I always have wonderful service here. Food comes out fast, hot, and delicious. My favorite item is the crispy chicken flautas.

Not only was our server one of the best, if not the best I have ever had dining in at a restaurant, but the food was truly amazing! Since eating there yesterday, I have been craving the food and can not wait to go back! I have told numerous friends and family members to dine here. The service here was just terrible. Usually food is quick and service prompt. Not the case tonight as our server Jessica was totally uninterested. The fish tacos have gone down to a single strip of talapia and I can live with that but not with crappy service. I left a tip only because my wife insisted but the service did not warrant it. Had to void my second beer only because it took too long. Plenty of other choices in Annapolis and Chevy's has just been crossed off my list and I have been coming here for years. I cannot emphasis the level of un-interest and rudeness of our server. Also, sad to say for a Mexican 'restaurant', you can get a much better fish taco just about anywhere to include Greene Turtle. Their fish taco has plenty of fish and not just bean and rice filler. Wish I had taken a picture of that pathetic taco. read more

Never go here! Service was terrible. Two of my coworkers got violently ill after the bartender gave them a free drink. Yes and right after they complained about waiting a really long time for a drink. The bartender said she made the drink by accident and wanted to see if we wanted it. Unfortunately, I had a pretty bad experience. Chips and salsa were delivered and there were ants crawling around on the chips. I informed our waiter and it was replaced with a new one with apologies. The mgr also stopped by to apologize and was sincere about it. However, when I dug into the new chips, I noticed another type of bug crawling on the chips. Being with a large group I didn't make a scene or say anything else. Had I been there by myself, I would have refused to pay for the meal and left. I took a few bites of my dinner which didn't impress me either even if and that's a big if, it didn't contain any bugs. It had to have. Nice people but I would recommend passing on this place. They need to tent and fumigate the place and start over. read more

Ok so normally I am a Chevys fan..especially for the Fajitas however this trip was not very good. The Fajitas were cold and not very fresh the chicken being dry and over cooked and the Fajita nachos were even worse. We ended up not finishing finding both quite unpalatable. What really rankled me was on the way out, I actually saw Fajitas that were prepared well. I guess I should have sent mine back but not wanting to be stuck in the place for another 20 minutes, we let it go. The service was pretty good. Not sure why this restaurant doesn't have 5 stars. It was my first time there and it was amazing. Super friendly staff, great atmosphere with good and incredibly fast service. My food arrived approximately 3 minutes after I ordered, I wasn't even halfway through the complimentary chips and salsa. The food was authentic Mexican, not Taco Bell. It was spicy, but that's to be expected with Mexican faire. I enjoy spicy food despite it's penchant for causing me to start sweating. We went to celebrate my friends birthday, we told them multiple times and we didnt get a birthday celebration. I am disappointed.

So I do love Chevy's in general. This location was cool. We came in and was seated right away on a Wednesday night around 8. The place was virtually empty. We ordered our food and it seems like it came out in 5 minutes. I ordered the seafood enchiladas! I was not at all pleased with it. The enchilada had potatoes in it as a substitute for seafood! I was not at all impressed. I've had the same entree at another location, and it did not have potatoes in it. I also ordered the guacamole. Def not a fan of their version. It was chunky as a mutha and had more "other stuff" in it, then avacado. No bueno! So for that reason alone, I was not happy. Surprised to be seated immediately on a busy holiday weekend! Waitstaff was helpful but not overbearing. The fresh salsa with the chips is so good, you won't want to stop eating it! The Top Shelf margarita was fantastic! The large was as big as my face and had ample adult beverage to make it with the money! The shrimp and crab enchiladas were really tasty. This is an update to my previous review which oddly enough is posted to a different variation of the restaurant name.. So much of my lunch experience bothered me today... It started with the septic system cleanout that was taking place on the side of the building and the stench was horrible. Why can't this be done before opening???? (Normally this would have caused me to turn around and go somewhere else, but because I was starving and craving Mexican, I decided to soldier on...) The place was empty--I mean I was about their only customer. Granted it was early (11:30) and raining, but it was odd given that any other time I have been by, it's quite busy. The waitress was very attentive and nice. The appetizer (cheese dip--I forget the Mexican name) came almost too fast--I'm sure they just scooped it out of a waming pot, but that's ok, it was tasty except for an occassional bit of an herb I did not like. (cilantro?) I do not care for their salsa. I know it's fresh and made every few hours and all, but I just don't like the flavor--I know this is just personal preference, but it's not my cup of tea.. And I don't care for their fresh nachos, either--they are too flimsey. What bothered me more me was that during my meal, one of the staff stood next to my table and chatted with another employee--not a big deal, just annoying. I ordered the combo of beef taco and chicken flauta. The taco was... meh...again, the crumbly, super thin shell and not much flavor. And as always, they looked at me with that puzzled expression when I asked for taco sauce. (Hope springs eternal...) Instead, the waitress offered me the same pink goo as always--ailoi (not exactly what I had in mind) and I thought wistfully of the fabulous sauces at the authentic restaurants I have been through over the years. (Any of them would have punched up this sub-par version a knotch or two) The flautas were delicious and I loved the jalapeno jelly for dipping---yumm. So, it was not bad, but I think 2 stars suffices--I have had better. I know this is a come-down from my previous rating, but that was how today's experience left me feeling... The worst part, though, was leaving. They were still pumping the poop, and the smell was sickening. It lingered in my car all the way home and I felt like I was going to be ill... read more

My knitting group meets here once a month for happy hour. We sit in the bar and enjoy $2 margaritas and half price appetizers until 7pm. The service is always great and so is the food and drink. Every month I get the fajita nachos and a margarita or two. That plate of food is huge and delicious and during happy hour I can enjoy all that and a margarita and spend only about $10 including tip. Disappointment is the word that comes up first. Between margaritas with sour mix instead of freshly made, under cooked enchiladas, and when I ask for "hot salsa" drops Cholula hot sauce it front of me, in a haste. Let's not even talk about how long it took someone to greet me (hint: the person next to me (at the bar) got his drink before me and he came 10 minutes after me) or long it took the server to check on me and bring the check (hint: I had to choose a new movie theater time). My boyfriend and I love coming to this Chevys restaurant. Everyone is pleasant and attentive. The frozen watermelon margarita is to die for and the food is great. I always end up taking half of my food home because they give you so much. Jackie is one of the best and we always make it a point to find and speak to her, even if she isn't our waiter. Chips and salsa to start the meal are noce. Not too salty, like many places end up doing. The salsa has just enough heat to keep me happy but not so much to upset those who are more sensitive. Guac is very good and fresh. Sometimes, the server will make it tableside. Nice that this place is not getting it out of a package. The meals are big and hearty. No skimping, at all. If you have ever eaten at a Chichi's, El Torito, or any other mass franchised Mexican Restaurant, you have eaten at a Chevy's. Restaurant is huge, bright and extremely hip and stylish if the current calendar year read 1995. The food is always fresh and good. The fire roasted salsa is the best anywhere. However, they need to do their tee shirt sales by the host/hostess stand rather than have the servers do those at the table. We came at 2:15 p.m. and there was only one server on the floor. She spent ten minutes with customers who were finished eating but wanted to see various colors, designs, and sizes if shirts, which the server ran back and forth into the kitchen to get. She apologized and said she'd be right over, but still we were there ten minutes without water, chips, salsa, anything. Came here for a graduation celebration which was held in the back room at Chevys! This Chevys is huge with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. I had a skinny cucumber jalapeño margarita which was delicious. Since it was a party food was served in stations. My favorites where the corn bread "stuffing" (not sure what is what actually called) and something that resembled a southwestern egg roll. We had the flan for desert which was just okay. Overall, I think this Chevys is a perfectly adequate chain restaurant that is exactly what you would expect! read more

Why do we keep going to Chevys? Waited 5 min to be seated. Waited 10 min to get chips, salsa and water. Ordered the guacamole that they are supposed to make fresh at the table... he didn't. He brought 4 small scoops from the kitchen. It was just not a great experience. The manager did comp us for the guacamole, but the whole experience was just kind of blah. Depressing place. read more

I came here with a group for work (who are locals). Obviously, coming from San Diego at this point, I have a bit of a higher standard for Mexican food. However, the server was really friendly and attentive. Chips and salsa was pretty tasty and actually I think the most authentic part. Not quite the same quality restaurant when this chain first opened in the Oakland, California area many years ago. But still it has some decent lunch staples and I have made repeated visits to this location over the years. This location also has nice comfortable seating outside and has always welcomed my dog Morris when we have lunch on the patio. Service is generally good at lunch with some servers being notably more attentive than others. Generally I get the fish taco platter with tilapia. It comes with a serving of sweet corn tamalito, rice and beans. Occasionally I order the carnitas and the tortilla soup. They offer two fresh salsas and chips as part of the meal. I like the hotter one but you usually have to request it. I think that this location and the overall quality of the food has actually improved recently. They Annapolis Chevys changed their menu!! All our favorites are gone! They even changed the rice! The Annapolis Chevys may still buy ingredients from the Chevys franchise and make some if their dishes but this Annapolis location has their own 'new' menu that IS NOT THE SAME as the menu online for all other Chevys; BEWARE this location still links to the old corporate menu online but that IS NOT their menu! Bar, Balloons for kids, and atmosphere stayed the same but the food is not so good anymore! read more

We usually love Chevys in Annapolis. The food is pretty good and our server (Alba) was very sweet. It did however take at least 20 minutes to get our margaritas. We had already finished our appetizer before we got them. Once the drinks did arrive they tasted like ice water. We asked to see a manager. He came over made a bunch of different excuses for why they tasted bad and never apologized once. He did bring us two new drinks and still, never apologized. The drinks were better but FULL of ice. So you are paying 10.50 for a cup of ice. I don't think we would have been so disappointed in our experience had the manager acted like he cared. Next time we want Mexican food, we may just skip over Chevys. read more

Great place to take the kids! It is pretty loud in there so especially great with small kids who may be a bit noisey. Their chips and salsa are made on the property so are always fresh and very good. The food is consistent and lives up to the Chevy's name overall. read more

My husband and I love this place. We love the fresh made guacamole. Last time we came here it was hubby and my date night. The waiter remembered us from a few months ago when we had came in with our kids. The service was excellent, the waiter made sure that our glasses stayed filled. The waiter remembered my husband and I like to take our time eating the guacamole, salsa and cheese dip and then get our food later. He told us when we had the guacamole and cheese dip come out that he was going to put our entree in then. He remembered that I eat healthy from the previous time we were there and even suggested a salad for me to get. I declined it last time since my husband and I were going to split the chicken fajitas. Chevys is about what one could expect from a chain restaurant. The service was good, the food average, the facility noisy with over-the-top décor. The chips and salsa were very nice, someone has obtained very tasty and crisp chips. The soup was average, but okay quality as was the main dish. I am not trying to damn with faint praise, but if you want serious and very high quality Mexican cuisine there are other places in the Crofton and Annapolis area where you could go. I thought the prices very reasonable and am confused by some reviews criticizing Chevys for high prices. If you buy an alcoholic beverage you must expect a bump in the bill. It is certainly convenient for a business time lunch time crowd or when you have a large party of people for a party. Bottom line: you could do a lot worse than Chevys, but also much better. read more
