Truly grateful to have BRENDA as my go to stylist! I've followed Brenda and her magical shears now for about 4 years, and can honestly say as a tried and true customer, will never stray. As other Yelpers have noted, Brenda is incredibly easy to talk to and will take the time necessary to evaluate and assess your locks for a style that compliments you and your lifestyle. My hair in its natural state is very fine and, sadly, lifeless. Left on its own, it lies flat and dull. Thankfully, Brenda has worked her magic over it time and time again. For the past two years, she's styled me seamlessly through the world of extensions. Though a laborious process, the results were definitely worth the time and money spent. If you're interested in extensions at all, I would definitely suggest going in to the salon personally to have a consultation with her about your options. Trust me, it's life changing! Although the extensions she had me wearing were non-invasive (they basically were beaded on to my hair and would grow out with my natural hair growth), Brenda recommended letting my hair take a breather for a year. At the time, I was hesitant to do so as I was now spoiled with luscious, voluminous hair. I agreed, however, after she reassured me that we could put them back in after 6 months if I absolutely wanted to. In exchange, Brenda gave me a haircut she explained was U-shaped, which would give me the illusion of a fuller body of hair. I've just had my first visit here and decided this is where I'll be coming back for all my hair needs. First off, Brenda is highly trained yet very friendly and easy to talk to, which is important when you expect to be there for more than 30 mins. She first takes the time to consult with you on your needs and preferences, which is so great when compared to other salons that just ask you simple directions like 'how long? bangs? what color?' Brenda actually evaluates your hair, its health, its color, its thickness, etc and comes up with suggestions on how to improve your hair. She also very honest. Where she could have seized an opportunity to suggest frequent hair treatment visits, she told me that my hair is actually pretty healthy as long as I brush it! Clearly, I'm a low-maintenance gal and am easily inspired by the new trends. But Brenda took the time to walk me through what type of haircut would work for me and my very low maintenance lifestyle. I ended up loving my lob (long bob), the short layers are tastefully blended in and not choppy as she taught me would be a "bad haircut". And I am so happy that she suggested a shorter length that got rid of the splt ends and this weird knot that has been perpetually growing into a dreadlock on the nape of my head. I came in for a Brazilian Blowout and a trim about 2 weeks ago. Everything turned out fantastic - I couldn't have asked for anything better! I have naturally curly hair and to be able to blow-dry and straighten it in under 20 minutes is in incredible. Rachelle has been my hair stylist for 5 years. She does a great job on men's haircuts, always finds a way to fit me in, gives me red carpet service, and makes me feel like a good friend - every time. She's got great energy and a great heart. You'll feel like you are the only one on her schedule for that day. Her individual studio is set apart from the other stylists at Phenix at the District and not the crazy hubbub that you'll experience at a large salon. A side benefit is that you can take advantage of the setting and see a movie, have lunch/dinner, enjoy a glass of wine at The Winery, or just hang out and people watch before or after your cut.
