I've been here before with no problems but today when I came in, I dont know if he was having a bad day or the customer before him gave him problems but I came in positive asking him how he was doing and if he had time to do a smog check on my vehicle and he has done it for the same vehicle before then I asked him how much would it cost, he replied $55.00. I responded "ohh ok price went up huh?" Not because I wanted a discount just the price went up thats all and he responded if you dont like it then go somewhere else. I tried explaining myself that I was just stating that the price went up and not asking for a cheaper price as a small talk but basically blew me off and kept saying just go somewhere else so at that point took my business somewhere else, dont want to give my business to a person that treats you that way. read more

He said another shop could help out. I asked what it was that I needed to provide and instead of explaining he said "Well I'm not going to do it so I don't need to explain why." I'm unsure as to why he refused service but it certainly was not because of a paperwork issue and I would bet money that it's not because of my car. I believe he may not have been very knowledgeable. This WAS my go-to smog place for nearly a decade, never had any issues. However, this year for my required smog, it appears like the owner was not on point with his customer service so I took my car and money elsewhere. 1) I showed up 30 min before the advertised closing time and he said he was closing and rolled the door down. Seriously? Ok fine, maybe he had somewhere else to be that day. I waited a couple of days to come back before noon. 2) Came back and finally he took my 95 Camry in, only to tell me he can't do the smog because it doesn't have some emissions label under the hood so he doesn't know what to input in the computer. I told him it's the same car that I've brought in the last time and many times prior. I asked if it was a new state regulations or law that was enacted recently because I was genuinely curious. He just told me to go to another smog check place. Ok fine. So I did and it was $15 cheaper and more professional. The man who helped us offered all of us a bottle of water while we waited. I waited maybe about 20 minutes for the two other cars to finish up. I went to go get my car smog at this location and it didn't pass because my pcv hose was supposedly flat so I went and took it to another smog and it passed without any issues! Don't bother coming to this picky smog check. If any lil stupid thing is off he won't pass you even if your smog monitors are all on!! If he tells you it didn't pass go to auto zone and have them check for your smog monitors and if they tell you they are good take it to another smog check place. I would highly recommend going during the week. Its located next to a gas station so it can get a bit hectic. Very simple and hassle-free smog check service. On a weekday during lunch time, there were no lines and the person did the smog check immediately. He asked me to write down basic information on a form and got started with the service. It was quick - I was in and out in 15-20 min. I would rate this less if I could quite honestly. Today, I showed up at 1:55 and saw a sign on his front door that said he was gone, but he'd be back at 1:45. I thought to myself that maybe he meant 2:45, so I waited in the hot Bay Area sun for over an hour. By 3:10, I was getting upset because I saw him just sitting inside, but the door was still locked. There were already a few other cars waiting with me, so I went up to the front and knocked hard. This dude finally comes out, but he's yelling at me screaming "Don't you do that!"
