I've eaten at Cherry Creek Grill several times. The food is consistently good for a corporate chain of 50 restaurants. Unfortunately, they have terrible policy of asking people to remove their ball cap or hats. Today, a windy and cold day the host asked me to remove my cap. I politely declined and then he changed to more forceful tone. Again I declined, and he pushed harder to a point he angered me. Corporations may dictate and control policy of their employees. But they are here to serve customers. The thing is there was another person at the bar wearing a hat which I pointed out and during the course of our 45 minutes in the location I counted two additional other customers wearing caps. This is a casual restaurant in Denver, it's not highly fashionable chef driven experience. No matter how they perceive themselves it is a homogenized concept. Secondly, after I declined and pointed out other persons in non-compliance of this ridiculous policy the host then started to tell me that I was disrespecting him. Which by the way is a narcissistic DARVO way of claiming victim status that is absolutely inappropriate by anyone no matter the color of their skin or gender. $88 for lunch is not cheap. And the hosts tone tainted not only the experience but destroyed my mood. I explained to the host that my upset tone wasn't personal against him, but rather my distaste for an unwarranted humiliation of the customer. I'm very tired of high prices, expectations for 18%-22% tipping for average but not exceptional service. Why Do We Forgit Our Favorites? It had been way too long since we visited CCGRILL but decided on a whim to return. Oh my!! Macho salad better than ever. So so fresh and delicious ingredients. Let me tell you that these folks have the best French Dip I've ever had! They always put Colorado Lamb as the primary meat in there for me when I ask. Additionally, they helped make my proposal there on 26 December 2023 a major success! I got a cake from the Taste of Denmark Bakery on 21 December and the GM stored it at her house for 5 days! Unfortunately the cake collapsed a little bit on one end but they covered it up with flowers to make it look beautiful! The Head Chef, the GM and the Server made sure that we had the best experience possible and went above and beyond. The server also took a video that will be unforgettable. Basic, OLD CC Staple that has been exceptionally consistent for decades. But THAT is the problem. It never changes. If you want the nitty-gritty, order either the french dip or the macho salad. Skip the apps. Get the cornbread (if they have it). Skip dessert. If you want a filet or cocktails, CCG is overpriced for the slightly better than average fare. The bar is thin and the bartenders are robots that lack creativity. Service is exceptional though and the location cannot be beat. Parking can be a hassle but that is more an issue with Cherry Creek North rather than CCG. On the apps list, the Deviled Eggs are passable. I guarantee you that deviled eggs are better at any tailgate and the deviled eggs offered at CCG are a bit mayo heavy. The sad thing here is that deviled eggs are the best canvas for culinary creativity and for 20 years, CCG has provided poster art (to continue the metaphor). The Jumbo Shrimp app is the standout as meaty shrimp perfectly cooked and the lemon and tartar sauce are respectable traditions. But again, just standards done in a standard way. The artichokes are a mixed bag, often cooked firm or mushy. They are simply unremarkable when compared to other places. Not bad. Not rave worthy. The Famous French Dip is flavorful and never contains the fatty/grisly portions. The bread has a beautiful crust that doesn't sandpaper the roof of your mouth and I am very partial to the fries it comes with when dipped in their unique "spicy mayo." The Macho Salad is a hearty portion with absolutely fresh ingredients every time. The mistake is ordering the filets. At $55 for a 4-6oz cut, go to a proper steak house (like Elway's across the street). Again, the filet is regularly prepared to proper temperature as are the sides but here too is an unremarkable dish. I am convinced that CCG (previously Bandera's, in that day) has survived all this time on consistency and location. It is walking distance to the myriad of townhomes just to the East where a large number of disposable incomes are content to demand very little. Again, the food is good, it will rarely be served with errors but in dining at CCG for over 20 years, it has NEVER been a memorable event, it never comes to mind as a "go-to" restaurant. With the talent for consistency it keeps a four-star rating. Lack of any semblance of culinary creativity keeps it from the fives. read more

This place was pretty good! We had a reservation for 8p on a Wednesday and it was pretty busy for the area. We thought the portion sizes we decent for the price and location, although we didn't get any alcohol or any of the more expensive dishes. The appetizers: deviled eggs and cornbread bites. Tasty, you get 3 half eggs and 6 1-inch cubes of cornbread and these were the cheapest apps. For our main dishes we got the French dip and lamb sandwiches with fries. We ate at the Cherry Creek Grill for the first time on Friday night. Glad we made reservations because people were waiting an hour for people who didn't make reservations. Our table was waiting for us when we arrived. The hostess that showed us to our table asked us if we knew what we wanted to drink, so she could put that in while we wait for our waiter. Nice touch. When the waiter brought our drinks a coke and a makers mark manhattan we placed two appetizers. The cornbread and the pan seared ahi tuna. The tuna was seared perfectly and melted in your mouth. The almond sauce had a nice flavor that went well with the tuna. The salad with mango, avocado, and cucumber could have been its own appetizer it was so good. The corn bread was served warm, but could have used a little hot sauce for a little kick. Still very good. For dinner I ordered the French dip and my dining companion ordered the dings crispy chicken without Mayo. Unfortunately when his sandwich arrived it did have Mayo on it. Instead of making a big stink he just scraped the Mayo off the sandwich. He took one bite and it looked like his eyes rolled into the back of his head. He said this is the best chicken sandwich he's ever eaten. My French dip was very good as well. The meat was warm and with the horseradish and the au jus you had one hell of a sandwich. For dessert we ordered the Oreo ice cream sandwich. It was very good and glad we went with this option. The only negative thing I would say was I had 3 sodas while dining here. Unfortunately i assumed that they were refills, but then stupid me the waiter did say do I want another soda. Hillstone which is down the street from cherry creek grill brings out the soda in bottles, so I would know they weren't refills. Three sodas and $9.00 later was the only issue I had. An EXCEPTIONAL dining experience on NYE in Denver. Our party of 2 got fairly lucky--no reservations--but we were seated with choice of a booth in about 30 minutes. The incredibly personable and attentive service began as soon as I put my name down. I left the premises to do some *Mile High shopping* nearby, and returned before my name was called. When I re-entered, the host recognized me and seated me promptly. There were tons of other parties waiting--they just take care to remember you. The food is rave-worthy. Cherry Creek Grill is actually a member of the Hillstone restaurant group--if you've ever tried Houston's, you might recognize some cocktails (the Hillstone Negroni) and some flavor profiles. Cornbread bites: 5/5 Insanity. $4 for 6 fairly small cornbread pieces, but they're incredibly buttery. We ordered 2. Famous French dip au jus: 5/5 One of the best prime rib sandwiches I've had so far--definitely famous. The horseradish has a great kick and warmth, and the fries are served with a really tasty spicy mayo. Wood-Grilled Ribeye: 4.5/5 Very familiar to the Houston's steaks I've had in the past in their CA locations. Cooked to perfection @ med rare, but the sauce errs on the sweeter side. I'm not the biggest fan of sweet glazes, and the steak seasoning salt on the side doesn't do much for me either. Technically solid though, with very creamy mashed potatoes. Banana Cream Pie: 100/5 No words; just try. Hopefully it's not a seasonal/rotating dessert menu, because the dessert was verbally introduced to us and we didn't see a menu. Well we have moved from Denver but when we visit we love going here to order some of our favorites. This time I ordered the Macho Salad. The dressing is so light and tasty. My husband ordered the French Dip sandwich. Of course, I had to have a bite. Just like I remembered. Tender and delicious. We wanted the grilled artichoke but it is not available all the time. For being a chic classy place the wait staff are very delightful and everything falls into place efficiently. So now just waiting until we go to Denver and want to know ahead of time we will get a good meal. This spot was pretty good! I stopped here for lunch while visiting a friend in Colorado and it was recommended. So Covid was much less "cases" than now and less than in California so we ate inside but also had to practice social distancing plus wearing a mask when leaving the table we were at. The waitress was super helpful to us and they had tons of options to try. They have inside and outside seating but being how cold it was that day I saw their patio closed or it may have been because it was early. I hadn't been here in YEARS but it was really nice to be back. I met a friend here for lunch and I had the Kale and Chicken Salad. Delicious! At $18, it's a tad pricey for a salad, but it is large and I had no hunger pains throughout the afternoon and early evening. The peanut/sesame dressing is so tasty and the chicken (I believe it's rotisserie) is super tender. My friend had the Macho salad and she loved it. In fact, she says she orders it every time she visits CCG. Came here for lunch with friends and loved it! We started with the grilled artichoke and cornbread bites, both were amazing. The artichoke was cut in half and very easy to share with a group. Everyone should order their own cornbread because you won't want to share! A little jalapeño but not spicy, wonderfully sweet, salty, and moist. I ordered the chicken and it was also wonderful and a huge portion. It's pretty much half a chicken. It came with a chilled wild rice salad that had corn and red onion with a vinaigrette. The restaurant smelled amazing like a wood fired grill, the servers were very attentive, and the decor was cozy. If back in Denver I would definitely come back! read more

First off let me preface my review by saying I reside in Phoenix but travel the entire west for work. Hillstone restaurants are my favorite and I've been to the two locations in Arizona, three in California and two in Colorado. I usually get the French dip since they always make an amazing sandwich. Today I ate here for the first time and I was disappointed with my sandwich. The bread was over dry, not a lot of meat in the sandwich and I essentially got little pieces instead of full size fries. While the sandwich was disappointing the service and ambiance was top notch like every other Hillstone restaurant. I'm hoping to give this restaurant another try on my next visit to the area. read more

The veggie burger is so good and the roasted peppers with feta and olive oil is a must sub for the fries. The French dip and crispy chicken sandwich are also favorites. Have tried it three different times hoping that something might be different each time but then disappointed that they can't find a gluten-free hamburger bun -also asked about enchiladas and they are not gluten-free and no option for GF. Service here is always terrific. What took three stars off was the fleecing of the rib dinner. I suppose they should call it, "I'm gonna git you sucka" ribs as an homage to Chris Rock in his hilarious 1988 performance. Except in this case it wasn't 50 cents a rib, but $9.75 a rib! When we visited last time several months ago, we ordered the delicious Carolina style ribs and we were presented with a glorious, gleaming, tender rack of ribs. This time we were presented with four measly ribs for $39!! Talk about skimpflation. This was my first time at the Cherry Creek Grill and did not come in with any expectations. I just knew that it was more of an upscale restaurant, but just because it's upscale doesn't necessarily mean it's better, so I just came in with an open mind. The service first off was excellent. The host was attentive and noticed me as soon as I got in, we had reservations and the table was ready within minutes of stepping into the restaurant. The waitress came up immediately and introduced herself, told us the special which was the California artichoke, which by the way was pretty good. I really enjoyed that, and it was charred beautifully. I ordered their Ruby Red Trout and it was cooked well, the meat was flakey, not dry and seasoned well. The claw slaw that came with it was coated well and wasn't watery and wilted, the cabbage had a good crunch.
