Stopped here on an overnight stay in Sioux Falls. I was greeted immediately and was seated. My waitress was very nice and offered advice in choosing tacos. I ordered the Vampiros *CHICKEN. Crispy chips and salsa brought with my drink. The salsa was fresh ands not spicy at all. Delicious! Fresh and flavorful. The sweet corn tomalito salsa was great! Will absolutely eat here again. New, lively, open and fun atmosphere with reasonable prices and good food. We were a little disappointed with the service, but we were in a bit of a rush to get back on the road and they were busy - so we probably should have stayed at the bar and ordered there rather than being seated. We started by ordering a Cucumber Jalapeno Grand Margarita (see picture) to go along with the free chips & salsa (see picture) - which tasted great. My wife ordered the Flauta (see picture) and I ordered a soft taco (see picture). As per our usual, we shared both dishes and both of us really enjoyed both of them. Based on our stop, I would highly recommend this place for both food and drinks - close to the interstate, reasonably priced and an open, fun atmosphere. The Sampler Platter was by far, THE BEST sampler platter I've had at a Mexican restaurant! The Strawberry Margarita and Regular On the Rocks Margarita was perfectly refreshing with the hint of tequila! Server/bartender Haley was on it for service. We really enjoyed our experience. Thank you so much. The Chicken Tortilla Soup and Fried Ice Cream was also top notch. I was grateful for the m accommodating my request for honey on the ice cream instead of caramel and chocolate. When we came in, we were told we would have a 20 minute wait as a large group had just arrived. Then we were offered a table in the bar. It was in direct sunlight and no shades were on the windows so I had to wear my sunglasses! The waiter was great. The chips were not the warm ones we have enjoyed in the past and the salsa was like ketchup. read more

This place has been around for years. First of all the ambience is five stars. It has a cool rustic mex feel. Our server was new to the job, but did an excellent job. He was on top of drink refills! We walked in with a party of 5 was told it would be 10 minutes. That was not a big deal- looks like the restaurant was short staffed since there were 7-8 tables in the restaurant total. New hostess and made sure to check her phone a few times before checking if the table was clean. This is one of our favorite spots when we are visiting Sioux Falls. It. This time we came early on a Tuesday so we were in time for Happy Hour appetizers and the half price margaritas. I got 2 beef tacos and my husband got 2 chicken tacos, me a house margarita and he got one of the house beers. Our dinner along with the chips and sal they give you was a great meal and very filling. Since the last time I visited, the food quality has declined. Queso was runny, salsa was not spicy. Tortillas were cold and kinda raw. The tortilla soup was watery and was not spicy. Had to add jalapeños and hot sauce. Southwest salad - lettuce was not very appetizing. I would not recommend this restaurant and will not return. It used to be much better! read more

I have been seated in the cantina area by the hostess with the implication that the service would be faster. It took my server 20 minutes to take my drink order. 35 minutes to take my food order. Stopped by Chevy's on a Tuesday evening and found out it was 1/2 price house margarita night. I liked mine, but my wife thought it could use some improvement. I had a fajita burrito and my wife had the flaunts. Both were solid. The chips and salsa were great. Solid food and drink at reasonable prices. I would eat here again. read more

So, my husband and I ordered out on the app, I believe Grubhub. The queso cheese dip we ordered was like $11.00 plus tax. It was just Velveeta . The steak fajita my husband ordered was small, and didn't come with beans and rice. My meal was okay. My chicken flauntas were burnt though. The rice is okay and beans. The pasilla beef taco was decent. And the chimichanga looked like a burrito. We won't be ordering again. Wish I took picture's. The ranch to dip your chips in is the only good thing. The salsa tastes like Sam's Club Salsa you get out of the bulk jars. Nothing special about this place. Pretty sad. read more

We've visited different Chevy''s before so this visit was a let down. Service was good and the salsa was as tasty as ever. I got a chimichanga and was disappointed that they'd covered it in sauce, ruining the crispy shell (many places do this unfortunately). The flavor wasn't terrible, but there was very little meat inside - maybe two full bites throughout. My better half got beef nachos and there was a lot of meat there, but not very flavorful. All in all, this experience won't dissuade future visits, but will definitely influence our choices. read more

We settled on a cheese quesadilla and two orders of the Farmers Market Enchiladas. The quesadilla was average...pretty hard to mess up. The rice that came with the enchiladas was dried out and tasteless. The grilled vegetables were nicely seasoned and perfectly done. The enchiladas were meh. The sign saying fresh tortillas is a lie. Those are store bought tortillas that are heated up. The queso tasted overwhelmingly like garlic (and also who puts garlic in queso???) , the beans were not fully cooked, and the rice didn't taste like Mexican rice. Last night we ordered a steak fajita, steak quesadilla, and order of chips and salsa. Picked it up and got home, no tortillas in the bag even though it was on receipt with fajitas. Only 6 slices of steak in the box and 2 of them were primarily gristle and not edible. The salsa tasted and looked way different then the usual smoked salsa. At least the quesadilla was good. We were brought to a dirty table and had to wait for the hostess to come back to wipe it down. I had to ask her to clean the booth seat because it was greasy. The floor and menus were sticky. Went to eat there last Friday night April 19 was put on a 25 minute wait. Was seated our Server Mark was absolutely amazing. Brought out our chips and salsa right away took our drink order and then we ordered. Mark did inform us right away that food from the kitchen was taking awhile and he apologized for the wait. However an hour and five minutes later we finally got our food. The server throughout the wait was attentive and kept us informed on how our ticket was doing in the kitchen. If it wasn't for the server we would have walked out and went someplace else but his attention and dedication to us and his other tables is what kept us there. If we do go back I how the kitchen can put out food a lot quicker but the service was top notch. read more

It has probably been 15 or so years since we last ate at Chevy's. My last experience then was neutral or positive. I really don't remember, but I would if it was negative. My wife and I had a gift card to use and thought we would try lunch at Chevy's today. The chips and salsa were OK. The chips were crispy, yet the paper lining the basket was soaked with grease. I asked our waitress (who was very polite) if they had any hot sauce for the salsa, and she said she would bring the spicier salsa. Neither salsa had much flavor or spice. My wife ordered Queso (Chili con Queso) off the lunch menu for $5.99. It was nearly a neon yellow/orange color and when it arrived, it had a film over the top. It was defiantly based on Velveeta Cheese, and not good quality Velveeta. The serving was smaller than the average coffee cup, and not warm enough to keep it from developing that thick skin on the top. Seemed like a lot of money for 6 ounces of Velveeta. We both ordered the Mix and Match Pick any two or three. We each choose three. I selected the pork tamale, the beef enchilada and the beef mini chimi. My wife got a chicken soft shell taco, the pork tamale and a chicken mini chimi. The tamale was ok, perhaps the best item served other than the chips. Not sure why, but neither of us finished this item. Both of our chimichangas were pretty much inedible. They poured the wonderful (not) Queso aka wood glue all over the top. Rather than having a crispy deep fried flour tortilla for the outer layer, we had a gelatinous pile of goo. My wife had two bites, I kept trying to find something I liked and left about one bite. My beef enchilada was OK. I should note that the ground beef is flavorless other than salt. Also, the red sauce was very thick and really didn't drizzle over the enchilada as one might expect. My wives chicken taco was the one item she finished other than the sweet cornbread mix. However when she first picked it up, water (or some other semi clear fluid) ran out from both sides. She didn't care for the re-fried beans or spanish rice. I thought the rice was ok with the addition of hot sauce and the salsa for the chips. The beans were marginal, and supposed to have bacon, but in one of my bites the big chunk was shredded more like pork shoulder than bacon. As mentioned earlier, the cornbread was pretty good. The waitress did stop halfway through the meal to ask how things tasted. I said OK and she sensed things weren't good. When she asked I mentioned the goo on the chimi and she offered to get me one without it. I declined. For the last half of our meal, our water glasses were empty. At the very end, the waitress started to fill mine, but my wife explained we were leaving. I also noticed the water she used to fill my glass was room temp, warm. We got our bill and the waitress offered to bring to go boxes. We said we didn't need any and she seemed surprised that we didn't want to take all of the left over food. In the end, between us, we left one whole tamale, one chimi and 1/2 of the Queso. Also, my wives re-fried beans and spanish rice. For those that know me, I hate to let food go to waste, so that should indicate the quality. With an 18% (roughly) tip, the bill was $40.00 It was a $50 gift card, so I don't know what to do with the balance. The real unfortunate thing is we have a second $50 card to use. I thought about re-gifting the card to someone, but I don't want to put them through a meal experience like this. Maybe I'll put it on FB marketplace for 1/2 off. Worst service I have had in quite sometime-worst bartender ever is Rachel. Went to get a margarita and maybe some chips while placing a takeout order. Rachel couldn't be bother to acknowledge me or take my order-she made eye contact and knew I was there, finally one of the servers placed my order, which I guess made her mad because when my order came out she left it sitting on the end of the bar and washed glasses instead. Had to go grab it myself before it got stone cold. Wasn't busy at all, she had time to stand and talk to some servers-just thought she wasn't going to get tipped for take out? I'm former bartender/server so I always tip well-I took care of the guy who took my order, but the chica Rachel-nada. Management puts up with this crap?? read more
