On Friday, July 29, 2022, at 12:16 pm (per receipt, phone order, under Penny, Server Naidene M), I ordered lunch at the Chi Shack in Willow Brook IL. They of course once again got my order incorrect every time I go here my order is messed up. I called the store and asked for a manager, that manager was no help and just kept repeating the same thing over and over again Saying "well we didn't charge you for that we only rang up the chicken tenders" I really don't care what was charged I care that I ordered something and did not get what I wanted. Then I asked if there was a corporate number or someone above him that I could speak with even if I had to call a different number or even call back at a different time, but the guy that was supposed to be the manager said no there is not and hung up on me. Now what was wrong with the order was the beef sandwich had no cheese and very little beef, the sub had no cheese and very little meat as well nothing like the picture on the menu, and the chicken tenders had no buffalo sauce on them. For the price, this trip was definitely NOT worth it would rather have given that money to a poor person than get the food that was given to me. Every time I go here something seems to be wrong with the order, but this time we ordered three items and all three items were unsatisfactory I felt like I needed to say something. The manager was very rude and did not know how to do his job (Very unprofessional Has no customer service skills at all) I would not feel comfortable leaving my business in his hands. This was the worst visit here that I have ever had. If I could give no stars I would, never go here and waste your money because you will not get what you ordered. If you want a surprise for lunch, go ahead and take your chances. Don't say I didn't warn you! read more

Wanted to try this place out since I pass by it every now and then, and love me a good burger. Ordered a single Chi burger and fries. I immediately noticed the cook opening up a bag of frozen fries, disappointing. The food itself was pretty mediocre. The burger was pretty messy, and the patty was pretty cold. I assume the patty was frozen as well. I want to give it another shot, but there are better burgers in the area. If you claim to be "Chicago's Great Food", at least have fresh cut fries!!! read more

My boyfriend and I go here all the time for a quick and delicious burger. There food does take a while to make but its worth the wait because it's so good and it's made fresh to order. The fries are always fresh, crisp, and thick. The burgers come with the perfect proportion of ingredients so it's easy to eat and tastes so good. I even tried the chopped salad and I love how the chicken actually looks real and is chopped into bite sized pieces. They're buttermilk ranch homemade dressing is definitely caloric, but I love it. We also have of course indulged on the chocolate cake slices and shakes- all amazing. Definitely come here instead of another fast food burger chain. read more

I have been a customer here since they opened about 3 years ago. Tonight was my last visit. The good: they have an excellent beef sandwich, probably the best around. They also have something called Chi Fries on the menu which are garlic Parmesan fries. When you actually get both the garlic and the Parm, they are excellent. You don't always get both the garlic and the Parm (even though you ordered the Chi Fries) and then you just have meh fries which you didn't order. The bad: the service. It's hit or miss at best. They have always been painfully slow, especially in the drive thru. I've also not received all the items I've ordered on a couple of occasions. Tonight, though, was the worst. I ordered a beef sandwich and Chi Fries. They put the beef sandwich inside a plastic bag before putting it inside the paper bag. Great idea!! Until the cashier places the plastic bag containing the wet beef sandwich upside down inside the paper bag. Gravy and beef fell out of the poorly wrapped sandwich, through the paper bag and onto the leather seat of my car. By the time I got home, I had a greasy mess all over my passenger seat. The help there comes and goes so apparently, the problem is training or lack there of. I called and spoke with Juan, the manager and he offered a free meal the next time I'm in. CHI (as in Chicago) Shack. I drove by this place a few times and thought is was a chicken "shack". I really wanted some chicken tonight and something other than the big chain restaurants, I digress, Chishack serves up classic Chicago fare from Maxwell street polish to Italian beef sandwiches. The place was clean albeit on the small side and had pleasant decor with a definite Chicago vibe. When ordering, I had the pleasure to speak with one of the owners who was just the most delightful person. This is what small business is about! I asked a few questions about the menu based on some of the reviews I read just before stopping in. Although I am a fan of the traditional Vienna hot dog with natural casing, their dogs and sausages are their own recipe. I found that intriguing and will have to try a dog or a maxwell next time I visit. I chose to go with their italian beef sandwich. It was a fairly large sandwich and much larger than say Portillo;s and served on a softer bread. It had a great flavor that is a bit zestier than most beef sandwiches I've had. Just for sport I also ordered a hamburger which I wasn't sure I would finish but I did, so that should tell you something. It was not as big as I was expecting but it was also pleasantly tasty. They use fresh ingredients for everything they offer except for the fries. Yes, they are frozen but as the owner informed me they select the very best frozen natural cut fries that they could. They were not the best fires I've ever had but not the worst. I would rate them as slightly above average. They were nice a crisp and not too greasy. The piece de resistance was definitely the chocolate shake. As other yelpers have pointed out, it is made with ice cream and it was fantastic. Worth every penny I spent just for the shake alone. Geez yelpers, give this little independent place a break! There is a lot of chain competition in the immediate area so I give this place props for trying to break-in. So I brought my Dad here after running some errands and visiting some family friends in the area. We did not come at peak time. I think we were there around 1:30 p.m. on a Saturday. We walked in and I thought they did a nice job with redoing what was an old KFC. Nice furniture, everything was clean and we had no problem navigating to the counter. So I ordered my Dad a single cheeseburger, small reg fry and a vanilla milkshake. He loves ice cream! Food was hot and Dad loved it. He really enjoyed the milkshake. I had the red line sub and their Chi fries which have garlic and parmesan. Ya, don't judge...we don't eat like this every day and it was an alcohol free lunch to boot! I felt like this is a step up from some of the chains. The food looked more "homemade." I hope this place makes it. The employees were all super nice and especially kind to my 91 year old Dad which always warms my heart. We'll be back next time Dad and I need a "let's eat unhealthy today" fix! read more

Picked up some donuts after seeing Chi-Shack here on Yelp. First of all service was amazing and very friendly. We got an ice cream cone donut and a key lime pie donut. I only had a small bite of the ice cream donut, because my son ate it so fast people probably thought he hadn't eaten in weeks. I shared the key lime with my wife and it was awesome, honestly tasted like a key lime pie. I got a hot coffee and my wife had the iced coffee, both were good. For the most part it's just ok. The only reason I gave three stars was for the chocolate milkshake. But we'll come back to that... So I've noticed Chishack a few times as I've been out running errands but never stopped. I've never heard of it before so I wasn't sure if it was anything special. So today I decided to give it a go. I ordered a jumbo dog, cheese fries, and a chocolate shake (). I ordered it to go to bring home to eat (mind you that I live less than 5 minutes away). By the time I got home to dig in the hot dog was cold. And there was waaay too much relish on there that made the bun all soggy. All I was able to try was a couple bites before I had enough... But at least the fries were good? They're still skin on, which I love, and not too salty, which is another bonus. And for a small you get a lot of fries! Now for the best part... dun dun dunnnnn... the chocolate shake. Seriously. So damn good. It didn't taste like it came out of a bag (cough, cough, mcd's, cough, cough), rather that actually chocolate and ice cream were used. Now I really have no idea how the shake is actually made, but this one is awesome! So, all in all... I'd obviously go back for another shake... but I'm not sure that I'm sold on much else there... Amazing service and great food! Went in for lunch today and the staff was super friendly and nice. My order was ready really quickly and was accurate. All the food was amazing. I got the jumbo Chicago dog with everything on it, chi fries, and a chocolate shake and those were probably some of the best fries I've ever had. My husband had the onion rings and Chicago bacon burger and loved them. I stole a couple onion rings and they were amazing as well! Still give this place a 10; I'd add extra stars if I could. My husband and I frequent this establishment; have tried several items on the menu and have never been disappointed. I love that they have started a 'daily special' menu item. And as I stated in my prior review, you may wait a little longer, but it's definitely worth the wait! Today, I witnessed EXCELLENT customer service by the female manager (I wish I knew her name - she is AWESOME!!) A woman was upset that her demands on ringing up her multiple orders were not done to her liking. The manager stepped in and made everything right and then some. Working out the kinks in new operation such as cake and shake came out long before meals when we dined in. Burger was well presented in slightly undersized bun. I would swear Italian beef was Vienna Italian beef not secret recipe. Giardinera definitely tasted like Vienna company recipe. read more

We have order for breakfast and dinner, we tried a large variety of donuts all amazing and very fresh. For lunch the family ordered a few items and shared since this restaurant is new. Burger, hot dog, Italian beef, onion rings, fries, shakes. All of it was well worth the price which was surprisingly less then you would think. I tried the turkey burger special. If you're looking for a greasy burger, that reminds you of eating a regular burger, this is it. I love turkey burgers and do not mind the "healthy" ones at all, but every now and then I want grease and the need to use a napkin as I'm eating. The Chi Sauce is great and adds, even more, flavor to the burger. I also had the Chi Fries with parmesan and garlic. I went to this place because of the reviews. I am very sorry that I did. I ordered the chi-fries (someone said that these fries were outstanding) and the bacon burger. It was, by far the worst hamburger I have ever had. It was mushy(overly sauced) and some meat was raw( I ordered well done) The bun was squishy and non existent. Lord have Mercy, it was the worst. It will take a long time for me to have a "hamburger"craving after this absolute disaster. The chi-fries were not much better. The supposedly Parmesan- garlic additive was fit to be sold as an industrial compound. Pure chemical and swept from the factory floor. No taste, But a gag! I literally threw the entire batch of fries away. GOOD RIDDANCE. I actually wish I could give this restaurant a minus 5 star rating,because a lovely afternoon was completely destroyed by the injustice of the food!! Saw this shop was recently opened, so living in Chicago for over 40 years, I think I have the grist to critic a place that touts Chicago style food. My first visit today was just to test the staple - a beef (hot, wet), with fries and a drink. If Chishack can't pass this test, I'll pass on them. Well, I give the beef a B-Plus - I ordered it wet, which is usually just a ladle over, not a dip, but they dipped it, which makes the sandwich messier that I want for a work-day lunch. Looking past that, it was a good beef sandwich. better than any I've had at the place Dick sold out on recently. The beef had a good, savory and herbed flavor and it was cooked properly with no fat to be seen and a chewy, fall apart texture. The bread is very good, nice and chewy too, and ample thickness to soak up the au jus. The giardiniera was regular old jarred stuff, nothing special so nothing to screw up. The negative for me is the fries. Now, I know everyone's tastes in fries are different, so most places are going to satisfy some and turn off others. WIth that said, I don't think many will be satisfied with Chishack fries. I ordered the regular fries, no seasoning or cheese, and they reminded me of Burger King's original fries. Very crispy, almost of a texture like they are coated with some kind of starch, but nothing visible. Its funny. I read in another reviewer who said the fries were soggy and limp, which mine were not at all. Well, the beef was good enough that I will return to try the chicken tenders, which they self-promote as the best. Maybe they should rename them Trump-tenders. I also think I'll give their burger a try, but I'll pass on the fries. As for the shop itself, the staff was helpful, wait was reasonable, one of the counter-servers was having her lunch break in-shop, so that gave me some confidence the food is otherwise good, and the seating was tight but nice atmosphere. Grades: Seating: B; Food (Beef only) - B+, fries - C-Minus; Value - C (almost $11 for beef, fries and a medium drink). Just ordered a small hamburger with no onions medium well. The burger had onions on it and it took at least 10 minutes for 1 burger. Burgers are always sloppy there especially if you want cooked onions. Most of their food is wet and sloppy. For instance, I ordered an Italian beef extra dry and fries without salt. I opened the bag and the beef was dripping and the bun was totally soaked and the fries had salt. The other 5 times I ordered a beef extra dry and they were all dripping wet. Can't order another. The subs are wet also. The food is good and high quality ingredients but most of the time it does not represent how you ordered it. It's right by my house so I have ordered there about 25 times. Quality control is needed here big time. The employees are nice. Prices are reasonable. read more

We tried this place for the first time. Was very good. Love the Chi-fires (parmesan-garlic)!! My husband had the lent special Crabcake burger - he really liked it. I had the chicken tenders with buffalo sauce - also good. May ask them next time not to be so generous with the buffalo sauce :-) Definitely will be back...want to try the apple pie!
