Huge props to San Pedro Square, the city of San Jose, and the San Jose Earthquakes for making the…read more2026 World Cup so fun and exiting for the city! I went to the Canada vs. South Africa game on a Sunday, so the vibes and crowds were very chill and not too crowded at all. There was plenty of room on the street, and I also liked how there were so many other areas and screens inside the market and also in their patio, so you're not just limited to the street outside. Really cool that you can get drinks to go and enjoy them outside. The flow can be a bit confusing though, there's certain sidewalks and ramps you need to take to get to certain restaurants and buildings. You also can't take outside food into the Market itself (including drinks). Will definitely try to go back for more games before this ends for good!

2026 WORLD CUP WATCH PARTY "TAKE ME HOME, COUNTRY ROADS"…read more Whenever there was a World Cup I would go to pubs to drink, eat, and watch. Since the USA was co-hosting the 2026 World Cup along with Mexico and Canada I wanted to see if there was a World Cup watch party worth going to. San Jose is the perfect city in the Bay Area to watch the World Cup as the Earthquakes play there. After searching on the web, San Jose Earthquakes were hosting World Cup watch parties at San Pedro Square Market. The first game I attend for the World Cup watch party was USA-Paraguay. I have a stake on this game. I bought three games at Levi's Stadium for the World Cup including the Round of 32 with the first-place winner of Group D, which USA is in. I waited in anticipation for this 6:00 PM game. I was amazed to witness USA ahead 3-0 at halftime. The second half I was concerned when Paraguay scored, but at the end USA won 4-1. With this result I was 50% sure the USA would finish first in Group D. People celebrated and danced after USA won. I knew I had to come back to San Pedro Square Market. The second USA game I watched here was against Australia on Juneteenth. The day after USA beat Paraguay, Australia shockingly beat Turkey 2-0. The stage was set. USA would move to the Round of 32 if they beat Australia. At halftime USA was ahead 2-0. The game ended with that final score. I was 90% sure USA would finish first in their group. (Later that night Turkey lost to Paraguay that resulted USA finishing first in Group D.) The scenes at San Pedro Square Market were great after the USA's wins with the DJ playing hip hop songs the crowd danced to. However I want to make a request to the DJ. At Seattle after USA beat Australia John Denver's song "Take Me Home, Country Roads" was played inside the stadium with the fans singing. Please DJ to get the crowd hype for the next USA games play "Take Me Home, Country Roads". I guarantee the attendees at San Pedro Square Market will make the atmosphere the loudest World Cup watch party in the Bay Area.

Yo! This place is pretty fun!…read more Been here a couple of times with my buddies after work for some shenanigans. Now, I'm not like, craaaaaaaAaAaAaazy about Dive Bards, but every once in awhile one will sing to me and can just strike a chord on my heart strings. Oh? Bar? Not Bard? Mah bad! Yes! I LOVE bars! But usually, yes, I prefer a more lively, younger crowd, but yeah, when you roll with the homies, basically everything becomes more funner to some degree. But this little ditty also has Karaoke, the fun kind! Not that go-hide-in-a-small-room-that-stinks with your 30 friends, but the kind where you're on a full stage in front of EVERYONE. E-V-E-R-Y-O-N-E!!! They also have a pretty sweet selection of IPAs. Don't know about anything else because I do not CARE about anything else!! YAY!! KTHXBAI! LUVYOU!!

The KJ that's usually there on Mondays (Laura) is so sweet and runs her show incredibly well. I have no issue with her or with most of the people I have met here (I LOVE THE BARTENDER AMANDA WHEN SHE IS THERE!!) and I usually have such a good time! Frankly, I had a nice time tonight with the actual karaoke, sans what is written below. My one star review is specifically related to the experience that I had tonight with the bartender. I did not get her name. My partner ordered drinks for him and myself. My partner tipped the bartender 30% for the two drinks. (It was $14 for a mixed cocktail and a soda-- a little pricey, but I guess it's reasonable for a bar that has some kind of live music every night despite the fact that we've gotten the same order and been charged a different price on previous visits with other bartenders.) Later, I went back to the bar to ask for two waters. The bartender told me that it would be $4 each, because they only sell bottled water. (They have a full bar, with a gun that has water. Multiple bartenders here have previously given me water from the gun without charge, as is the STANDARD at every bar I have ever been to.) I told her water from the gun would be fine. She tried to argue with me. I once again requested water from the gun, saying I didn't mind and that it would be fine. She told me she would give it to me and charge me $2 per glass, at which point I gave up and went back to my table without the water. Charging your patrons for WATER at a bar is ridiculous. If you have people drinking copious amounts of alcohol and you refuse to give them water when they request it, it's also a liability. Charging your patrons for water ANYWHERE is, frankly, ridiculous. I'll just go drink it from the tap in the bathroom for free, I guess. Not a great experience, but if that's what it takes then I guess I can do it. Really incredibly disappointed. I come to this bar regularly and have never seen this bartender before, and hope that I don't see her again. A huge shoutout again to Laura the KJ, because she's epic. If this review was just about her, it would be 5 stars. Same for Amanda, the bartender we've chatted with before. She would get 5 stars from me as well.

So we recently went to see "A Beautiful Noise" and sat in the orchestra Row 21 Seat 27 basically right of center and I could see the balcony speakers a few rows in front of me. The balance and loudness in those speakers are off and can be really loud and jarring. When we saw &Juliet and sat center second row from the stage, the sound was so much better. So perhaps it's just those speakers that are off when they do tests and it can be horrifying or great. Each side of the theater do have bathrooms but it does take a while to get to the right side of the theater. I still wish they had a center aisle as people were having to climb over chairs when they missed their row by one. We're now parking a couple blocks away for free after 6:30pm which is nice but it's definitely a gamble. Worse case we park at the nearby open lot across the street and pay a fair amount for a downtown city parking lot. Definitely cheaper than SF. Also if you check out seating before a show you want and there's plenty of seats available, go a a couple hours before the show and buy it for only $40 for rush seats. You can choose where to sit and all the seats left are $40. If a show has digital lottery, if you win, the seats are only $35 and I learned this year that the seats are basically the first few rows right in front of the stage. So well worth it if you win. Recently the ushers have been better about giving out the pamphlets which has been lovely. Overall, will I still come here to see shows? Yes cause it's much easier to get to than SF. Is it the best venue? Hit or miss depending on how the soundcheck goes (if they even do a soundcheck).

Every part of the day had its own perfect vibe and they nailed all of it. They played every song we wanted and steered completely clear of the ones we didn't, which honestly meant so much to us. Our guests would not stop raving about the music all night and weeks after! We loved every second of it. The dance floor was full from start to finish. And then when the band started playing during the dinner, it was clear that they would make the night. People were dancing even before the dinner ended and the dance party began. Radio Gatsby brought so much energy with their renditions of the songs we chose; the floor was crowded with dancers all night as they played banger after banger. They took great solos, sang beautiful vocals, and made every moment special, from the first dance to the hora to the last song. It was well worth the extra expense of having a live band instead of a DJ, no question about it!

A musician's dream!…read more Per the recommendation of our wedding planner, we worked with Hella Fitzgerald for our wedding in Big Sur, CA in August 2023. One of the best decisions we made for our wedding. I am a musician myself and had a lot of specifications for what I wanted throughout our ceremony, first dance, and dancing portions of the evening. And I mean a LOT of specifications! Music is something I am very particular about. Lilan worked closely with me on everything from which 2nd singer to hire to match the feel we wanted (the band works with various singers) to learning new songs that we had requested to adjusting songs to specific BPMs!!! She never seemed to lose her patience with me and would text me randomly with ideas or singer leads. One time she even texted me a couple vocal riffs she sang into her phone to see what I would prefer. We wanted a fun, sexy, big band feel and a talented group of musicians who could perform soul, Latin, swing, R&B, and everything in between. That is exactly what we got. We never left the dance floor. Thank you HF!
