I had a very disappointing experience today at Sweet Dreams Bakery on Orchard Lake Road in West Bloomfield. When I walked in, I eventually said, "Hello," to get someone's attention. I understand employees may be busy, so that wasn't my concern. What bothered me was the customer service that followed. I asked for a small Berries Delight and pointed to the individual desserts on the left. Instead, the young man assisting me went to the cakes on the right and attempted to hand me a small cake. I politely stopped him and explained that I wanted the personal-sized Berries Delight on the left. He responded by saying, "Those are called slices," in a tone that came across as rude and condescending. I then asked if I could have a fresh one from the refrigerator because the one in the display case looked like it had been sitting there for a while. He insisted the display one was fine, but I repeated that I would prefer one from the refrigerator. He reluctantly got one and handed it to me, saying, "There's your fresh Berries Delight," in a sarcastic tone. I visit Sweet Dreams regularly--between this location and the previous one, I stop in about four times a month. I've always enjoyed your desserts, which is why this experience was so surprising. I've never been treated this way before. I hope this feedback is taken seriously because the quality of customer service should match the quality of your products. read more

Thank you Sweet Dreams! I'm a food photographer and stop motion artist for snack, dessert and wellness brands. It's off-season and I needed a raspberry tart to use for flavor cues for a client's launch of their new Raspberry Tart Wafer protein bar flavor. Due to a food allergy I didn't want to style the tart myself. I contacted a number of local bakeries as well as Plum Market, Whole Foods, Zingermans and more. None could accommodate my specific request. Finally, I came across sweet dreams and they were able to make me a beautiful raspberry tart to use for my images, based on the appearance, I wanted and in a timely manner. Sweet dreams is an amazing place for some go to treats. The workers are always friendly and their treats are delightful. They are so creative with the cakes and desserts. I really like this bakery and whenever I visit the Kroger nearby and drop in and pick up something sweet! The staff here are very helpful and will answer any questions you have regarding taste or allergy to the best of their knowledge. I mainly come here for their carrot cake but always end up leaving with a few more slices of something! Especially their fruit flan and lemon bars. So I have tried Sweet Dreams twice recently, aside from a few times back in the day. My opinion is that there is a nice little variety to pick from and that is enjoyable, but I don't always love the desserts. Sometimes they're just sweet and a weird flavor, but nonetheless they do just hit the spot when you have a sweet tooth. Also there is a Haagen-Daz attached in the store and cookies available, so there really is a lot to choose from! The service was good too, very attentive and friendly. This shop is located in a small strip mall plaza and has some of the best cakes and cheesecake desserts especially that I have ever tasted! The staff here is super helpful and even let me sample one cheesecake bite which I appreciated, the duet cheesecake bite is amazing! I love how they have a really good variety of cakes, cheesecakes, small bites, and they have a separate what appears to be coffee and ice cream selection with cookies too. There is a lot of seating if you want to come in and indulge and have sweet dreams literally. I loved the cheesecake duet and tried the carrot cake but it wasn't my favorite / was a bit dry. Where all of your Sweet Dreams do come true. They did 2 Wedding Cakes for my son's Wedding. A White Buttercream Bride's Cake, and a Chocolate Groom Cake with Mini Tuxedo's decorations, along with an amazing dessert table. Guest were lining up at the end for any leftovers. Although service was a little slow to begin with I'm still giving a 5 star review. While I was standing waiting to be greeted one associate was on the phone taking an order and another looked at me and continued with her tasks, not even a "welcome I will be with you in a second ". The ambiance was typical of a bakery, clean with smells of fresh baked cookies. They offer wedding cakes, personalized special occasion items, assorted baked goods and even ice cream. The associate told me only the cookies are baked on site and everything else is prepared off site and brought in. There is indoor seating should you feel the need to "dine" in. The prices are a little on the higher side but hey it 2024 what's not expensive now days. I decided on the Lemon cake for our after dinner evening dessert. I'd recommend you give these folks a try as they do have items other nearby bakeries don't. UPDATE-we didn't like the lemon cake and threw out the remaining slices. Been coming here for years for their cakes which are sooo good with too many options/choices to mention in this review. The cakes are always well baked and very tasty where we have never been disappointed over the years. They have a lot of pre made cakes and specialize in made to order and custom cakes for just about any occasion where the cakes are beautifully decorated. Aside from cakes they do make other desserts like cookies, cheese cakes and ice cream which was the purpose of our visit this day. The Ice Cream is premium Haagen Daz which is a premium brand not often found in a typical ice cream joint. My grandson had a cup of Belgium Chocolate with Sprinkles that was superb where after he finished eating it he said "grandpa best day ever!". He has had a lot of good days with many more too come but it still made me feel quite good hearing him say this in my presence and I have to give him high marks for having such a fine palate at his young and tender age..... Relative to my desert I had the Haagen Daz vanilla milkshake. Let me tell you, if you have not had a premium milk shake before you are truly missing out on one of life's great pleasures and this place makes one of the top three milk shakes in metro Detroit for my money. Let me start by saying I'm kicking myself for not coming here sooner, I moved over this way 7 years ago and I've drove by so many times. It was Wednesday and I don't get cravings for sweets like ever it's mainly my husband and I'll have a bite but I was full on needing something! I was quickly greeted by two super friendly women and my eye quickly flew to the left wall of cases packed with cakes of all sizes, treats and other pastries. It took me a bit to decide but I got key lime cheesecake, lemon cheesecake, carrot cake and a bigger lemon cheesecake. Oh don't forget the bumpy cupcake! Everything was packaged nicely and looked so pretty. The keylime cheesecake was really good, I need to get a bigger piece or whole cheesecake ha. I like how the little lemon cheesecake was coated it was the perfect balance airy bite! Idk why but I've been wanting banana bread and carrot carrot cake lately, I liked this carrot cake but it could have a slightly stronger flavor but that's just me. The bumpy cup cake is exactly what you think. The chocolate was moist and the cream was so light and everything went together perfect! I cannot wait to stop back in and get more! I've been meaning to write this review for a while now and somehow never got to it. Let me start by saying this - Sweet Dreams rocks! We were here earlier this year for my daughters birthday cake. The lady at the counter (forgot her name) helped us so much with suggestions on designs, flavors and also ideas to help keep the final cost within our budget! We were unable to decide on that visit to their store, so she gave us the website details and an office number so we can call in and place our order. I wasn't very confident how well that would work over phone but since we needed to think through some more, we said ok! When we called in the next day with our order I realized these guys mean business. They totally got what I wanted and delivered bang on! Ours was a Minnie Mouse themed dynasty flavored cake, which is a vanilla and chocolate chiffon cake with white and chocolate mousse. As one other reviewer has written, this is truly an elite bakery. The cakes are superior and just beautiful. The frosting and mousse fillings in the cakes aren't too sweet and very satisfying. I recently ordered a 1/4-sheet Christmas cake for a family Christmas party, and it was stunning. Everyone raved about it. The filling was the Dynasty flavor (half chocolate and half vanilla), and it had two different kinds of mousse inside the layers. It was decorated with white frosting, red and green trim, and delicate red poinsettia frosting flowers. Everyone at the party said that they had never seen such a beautiful cake. The other flavor worth talking about is the limited Peppermint. When you have a scoop of each, Heaven! The store offers a nice selection of confections as well. Friendly staff, too. More importantly, I think their cakes taste fantastic. We had the chocolate with choco-raspberry butter cream and vanilla with white choco raspberry cream. I was very pleased with the end result, but offer my pictures for people to judge. My only gripe was that I was told that there was a 20% coupon that was available in a magazine, but they could not give me the name of that magazine. They stress that they would not give me the discount unless I had the coupon. I ended up finding the magazine, but found the whole process to be annoying. Hands down one of my favorite bakeries around town. I told them that I wished I would've never discovered them because now that I know they're right around the corner from my house I will be doing a drive by every other day.
