Pretty delusional i must admit. I'm fat full my feet feel light (IYKYK). I'm impressed by this house margarita i must say. Service was quick and friendly. I'm at the bar of course. The environment is pretty chill and relaxed. Not too loud at all. People are pretty much in their own worlds and enjoying themselves. It's pretty empty for a Saturday. Maybe it's the thanksgiving hangover . Id come back for the drinks if nothing else for sure. Food wasn't bad but I can honestly say that I have had better Mexican food. It's not easy to find Chevys unless you're lost, have well functioning nav or you're staying in one of the many hotels that surround the place. First impressions were less than encouraging as it could use some paint and easy maintenance efforts. Once inside it was fine but a bit dated. We received a friendly welcome and as requested, were seated at a high top hoping to catch some World Cup soccer. The chips and salsa (see photo) arrived not long after we requested them and were a bit of a surprise. The chips were fresh and not at all greasy while the green salsa had a pretty strong smokey flavor...OK with me but not well received by my friend. My Fajita Salad was a real disappointment as it was very small (even for a lunchtime portion), served in a salad bowl and at $16 was a very poor value. Flavor was fine but 3 slices of chicken didn't get the job done. Another guest mentioned the higher than expected prices and reasoned the restaurant was taking advantage of tourists and business people with expense accounts. Who knows? I don't recall ever commenting on "background" music but Guns N' Roses (and other similar genre tunes) at a very high volume did nothing to complement a Fresh Mex experience...unless I missed something and Axl Rose and Co. are natives of the Bajio region. In fact, it was a real distraction when combined with the volume especially in a restaurant operating at less than 20% capacity. Service was below average with no stop by to check on how we liked our food and a gap of easily more than 10 minutes to pick up our guest check and credit card. I understand the idea of a different than usual salsa (applause for trying to be different) but the portion sizes, lackadaisical service, screaming music and pricing make this a below average and disappointing 2 Star experience. read more

When im craving chevys i always ALWAYS get the flautas & they serve it with a sweet sauce, not sure what it is but them flautas and sauce combo is a hit for a appetizer. And the chips? Dnt get me started on the chips and salsa they give you before you eat. Salsa is pretty damn good in my opinion. And then comes the entree. I get a crab quesadilla EVERYTIME. Its huge leaves you full and enjoyable. The service was good too, they are constantly asking if you good or if u need a refill on anything like chips and salsa and a drink. Lighting is pretty dim. Not a bad place if you want a sit-down Tex Mex type place. Chevys has themed decor inside so the atmosphere is very fitting with the type of food. They have everything from fajitas, tacos, burritos, enchiladas, etc. I got the salmon bowl and it was a fair piece of salmon on a bed of veggies, rice, and beans. The pineapple salsa was a nice addition to the dish (gave it a fresh taste). Good portion and price for a fish dish. My family ordered fajitas. The shrimp tasted good and the beans did too. Didn't try the steak or chicken, but the chicken was dry according to them. Also, their guacamole need some work. Overall, I gave it 3/5 because it is a nice family restaurant and their portions are good, however, they are a bit overpriced for what you get, and there are many superior Mexican restaurants in the Twin Cities. read more

Full disclosure: I live in Austin, TX so my take on TexMex and all that is Mexican cuisine is skewed to those in MSP. My 3 may be your 6. First thoughts was this was a Chili's type of restaurant chain. I don't know and I certainly don't care. Every location stands on its own anyhow for me. I stopped in during their Happy Hour and ordered a large Margarita. I thought it was quite good. I also ordered some chips and queso - a good test of this place. Queso was also very good and didn't seem special but didn't taste like the kind from a Movie Theater either. I stayed for what seemed like an eternity and had enough Margarita's to surprise a Wisconsiner! PS - The Margs are good if I didn't say. I did order a steak Burrito to go and yes I'm rating that too as I ate it 30-45 minutes later from a hotel. It was great. Even sitting that long I felt they had the right balance of everything. I was surprised. Is it ATX good? No way. Is it a place i'd go back to in MSP next time? I don't see a reason why not. read more

I have been here quite a few times , I tried a few different items but once I had the mixed grill fajitas I could not get enough, I order it every time now . The meat is so juicy and flavorful, I do not love beans but no problem there , they happily gave me extra corn bread thing they have and it's soo good ,. Service is really great . Yo. My co-workers dish came with a sticker barcode stirred into it. They about to scan that shit. That's messed up. I arrived here for lunch with two others since it was close to our office. The hosts were really friendly and seated us quickly. I was looking for healthy options on the menu. I recall about a year ago they had calories listed for certain items. I asked the server about it, she said she didn't know, then went on and on about it being a new menu. I mentioned a couple times it was alright. Then she brought another server over and went on and on about it some more and said they never ever listed calories on anything on any of their menus EVER. Well okay, thank you for the thorough response. I settled on grilled fish tacos. When our food came my co-worker had a sticker from an avocado in her carnitas bowl. While she could have simply picked it out, who knows if there are more stickers or whatever else might be in there. A chef from the kitchen came out and apologized quickly, gave her a $10 gift card to return, and brought another plate out. He was really accommodating. She still had to wait and watch us eat though. Yep, I started eating. I was hungry...and now also rude. Our server was friendly, so I hate to complain about this stuff, but I think servers need to know when not to interrupt conversations. I felt like she checked in and talked just a little too much. If my water is empty, I'd rather it just be filled, don't stop me mid sentence each time to ask. I didn't order a beverage that I'd be charged over and over, it's water. My other issue was that my bill was screwed up. I ordered just my entree for $15.99, no beverage, no extra sauces. I received a bill for almost $25. She put one co-workers lemonade, and the other co-workers extra sour cream on my check. Hmmm...maybe she got confused because she was talking so much. By the way, extra sour cream was $1.99 for a little scoop, that shit cray. You can buy a tub for that amount. The food was actually quite good. I enjoyed the fish tacos. Everything on my plate, which came with rice and my choice of beans, tasted fresh. I especially liked the little bit of gooey corn bread they give you. It's like dessert. Overall great food and great service. My mom and I went and got the shrimp and crab quesadilla and guac for the app. Love that they make the gauc table side, it's so fresh and tasty. The shrimp and crab quesadilla was great! Love a good seafood option for quesadillas. Love coming to this place but sad to see how expensive it has gotten over covid. I believe the house made guac was $14 or $15 and they only use 1.5 avocados to make it... last I checked even if you go to a Whole Foods they're still only $1.50 at most, so not sure how that price equates, still good food, the price just doesn't match since with what your bill ends up being you could of eaten somewhere better or fancier for the price. read more

The waitress was super nice to everyone and we came in with a group of about 20 and she did very well. The ambiance in here is great. The lighting is not too bright and flashy. The pictures on the wall give the restaurant a great aesthetic feel. Really makes me want to frolick in a sunflower field if you know what I mean. The dessert here is amazing. But the most amazing thing of all was the very nice service and the very attractive waiter walking around. He gave a great feel to the restaurant and just really made me want to be here. Went here the other day after my hotel gave me a 20% off coupon for lunch at this place, first off to start, not everything on the full menu is available on weekends - only M-F which I thought was kind of strange but okay, I ordered the shrimp and crab enchiladas- disappointing as there were shrimp shells in them every other bite pretty gross. The pinto beans had a weird flavor to them and there were a couple of flies by our table in the restaurant. Let me start by saying that I am in the industry, and have been for over ten years. So when I say I KNOW good quality food and service, I really do. My husband and I went in there tonight to celebrate our 6th month anniversary. Because I've been in the industry so long I'm really picky about the quality and taste of food, as well as good service. I was a hundred percent impressed. I got the two combo flautas and hard shell beef taco and my husband got steak fajitas. The fajitas came out sizzling and a perfect mid-rare. My flautas and taco were fresh and crispy. We also got the guacamole made at the table and it was soooooo good. I also had a frozen mango marg and we each had a draft dos xx. Highly suggest going there! We sat in the bar at a cocktail table and Sam was our waiter, he was amazing! Didn't have to ask for a refill on my club soda, checked in when the food was dropped, joked with my silly husband and was always around and in eye shot if we needed him. Nice and very convenient place by the Country Inn and Suites at the Mall of America. You can walk from the hotel. The food was pretty good all around but the tacos (3 stars) stand out because they are fresh...as in you can see the tortilla pressed out in the dining room on a nifty machine. The tableside quac (4 stars) was very nice and exceptionally fresh. As to drinks...they had a 5 star taste but a 1 star alcohol content...price was reasonable but if I can drink three house margaritas and feel nothing then I know I am just drinking a nice lemonade-like drink...so 2 stars for the margaritas. This included squash, mushrooms, etc. There's an extra cost for cheese which is basically the tiniest cup of shredded cheese. This was funny to me.
