for 2 years ago. All attempts to communicate with them have been ignored. They are completely rude and unprofessional. My insurance company called them to tell them that they submitted the bill twice for the same date of service and they refused to accept what the insurance company told them. STAY AWAY! Update: Brident dental corporate office contacted me to inform me of what data this office is collecting on people. From that conversation, it sounds like this office uses third-party services to pull insurance and patient data for marketing purposes even if you've never been to this office. This is in direct violation of 45 CFR part 164 regarding HIPPA privacy. This company appears to send your personal information overseas based on the multiple requests and conversations requesting to stop using my personal data without my consent. Throughout the conversations I was consistently transferred to people in India asking for additional personal information. Not sure how HIPPA allows this. Heather, the office manager, will not even speak to me regarding this breach of privacy and inappropriate use of patient data which speaks in and of itself after she was made aware of it. Would recommend a different dentist or clinic if you value your personal information. read more

I have a little bit of dental background, first I want to say that the office manager is extremely rude and confrontational. I was just surprised by the way she was speaking to another patient as I was waiting to get called back and I would just like to say for future patients to avoid this place at all cost. This office is not where you want to trust your dental services to. I used to bring my two younger children here and we stopped coming because they both said the assistants were unfriendly and very "rough" Not to mention the back office is very dysfunctional with billing and scheduling. My adult son chose to stay here and today I accompanied him for wisdom teeth removal and that staff was also very unfriendly and short in answering my questions prior to the procedure. Not to mention they don't voluntarily review anything about the procedure and post procedure instructions until you're trying to load your drugged up child in the car . They also seem to take a lot of shortcuts...two of my other children had their wisdom teeth removed elsewhere just a few months ago at Dr Cameron Auger's office (highly recommend) and they prescribed preventative antibiotics and steroids to help with healing, when I asked them about it the assistant simply said "no we don't do that here." To validate my experience, while we were waiting to go back , another patient came out and went to the desk to say he was not comfortable finishing his routine appointment because the experience he just had with the staff. Tried giving my feedback to the front desk and they seemed annoyed and distracted as she kept looking back and forth from me to her computer screen. Oh, and the plexiglass glass between the front desk and patients is about as cold and in-friendly as it gets! read more

Originally paid for one implant in my upper teeth and scheduled several in my lower front. They extracted my upper, put in a post and temporary cap. I tried to postpone my lower work due to cost. Now they're refusing to put the permanent upper tooth in place of the temporary cap until I do the lower. The upper tooth has been paid for completely. Weird but I feel like I'm a victim of extortion. read more

Had procedure in early October 2024. I submitted a check for $207.00. The procedure wasn't as expensive as thought. I was told I would get a refund check in two weeks. I went back today, two months later, and was told it would be six months before I received a refund check for $137.00. I was told it was Corporate who was holding up the check. Cherokee Trail has an excellent team of hygienists, dental assistants, and dentists. That's unfortunately where anything excellent ends. I received a deep cleaning and 4 fillings after 10+ years of going without seeing a dentist. The deep cleaning was mostly painless and the fillings were completely painless and frankly the most pleasant experience I have ever had at a dentist-- something I think most people cannot say about getting drill work and fillings done. The first red flag I should have seen was random additional charges showing up on my cleaning bill; I was billed for "extra descaling" at the time of the cleaning because my teeth had "excess buildup from years of going without seeing a dentist." The second red flag I should have paid heed to was being quoted one price for all the filling work, then having a different price at time of payment after the procedure, and then receiving a different price altogether when I disputed the second price. Overall I had still thought some of the additional charges made sense and that I was somehow getting off easy for not seeing a dentist for 10+ years. Then I started receiving bills for $104 and change. Weird, I thought I had squared up at every visit. After numerous, and I mean NUMEROUS attempts to reach Cherokee Trail dental through their call center and calling their direct phone number I finally reached someone responsible for billing. I was told after a short time on the phone that the amount was being billed in error and would be requested for adjustment/write off. I was sent a document through email showing the request being make to CTs billing folks. Then I received more "past due" letters. And more. And more. All the whole trying to follow up on the earlier statement made that my "overdue" account would be adjusted to a $0 balance. After reaching out many, many times via email I received a nasty email from a "new" accounting/billing contact for CT saying that they would not be adjusting the account and I would need to pay the $104 balance, or I would be sent to collections. I'll stop here to mention that medical debt, for anyone having issues with CT, does not show up on your credit report for 1 year after the actual treatment, so they can send you to collections but you have sufficient time to get it resolved before it will hit you with any penalty. Finally, I'd had enough. I reached out to my dental insurance provider and spent an hour on the phone to find out I was GROSSLY overcharged on a number of services rendered, and Cherokee Trail actually OWES ME $200. My insurance provider Delta Dental reached out and was told by CT staff that there had been a shuffle in management and they would need about 3 weeks to refund me. I have yet to see the refund, but I have been assured that if they do not take action within the coming week a quality of care dispute will be opened through the insurance provider. I would highly suggest this approach if you are having the same issues. I would absolutely not recommend ever going to Cherokee Trail dental unless you have the patience of a saint and are at the same time willing to stand your ground with a sleazy, dishonest practice. read more

Billing dept is a nightmare. I have transferred to this office and have only had a couple of appointments, however I get bills months later and am not able to get a hold of anyone to help explain what these bills are for. I paid what they told me was owed on the date of service, however they are now saying that it changed. Now after being sent to collections and 5 attempts to resolve they called stating I am liable for payment. *remember when they give you a treatment plan that the cost may change and you are subject to that difference months/year later. read more

Went in for a covered cleaning and was told off the bat that the first visit would just be an exam to see what cleaning I would need. Was told (before exam even started) that a deep cleaning would not be covered by my insurance. I am suspicious that hygienists might be getting bonuses for doing deep cleanings--this is just a feeling, because it felt very "set up." Having moved a lot and gone to 7 different dentists over the past decade I have never, ever, been turned away for a regular cleaning, but I sure was here! It very much seemed like they were trying to scam me--so either poor communication, or predatory practices. Either way, I won't be going back! Hygienist is great. Very friendly, caring and thorough. I only come in every 6 months for cleanings. With every single visit the previous dentist has left and there is a new one. They have an exchange that answers their phone and it's a tedious irritating process to get through to the actual practice. I tried to get a copy of a receipt for a recent visit and have literally called FIVE times now with no result for a very simple request. Beware. This place is under new management. I would not even give 1 Star but I have to in order to leave a review. They are out for your money and nothing else. They charged for services not explained. They told me they were doing this and that, not explaining that it was NOT part of a routine dental exam and that there would be extra charges for it. They also kept trying to upsell me on products and procedures and I declined. Imagine my surprise when I was charged for over $450 not covered by my insurance at the end of my 'routine' cleaning. I have rarely been charged any extra for a routine cleaning. They charged me for a fluoride varnish application that I declined, did not receive and did not notice on the lengthy bill at the completion of my exam. They want their payment NOW and they threaten to turn you over to a collections agency if you do not pay. Their manager Heather is terrible to work with, calling you a liar, hanging up on you when you try to explain your position and not allowing you to speak to her boss. She is very controlling and has no customer service skills. Run as fast as you can away from this unprofessional, unethical and uncaring practice. They are a disgrace to dental professionals. They are continuing on the exceptional practice that previously held the name Cherokee Trail Dental that they took over. read more

If only negative stars were a thing. I swore last year that I'd never set foot in there again, but in January caved due to a dark spot that had appeared on a tooth after no cleaning since 2022. After a reschedule at their request, I was able to see the Dentist on a Saturday. She asked why I hadn't been in and I explained my frustration with rescheduling and the repeated money grabs for deep cleanings. (On one previous visit, they didn't even perform the cleaning, but delayed to try to get insurance approval for yet another deep cleaning. Needless to say, insurance didn't approve and there was no communication to reschedule. No cleaning that time, either.) The dentist from my visit assured me that things were getting better there. She performed a cursory cleaning but explained that I needed to come back to see the hygienist for a full cleaning. I left work today (and drove/hit tolls to get there in time) only to get over there to tell me that they had canceled my appointment. "Notes" said that they had left me a message yesterday when in fact, the only message I had yesterday was to confirm. The front desk refused to allow me to speak with the office manager. She completely stonewalled me and they refused to give me the name of the person who supposedly left me a message. I am BEYOND frustrated after being told things were going to get better, only to have the wheels fall off again on the VERY NEXT visit. Save yourself a lot of headache and skip this dentist. I have been going here for 12 years and since they transitioned to this new group it has been a complete nightmare. The staff is horrible especially Latrell. She is unprofessional and rude! They don't know how to bill insurance and constantly cancel my appointments. This place is straight trash and I will not be surprised when they go out of business in the next year. I have recommended them for years and now I highly recommend people avoid them. It took months to get an appointment, then they cancelled it. I waited another 6 weeks to be rescheduled only to have them cancel again because they said I didn't call them back with insurance information 24 hrs before my appointment except I did, but they do not answer their phones. Even the answering service couldn't get them to answer. Despite the fact my husband called with that info a week prior to his appointment which they also rescheduled. When I called the OM refused to call me back and the girl on the phone just didn't seem to care at all. We have been coming here for probably 10 years. Recently since there has been a change in ownership it has gone downhill. Appointments canceled at the last minute. To top it off this office was no longer in our insurance network and we were not notified. We found out after insurance claims were denied and we were charged out of network rates. If I could give negative stars I would. They do not even deserve one. We have been going to CTDC for 15 years. Dr. Novak and his staff were amazing. Fast forward - Dr. Novak leaves practice, Brident buys practice, nightmare begins. EVERY 6 months for the last year and a half our appointments are rescheduled MINIMUM of three times. This most recent visit in October was the kicker. I kept getting EOB stating the claim for my son was rejected, so I called them and asked them to correct and rebill. THREE times later, I get an EOB for an out of network provider! They never informed me that NONE of their providers were even ACTIVE with Delta and did not become NETWORK providers until December, yet they were continuing to treat patients. Do your self a favor and stay FAR FAR away from this office and ANYTHING affiliated with Brident. Also, this says they are open until 430 on Friday, but when I called to hash this out, Brident call center said I have to take up with the office, who by the way is no longer open on Friday. We had been a member of Cherokee Trail Dental and were very satisfied with their care. Recently they were bought by Brident Family Dental and it has been very discouraging. My husband has a routine dental cleaning which was always a routine prophylactic cleaning. This time the hygienist did a " periodontal maintenance cleaning. Which cost twice as much. They were not able to tell me the difference between the two types of cleaning. My husband says it was no different. I will no longer go to this office. read more

I've been trying to reschedule an appointment for one of my sons for 2 days. After waiting on hold for 5 to 10 minutes, I am transferred to a call center , who then puts me on hold to try to contact the office. After another 5 to 10 minutes, and then sent back to the call center. After losing my will to live, I've decided to cancel both appointments (if I ever manage to get through) so I can look for another office. I have used this office for a couple years and never had a problem before it was acquired by a large dental conglomerate. I was never able to contact the office directly and ended up having to leave another message with the call center to cancel the appointments. I was on the fence about going back to this office after our last cleanings anyway. They charged me an extra $30 for showing my teenage son how to floss his teeth. read more

Horrible billing. Delta dental and I had to call several times to clarify the bill. They claimed we were new patients and billed it that way and it was not covered because we have been going there for years. They used the wrong code and Delta showed I owed them nothing. They claimed differently and would not resolve the issue. They hung up on me, would not let me talk to a manager and it took Delta Dental 3 calls. We have had so many issues since paying for my son's orthodontist services up front. This location was acquired by a larger entity and cancelled the orthodontist services, requiring a visit to other affiliate locations in the Metro area. We have been charged misc. fees and this has been a complete mess. The service level and communication was so poor that my son had braces for many many months after the expected removal date...+ enduring broken brackets or protruding wires due to lack of availability, even through other locations. No returned calls, misc. bills, no direct contacts, lack of an on-site orthodontist, an over all poor experience. Save yourself a ton of time & headaches...choose one of the other reputable dentist in the area. We have left a number of calls and emails- without responses. I'm sure someone will respond to this note stating "We wish you had a better experience..." don't fall for it, not worth rolling the dice. read more

It should be zero stars. But there is no such option. Year and a half ago, I scheduled a cleaning. They called me 2 days before my appointment and asked me if i wanted to reschedule. I could not and they told me to come in. After a half an hour ride there and waiting for another half an hour, they told me that they could not see me that day. It literally killed my desire to go there. Its just i dont want to go through another round of xrays somewhere else. I recently tried to schedule a cleaning again. The call was picked up in some english speaking country on another continent. They said, they'd call me back. Never did. I do not even understand how they are in business. My family had been going to Cherokee Trail since the day it opened. It was amazing. The office Manager Ms. Amy, ran that place like a tight ship. Unfortunately some other company came in to Cherokee trail and bought the practice. I tried calling about a year and half ago to schedule a dental cleaning. Every time I called the office said it was closed. I did finally get a hold of someone and their accent was so heavy, I couldn't understand them. Their call Center is overseas. They couldn't help me schedule an appointment. I gave up. They were sending us a bill that was not our bill, my husband called the office manager every day for five days. The front desk would not give my husband the managers direct number. They said that she would have to call him. Again when he calls the English is so broken and can't understand. After he called in for five days straight, with no callbacks. He went into the office. Explain the bill was not ours. our son has been off of our insurance for over four years. They still were adamant about us paying the bill because that's how it originally was set up 18 years ago!!Even though our son had his own dental insurance. This place is a joke. The ladies at the front desk were very defensive, unhelpful and actually told my husband to leave. We are still in such disbelief over the lack of professionalism. It's almost as if you are walking into a 3rd world country dental store! Top it off the Dr chipped my son's front tooth while he was looking at his teeth! I wouldn't walk away, I WOULD RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN! By the way, the "office manager" has still not called my husband back! I had been with Cherokee Trail Dental for years and bragged to my family and friends about how much I loved the office - specifically Dr. Novak. Since they were bought out by Brident the services and treatments have been awful. I reluctantly had filling done by Dr. Chhabra - she was rough, her instruments were banging around my other teeth, she pulled my hair by leaning over me, and let my filling with an edge that would get caught on my floss. I had enough and switched dentists. After repeated calls to get my x-rays emailed to me I finally started at a new office and the first thing they noticed was that the exact tooth I JUST had filled was done poorly and was already cracking. Now I'm having to appeal my insurance because of the frequency in which the same tooth needed work done. After calling their offices all week, with either no answer or frustrating workers, I was told they would send me my files after I completed a release form...I never received it. Thank goodness I can log into my insurance company's website and print out previous claims. Save yourself the frustration and go somewhere else! (My new dentist said they've gotten tons of new patients from this office for the same reason!) So sad and frustrating. read more

**SCAM WARNING** Thieves and charletains. My wife just got home from Cherokee Trail. They claimed she needed $2100 "special cleaning" which would not be covered by insurance, not ironically the same BS they told me (more on that shortly). Also told her she would need to pay for a night guard fitting... Wait for it "not covered by insurance". They claimed she grinds her teeth at night DESPITE my wife's arguments that when she was a kid they filed her teeth flat when she got braces. That apparently was not reason for them not to try and pressure her for more unnecessary and not covered expenses. They then refused to do a regular cleaning if she didn't pay the unneeded charges. So she left, past another patient screaming at them for trying to overcharge her. This was the exact same thing they tried on me, minus the night gaurd. They refused to do a cleaning. claiming I would have to pay them out of pocket for "special cleaning". I haven't had a cavity in 30 years since I was 15. They would not even do the xrays. We have been going to Cherokee Dental for YEARS. Since Brident bought it out, it has been HORRIBLE. Just this week, I called their "customer service" to ask about a bill I'd received. The number on the bill never works. I finally looked up their corporate number and was able to get a number to their "backroom" (weird huh?). I told them they had not been submitting their invoices to my insurance. They told me they had all been "denied". I asked for a detailed report of ALL of my 2023 visits. They said they do not provide that type of information, and, I'd have to get it from my insurance (which has no record of getting ANYTHING from Brident or Cherokee this whole year.) So, I'm having my insurance try and deal with them. Oh, on top of that, after asking WHY I couldn't get a record of all of my/my wife's visits and a detailed set of invoices, I was again told, "No, they did not do that." I said I've always been able to get that type of information to submit to my dental insurance, and, if I'm unable to, what am I supposed to do...they said, I think you should look for another provider...GREAT customer service huh? Horrible customer service. I would go to any other dentist. My husband had a crown a year ago. It cracked the other day. We assumed due to the age of the crown (it should not be cracking that soon) that they would fix it no charge. Not the case. They said because my husband missed his 6 months cleaning appointment that it would be billed to insurance and we would have to pay our portion. Stay far away!! What a bunch of clowns. We've had the absolute worst experience with Cherokee Trail Dental. I think this is the first review I've ever done for a business, but I am going to spend my valuable time writing this review in the hopes that I can keep others from going to this dentist office. I am that livid because of their complete disregard for customer service. They charged us upfront for orthodontic treatment of our son, then discontinued the service at the Southlands office. And no one, neither in their local office nor their corporate office, would get back to me after numerous calls. We had to travel all the way to Perfect Teeth in Park Meadows to complete his treatment, but only after several delays as they didn't have orthodontists. Now we are receiving miscellaneous bills. DO NOT RECOMMEND. This place was bought out and it's now terrible service, unorganized and scheduling is a nightmare. My last 2 appointments have had to get rescheduled twice and today I went for a cleaning and was told my doctor didn't come in today and they didn't have anyone else to see me. It was scheduled for 3:30pm so why didn't I get a courtesy call in the morning telling me not to come? I drove 30 minutes to the clinic, wasted my time and gas and missed my work for nothing.
