WOW! We got a gift card from the manager due to our last experience and this time was amazing. Despite it looking super busy, we got sat right away and it was a weekend night, so we definitely got lucky. We told the waitress about our previous experience regarding my boyfriend's burger being super raw and she suggested that he get his burger cut in half, which worked! It was cooked well. I got the tuna melt and it was pretty standard, but delicious regardless. The star of the show, however, had to be the appetizers. We got the wings of two flavors that the waitress recommended. This was the first time I had been out since my hospital stay and the first to this establishment in about a decade my last time, there was hair in my girlfriend's burger. I was really craving a "patty" style burger instead of the oh so trendy (and delicious) smash burgers. The service was mediocre, waiter was solid. I was gravely disappointed by the food. I ask for my burger to be cooked medium, but it was not. Meat also lacked seasoning. I built my own burger, added cheddar cheese and green chile strips. The menu is simple though when you start to think about all the ways you can have a burger, it can get overwhelming. My husband and I make sure to stop by at least once whenever we visit Denver. Luckily the in-laws live here so it's a great excuse to visit. So, here is the deal. I am literally hitting EVERY single burger place on the Westword Best Burger list and this was next. I had been here before, several times, way back in my day, but not when I was doing reviews, and not when I cared about or ranked the quality of the burger. I do now. Both. I went specifically for the burger this time. I was not let down. As always, the service first. Kelsey was my bartender tonight, and gave me flawless service. Personable, efficient, and, after I explained my burger mission, she recommended the proper burgers. She truly elevated my visit. Here is the thing about this place. Instead of getting "just a burger," they are "too" creative. The toppings are the magic here, and they have such imaginative options. The burger itself is still awesome, but prepare to be a little overwhelmed by all of the options. They had a bunch of IPA's but they were out of one that I hadn't had, so I defaulted to one of my favorites, the Superpower. I was about to get Kelsey's recommendation on the burger, the Cricket Royale, with a pretzel bun, (you should), but I looked up "duxelles" and found out it was a mushroom. Aside from me always nixing pickles, I never want to nix the magic of the creation of the burger that has been invented. So, I passed. Being a mac and cheese person, one would expect that I would have gotten the Big Cheese (has it on it), but I felt like that was like crossing the streams in Ghostbusters in a bad way. I would like to keep those two loveable things separate in my life. You do you. I probably will start a best mac and cheese mission after this burger mission, and before my best pizza mission. I landed on the Cry Baby (the 2024 winner). All of their burgers have won something. Very French Onion taste, and even comes with a side of French Onion soup, although I just put it aside because I didn't know what to do with it. But, I didn't need it. I assume I was supposed to dip it in it, but it tasted good enough for me without it. The burger was awesome. Magical. Unless you are in eating contests, I liked my decision about not getting a side of fries. I wouldn't have touched more than one or two. Ok. The place itself. LOTS of rooms. I think this is the most amount of pics that I have taken at a place on review pages, but, aside from the pics of the burger, all the rest are different. Indoor rooms. Outdoor dining. Outdoor patio. Outdoor tent. Fun music in the background. Good mix of regulars and folks just stopping by. I talked to some of the other staff, plus the three managers on duty. You can tell the excellent service runs through all levels here. Good service is simply ingrained into the staff. They know they are already a staple and legendary place in this town and could get business forever, but want to prove it again every day again and again, to every new person who walks through the door, like me. I want to say this was the first location but I could be wrong but it is a lot better than their other locations and I can see why it's been around for so long. There's something about the burgers that taste better here. The space looks small but it actually expands into a large outdoor area and you can bring your dogs outside so I'll note that for next time. It's a large place with good music. The one thing that bugged me (pun intended) was all the gnats flying around our (inside) table. Swatting was needed to keep them off the food. The cherry bombs are yummy. The burgers good and the frings just ok. We had to wait a very long time for our check. We had to send for someone to get our waiter to bring it. I did not get service for about 10 minutes after being seated. We did however get service when my friend arrived. It was chaotic and not clear whose table we were. Went here for dinner after checking out the Christmas market and definitely left feeling full and satisfied. The speciality burgers they offer are a little too over the top for my taste. Don't give me wrong they sound delicious, but I don't think I'd want my entire meal to be one. I'd like to try a bite of each. I ended up making my own 1/4 lb burger with a crispy poblano, chipotle aïoli, and fresh jalapeños it was nice and spicy and delicious! They offer both 1/4 and 1/2 pound burgers. Came for a beer and the pork green chile, and let me just say, I was not disappointed! The original blue moon was crisp and fresh, and the chile was spicy and flavorful. I heard raving reviews of Cherry Cricket. So, of course I had to visit. Finally found parking, and a nice walk to location. Establishment is larger than expected with several separate dining areas. Wait staff were excellent, I think one for each dining area. He was pleasant and very attentive. I'm a Texas girl and used to extra napkins and straws normally being brought to table. Has to ask for them but no biggie. He was still great! Ordered the Cherry Cricket burger with Frings. I love homemade onion rings which he said they were but they didn't appear like it.
