I had a similar experience like Karen with the brake and lamp inspection. I understand if I don't complete the work with the shop right there, I have to repay for a brake and lamp inspection, that was less of my issue. Certificate is $115 (pass or fail they get your money No matter what, no retest like smog for free), so he tells me I need a glaze on my headlights for $150, and brake flush $150 because the dip stick shows it needs a flush. I know how dip stick testers work, it always says discard after x number of minutes. So I tell him that is not a valid read because it's over the acceptable readable time, read the bottle. He says "no worries, I will retest for you" he retests it for me and it clearly shows it's fine no brake flush needed. I tell him "see". He said to me "who has the license?! Whatever I say goes" lol. Got me there you criminal. Just like his response to Karen's post. He charges just enough to not make it worth going to another shop and lose out on the non Refundable inspection fee. I get you have to make a buck, but this guy is the very definition of "scam likely". Move along if you can. read more

I have taken all my cars and work vehicles to get smogged here with out any issues. It is a hidden gem and no appointment is needed, but I always call ahead just in case. It is less than 30 mins... service is always great and they are competitively priced. read more

First, let me apologize to everyone who has come to this shop over the past 2 years and had a bad experience because I did not write this review in a timely manner. The experience I had with the shop when I brought my Nissan Xterra here for a head gasket replacement was about as bad as could be imagined, and I'm still dealing with a problem caused by their poor workmanship. I'll spare you the details, but I ultimately had to take the car to the dealer to have them fix the things that the boys at the Chevron shop got wrong, and this was after first paying them more money to figure out what they screwed up in the first place! They lack integrity by not fessing up to problems caused by their own incompetence, they are careless, and will use cheap, unreliable replacement parts. You can maybe trust these guys to do a smog check, but don't trust them with any major repairs. read more

Came in for a smog check and had a great experience. Super quick, straightforward, and no runaround. The staff was friendly and professional, explained everything clearly, and had me in and out way faster than I expected. Prices were fair and the whole process was smooth. The Chevron at Cottle Rd x Santa Teresa is a full service gas station. Full Service as in it has: -Gasoline -Smog Testing -Food mart -Auto Repair But it doesn't have a carwash. But what's more important? Auto repair or a carwash? Well, speaking from experience, if you car breaks down.....no one cares if it's clean and shiny. I have never used the auto repair garage, or the smog testing. I mainly just get gas before getting on the freeway. This station tends to have pricey gasoline. Why? Prime location. It's near the freeway, it's at a major crossroads, and it's near Kaiser- San Jose. Also, Chevron is a major brand of gas. I paid the $6.25/Reg to gas up my truck, because it runs better and smoother on Chevron. I gassed up with cheaper gas the other day, and got poor performance. So, 3-stars for this station. Only you can decide if it's worth the price. read more

This shop scammed me with the 2nd break inspections charge. This shop failed the first break inspection because of the ABS light on dashboard. Came back after the ABS light was fixed by another mechanic from other shop. They charged me 115.00 pass or fail. Called me in less than 1 hour to let me know that something is wrong with the rotors. This was the time I knew I'm being scammed and taken advantage of. If you are a woman or someone who doesn't know anything about car parts, please beware of going to this shop. They will automatically take advantage of you and let you know of other things that are broken in your car even if you know there is nothing wrong with it. I wasn't born yesterday! I took my car to a reputable shop. My car passed the break inspection with flying colors. The mechanic drove the car first to ensure my breaks are working good and then inspected them. Very honest and you know for sure they are providing quality service. This shop explained to me that if the inspection fails and I have it fixed somewhere else, I will only have to pay 40.00 to reinspect it If done within 1 month. The exact opposite of Santa Teresa Chevron- this shop never explained anything to me. All they were interested was the payment. read more

Most expensive gas around the area consistently, even inside the store the prices are insane. Big bag of beef jerky was $25 and the same bag was $14 at Walmart. Asked to use the air multiple times and always get questioned "have you purchased gas?" After saying yes I did he said "the button is broke come back tomorrow" really!?! They literally nickel and dime for everything here. I've learned to drive over the hill to Safeway where gas is almost a dollar cheaper consistently. Not to mention the water in the window cleaning station smells terrible and has no cleaning solution. Here you get the bare minimum for the most money. Go elsewhere! read more

I never had a problem with their service here. I go here whenever I get a flat tire. They're quick.

To be blunt they are out to rip you off as much as possible, so go somewhere else. I owned my own detail shop and in no way shape or form would I rip off customers like they do. I would even tell customers the detail we did last time is still good so no need to do it again and send them on their way, not so sure they would do that. I thought I would take a chance on a Smog Check. I replaced the battery in my car and did not drive it far enough. I have had several friends do the same and ALL of the Smog Shops let them know they needed to drive the car more so the computer can be calibrated as a courtesy with some charging but most don't and just bring it back when you have done the 200 miles+ and we will retest. Great customer Service. This place dinged me $60, never bothered to call me to let me know I did not pass because I did not drive far enough. Nor do they do a free retest as almost every Smog shop does if you don't pass the first time. I also have to agree with joe m. i asked a very simple question about a C.A.R.B related aftermarket filter and the tech became very confrontational/argumentative for no reason. read more

I called just to ask if They take appointment for oil change. A guy picked up the phone and said, "hold on please." Ok, sure. Then he finally talked to me, asked him my questions. And i just repeated what he said to make sure i got it right...while i was doing that he said "thank you u have a good night." I WAS NOT EVEN DONE TALKING THAT MOTHAF*%#%]A hang up on me. I called again (good thing it as him who answered) i told him that i was not done talking and u up the phone, thats so rude. I would understand if ur busy and just tell me to freaking hold....just say it. This guy got the nerve!!! He started screaming on the phone (i am not exaggerating) saying that i am just calling regarding the change oil and theyre close. Damn! I am coming just to say hi to you I know your accent. Might have been a bit more expensive than most but they took such great care of my husband's car. Smog checks can be worrisome when you love your car, accidental scratches from tools or worse. My lights work, adjusted and I am happy it cost me only $200 total. Which this place would of charged me 1000% more. Just like someones moon roof. These guys wanted to charge $800 for installation. The worst gas station I ever been to. I purchase gas in the morning. went to my doctors appointment which is right next to them. Right after my appointment. I had to go back to the gas station because I had a low pressure tire warning. This is where things went wrong. when I went inside the gas station to ask the cashier If he could turn on the air compressor for me. The answers with have I purchased gas. Which I told him I did this morning. His response with no I didn't purchase gas and he wasn't gonna turn on the air compressor. read more

I had a bad experience trying to get air my bike tire that had a slow leak. I asked the attendant if he can turn on the compressor but said it did not work ... even if you had the coins to start it. I ask the mechanic in the shop if they have a compressor he said yes, but the attendant came by and said we don't have any and the mechanic is busy. Terrible customer service!! read more

I work close by, a once convenient location which i would frequent,has become one to avoid. On multiple occasions the attendant has offerrd terrible customer service ,as he is aggitated, and suspicious of every customer. Most recently on 9/22, at approximately 10 am, and tonight 10/31 at 1140 pm, I visited for gas, and air. I have fallen victim to the weather changes, frequently needing to adjust tire pressure. Each time the compressor is off, and i have visited the attendant asking for assistance. The attendant, equally rude and aggitated each visit, interrogates me about whether i am a paying customer , demanding a receipt(which never prints out of the pump) and my pump number. I always offer the pump number and number of gallons pumped (he becomes more and more agitated and aggressive) Refusing to assist me as he requires deep detail before begrudgingly turning on the compressor. Even offering to pay (again) to end this painfully awkward interaction offers no change in his behavior. Tonight i was forced to wake him for attendance, which he laughed about! Then yelled at me through the glass demanding my receipt.( also never opening the mic) im not a loud person, in his annoyance, he opened communication in attempt to shew me away, he then looked up the pump information i was offering. After deeply examining his screen he continued to act as if i was lying, then hit the button for air.An interrogation for air is absolutely unacceptable, as this is included in fuel costs in California. I would love to frequently access a gas station conveniently located near my place of work, though i currently use this location as a last resort. These experiences are exhausting! Ill continue driving to locations further out for services. This is a location to avoid! read more

There is a reason that this shop has such low ratings. Textbook example of price gouging at its finest for simple auto repairs. I just went in to have a headlight replaced and he was trying to charge me $60 in labor just for putting in a headlight bulb... This is for a 2005 Subaru and it takes about five minutes and a pair of needle nose pliers to accomplish. I even asked if he would be willing to work with me on the $60 labor fee if it only ended up taking them 10 minutes to do and he simply replied no. Absolutely ridiculous read more

I take all my cars to this Chevron. Always a good experience. Best thing is when I need a repair it's done quickly and within the estimate they provided. I looked through some of the other reviews. Seems like disgruntled people. So you come at 5pm when they close, and there's no one here to fix your tire, and then you complain? And yes, free air is for paying customers. They dont need to provide it for people just stopping by for free air. Read the law on that. Station is clean. Everyone I've dealt with here has been nice and professional.
