Came here because I was craving some Chinese food and there aren't too many Chinese places in midtown. I was trying to eat a little healthier so I asked the waiter if it was possible to get the chow mein noodles simply boiled instead of also fried - if not that's totally okay I would simply get a different dish. There was a bit of a language barrier but he seemed to understand and said they could do it. The food took a very long time to come, well over half an hour. Unfortunately it seems like my request for the noodles wasn't interpreted correctly, as they came deep fried as normal. I know this is a risk that comes when ordering with a language barrier, but slightly unfortunate nonetheless. The chow mein was definitely heavy on the dark soy sauce and too salty for my preference. I did appreciate how generous they were with the meat and veggies though. My boyfriend got the cashew chicken and he enjoyed his dish. To note, none of the proteins come with rice and you have to order it on the side. Overall this restaurant is just okay, and doesn't really compare to the other great and affordable Chinese options in the city. However, in a pinch it works. read more

* I am a Xiao Long Bao (XLB) enthusiast. I ordered XLB only (take-out); thus my review is very limited. I have seen mixed reviews about their XLB from different review sources. Many people complained about the lack of juice and thick wrappers. So I did not have high expectations. Surprisingly, their XLBs were good. Yes, the amount of soup is small, but it's there enough to taste the deep flavor. Yes, the wrapper was thicker than those popular XLB places, but beautifully pleated and had no leak. Transfer to the container was carefully done, which I appreciated greatly. The meat texture is good, without any stringiness. It was smooth and tender and with a well-rounded flavor. If it had a little more soup, and the skin was a bit thinner, it could participate in the best XLB competition (organized by me lol ) in GTA. Yum, yum. Great if you have a party that wants different types of asian cuisine. I love that they seem to have a little bit of everything (i.e. chines, korean, japanese etc.) We ordered delivery from here and it travelled well. I love their onion pancakes - something I don't see often. Also their sesame balls, sweet and sour chicken and shanghai noodles. Would love to check out the restaurant in person too. read more

I still like this restaurant. Hubby & I came here for dinner with a couple of friends before heading downtown to a rugby game. Food was delicious as usual & not busy for dining in. I saw lots of takeout being picked up. Ada was one of our servers as usual & the owner of the restaurant also dropped by to say hello. They are so friendly here I love it. The restaurant was clean as usual in all areas, even the washroom. We had some of our favourite dishes & tried some new ones. -Citrus Fish - Similar to the lemon chicken but with fish inside. Also delicious. -Lemon Chicken - I tried a small piece & it was good. I'm not usually one for lemon chicken but the sauce on this one wasn't too syrupy. The battered chicken was lightly battered & good. -Beef Skewers - Seasoned well & cooked well. Delicious! Now my mouth is watering. -Crispy Beef - Sauce was a little lacking this time & so made it a little too dry. I think the portion looked a little smaller than on previous visits. -Coconut Shrimp - Tried this for the first time, it was sooo yummy. It's a dim sum too. Outer coating seasoned well & cooked perfectly both outside & inside. -Szechuan Peanut Dumplings - Delicious dim sum with chicken inside. The name of the dish is a little misleading. With the name you might think peanuts would be inside! Will definitely come back as this is one of our favourite restaurants. Prices are pretty good too. I'd say the prices are middle of the road for Asian restaurant. Not too cheap & not too expensive. I think the prices reflect the quality of the food. We went to Chi Dim Sum for lunch after seeing this restaurant on TV. The restaurant is located on Yonge St north of Eglinton. The restaurant is nicely decorated and the service was very friendly. We thought this was a dim sum restaurant, but it was an Asian restaurant that also serve dim sum. We ordered the Pork shui mai and the Beef balls. For my main, I ordered the curry beef lunch special. My brother ordered the shrimp in lobster sauce.The food was very good and tasty. Would we come back? Maybe as there isn't that many Chinese Asian restaurants in that area. read more

Not too shabby! I always enjoy their xiaolongbao (soup dumplings) although they may be smaller and a bit thicker/chewier than you're accustomed to. I always bite off the top and then add some (included) red wine vinegar for a nice acidic kick. The spicy crispy beef is also worth a mention. It's pretty tasty and even retains some of its crunch when ordered through uber eats. However, the pineapple fried rice with chicken and shrimp was quite bland and nothing special...though the portion was huge. Would return just for the dumplings :) read more

I really like this restaurant. I have been here quite a few times and I believed they changed their name and menu. I've tried many things and enjoyed them all. Our favourite is the peanut satay dumplings, that sauce is so good. I love that they're served on bean sprouts to add some texture. We also had the kung pao chicken which was nice a spicy. I might ask for it to be a little less spicy next time. My favourite here is still the general tao chicken. I've also had the crispy beef and chicken shumai both are delicious. I recently moved here and wanted to try all the good restaurants around the neighbourhood which brought me to Chi! I came here with 3 others and hoped to impress.. but ended up being embarrassed.. the decor was very modern and the service was very friendly and accommodating, but that's where the good ends.. we ordered a beef ho fun and pineapple rice to share. The fried rice was very bland and the overwhelming flavour was soysauce. They used very boring ingredients.. peas, carrots, corn (probably from frozen veggies mix) cashew nuts(why?), chicken pieces and pineapple.. if the addition of nuts is what they consider fusion, it was very uninspiring. Same can be said about the ho fun noodles.. bland taste and just tasted like soysauce, no dimension to the taste. The beef was from a low quality cut that was just tenderized with baking soda and did not taste fresh. When a dish's main ingredient is beef, at least make sure it tastes good right? For noodles they used the thinner pho/pad Thai noodles instead of the thick flat ones usually used for hofun.. forgivable but why? We were all kind of shocked at the taste compared to the reviews. I think this place has so much potential if more effort was put into improving their flavours, especially considering their location and prices they charge. read more

The restaraunt is clean spacious and well-decorated. The service is as it should be. The food varies. We came as a large group and had a good chance to sample as many dishes as possible. The deep fried coconut shrimp leave a lot to be desired; overdone soaked in oil and lacking flavour. The lamb skewers were a little too fatty and we're not properly seasoned. The lettuce wraps were...well I'm not sure what they were. I couldn't really make out the flavour but the texture was very dry. The mango fish and the Korean beef ribs were both adequate, though the chef might have used too much sugar in the recipe. The crispy beef was flavourful with a nice kick and the only dish I would come back for. Like many Asian fusion restaraunts, Chi has an extensive menu. There might be better options we missed so it's a hit and miss. On this night however, we had more misses than hits. read more

For our first time in this restaurant, we found the service friendly but generally inattentive. Unless flagged down we didn't see our waitstaff. Ordered an array of dim sum items: coconut shrimp, har gao, beef balls, chicken spring rolls, steamed chicken dumpling, and chicken wonton soup. The food was delivered hot and quickly, however the quality was mediocre at best. The har gao was soggy, the spring roll over cooked, the coconut shrimp over cooked as well. I would add that being sat right beside the kitchen while usually a good thing, made our whole meal wafted of burnt oil which was not appealing at all. My bf ordered a bao on ritual and we literally waited a solid 20 minutes in store before receiving it. We walked in, told them we were waiting for a ritual order and they basically said ok. Went back to serving other customers and did not even acknowledge us once to let us know the wait would be longer or what not. Bf said food was meh just ok. The food is always fresh and tasty. Usually order take-out. Tonight I dined in and had the Korean Beef Ribs and a couple of pints. The sautéed veg was a nice surprise as the photo in the menu was a chintzy salad. I wish I took a photo - it was so delish!!!! I couldn't take the time to snap the photo. A place in my neighbourhood! For many years of living at Yonge and eg. We have never had a authentic and tasty Chinese food place near by. This place is trendy, nice clean and the food is amazing! We stopped by because we were craving dumplings and this place hit the spot! The steamed dim sum was perfect - Writing this review makes me wish I was still eating the soup noodles and chicken dumplings! I went there for lunch as I was crazing dim sum. I went to their ladies room and was totally disgusted. I wonder if this restaurant has ever been cleaned. Nonetheless I sat down and ordered some dishes...there was a fly kept coming to my table. Unapologetically, I walked out. I do not want to get sick eating their food. Though I believe sharing my experience will add and notify the owners to the service expected from them: - the restaurant is clean and roomy, the waiters are nice and willing to help to identify the menu items. - larg variety of menu items, its hard for a chef to make it right due to the diversity of cuisines between Chinese, vietnamese and thi. - the prices are higher than what they are serving, it is really expensive to pay 18 $ for a pad thai. - I ordered shrimp pad thai, expecting clear flavors, with some heat, and expecting more than 3 pcs of shrimp in my plat, which was filled with rice noodles, lacking vegetables and nuts and sauce. - the service was fast on the other hand, it took them 5 minutes to prepare the dish. - I will give the restaurant another chance with different cuisine item, definitely a Chinese item to see if they have better flavors and ingredients read more

Went for lunch today (Saturday @noon). Food was good but experience horrible. Both our appetizers came at the same time and within 2 minutes of that my rice bowl arrived. Started eating and after about 10 minutes still no food for my wife. Ended up arriving 25 minutes after my meal and 3 complaints later. In the meantime they served 3 other tables their food who arrived after us. Half-hearted apology on their part. Offered a dessert which we politely declined as we had to leave. We ordered pork buns, chicken fried rice, ho fun and pork and chive dumplings. The meal was okay - not particularly good, but not bad either. The pork buns were way too bready with the ratio of bread to meat being totally unbalanced in the wrong direction. Pork buns in dim sum are my absolute favourite and this unfortunately was not comparable and for the price, definitely not worth it I would say. The beef in the ho fun was very good - tender and tasty, the noodles though were kind of bland. The chicken fried rice had good chunks of chicken but otherwise was really disappointing to me and I would not order it again. The pork and chive dumplings, however, I absolutely loved. A bit soupy inside, tender and tasty, yum. So all in all, certainly not the best Asian food I've ever had, but also certainly not the worst - kind of middle of the road - especially if you're used to having really good Asian food. read more
