We used Chester Body shop and towing to do some repair work through our insurance. The work performed was appropriate and we have not had any issues in the past week since getting the car back. Getting payment set up through insurance went smoothly. Communication with us was poor. They told the claims adjuster that our car would be ready when it wasn't causing issues in our car rental. When they realized the car was not actually ready, they did not contact us. We found out by calling to verify pick up times. They failed to contact us again when they had to delay pick up a second time due to ordering the wrong part. Again, we only found this out by calling to verify pick up which was frustrating due to figuring out childcare. Had a big piece of rubber (2' X 3') fly up and into the front passenger side of my almost brand new Honda CRV while on a trip from near Richmond, VA to Pittsburgh, PA. The rubber slammed into our car with a huge thud. When we were able to stop, we saw damaged front body parts. Yes, I was sick about it, but I was unable to avoid the rubber at 75 MPH. To make a long story short, Chester Auto Body gave me an estimate, did the work, and I have the car back. WOW!!!! It looks brand new. They did an awesome job, flawless. I can not tell anywhere where the damage was--very impressed. They even detailed the whole car, inside and out. 5 stars seems inadequate. read more

I was in a minor fender bender and was referred by USAA, so I was shocked when the service they gave was terrible! They didn't repair my car completely! They had to replace my AC and never made sure it was filled with the coolant, so my AC didn't work when I got the car back and had to go else where to get it fixed! Also, they must have poorly installed my headlight because the light flickers off and on! And I went back to have them fix it and they still didn't fix it properly! I wish I would of never went to them and just took my car to the actual dealership! Worst service ever! And I don't like when people who do a horrible job act like they have an attitude when you try to tell them something still isn't working! read more

I caught the front vinyl bumper on my Cadillac SRX on a cement car stop when backing out of a parking space. This had happened previously so both front sides needed repair. I took the car to Chester Body Shop. and they fixed both front sides while I waited. They did a great job and when we asked about the bill, they replied "no charge." Deer hit driver side doors. I took the car for repairs as scheduled, for a 5 day work, approved by my insurance. The shop gave one excuse or another, including lies to insurance agent, to finish work after five weeks in their store-closing minutes. I had to take the car back next week for door not latched correct. They fixed it instantly this time, to their credit. read more

I couldn't be more satisfied with my car!! I had gotten into my first accident (that was my fault) in the 15+ years of driving, it was a very scary experience...but they were all very thoughtful and made everything painless!! They talked to my insurance for me and had enterprise rental car people waiting for me when I dropped off my car and returned it for me. They gone though and explained all the repairs with me and even checked my battery! Not only was I treated like gold but was constantly reassured that everything would be fixed accordingly and quick. The one star rating is too generous, I think, given my experience with Chester Body Shop today. The story started last night, when my son wrecked his vehicle around 10:00PM. Chesterfield Police apparently called Chester Body Shop, and they came out and got the vehicle. Keep in mind, this is after 10:00PM. My son was not injured, thankfully. The guys at Chester Body Shop never asked. The next morning, I tried to call and enquire about the vehicle, but phone problems forced me to head down there to check things out. I was astounded to hear that the bill for the towing was $440! I asked why the bill was so high, and was told that the after hours tow was $218, the winch fee, apparently not included in the tow fee, was $93. There was also already a charge of $42 for storage. Most places don't assess this fee until the vehicle has been in their possession for at least 24 hours, but Chester Body does! Rounding out our $440 bill is a charge for $87 for a 'DMV admin' fee. When I asked about this, I was told that they had already contacted DMV to file a "storage lien" against the title of the vehicle. I asked why this had been filed, when it had scarcely been 12 hours since the tow, and I hadn't even been given half a chance to figure out what to do. I was told that they have 3 days to file that paperwork, so it was filed. After reeling from this information for a little while, having left the tow yard to go to work, I called Chester Body Shop, and spoke to Rick Walters, apparently the son of Billy Walters, founder of the business. I simply asked him if there was any room on this bill to soften the blow a bit, as I am only at the beginning of what promises to be a costly vehicle nightmare. Nope. He wasn't even nice about telling me no. At that point, I quoted to Rick was is printed on the back side of the business card I was given. I quote... "The legacy began over 45 years ago, when Billy Walters envisioned an auto body shop in Chester with a reputation for taking care of its customers like they were family..." Rick then decided to give me a lecture about whether it's a smart business practice to give non family the family rate! Sorry Billy, your son has destroyed your vision for you. Unless that's how it is in your family, in which case, you can keep your Christmas cards! No thank you! In short, wrecking a vehicle is obviously not a good situation for anybody. It's scary, people often get hurt, valuable property is destroyed, not to mention the hassle of trying to clean everything up afterward. If you want to support a business that believes in piling on, after you're already in crisis, then by all means patronize Chester Body Shop. I'm sure they'd be happy to crap on you like they did me. If you'd like to see crooks like this go out of business, then please stay away! God help me, I will! read more

I took a new car in with body damage. They said it would be 10 business days to fix and no problem. This was completely false. It took 28 days to fix the body. I first was told they broke a clip (who know what that is) and it would be a day more to fix. A week goes by and then upon pick up, these guys did a terrible paint job, runs in the paint, bubbles, wax marks, etc. Body A pillar was not fixed to straight.. Then to add insult to injury they damaged the inside of the car by putting a hole in the arm rest. The inside never was damaged in the accident so they did it. They never admitted fault but paid to have it replaced *the arm rest. Then they had it delivered to my home after nearly a month in the shop. It had a scratch on the front fender and they broke the heater seat switch. They refused to take any ownership for it. This is the worst repair shop that anyone I know has every dealt with. They also lied to State Farm stating we took the car home in mid January when in fact they had the car the entire time. They tried to pass the car off as repaired on the outside and all along the inside was damaged. If I hadn't looked at the interior of my car I would have left their lot and they would never have taken any ownership for punching a hole into the interior door panel. This is pathetic and to make it worse they are on the preferred list of repair shops for State Farm. Customers beware!!! Check the BBB rating before you ever set foot into a repair shop. By the way, they are a D minus *F is the worst in service. I wish I had known. This shop clearly has no ethical responsibility in customer service. Don't go there if you want your car in the job for a month and have a terrible paint job. They also could damage your car while its there. I hope this helps someone else before you ever think about have your car fixed there. I definitely DO NOT recommend anyone go there.. read more

We took my mother in laws car in for repair in November. We were told up front that it would take a while to get the repair done. The insurance company was there within a day to issue them payment to begin repairs so there should not have been any delays based on that. Mid December, she called to check in since had never heard anything and was told it would be ready the week after Christmas. Still not having heard anything, we stopped by, and of course the car is not ready, it will be another week but they will call. Two weeks later still not having heard anything we stopped in again, car will be another week. She called two weeks after that because of they never called her and they said it would be ready the next day. We were unable to pick it up until that day (my husband and I work), so we planned to pick it up after an appointment the following day. And guess what, the car wouldn't start. They had to take it to the dealer to be diagnosed because even a new battery didn't solve the problem. They were supposed to call that same day to update us and never did. We had to call the next morning to find that supposedly the car is ready. We have not been yet to pick it up. Just an FYI.... For a car due to be completed the week after Christmas, it is now February and it is just getting picked today. read more
