The cookies are delicious and the staff are incredibly welcoming and kind. Just wish they were open later!

Ele has been my go-to cake place for about 8 years (since I first had their cake at a co-workers…read morebirthday). I don't really care for sweets (I even recycle Halloween candy from year to year!), but I dream of Ele's white cake with butter cream frosting. Last week I threw a party - I ordered the cake online on Wednesday for a Saturday pickup. The website is really easy to navigate and allows you to customize your cake. As this was a landmark birthday party, we wanted all black and gray frosting - weird, I know, but it came out perfectly (and was actually very pretty). I arrived on Saturday an hour before I had stated in my order, the cake was ready, and since you can pay online too, I was in and out in 90 seconds. Now, at the end of a grown-up birthday party, you're usually putting the extra cake back in the box and counting the days until the frosting is hard enough to throw the leftovers away and you don't have to feel like you're wasting food. Or is that just me? Regardless, at the end of this party, there wasn't a crumb left (anticipating this, I had already put a generous sized slice in tupperware during the Passing of the Cake Plates cake-cutting ritual - heheheh). I once drove through a massive snowstorm to get one of their cakes (for a party being thrown for me, in fact), because, although the roads were treacherous, they were open for business, my friends are apparently timid drivers, and the cake really is THAT good.

They had three small cakes vanilla, chocolate and marble. I was hoping for something more interesting but no other choices. I went with the marble. The woman put my husband's name on it with Happy Birthday. The cake also had flowers decorating it. I was disappointed that this cake did not taste any different than the ones in the grocery store but it cost a lot more. I won't be back. The bakery was clean and big and in fact seemed too big.

So when I found Purely Sweet Bakery on Instagram, I was super excited and wanted to try them the next time I was in the Dayton area. Since I don't live close by, I ended up buying everything that was GF/DF. I wasn't sure how long they had been sitting out, but I found majority of the items to be dry. Good flavor, but dry. I've had cookies and bars other places near me that are GF/DF and not dry...the only difference I can think of is that I was able to get those items fresh, whereas with these being on the shelf, maybe was the difference. Or maybe the cookies were meant to be a crunchy cookie. Chocolate Chip Cookies - good flavor, crumbly Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies - good flavor, crumbly Oatmeal Cream Pie - dry and too sweet for me Buckeye Donut - delightful flavor, very dense and a lot of icing, but I know that kept it on the moist side. Cinnamon Roll - great flavor, but still dry on the inside even after heating it up per instruction. Sticky Bun - great flavor, but dry on the inside as well after heating up. 6 Layer Bar - too too sweet for me Salted Carmel Cookie Bar - too sweet for me What I'll probably do next time is order some of the items ahead of time and pick them up day of. All in all, I'm always a huge fan of bakeries that have allergen friendly items and create baked goods for us allergen peeps to partake in. I give a shout out of appreciation to you. Thank you!

I only got the chance to eat a few of the goodies I had but what I did eat was pretty good . I received some sort of apple danish which was so soft and pretty good . Then there was this pastry called Kougin Amann, which kinda reminded me of baklava without the peanuts and the glaze. But it was soo good it was in the size of a Muffin. They gave us two. There were also other parties in there that I didn't get a chance to even get too but there was a cinnamon roll and some pastry with strawberries and crème in the middle. 10/10 will definitely have to come back and get some more pastries and goodies

After I chose a seat, they brought out my breakfast croissant on a paper plate. I wish the cheese was melted, but the sandwich was really good. The croissant was impressive-it tasted like I was back in Paris. It just felt like I was in my hotel lobby having breakfast with all the paper products. I opted for an assortment of to go pastries to try--almond croissant, lemon blueberry scone, and coffee cake. They were all pretty delicious, except the scone. The coffee cake was the best. I will be back!

All the cupcakes were really good. My favorite was the chocolate with caramel icing, but I also really liked the lemon with berry icing. The turtle cake slice I bought was fine, but it didn't wow me. Id definitely come back to try more cupcakes. They probably have the best ones I've ever had.

This was my first time ever ordering a custom cake, so I didn't know what to expect for time and pricing. I emailed The Cakery a week before my husband's birthday with some reference photos and told them they can take off some of the details shown in the pictures (because I thought surely this kind of cake would be like a hundred dollars and I don't have that budget). However, Ginger got back to me and described what they'll do and it was above and beyond what I expected! I went with the strawberry swirl 7" triple layer cake for $42.99. Both emailing and in person, the service was amazing. My husband absolutely loved the cake and we both loved the taste too. We would definitely recommend!
