This is a long one... but I have to give credit where credit is due. I contacted Kensington Framing…read moreabout 30 minutes prior to closing one day last week on a long shot with a question about a piece the shop had framed over a decade ago when the business was still under the Millers name. Jason promptly and politely answered the phone and I explained my situation: the piece at hand was a ca. 1910 panoramic photo print from a sports estate collection I was handling at work that was to be put up for auction and expected to fetch a very high sum. There were many enthusiastic potential buyers. However, it had never been inspected outside of the frame. A third party authentication service had unofficially vetted it, but only through photos. This made me nervous, since the print looked far too "clean" for its vintage. I did not want to risk the integrity of the company I work for by selling a reproduction, but didn't want to take it apart as it was advertised and photographed as framed. I saw a "Miller's Framing" sticker on the back of the piece and tried my luck, as the address was right down the street and there was not much time before the item went on sale. I'm not sure what I was expecting-- even if there was a record of the work done (and that would be unlikely), it wouldn't have any details that would be relevant in this case. But, I thought maybe their expertise and knowledge of their materials and methods could get me a little closer to the truth. Jason admitted that the Millers name hadn't been used since well before his time, but asked pertinent questions and was very professional when I laid out my issues regarding the piece. He said I could drop it off and he'd take apart and re-back it, probably over the weekend. However, I was very much in a bind, and even a turn around that quick (I think it was Thursday) would be too late. I knew it was unreasonable for me, but I asked, and Jason agreed to take a glance over the piece that day if I brought it by before he closed up (which was in about 30 minutes). I write so much to emphasize not only the excellent customer service Jason provided both on the phone and in person, but the far-reaching implications of that service: he took one look at the print in the frame/glass and was immediately able to ascertain with high likelihood that it had been dry-mounted, which would right then drastically lower its value. He cut open the back and confirmed that it was indeed a reproduction, likely 1980s. Jason saved me and my company a HUGE hit financially and perhaps a bigger hit to our reputation. Now that is service at its highest form. Jason has completely, 100% totally won my respect and future business for my own framing needs. Thank you Jason!

Metered parking in front - his spot is on the first floor of a townhouse complex and he seems to open and close depending on traffic so call ahead to make sure he's available.

UR Fabrics quoted us a reasonable price and pickup and delivery fee so we went with them. We now have our sofa back and the repair came out much better than we hoped! They also were able to do a decent cleaning job, which was not really the reason it was sent in. We now expect to get many more years of service out of this sofa. UR Fabrics was very easy to work with, provided very prompt communications throughout the entire process and delivered more than they promised! I highly recommend them and will use them again should I need furniture repair in the future.

I wanted to salvage the chair using existing fabric but didn't believe that to be possible especially since the chair is 5 years old and the fabric was nowhere to be found. After months of looking at other swatch samples that weren't measuring up, I found the same fabric for sale on eBay. I had planned to work with a reupholstery shop closer to where I live but that shop indicated they had to do a full reupholstery and couldn't repair just the damaged section. Dave confirmed they could fix the damaged area at what I thought was a reasonable price. They managed to restore the chair to its original state. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again should the need arise!

Last night at 7:45 pm I called Brian F. for help moving some items out of a storage unit…read more I had previously arranged this with ReSupply -Habitat for Humanity's service for items they cannot use in their ReStores. They confirmed the night before, that morning, at 2 pm, at 3 pm, at 3:30 pm and at 3:48 pm they said they weren't coming. This was already after canceling the first day and moving the pick-up out 3 days. Needless to say I was in a sweat. The unit had to be empty the day ReSupply bagged on me. I got a 1 day extension from the storage facility to avoid paying for another full month. So - back to Brian at Suburban Solutions. He answered his personal phone at 7:45pm and was personable and promised they would help. Today (31 Aug 2023) at 1:30 pm, he and 3 fellows showed up as promised at the storage facility and took away some heavy furniture and drove it off to be donated. Above and beyond what I wished for... I am very happy. A+ Brian!

AVOID! DRIVER FELL ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL, $48K OF PROPERTY DAMAGED, REPEATEDLY LIED TO BY OWNER…read more This was our 3rd move with Suburban Solutions. I now wish that number was 0. Here's why: - They got into a major accident destroying much of our stuff - They lied about it straight to our faces in an attempt to cover it up - They told us they would cover the repair costs but then backed out for most costs Suburban Solutions is the worst and most dishonest company I've ever done business with. See excruciating details and cringe-worthy photos below, then decide whether this is the company you want to entrust with the contents of your home. First, the Suburban Solutions driver got into a major accident causing major damage. Brian, the OWNER of Suburban Solutions, called to say the damage was limited to front corner of the truck, and that he would take care of repairing the broken furniture. He said the driver was run off the road by another vehicle. Then he provided misinformation about the date and location making it harder to track down the police report (which told the truth of what actually happened - yeah, keep reading!). When our property arrived, the damage was much more severe. Several furniture pieces were broken beyond repair and almost all were battered. Most of our smaller items had been repacked into new boxes - along with dirt and weeds from the side of the road. Once he realized the extent of the damage, Brian reneged, saying he would only cover repairs for some (cheaper) items. He found vendors he said were rated 4.9, but they were 4.1. One vendor we called said they FIRED HIM as a client because they refused to do business the way he was trying to get them to. He told us the items would be fully repaired, but behind our back he told those vendors to only fix things minimally and ignore any dents, scratches, etc. We were without a sofa for weeks while he said repairs were in progress. We later learned he had refused to authorize the repairs so instead the sofa just sat there untouched. Our items were in pristine condition at the time of the move and Brian personally commented on how beautifully maintained everything was during the walkthrough. Thankfully, our renter's insurance applied, but when our claims adjustor spoke to him, he lied yet again, telling them that the pieces were in bad shape initially, hoping to deflect responsibility. Hold on, it gets better! A week after the move, the driver texted us to inform us that Brian had actually been LYING the whole time and had required him to play along! The driver had fallen asleep at the wheel while going 70mph. The truck overturned and the top of the truck broke off completely. Our stuff was smashed and dumped all over the side of the road. We were finally able to obtain the police report which confirmed the driver's version of the facts. This happened in the middle of the afternoon on day 2 of the journey after the driver picked up his cousin using the moving truck on day 1. Why was his cousin with him at all? And what were they doing the night before that caused him to doze off at 4pm? Regardless, according to the driver, he had called Brian an hour before the accident to tell him he was falling asleep, but Brian told him to keep going anyway. Brian has since fired the driver and reported to FMCSA that the driver has a "medical condition" that should prohibit him driving in the future. This was never disclosed to us, and if Brian knew about it, then why was he on the road in the first place? Or was this just another tactic for him to deflect blame away from himself? Look, accidents happen 1 in 10,000 times and we drew the short straw. It sucks. It's a low risk for you. But the outrageous lies that followed (and perhaps even led to the accident) were intentional, unprofessional, and fraudulent. Suburban Solutions lied then doubled down to save face after throwing our stuff - and our lives - into complete chaos for the next 6 weeks. They treated their previously loyal customers like total chumps. Hopefully this review and our formal complaint to BBB proves how badly their attempted cover-up backfired. In case Brian tries to reply to this and explain things off with more lies or sugarcoating, I've included photos of the state of our items, written exchanges with him (contact info redacted, of course), text exchanges with the driver (same), and the police report itself. Take a look for yourself. Then ask yourself: Are you willing to risk that this same thing happens to you? Are you willing to do business with a company whose owner will lie directly to your face after wrecking your life? You and your belongings deserve better. And Suburban Solutions deserves to be out of business.

The Gerber Mark 2 was a thing of beauty when I first acquired it years ago. But my sons had ruined the blade doing what teenagers do when they get into things that don't belong to them. I thought the blade was a goner, but held out hope that someone might be able to restore it. The other one was a cleaver I had purchased thinking it would have the same functionality as a chef's knife only to find out that the edge profile was more suited to chopping firewood. Matt worked some magic. I wish I had taken a "before" picture of the dagger so you could appreciate the extent of the damage he had to address. The "after" picture (see below) was truly remarkable. It was literally like nothing had ever happened to the blade. As for the Wüsthof cleaver, Matt reshaped the edge profile so that it more nearly resembled a wicked sharp Asian cleaver. Just what I was after. Fabulous work. Matt didn't just sharpen my knives. He completely reshaped their blades AND sharpened them. Highly recommended.

Within 1 week of contact I was able to discuss my concerns, the engineer completed a thorough walk through of my home & gave me ample amount of time view discuss my concerns. More importantly they didn't drag out the walkthrough for hours!! I appreciate the honest responses to help distinguish between normal settlement & items that are concerning. I'm waiting on the written report (inspection was completed one business day before writing this review) to proceed with the fixes. I strongly urge spending time & money on an inspection from a structural engineer before spending $$$$ for repairs that aren't needed. I frame original embroidery work and need museum-quality treatment. I wish I had discovered Chesapeake Framing Company sooner! They handled the cloth expertly, pinning it smoothly under the glass without adhesives and with the best archival materials. Mary Jo has an extraordinary eye for what works in the framing, pulling out numerous options for me to consider. There was nothing mysterious about the pricing -- we looked at different combinations of frames and mats, Mary Jo put the codes into her software, and she told me right away what each option would cost. They also framed a second piece, some lacework, in a shadowbox. People visiting our house have actually commented on the frame "oh, that frame is perfect for that" and remarks like that. read more

I'm a novice when it comes to framing and am someone who finds the process somewhat intimidating. I bought a piece of original art online and needed to stretch the canvas onto a wooden frame and then also make a decision about whether to add a decorative frame or not. However, after speaking with the gentleman who helped me, he recommended a white frame to highlight the painting's bright spots. I'm so glad that he did. In the end, Framer McGees set the painting in a white floating frame. It's beautiful!
