Absolute fire. Simple thai dishes in a no frills spot. Fast, casual, the perfect little neighborhood nook for a quiet date night. The menu is simple as to not overwhelm the spicy basil chicken is amazing. A bit of sweet with a lot of savory. I got spice level 5(their highest) and it really wasn't too hot. It did offer a nice tingle on the lips but no real heat on the tongue. I wanna sweat! Lol Workers were super polite, attentive, and efficient. It seems one of the chefs runs the food. They present it with grace, and gratitude. It is really nice to witness and observe. Almost like the food is being given a level of respect as well. Can't wait to get back!

Maybe I chose the wrong dish, but at least the shrimp pad thai was bad. I would generally say things aren't good, but here bad is very much warranted. The shrimp come tail on, which is fine, but one of them had sand in it, I'm not sure from what, but they definitely were not thoroughly cleaned. The flavor was flat and yet the Pad Thai was overly saucy. I saw people saying this restaurant it is authentic, speaking highly of the food, but they must be comparing it to other Thai-American spots because I just don't see it at least from the Pad Thai. Pad Thai should ideally have subtle cooked down flavors of tamarind and fish sauce, some complex sweetness from palm sugar, and subtle dried shrimp flavor as well. But here the flavor just was bland and uninteresting. Some redeeming qualities are that they had some dried shrimp on top, which is very rare in the US even in larger cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Seattle; the rice noodles themselves were cooked well (not over or undercooked); the bean sprouts looked fresh and clean; and the peanuts, chili powder, and lime coming separately was appreciated. I am do not believe in basing ratings on service and generally don't comment on service, but it wasn't great. Was told to sit wherever and then had to go up to place my order and it seemed like I was forgotten. Then asked for some chopsticks when my food came and the server said ok, then immediately went to the kitchen and then completely forgot and never ended up giving me any chopsticks. Then at the end had to go back up to pay.

Thai food is one of my favorite cuisines to ever exist. Give me some Thai, Indian, any other Asian cuisine any-day over most other cuisines. So, when we were craving dinner, I checked for Thai restaurants in the area. Chiang Mai popped up as less than 5 miles away, so I placed a takeout order. I didn't eat inside, but Chiang Mai is spacious and clean, and located in a desirable (but busy) area of Webster Groves. The service was friendly and they had my order hot and ready within 15 minutes. So, I was pretty excited to dig in when I got home. This is where the dilemma starts. We ordered Drunken Noodles and Pad See Ew, and both had an extremely authentic flavor, like Thai food should taste like. However, the dishes were 90% noodles. They were really lacking in vegetables and protein! If they doubled the portion sizes and added more protein/veggies-- this place would be a 5 star experience! Unfortunately, we were still hungry after spending almost $50!

Nice quick lunch spot. (I've never been at dinner time.). Service is fast and friendly. Dining room is small (maybe 8-10 tables?). Recommend the green curry, masaman curry, and pad Thai.

This was our first time going to this place. The Services were slow. I think our server was new. It took her 15 minutes to bring us our water after we sit down. The other server did help her out afterwards by removing our empty plates etc. The food was different to me. We got the Nua sawaan, drunken noodle, and green curry entree. The food was okay to me. I was kind of disappointed since I really thought this place would be authentic. So I gave this place the benefit of a doubt since I am not sure if this was just an off day. The drunken noodle is not as flavorful as other Thai place I had. It has some spice and lots of star anise but missing other essential flavors that I like. The green curry was not bad, however I had better green curry. The appetizer was decent , remind me of A specific Beef jerky flavor I had. Parking can be challenging at times if come during busy time if the day.

Came back and everything is still amazing. Chiang Mai never misses!!! Also guys GET THE NUA SAWAAN!! It's one of the appetizers / shareable small plates - "marinated flash fried coriander beef strips, sea salt, palm sugar"). It was the best beef I've ever tasted in my life. Crispy, but not burnt--perfectly flavorful, amazing texture, comes with an incredible tangy but slightly sweet sauce. Just wow. Also I got the Khao soi again---also still delicious. I LOVE CHIANG MAI SO MUCH!! Portions are great and the skill level of their chef is out of this world. Food also came out fast and the interior is super cute with air conditioning lol

Very bland chicken wings. Crispy but bland as heck.

I'm guessing the good reviews here are from people that have never been to Thailand. The food is awful. I literally had a few bites and I'm done. No interest in finishing this. Not even worthy of being the Panda Express of Thai food. It's the most disappointing Thai food I've eaten.

My new favorite Thai restaurant in St. Louis. Starters were actually delectable. First time trying Thai sausage and while the flavor was good, it was a bit dryer than I expected. The khao soi was also solid, but I've definitely had better elsewhere. The star of the show was hands-down the gaeng hung lay. Sweet, savory, rich, and good depth of flavor -- This dish is a must-try. An excellent and memorable meal all around. I will definitely be returning. Favorite dishes: Thai iced tea, som tum, gaeng hung lay

This was our first stop during our first time in St. Louis and we were craving Thai food. This is a quaint little spot in Webster Groves (a cool street with so many great restaurants, boutiques, and coffee shops). We ordered the Laarb Koi, Nam Ngiaw, and the Pork Red Curry and everything was very delicious! Our favorite dish was definitely the Nam Ngiaw which is a regional northern Thai dish. The broth was super flavorful and it was the perfect balance of spicy and savory. I think the service and hospitality could have been better. It wasn't as warm as we have experienced here in the Midwest. But overall; the food was delicious and we would come back for it! Check them out if you're in the area.

The ambiance is like a bistro. Clean and simple

Chiang Mai is a cozy Thai restaurant in downtown Webster! It was the perfect cold day, pick-me-up meal! We had the Khao Soi (delicious broth, tender fall off the bone chicken drumsticks, yummy noodles, great spices!) and the Drunken Noodles with chicken (the string beans were crunchy and fresh, noodles and chicken were drenched in the most delicious sauce). We got both entrees at a 4/5 spice level - it was perfect! Not overly spicy but very manageable! There isn't a TON of room for seating but we were able to be seated quickly without an issue! We saw lots of takeout orders going out! So good - can't wait to try more things next time, would recommend both dishes!!

This is one of the best Thai restaurants that I had. The flavors are very complex and delicious. Service was fast. We parked in a nearby strip mall and walked over. Decoration was very simple.

    Rice and Nam Ngiaw

Ordered through UberEats tonight and was really excited. Then it came and I was let down. Portion size of entrees is tiny with even smaller portions of rice/noodles. And if it was just this, I wouldn't leave a bad review. But then I found a HAIR in my nam ngiaw I usually give places second chances but not when it comes to food safety. Will not be coming again

They had 2 wait staff working when we went and both greeted us immediately and seated us inside. Their air conditioning was broken and awaiting repair and they had signs throughout explaining that. It was still cooler inside than out so we sat inside. I was curious what a butterfly lemonade was so I ordered one. It was good and quite refreshing with traditional lemonade at the bottom topped with a vibrant deep purple concoction on top. After I educated myself, I found that the deep purple concoction is steeped tea made from butterfly pea flowers. We started with some egg rolls - fried with ground pork and vegetables and served with sweet and sour sauce. The sauce was great! I normally pass as most of them have a cloyingly sweet flavor that I don't like but theirs had a really good balance of flavors amd not too sweet. The egg rolls were flavorful enough to stand on their own though and yes, delivered piping hot to the table. I had the drunken noodles with beef at medium spicy level. At first bite, I was immediately able to taste the spicy level I chose. A great sign. Then I sniffed and started sweating. Another great sign of good spice level. My husband ordered the yellow curry with tofu and medium spice level as well. At first he said it could be hotter but then midway through he decided it was more of a build up and thought the level was actually perfect. Serving size was great. You can definitely get another meal out of an order! We took the rest of our food home. I cannot wait to eat my leftovers today. What a great spot for a delicious, quick dinner!

I get that this is a Thai restaurant, not Chinese (though it's more Chinese than I am), but Meyou might consider such a policy. I would have benefited from it yesterday. I visited on a Wednesday evening with members of a running group. There were umpteen of us. If we'd been given a single egg roll appetizer, we would have been forced to cut it in tiny pieces and share. I would have been willing to do that, because I'm a confirmed, avowed savage. My reputation precedes me. Arguably, they should give you one free appetizer for every six members of your party. But I digress. Now, where was I? Ah yes, Meyou. I'd describe this place as a somewhat Americanized version of Thai food, based on what little I know from having recently visited Bangkok and eaten in roughly 40 or 50 restaurants, food stalls and what have you over the course of a few days, i.e. not a whole lot. You can get pad thai and various other soups, noodles and curries, along with fried rice, egg rolls, crab rangoon and chicken wings. It's got a little something for everyone. Do they charge you $0.25 for extra soy sauce? Can you call up and try to harangue them into giving you a free order of crab rangoon by claiming that they shorted you the last time you were there, knowing good and well they can count better than you? I'm not sure. I might try that on my next visit and report back. This time, I went with something called Pad See Ew, which wasn't nearly as gross as its name suggests. In fact, it was good. Its description on the menu, with broccoli, eggs and soy sauce, called to mind various things I might order from a Chinese takeout--which is what I tend to look for in a menu item. As a noodle dish, I figured the overall flavor profile might not be different from a lo mein lunch special I used to get decades ago, that I still fondly reminisce about on a weekly basis. I wasn't that far off from the mark. They let you choose the spice level, ranging from mild to hot. I usually get hot in most places, but I'm hesitant to do that at Asian restaurants, because they might have access to peppers that are technically considered research chemicals, like Temu Ozempic, and therefore not subject to FDA approval. There were a few girls there, and I didn't want to run the risk of my throat starting to close up. I'd have to find a new run group. Medium turned out to be just right for me, but maybe too spicy if you're expecting something along the lines of a buffalo wing. Even the mild, apparently, has a bit of a kick to it. The noodles were nice and slippery and cooked a touch beyond al dente, right in that Goldilocks zone between undercooked and mush. The heat, and the complexity provided by whatever they use to season this, helped offset the underlying sweetness. You get your choice of meat. No Diddy. I went with pork, natch, with apologies to the Honorable Minister. The amount they give you is surprisingly generous, except that this dish will run you. I'm talking modern-day Chipotle prices. Maybe a dollar or two more. Yikes! But I'd argue that the quality justifies it. If I lived nearby, and I had the means, I'd stop by on occasion.

Parking was easily accessible on adjacent lots or on the street. The inside of the restaurant is modern and clean. It is an open concept, so you can see a portion of the kitchen from the seats. My party of 5 was seated immediately by a hostess who gave me the vibe that she neither loved or hated her job...she was just sort of there. It took 18 minutes for a server to show up at our table...By this time, I could have recited their menu! The party of 6 beside us finished their food, got their to go boxes, paid their tab, & chit chatted before we were even acknowledged. We were not the only ones who noticed that our party was being ignored/ overlooked because a lady in the party next to us (the party who had already paid) leaned over to me and said, I promise the food is worth the wait. Hence we stayed... When the waiter brought our water, we went on and ordered our appetizers. We asked if he would go on and take our entree orders. My son ordered pad Thai, one daughter drunken noodles, the other daughter fried rice, my husband and I fried rice and drunken noodles... The waiter then told us, we don't have drunken noodles, the noodles did not come in on the delivery order (I get it, not your fault), but we were confused because nothing was said about those dishes not being available when we sat down as well as when my daughter ordered drunken noodles (which come to find out he had written that part of the order down wrong)... My husband asked if they could just substitute a different type of noodles from one of the other noodle dishes into the drunken noodles, and the waiter said that the noodles in the drunken noodles were large and flat. My husband reiterated to the server that we knew that and asked the question again. The server gave the same response. I am not sure if his intent was to be condescending or if his comprehension was that poor, but with service like that, I have little faith in the quality of the food... By this time, things were beyond frustrating, so we got up and left. We ended up at Sen Thai and had a great meal.
