First off, bring cash haha. They do not accept credit/debit cards or checks, however they do have an ATM and waive the $1 fee. I ordered a medium pepperoni and I fairly enjoyed every bite. The pizza wasn't too greasy considering there was meat toppings, and the crust stood out from other pies I've had. I find the crust just as important as any other part of the pizza ;) . The staff/manager are really nice and I say that because my order ended up going out to someone else. The manager apologized and adjusted the situation accordingly and their efforts were appreciated. I can see myself coming here whenever I'm craving a slice outside of the chain pizzas and I think you should too. read more

We have been in Chesapeake for 35 years, drove past Chesapeake Pizza many times but never dropped in. We finally went and it's our go to place for pizza now. The staff is always friendly and the pizza is hot and perfectly made. Wish we never let all those years go by without going in. read more

My friends have been telling me about this place for a long time so finally I got over here with a friend of mine tonight. We ordered a medium pizza with pepperoni, sausage and feta. The pizza came out in record time and I have one word to describe it....Delicious! This was one of the best pizzas I have enjoyed in Virginia in the last 5 years I have lived here. Not a great evening at Chesapeake Pizza, unfortunately. We met some good friends after a matinee show. We arrived around 6:30 and had a cozy booth in the back by the kitchen. They have 2 beers on draft, so certainly don't choose CP for the extensive beverage list! Our server promptly greeted us and returned with drinks. We ordered right away - 3 pizzas for the table. About 20 minutes later, 2 of our small pizzas arrived. After about 5 minutes of waiting for the 3rd, our server returned and said it should be right out. 10 minutes later, after she finished having a lengthy chat with a neighboring table, she finally realized we were still waiting and went back to check in. She claimed a screw up in the kitchen, promised to comp the 3rd pizza and said they had just started it. Another 15 minutes, still waiting... At least we had 2/3 of our order so we could share. 3rd pizza arrived another 10 minutes later. We had the Chesapeake special, veggie and a ground beef pizza. They were pretty good and the only thing that redeemed our experience. We finally finished eating at closing time - 8 pm. They were clearly in a rush to get us out, because one of the young ladies working there put hands on my husband's jacket and laid it on the floor so she could put our high chair away. Then she stood literally breathing down our neck, waiting for us to exit so she could clean our table. I mentioned this to a manager - an Asian woman at the cash register - and her response was that she was a young kid who didn't know any better. It certainly offers an opportunity to TEACH the young staff proper customer service. To top of our night, the convenient ATM in the front (because they don't take credit cards) wasn't working, so we had to go fishing for cash. The hubs and I went here on a recommendation. After our experience, I know not to trust that source again. Talk about disappointed. We tried the cheese bread. How lazy can a restaurant be to melt a slice of mozzarella on Texas Toast? It was very bland and a total waste of $2.99 to order. The pizza was only slightly better than the cheese bread, but no better than something I could've picked up in the frozen section of the Harris Teeter down the street - and for less than half the cost. Living in Chesapeake means at some point you have to try Chesapeake pizza. I've been going here off and on for about 20 years. However now that I live out this way I have the option of doing carry out, which I've tried, and I hate to say it, but I found the pizza doesn't keep to well. On the flip side, dining in is excellent and the pie is wonderful when the bring it from the oven straight to the table. you can wash your slices down with any number of beers they have on tap and the location is also very family friendly. Just a note, it can get very crowded here, so come early. read more

I went back a few days later. I got the Chesapeake special. It was good, but the service was unbelievably slow AND there were hardly any other people there. We need refills but our server never came back. Finally, we got the attention of one of the kitchen staff and was able to get our drinks refilled. From the dough to the sauce to the fresh toppings of pepperoni, sliced sausage, ground beef, ham, mushrooms and green peppers this pizza pie rocks. Whatever the blend of herbs and spices and fresh ingredients they use, Chesapeake Pizza creates pizza with a unique and distinctive flavor profile. Their pies have a taste all their own and it's just amazing. My wife isn't much of a pizza eater. When I bring pizza home she generally will eat one slice and often won't even finish it. That's not the case with a large pie from Chesapeake Pizza, we'll polish that baby off in the course of a few hours. Chesapeake Pizza is a free-standing full-service restaurant located on Battlefield Boulevard in the Great Bridge section of Chesapeake. Parking is never an issue as they have their own amply sized private parking lot. It's family owned and operated with everything on the menu made fresh daily. They've been around since 1973 so they are obviously doing things right. The building is old and the decor is decidedly dated but it appears well kept and exudes a pleasant aura of comfort. It feels good. I have tried a lot of the menu items over many years and have dined in from time to time but usually it's takeout pizza for me, it's just the best. I'm sure you've seen other reviews mention that Chesapeake Pizza is a cash only business but they are making some advances in this area. Dining in requires cash (there's an ATM in the lobby if you need it) but for takeout you can order through Yelp Eat24 on your computer or through the app on your phone or tablet and pay with a credit or debit card, they even take PayPal too so that's really convenient. I recently used it for the first time and it worked flawlessly. At the end of my work day I brought up Chesapeake Pizza's website and clicked on "view menu and order." This brought up the Yelp Eat24 ordering menu for Chesapeake Pizza. I placed my order and went and picked it up, it was just that easy. The staff here is friendly and helpful, I always feel like a valued customer. I just don't get here often enough. read more

The Soap at this this establishment was liquid. It had a very smooth to the touch and has no smell. It may take a few pumps of soap to thoroughly wash your hands of they are particularly dirty, but I was fine using just 1 pump. Overall, I enjoyed the soap, it wasn't foam soap, but it was still very good nonetheless. read more

Went to Chesapeake Pisa's for the first time. Before I went I looked up their website and saw what appeared to be a delicious Italian margarita pizza, however when I went to order it the waitress said they don't carry it. So I asked for a pizza with tomato's and basil she said "that would be a Margarita pizza and we don't make those and we don't have basil". She was rude and dismissive the whole time we were there. My next question would have been "how is the sauce or any Italian food for that matter "home made" if y'all don't carry basil? It's one of the fundamental seasonings in Italian foods, I didn't ask her due to her passive aggressive attitude so I just ordered a pizza with tomatoes. Once it got there she asked us if we needed anything so I politely asked for red pepper flakes and her reply was "i was getting to that I meant anything else", I said no and she left and came back with them. The pizza was good, nothing memorable but the crust was fantastic. If I ever go back there it would be because of how great their pizza crust is and their prices. Their prices were some of the best most reasonable prices around here that I've seen since inflation. Good prices, decent food, fast paced, but poor attitude from our server. Do yourself a favor and visit this place. This is top-notch pizza. I've been here with my husband on several occasions and the quality is always the same--flawless. The crust is light and almost biscuity? and somehow stays so crispy even in the center of the pizza where you'd expect it to be kinda soggy or floppy from the weight of all the sauce, cheese, and toppings. I can't speak for all of their toppings, but I'd say it bodes well for the others that their hamburger topping is savory and well-seasoned. The cheese to pizza sauce ratio is impeccable. And oh my God the sauce! Listen, I'm real particular about pizza sauce; this stuff is great. It's not too thick and certainly not too thin. It's also not overwhelmingly herby, which is something I abhor in a pizza sauce. Anyway, great great great all around. I'm sure this is heresy in some circles, but I must be true to myself and to Chesapeake Pizza: they make their own house blue cheese dressing which is great in and of itself, but even better to dip the pizza in!
