DO NOT BUY FROM CHESACO RV IN FREDERICK!!! We put a deposit down on a camper site unseen with a promise from Jeff (salesman) and James (manager) that it would be delivered to Frederick so we could do a walkthrough before signing final documents. A couple days later Ty called us to schedule the walk through/signing. We asked if we could do 3pm or later during the week or anytime over the weekend. Ty said the latest he would agree to was 2:30pm and then said, "most people are so excited to make a big purchase like this that they just take off work. Why can't you take off work?" (Keep in mind this is last minute). We reluctantly agreed to come at 2:30. GUESS WHAT!? We show up to do our walk through at 2:30 and the camper was never sent to Frederick from Joppa. Funniest part is that James (manager) acted like he had no idea we hadn't seen the camper in person yet DESPITE being the one who told us we would be able to see it before signing final documents at our appointment. We still gave them the benefit of the doubt and agreed to buy the camper site unseen with the agreement that when the campers delivered to our campsite (2 hours away from us) we would be able to do a walk through and get the keys. While waiting on delivery, I get 4 calls from Jeff asking how we are liking the camper which we DON'T even have yet!!! You haven't delivered it! I get a call from James AFTER signing all the final documents saying the payments will actually be $50 more per month than they told us, never asked if it was okay, etc. We were also told the scheduling lady would call to confirm delivery which never happened, we had to reach out multiple times instead. Delivery finally happens and THEY DON'T HAVE KEYS TO THE CAMPER! We can't get it set up or do anything and have to drive 2 hours back home to fight with James and Ty for days on where our keys were. They kept saying they would call us back, never did. When we finally got a hold of James, he said the keys could be picked up from Frederick the following afternoon, they obviously didn't follow through on this either, didn't even call us to say they weren't there, then blamed it on Joppa per usual. Everything was Joppa's fault, not Frederick's if you ask James. Then they said the keys would be in Frederick the following morning. We kept calling to confirm the keys were in the office as promised since the first go around they weren't. They again kept saying they would call us back when they had a new time to pick them up but big surprise.. no one ever called us back. The kicker is that James had the nerve to ask me to give them a positive Google review..... so, here's your much deserved review, James! You've lost multiple customers over this! Ordered a new 3800rk last year. Multiple issues including high end parts. For instance, the forward AC unit never worked. I emailed the the company last spring and of course they said I had to bring it in ( even tho I own an RV repair business.) I get it. I could not get it there until the fall. Mean while, I went on the roof and the cowling/cover had beed smashed and was crudely plastic welded and bowed looked like crap, when we took the cover off, the unit looked like it had been dropped on its head. The compressor was listing 20 to 25 degrees and 2 or the 3 bolts holding it on to the frame were busted. The black wire to the compressor was sheered off as the cap covering the terminals was smashed the cover hit so hard against the wire it cut it clean in half. Videos were taken. After fixing the wire with a wire nut and not a shrink wrapped connector ( it was meant to be a temp thing to show the dealer) the unit replacement was denied because the wire nut was on it. It was a complete scheme to defraud us and now we have to litigate. You would think the dealer would be advocating as their reputation is at stake. Nope they have had the rig 3.5 months and won't respond to progress report requests. There are other big issues but the one I stated is criminal. Still waiting from answers, I am dealing with the Joppa store because low and behold the store near my house closed their repair shop this fall and we had to bring it 2 hours to the Joppa store. After 2 months of trying to talk to the store manager, he has yet to answer an email or the phone. THAT IS INSANE to do business like that. It seems their business model after taking your money for the new units is to delay, deflect and deny to save them money. Unfortunately I have to waste time and energy to litigate. Do not buy from this company. They are truly scammers who seem like they are not immune to defrauding customers. read more

Purchased a brand new 5th wheel on 4/21/25. Drove an hour to pick up the camp and made it 20ft before the fuse blew in my truck and I found I had no brake lights or turn signals. Upon checking it was found that both tail lights had water in them causing a short. I also found that both fender flares were cracked and also needed replaced. The camper was left there and was told parts were ordered. Went back an hour drive, after receiving an email that the camper was ready to be picked up. Upon arriving I checked these items and neither one had been replaced. I was then told the camper had to be taken to another location to be fixed because the service department no longer had any techs. Several calls were made to the GM and no return call was made. After the fourth call into the office I spoke to the manager who told me she needed to check on the parts and call me back. She also told me the camper was still on the lot in there service bay. We are now going on three days and have still not heard back from the manager. Multiple calls were made to the corporate office and no calls were return from them either. It is now beginning of July and multiple payments have been made on a bank loan for a camper I have yet to be able to pick up or use. 100% would not recommend purchasing a camper from them. read more

Just had more work done on my travel trailer at Chesaco RV in Frederick, MD. Once again I can't begin to say how pleased I am with the work and service I received! Oliver, the Service Manager and Samantha, the Parts Manager are absolutely the best team you can ask for to get things done. Samantha made sure I got the best parts for my money and Oliver made sure the work was done right! This time I had a Slide Topper put in for my Slide Out and a Solar Panel installed. The Slide Topper looks great and will come out with the Slide Out to keep debris and rain off the Slide Out. As for the Solar Panel, Oliver came out to show me how it worked and then set it up for auto-charge so I wouldn't have to worry about turning it on and off. I waited a little while to make this post to see how it worked, and I'm pleased to say it's working great and I haven't had to take the battery out to put it on a trickle charger at all while not in use or plugged in. During initial discussion with Missy (receptionist), who was very knowledgeable and friendly, I expressly ask for covers for the 5 slides on the RV we were looking at. My husband visited the next day, also mentioning slide covers. While the salesman Oliver did not offer us enough for our trade-in, we were very close to a deal negotiating a higher price for new purchase, then more for trade. Basically finagling numbers. When we finally sat down to do paperwork, the slides (originally requested) became an add on of $800 above the quoted price! Oliver explained that they were upside down on the unit. Not my problem! First time RV buyer ,1st I was able to shop through on their website and save multiple RV's I was interested in 2nd this place has an awesome selection .with lots of deals on 1 year old models as well as competitive pricing on new models. I ended up working with a guy named Oliver he first talked to me on the phone a couple times and when I finally made it onsite he walked me through all options and was very knowledgeable and honest on pros and cons of every make and model. I felt like he really honed in on what I was looking for and narrowed my search to an easier decision. I will let you know how the sale goes when finalized, but really wanted to add something positive after reading all the negative reviews. I rely heavily on reviews to decide if I'd like to conduct business with certain companies for important purchases. So when I found the right travel trailer at the price I was willing to negotiate at, I was torn. The reviews for this company aren't great, mostly based on service. I was forward about my concerns with the general manager Mark. While I was still apprehensive, I decided that this was the trailer I wanted. I moved forward. Ron in the service department was extremely helpful during the walk through. I had a few concerns and they addressed them immediately. When I had some trouble about 6weeks later, out of the 30 day warranty, Ron was once again very helpful and prompt. Although I'm new to the RVing community, I have learned through my experience and research that no trailer is the same, every service department I've talked to will take at least 2-3 weeks to get you into service and do your own through inspection before you buy. Almost every used trailer we looked at in our price range ($10,000 or less) had some moisture issue. We bought a great 2015 at a great price and perfect set up for our family with no issues. Coincidentally, we run into the previous owner on our first outing. They had only one problem with the trailer when it was brand new and had since had that fixed. They loved the trailer, but found it to be too small for their family. read more

The ad showed a 2004 camper for $800, we drive from Middle River (East of Baltimore) to see it; my husband inquires " what's wrong with it" The sales lady has to go to office to find out, comes back to say "that was an error on our internet ad". The service and parts department of this establishment appears to be run by individuals that do not want any contact with their customers. I purchased my new RV here a year ago and wanted several additional items to be included. I thought they would jump at the chance for some add-on revenue. After trying several times to receive an estimate on purchasing and installing a 5th wheel hitch on my truck, I gave up. The service manager was uncommunicative and clearly wanted her minions to screen phone calls and avoided contact with customers. The shop foreman was a ghost. They did not seem to have any system for recording the actual labor that they performed. For example, I was charged $90 for 1 hour to install a 5th wheel adapter "plate" which I later learned to do myself. It takes less than 10 minutes to install this simple item. Based on the cavalier attitude of the individual who reviewed the delivery checklist and the lack of comprehensiveness I later discovered, I am skeptical that they performed any of the delivery preparation items on the checklist prior to turning the unit over to me. For example the 5th wheel pin box was adjusted in the "all up" position which led to it rubbing on the front cap and cracking it. I had to have it repaired under warrantee. When I drove my brand new unit away and discovered some problems, I was informed that there was a 2 week wait for any repairs. After complaining up the chain, I was given a more timely appointment. The parts department and service department appear to have little concept of customer service or customer satisfaction. Additionally, the technicians I spoke with appear to have very little training or experience working on RVs. I would not purchase another RV from this location based solely on the poor performance of the parts and service departments. read more

First and LAST time dealing with them. I bought my first camper at Chesaco Frederick. Winterized and everything. Went to use it on my first camping trip and there was a pin sized hole in the hot water tank that leaked everywhere. I called them about the warranty to fix it and they started off making me feel like it was my fault. LISTEN CLOSELY. What you don't know is they do not have any mechanics to fix problems with your camper at the Frederick location so you have to make an appointment at the Joppa location and because this is the only one around that has mechanics, there is a months long back log. I called Jayco and they called Chesaco and there was still nothing they could do so the warranty doesn't really mean much. I am beyond disappointed with their customer service and lack of communication. I have many experienced friends that are campers and we all agree to tell people to go somewhere else. read more

If you need to get your RV fixed, forget about it at his location. They take several weeks to complete simple tasks and they never follow up with you. If I was paying discount prices I could accept that but they are very expensive and the service is not on par with what they charge.Do yourself a favor and go to Beckley's RV. They are expensive also but the service is on par with price paid. My observations are based off of several dealings with this folks unfortunately because they are close to my house but now I rather drive our further as I am over the horrible service time and time again. So thankful for the exceptional service and kindness from Chesaco. Our family of 6 was traveling through Maryland on our way toward home in Texas. Our travel trailer (under warranty) had a major mechanical breakdown in Frederick. We were told by a local that Chesaco was the place for us to get help. We were facing a 2-4 week delay in the middle of our vacation while waiting for a replacement part from the manufacturer. This was very stressful. Thankfully, the good folks at Chesaco went above and beyond and found a solution when we were sure that we were stranded. They got us back on the road in no time, keeping us from being stranded as well as saving us huge hotel costs. We were speechless. If you are reading this review and trying to decide if Chesaco is the right organization for you, we can fully attest that they are. Now we are making double payments on two campers, and I've still not gotten a call back from Chesaco after repeated attempts to discuss this. In addition, when we drove off the lot there were items that we needed from parts that were missing on our camper. Called the Joppa office to let them know whats going on, they told me Frederick really doesn't have a service department, imagine that, I was told before we purchased the travel trailer ( all yeah we can do all the service right here), what a lie!! So now I'm stuck either driving clear down to Joppa or finding another Jayco dealer. Seriously thinking about talking to my lawyer about a lawsuit, this is really how bad this dealer is seriously. Once you purchase your RV your on your own. I know 1 thing the warranty I purchased better be available to use at another Jayco dealer like I was told and I better get a copy in the mail or I will pursue a lawsuit immediately. Is there a star for being the ultimate worst RV center? Chesaco deserves it. So we purchased a 2020 voltage 3615 toy hauler on January 27, 2020, With the intention of parking it on our 10 acres, livIng in it full time while building a home. The overall walk thru was non-existent from an employee that had no idea what she was talking about! The first night: the Onan 5500 generator had a "blip". Restarted it and realized we had no heat. The batteries would not hold a charge. Called Chesaco. " oh sorry that's warranty work, you'll have to take it to Baltimore for them to work on the generator...sorry" Customer: um no we are basically boondocking, packed to the gills.. this RV isn't going anywhere, send someone out to us we just bought this rv! Chesaco" nope sorry we don't do that... Customer: have GM call us please. Chesaco: I'll leave him a message.. Customer : called Dutchmen to complain Dutchmen: sorry we don't handle warranty work call your dealer... Customer: we did. Dutchmen. Sorry, after many discussions they relunctly agreed to pay the 150. Fee Next day: Had to call mobile rv repair. Wagners Outdoor express(kudos 5 stars) heard our complaints . Relayed that it would be a 150.00 fee PLUS A $250. Admin fee up front. So I'm already out 400plus... very nice repairman came out... Here's the list: generator needs service ...no kidding Battery breaker is broken! Needs replaced Furnace circuit board is fried need new circuit board And here's the real kicker: the GREY AND BLACK WATER TANKS WERE SWITCHED! (Guess how we found that out!!!) I purchased brand new rv from them , and they just turn their back on me. At first , the tv remotes were missing , then manual wasn't in rv , the best part is that I can't use the bunker because of missing key that they lost, also no customer seevice not caring for customers that just spent 80000$ on rv. Once you sign the deal with them , you are on your own , when I called about small stuff on rv or already existed problems , the only answer you get is e will schedule you next month. Even simple thing like fuse replacement. Now I have been waiting for the bunker key about 1 month and half , and still no explaination about issue. Now I can't use bunker and I can't order the key cause Jayco only deals with dealers , and refused to send me key that I paid for . Well to start we've had the absolute worst customer service since the day we pulled off the lot with our new camper. Over the course of a year we made multiple (4) trips to have a water leak fixed in the shower plus countless other problems along the way. I've spend close to $600 in fuel just taking the camper back and forth for repairs that ultimately weren't fixed correct the first time. The customer service is about as awful as it could be. Phone calls from management were promised and never returned. Just all around horrible experience. The latest problem was laminate delaminating around some of the cabinets in the camper. These cabinets happen to be directly behind the shower that had leaked since the day we bought the camper and there was obvious water damage because of the leaks. Now we were a month out of warranty in August 2016 when we found the delamination. The manufacturer agreed to warranty the parts but not the labor for the fix. Understandable because they didn't know the number of times we had the camper in to be fixed for a water leak. A normal person would assume the dealer would warranty the labor since this issue was a direct result of their service departments inability to fix the problem right the first time. Nope. Couldn't get them to stand by their work or products. Asked for the GM Bert to call me multiple times with no returned phone calls. Now here it is December 2016 and they just ordered the part two weeks ago. 4 months later before they even ordered the part and then the parts lady wanted to be smart on the phone with me when I was obviously pissed my part hadn't even been ordered back in August. If your even considering buying a new or used camper from these crooked people run away now. Save yourself the aggravation of owning anything they sell or anything their service department may have put their hands on. I wouldn't recommend them to an enemy based on the experience I've had And from reading other reviews now others have had the same. read more

Almost every encounter they had with my new travel trailer was completed incorrectly, sloppy, or not at all. In fact they caused additional damages. They make no attempt at customer service or apologies and seem pretty incompetent overall. I found out they have massive turnover and serious management issues. I highly recommend going somewhere else to buy your rv unless you are getting a good deal and will be getting service elsewhere. I was able to get approval to have service under warranty completed at Beckley's down the road. I really wanted to like this place since it is the closest to my house but it was a truly horrible experience. I could name at least 15 major issues. You have been warned none-the-less. read more

STAY AWAY! If I could give zero stars I would. When you pull up to the lot the first thing you will notice is the Finance Manager chain smoking on the front porch and playing on her phone... classy. Do yourself a favor, if you are looking to purchase an RV do it somewhere else. First of all the biggest thing any customer needs to know is how the pricing works. There is an MSRP price and a "Sale Price". The sale price still has a 30% mark up! If you are looking at a unit with a 50K sales price they have about 20k in cushion included already. Most clients think when they can talk them down just a few grand they are getting a great deal... NOT THE CASE, you are still paying 15k more than you should. They try to get you off this by "giving" you more for your trade in. All they do is take a few grand off the sale price and say they are giving it to you in your trade in... its a total SCAM. Not only that, if you don't ask about any add ons that you will need like a hitch... they wait till papers are signed to let you know the several thousand dollars extra that you will have to spend on that... also highly marked up. Secondly the customer service is a JOKE. If you have an issue, expect to be bounced around and sent to voice mails for days on end before you are even able to talk about the issue you that you are having. Once you are able to get that far, they will find ways to make sure the warranty will not cover it and it is coming out of your pocket... HORRIBLE SERVICE. Now if you are thinking about working at this dealership... Save yourself the trouble and keep looking, you will be better off unemployed than working here. Because they are so awful you end up sitting at your desk twitteling your thumbs for hours on end because no one wants to shop there. Once you do get a customer half the units have someone wrong with them, either not clean, something is broken, or there is trash left in it, from where the sales reps go and sleep inside them and watch TV when they are bored. Management is terrible and never there and there is absolutely no training, its sad. Then once you decide that its not for you... and you decide to move on... GOOD LUCK collecting any commissions that you earned and havent been paid on yet. All you have to do to prove this is simply ask how long the current sales reps have been SALES REPS for Chesaco. When employees find out how horrible this place is they leave quickly and they end up having to pull people from their service department or an admin... So if you are thinking about working for this company dodge the bullet and keep looking. Bottom line stay away, as a customer or a future employee. You have been warned. read more

Had to wait 2+ days for work to be done, BUT...all items completed well! John, service coordinator, is probably over worked, but remained professional at all times. Probably needs to relay a bit more accurately time expectations for work to be completed. Ancillary staff very cordial, expressed interest to assist as possible. Definitely make an appointment, expect to wait 3-4 weeks, and remain proactive in communications. All in all, a reasonably pleasant service experience. Hopefully, the principals of Chesaco will facilitate an upgrade in the facilities. Apparently, currently limited by Fred. Co Historical constraints. read more

Avoid this place at all cost. The service department (Ron) will lie to your face. So will the general manager. I called Jayco and caught them in their lies. Bought a new Jayco travel trailer from Chesaco in Frederick and had problems from day one. I waited three weeks before they could look at the problems. Then they lied to me for another three weeks saying they were waiting for Jayco to approve the repair. When I called Jayco they said Chesaco hadn't submitted anything. They had my brand new camper for two months. Now the hot water heater is not working. Chesaco said they can't look at it for six weeks even though I told them what part is bad. I ordered the part and fixed it myself. Two days to receive part and five minutes of my time. I wont buy anything from Chesaco again. Also there is no way to contact the owner of this company. You only get to talk to the paid liars. Do your homework before buying from this dealer. Ask to speak to the owner. read more

I bought a use camper from them worst mistake I every did. if you buy from them I wish you the best of luck. They sold me a use camper that was gone over by there tecks that they new was crap and laughed at me behind my back all the way to the bank. Its been two years now I try to trade it in and found out I was 5000$ upside down. So I will have to eat 2000$ over the next year or so to fix it. I have already put 2000$ in to fix the first problem in the first year. Service Department can not give an estimate of time for work to be performed. I was told 2 weeks, 1 month or 2 months by 3 people in the service department. This was after I had made an appointment a month in advance. The work requested was a axle lube, brake pad replacement on single axle trailer. The previous fall I had called about replacing broken cord in window awning. Upon being told it would take two months I went online ordered the cord myself googled how to do it and performed the repair in 30 minutes. I would suggest looking elsewhere for service performed in a timely manner. read more

My husband and I purchased a brand new RV from the Frederick dealership back in Sept 2018 and we have had nothing but problems since. Since our first camping trip we have been dealing with issues happening to our camper and can't seem to get them resolved. Our first trip and the first night the kitchen floor area started creaking and also you could see it beveling, called the dealer ( chesaco ) and took it in to show and also the video from that morning and the service department said it wasn't significant enough even though it was brand new and we have a 3 year structural warranty. A year later still hasn't been taken care of. Since then we have had our outside kitchen ceiling fall , the door replaced and repaired twice since the replacement and still isn't right , electrical issues , flush system now flooded our bathroom caused water damage and now we will have mold and plenty of other things wrong. Each trip this year something was wrong and we can't seem to get a response and it taken care of. We were told to not purchase from them but the price was right and now we regret purchasing it from them. We don't not recommend purchasing from there at all. I was highly disappointed in this store. If you can call it that. Bought new RV at rv show and when we went to pick up it of course took a long time. It's an old house and just sit you in room in front while waiting. They have no coffee or water or anything while waiting. Room is a mess, I have never seen so many cable wires just hanging out in a waiting room. Im sorry if I'm buying an rv or any big purchase to be treated better. Most people walk by and no one says hello. Would of been nice to have tv to watch while waiting. Instead we sat around and watched how most people in there don't do anything. Customers do not come 1st. I've dealt with joppa and had a much better expierence there. Have been calling for days about something and they tell me different things on phone dependant on who you talk too. Been waiting for a call back for days. I bought a brand new motor home from them , the service tech was so incompetent it was so scary, stay away from Fredrick Chesaco, they do have a very bad rap. I am surprised that they are still in business so to say. Even the manager claims he is there to clean up the crew some, but i think he is part of the reason for poor workmanship there. Do yourself a favor go to the one in Joppa Md or Gambrills Md at least you will know who you are dealing with. Now since i bought my motor home it is now in the shop for repair and i only had it not even a week, i think they sell rent a wreak from that dealership, i just found out my engine has some kind of internal damage and it only has 1000 miles considered they put on for transport 937 miles when they sold it to me. Not only that but the service Tech claimed everything was working correctly and i found 12 things that were not working including lights !! go figure. read more
