Fence enclosure and gate from inside--concrete steppers and pea gravel.
    Tif W.

I feel so fortunate to have worked with Amy, Eric, Tony, and team on our front yard, if only all companies were like Cherrywood. The requirements for our yard project were specific and with the ongoing pandemic, it was hard to find landscape companies willing to work on a project that is not conventional. Our plan involved a drastically drought-resistant front yard with very little greenery, drip irrigation, basic hardscape with concrete steppers and gravel/rocks, horizontal fencing, and pads to be prepared for RockPave (There are no RockPave installers in the South Bay so the owner of RockPave will be installing it himself separately but needed the areas to be dug and edged beforehand). I had contacted a few companies to get quotes, I either never get call backs or they didn't want to deal with preparation for RockPave. Cherrywood was all in from the beginning. Eric returned my estimate request the same day I left a message. Eric and Amy came by the next day for a quote. Immediately, Eric expressed interest in RockPave and how it worked as a permeable surface. He also pointed a few things the garden designer didn't think of to easily improve aesthetics and water flow which we were impressed by. A few days later, Amy sent over a detailed quote for electronic approval, with clear descriptions and pricing. Eric and Amy proactively reached out to RockPave to learn more about the installation ahead of the quote so they could quote us fairly. Everything went as smoothly as possible from the very beginning. We lucked out because Cherrywood had a (rare) two week opening less than a month later. To me, Cherrywood really demonstrated how a good business should run. Amy kept great channel of communication throughout the process. She'd let me know every time there was an alternate decision to be made due to unanticipated change in material pricing/shipping delay. Everything was transparent and clear with documentation. I loved how a trailer was pulled to the site everyday so their workers could rest better during their breaks. Their guys showed up at 8:00 everyday and worked tirelessly in the summer heat taking very little breaks; when we offered refreshments they would only partake after their work day was over. Eric and Amy came by often to supervise or work, sometimes working well past normal work hours. The fence and gate took a little longer than the projected two weeks time because of material delivery delay/plan modification and their fence specialist Tony having to come later in the evening to work on it. See photos to see how great the fence turned out. I'll post more photos of the yard after RockPave is installed. I have to mention how much I appreciated the good quality materials used and the extra work Cherrywood did without prompting. For instance, they used high quality clear heart redwood for fencing when I expected something more like con heart for quotes. Our yard had rampant Bermuda grass (previous home owner intentionally grew the worst unkillable grass possible) and weed growth, not only did Cherrywood spray weed killer preventatively, they used really high quality weed barrier for the now lawn-free areas. None of this was emphasized or flaunted ahead of time, It was only conveyed when I noticed or asked. Overall, Cherrywood is the best experience I've had with a contractor/company. I am truly grateful for their efforts bringing my vision for the yard into reality, knowing it wasn't the most lucrative or easiest project they could have taken on. Amy and Eric, along with their team, are really good, honest, hardworking people. They are open to questions and happy to resolve any issues or concerns; even after the project was complete they came by to take a look at my concerns (none of their doing) and offered assistance anytime. I already miss them and look forward to working with them again on our backyard!

I spoke to 11 landscaping companies in the Bay Area all of which were highly rated on Yelp (I also have a spreadsheet of pros and cons of each), Cherrywood Landscaping stood out among them all. 1. First impressions Despite knowing that I was in talks with other landscapers, Eric spent over an hour during the first visit, identifying exactly what I was looking for and taking detailed notes and drawings. While other landscapers did take measurements, I didn't find the same level of involvement or attention to detail in any of them. 2. Management and organization Eric is the real deal; unlike many contractors that come by to land the job and then send a crew over while they are gaining business elsewhere, Eric does about 50% of the job himself and is on the site every single day working and overlooking tasks. The contract he wrote out was very clear and he was extremely accommodating of changes we made to the plan during the course of the project. 3. Quality of work The crew is extremely dedicated and take pride in their work - when the curve of the pavers was slightly less than what we had marked (almost unnoticeable), they removed it entirely and redid it to our satisfaction. They also used better quality products for the pergola than we had signed for in the contract. Eric made my Zen garden come to life and I can't thank him enough. 4. Pricing Among the 11 companies I spoke with, Cherrywood's pricing was mid range. But the lower quotes I received (which were not too much lower) were not as convincing in their work, and I would blindly choose Cherrywood again without blinking an eye. 5. Follow up After a month, we had a couple of minor issues - the slack on the cafe lights had increased and one of the sprinkler heads was behaving unexpectedly. We contacted Eric, and he was here within a week and fixed everything. So everything looks great once again! In conclusion, we made the best decision by choosing Cherrywood landscaping to do our backyard and we have already decided to go with them for our front yard next year!!

    Walkway

Our backyard looks nice, clean and modern. Drains were installed and a small walkway too. Although I initially had wanted another color for the pavers, I am very happy with the results. All workers were friendly and professional, arrived when they said they would and cleaned up everything nicely.

    before

I called up Eric from Cherrywood Landscaping late July, and he came by the next day before he heading over to another job site. He asked detailed questions as we walked through various plans I had for my backyard which hadn't been updated in 30+ years. He made me think through some details I hadn't thought of. Initially I was planning on getting various contractors to do different parts of the job, i.e. the demo of concrete, removal of a small tree, hardscape(pavers), putting up the gazebo, we also had other bids come in also, but ultimately we landed on Cherrywood's services. The pricing was in line with what other contractors were offering, and actually Eric was able to meet one of the other contractor's lower bids so we asked Cherrywood to do the entire project. The hardscaping project took about 8 days, starting August 3rd and finished August 11 to do the hardscape. And then 2 days more to finish up the gazebo. Eric and Jesus, were efficient, and made really good recommendations about plants, pathways, and other elements that we weren't even thinking about. I would recommend Cherrywood and will likely reach out to them when we do the front yard.

Great communication, fast response, effective project management, professional work, and creative problem solving are truly the strengths of Amy's company and crew. The Cherrywood Landscaping team constructed our backyard to the design done by YardZen. During the selection of pavers that had to match our existing ones, the team showed great patience with us, allowing us to choose, try and match. Changes in landscaping are most difficult to manage and somehow Amy was able to handle tough changes with ease. Please check out the photos we posted. If you want a fairly large project done right and on time, we highly recommend this great team at Cherrywood Landscaping.

I had Cherrywood Landscaping do my long overdue backyard renovation. Both Eric and Amy were super responsive, and they gave the best quote compared to other companies I reached out to. Very easy to work with, from designing in the beginning to the last minute change/additions to complete the project in the end. The only reason I gave a 4 star review is because the work went longer than promised. However, the end result is all worth it. Will definitely work with them again in the future - front yard renovation, anyone?

We hired Eric and his father Jesus to come help us with landscaping for our new manufactured home and are entirely pleased with the work they did and their ability to adjust things based on HOA rules I learned about after they started building. They were a good price, flexible, and accommodating.

Gorgeous paver walkway, patio, leveled yard, sod and sprinklers

We are so happy to have found Cherrywood Landscaping on Yelp! We needed to have our backyard leveled- ever since we bought our house the yard sloped toward the house, meaning every winter we had water seeping into our foundation. Eric and Jesus came over to do an estimate and suggested we level the yard and do pavers along the house and since we were planning to put an above ground pool up for the summer, we decided to do a full paver patio, walkway and grassy area with sprinklers. Eric and his team took care of everything- and in just 5 days! The work is top notch and they were super easy to work with, responsive and knowledgeable. I found out they also do fencing and we'll be calling them again when it's time to replace our aging fence. Thank you so much Eric and team for your incredible work!

Again, with much Prayers for God's Guidance, Directions we contacted for 3 Bids. One company with the initials of SL on Yelp great reviews was not a pleasant experience for us. They wanted Photos before they would even consider to bid. After much stress I did the photos, took the measurements as requested. I didn't expect them to come out to bid but they did and their bid was very high. I kept on praying and D&I Landscaping appeared and had great Yelp reviews. My initial reaction was Alyssa Torres was my first contact very personable and then we booked for Luis Blanco to come out to access our needs. No request for measurements or photos at all. Our job was easier only because my hubby knew what he wanted to have done and gave them his Vision and with their advice and help we tweaked a few things. Pavers is not an easy job especially when there's already Pavers installed, the guy I watched him and he was so methodical and kept placing Pavers down until he felt that he got the flow down and it was an amazing and challenging job but he did very well in my opinion. What we Love about D&I , is one of the owners Irving and their Designer Luis came over to meet with us. D&I doesn't charge for a Designer as some other companies do its part of their services. Irving, David, Luis and Alyssa and the entire Crew are so professional again this company was very Honest, Reputable, Hardworking and most of all they listen to our needs. One time our water spigot started leaking or spouting and we have this Project Group Text that they set up for us, all we do is text and within a few minutes David one of the owners showed up and turned it off while we were gone. They installed a water spigot that is easy for us to reach. They finished our Irrigation system along with installing a Rain Bird timer. It's hard to find a good honest company with Integrity but this company has it. Remember the company with the Initials SL think of S = a hard rock. Well... we had 3 bids which included backyard and front yard. When I called SL company and explained change of plans not doing the backyard she said oh, well that changes your front yard quote by 8 - 10% I was livid are you kidding me? No, it changes your price, the Lord quickly had me shut the door on this company bad feelings from the time I contacted them had to do measurements and photos. When the guy showed up,from SL, I told him you're young but you are passing on small jobs because you don't have time, let me tell you something passing on small job could lead you to something bigger, he was cordial and what was funny was after I went into the house he took measurements. When during our conversation I said how can you bid without taking measurements he replied because I've been doing this a long time really you're not even 40 Years old. D&I I contacted them to not include our backyard sent me a new quote penny for penny they just took off the back yard quote the front yard stayed the same. Honesty and Integrity goes a long way plus they don't charge us for a Porta Potty as SL did on our quote $250 for a Porta Potty folks she said unless you want the crew into your house to potty. I did let our Painters use our restroom which is fine they're in our house anyway and they were so professional and kind to us. To each its own. Looking for good Quality Work, a company with Honesty, Interity and a great ideas on your Landscaping this is the company and we had Carpenter Bees in one of our Post. David one of the owners worked really hard into the dark repairing it and he also placed the boulders back onto our neighbors lot for them. Irving drops by to check on the progress of our project. Who does all of these extras? D&I Landscaping give them a call for a quote no job too big or small for them. One of our neighbors hired them shortly after seeing them here at our house for over a week. Thank you Irving, David, Luis, Alyssa for completing Marvin's vision for him this is all done now for our Front. @d&I landscaping incorporated

Well, let me tell you, D&I came to the rescue (not all heroes wear capes!) Within 1 week D&I had dug everything up, removed these trees and unwanted bushes and covered the entire area with weed cloth and pea gravel. They planted some really gorgeous flowers and shrubs, and set up irrigation so it's super low maintenance. The neighbors have commented that they love how the front lawn looks now! D&I are very communicative, kind, and give a fresh perspective to things. For example, I was thinking about redoing my backyard which I thought was stamped concrete. D&I inspected it and told me they are real flagstone and it's expensive and not worth replacing. I really appreciated that they weren't trying to squeeze every last penny out of us. They're trustworthy and I can't recommend them enough!

He replied promptly. During our communication, Renzo's clarity, persistence, knowledge and patience impressed and persuaded me, not to mention his very reasonable quote. Instinctively I knew I could trust Renzo and he is the right guy for my project, even though I haven't met him.  So I waited a month and hired him. The wait was worth it. They built three walls and one patio, redesigned front left yard by grading and building a new pebble pathway with statue, installed lighting and irrigation system that had better dripping rings. They also revamped the driveway that made it look brand new and pebble-covered the right front yard.  It was truly a remarkable experience. Not only they did an excellent job with fine craftmanship, but their punctuality, hardwork, efficiency, know-how, discipline, organization, respect, kindness and neatness were a force to be reckoned with and an inspiration beyond a mere landscaping job. They take pride at what they do and the result is phenomenal! Before and during the three-week construction, Renzo was very respectful and made me feel my opinion matters. He was responsive, accommodating, flexible, easygoing and honest. He listened. He always showed how it would look. When something didn't work out, he was open to suggestions and assisted with solutions. I felt he had my best interest. The level of care to my plants led to high survival rate during transplant. I also noticed one of my trees was magically recovered from disease and the other was vigorously blossoming, which has never happened before. They brought life to my garden. Everything was done very nicely. They cleaned up the whole place and it was much better and cleaner than when they started. They also showed up for additional work as promised. Renzo and his crew transformed my old and messy space into the most beautiful and meaningful garden/haven that I could have only dreamed of. With the new lawn, now my garden has never looked better. I spend more time there and enjoy it more than ever. Renzo at Total Landscape is the best! I highly recommend them!

Another very happy customer of South Bay Design and Landscaping…read more We had South Bay out to do a full demolition of the existing "landscaping" from when we bought our house and the installation of an entirely new plan from our landscape designer (check out Dawn Engel- she's great!), which included a patio space, a pergola, driveway extensions, hogwire fence, raised planter beds, and a side gate added to our existing fence. These guys do not mess around. Demolition went insanely quickly, and our property was kept neat and tidy the entire time. We never once saw dirt tracked anywhere by the crew, which we can't say the same for any of the other contractors we've worked with (and we're actually quite happy with some of them!), and which becomes even more insane to think about when you consider the nature of landscaping work. Installation went as smoothly as South Bay possibly could have made it. Any time we ran into the occasional hiccup, as happens with all nontrivial projects, Matt, Danny, and Marcus offered thoughtful suggestions and made sure to confirm exactly what we wanted before proceeding. (We had either or both of Matt and Danny on-site most days of our project, and interacted with Marcus via email.) We were delayed a smidge by some heavy rain, but the crew worked through all but the worst of it (talking "if you step in that mud, you're going to lose a boot" type of rain). Partway through the install, we discovered that the previous landscapers had managed to make the L-shaped pathway leading from our driveway to our front door square with nothing- which wasn't easily noticed until we had the planter beds in and hogwire fence line chalked out. (South Bay had laid those out properly square to the driveway and house, as per our plan.) Matt, Danny, and crew were thankfully able to accommodate our request to fix our pathway up by picking up each segment and pushing the out-of-square part over by 4-6 inches; this added about a week of extra time to our project, mostly due to the fact that not all of the pavers could be reused, and that the pavers had actually been discontinued (!). The guys worked around this by sourcing very similar pavers in a different size, and basically cutting and grinding them to match our existing pavers. Post-install, the only way you'd know there are two different pavers in our pathway is if you'd seen it being taken apart and rebuilt. Plants, irrigation, and lighting all went in straightforwardly after the hardscaping work was finished, and Danny gave us a complete walkthrough of all our new outdoor systems. It's been about a week since our project was completed; the plants are all thriving, and we're still ecstatic about our new yards (and so are our neighbors!). In short: we had a fantastic experience working with South Bay Design and Landscaping for our landscaping project. They take pride in doing a quality job, and it shows in everything from demolition to day-to-day jobsite management to the finished project. If you're looking for landscapers, these are your guys. (Special thanks to Matt and Danny for graciously handling my incessant "are you sure you didn't forget about such-and-such little detail?" questions and never once forgetting about any of the details, and also to Sergio for spending basically an entire Saturday morning troubleshooting what ultimately turned out to be a manufacturing issue with our pergola.)
