Best and most well operated hot pot restaurant in Houston. Hands down. These folks are meticulous about cleanliness, variety, and presentation. I love the detail they put into the dining room layout (great tables for any size party) and the hot pot bar. My waitress was very attentive and respectful in addition to being knowledgeable of the menu and offering suggestions for broth. I had the spicy seafood broth as well as the waygu meat. As you can see, I had a ball with mix-in veggies and OH THE SAUCES! Their selection of sauces--especially the peanut sauce--AMAZING. The bathrooms are clean and energy efficient. Wonderful first visit!

Food: 4.5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Overall: 4.6/5 Definitely a very nice experience, so let me get the only big issue I have with this restaurant. Some of their broths land on the EXTREMELY bland side. HOWEVER, they do offer up free soup broth changes as well as their extremely vast sauce bars which can fix up most of the broths. Time for the praise. This restaurant has an insanely immense and impressive amounts of options. There's obviously the staples, but also a lot of the sides and dessert section, which is often not offered at the other places. My only other issue with this place, though it is more minor, is that the additions that you can add to your shaved ice are almost all insanely artificial, but keep it simple and you'll enjoy your shaved ice a lot more. As for their meats, all of them stayed pretty consistent and I absolutely adore the amount of beef options that they offer since it is my favorite kind of meat to get. The duck broth I got, while not for everything, was extremely comforting and homely for me, adding a very unexpected flavor to my meal. I really enjoyed all the options that were here. Lastly, service was all really nice and welcoming. The interior kind of has that cleaning spray smell that might throw people off, but other than that the ambiance was great and very nicely modern. This place, overall, is a great addition to Houston Chinatown and is definitely worth trying out.

I have been excited to try Shabu En and all you can eat hot pot for a while and finally got a chance to stop by on a Saturday evening, without a reservation which was not very smart of me. If you plan ahead, you can make a reservation on their website, but for this particular Saturday night I had to wait about an hour. Luckily it is located in the Diho Square Plaza with other places to walk around and check out while you wait. Specifically, I passed the time by getting some groceries at Welcome Food Center then Miniso. As it is located in the busy Plaza, there is a large parking lot shared amongst the businesses, but this complex gets pretty busy so parking still may be difficult. Also, their lobby generously offers free shrimp crackers and water for those waiting. Eventually my party of 2 was seated, and we opted for the normal adult dinner price of only $34 all you can eat. They also offer a 10% discount to seniors, military, and first responders with valid ID. Therefore pricing structure is outlined on my menu picture I updated. My partner initially opted for the Shabu En signature broth (a delicate yet robust umami flavor, adding depth and authenticity with it subtle smoking is indistinct savory notes) which we thought was actually pretty bland so he switched to Tom yum broth for free. I opted for my usual Sukiyaki broth (sweet and savory soy-based broth, a popular choice for beginners) was probably rendition of this broth I've ever had. It was the perfect mix sweet and savory!!! We opted for the meat choices 7 through 10 - ribeye, certified Angus beef top blade, certified Angus beef Short rib, American wagyu chuck eye roll. Also we took advantage of the abundant sauce and sides bar - self-serve, all you can eat, located in the middle of the restaurant. Absolutely love this restaurant, not only for its affordable price but also its meat choices, side choices, sauce choices. 1 could argue that offering so many sides and desserts and free choices of tea is a bit gimmicky and supposed to fill you up cheaply, but I genuinely appreciate all of the choices especially given its price. Highly recommend this restaurant to anybody visiting Houston who enjoys hot pot.

Another great AYCE hot pot spot in Bellaire! What I like most about Shabu En is their broth system. You can switch to a different broth if you're not satisfied with your first choice, and you can even mix broths. I ordered both the Mala Sichuan broth and the Spicy Tonkotsu broth, and I was very happy with how they turned out! The buffet area is very clean, and the staff does a great job of actively restocking the ingredients. Their meats are thinly sliced and high quality. If you like fattier cuts, I recommend #2, #8, #9, and #10. I love that they have a self-serve snow ice station for dessert. It's a sweet and refreshing way to end the meal. They also have Vietnamese coffee, but the dispenser wasn't working very well when I was there. I'd love to try it next time!

came to shabu en for saturday lunch n' we got seated right away (no rsvp bc the place is very spacious, i'd recommend to rsvp tho, but fyi they don't take reservations same day) we love that we can change broth midway we ordered tomyum, shiitake mushroom, sondubu and tonkotsu (best imo, creamy) weekend lunch is $34 pp you can order every cuts on the menu! my favorite was American Wagyu Round (very lean, no fat at all 100/10) the buffet station was very clean staff kept restocking evrything while we were there we were impressed that there were crabs, oysters, scallops, snails etc. decent seafood options! there were kimchi and salads as sides n' the shaving ice + Che ba mau station gotta say Shabu en is the top 1 hotpot place in Houston, the decors and layout makes me feel like Japan. they gave us little yagkwas (korean honey cookie) when we were done. Will definitely come back!

    1. Service - our waiter was friendly and very attentive. I was surprisingly impressed. As you walk in, you're greeted by the team of hosts. At the table, order your broth and meat before going to the buffet table. Keep in mind that most everything at the buffet is raw (veggies and seafood) except for dessert, drinks, and the sauce station. Pay at the table when finish. 2. Price - as of May 2026, All you can eat adult prices are $24 for lunch, and $34 for dinner. 3. Ambiance - contemporary, white marble, shiny chandeliers, and plenty of booth seatings. This place looks classy. You'll be amazed as to how big the interior is. Dress code here is casual. 4. Food - pretty straight forward hotpot place. I like their SHIITAKE MUSHROOM Broth. I would say that would be a basic Chinese hotpot broth to try if this is your first time. I don't recommend the SUKIYAKI broth. The menu says that this is a popular broth for beginners. But you're basically cooking in sweet soy sauce. 5. Cleanliness - dining area was clean, buffet table would do better if they have an extra person manning the table. Tongs were sticky and food droppings on the table. The restrooms were humid and smelly. Something they can easily work on with a little more focus to cleanliness.

We've been here many times and still like this place Food and service were good. The place is cleaned. Have many choices of seafood if you don't want only beef.

Signature broth. Side dishes were also very tasty

Shabu En always delivers! As usual, meats and sides were super fresh. And oysters were exceptionally fresh today. Our server, Jeanie, was very friendly and attentive!!

We came to Shabu En for a friend's birthday and were not disappointed. This place has a lot of options for meat, veggies, and sauces and is all you can eat which is nice. Each person gets their own individual pot which is nice. Lunch is $23.99 and dinner is $33.99. Parking: Shabu En is in a big strip mall in Chinatown and has a large parking lot in front of the restaurant with free parking. Parking is easy to find. Ambiance: the restaurant is very modern and clean inside. The buffet line is well kept with items refilled constantly. All of the tables are sizable so you can fill up on all you can eat. Service: the servers here are very attentive and our plates were cleaned quickly. They have a tablet system that the waiter/waitresses use to place your orders. The meat came out quickly and our pots were refilled with broth constantly. Food: most of the items besides the meat are on the buffet. The buffet had veggies, dumplings, seafood, and dessert. They have 9 flavored broths to choose from and I went with the Signature broth which had a rich umami flavor. You are also able to switch broths which is nice if you don't like the first one you choose. Our favorite meats were the ribeye, short rib, and Wagyu round. The ribeye was fatty and marbled well and the short rib and Wagyu round had a lot of flavor. The brisket was a little tough and the other meats were a little lower quality as they became very tough after cooking for a short amount of time. The veggie and seafood selection was robust and had anything you could imagine. I enjoyed the shrimp and frozen dumplings. The shrimp were large and the dumplings soaked up a lot of broth flavor. One of my favorite things to do with hot pot is to drop potatoes into the broth and let them soak for a while. After a long time, they become soft and soak up so much of the broth flavor. They have a dessert bar with snow ice, coffee and cheesecake cones. Nice selection for dessert but I wish they had soft server or ice cream like some other shabu spots in town do. Overall, I would recommend Shabu En for its clean and modern interior, its large variety of food, and the excellent service.

AYCE Shabu restaurant with individual pots. Good: - Clean interior. - Individual pots. - assortment of veggies and seafood. - fast at taking empty plates away. - Good sauce selection. Bad: - Meat quality is not the best. I expect some cuts of beef to be fatty but most of the meat is lower grade quality. It's normal for the soup base to accumulate fat, but this was on another level and that's because of the quality of meat. - Veggie quality is not the best. In my opinion, this is restaurant is not a Japanese style hotpot; it's more like a Chinese style hotpot. - Service can be improved. If you act like you don't want to work, customers can sense that. Also, servers should know the menu. I asked our server what the leanest cut of meat is and he said Rib Eye (wrong). - Parking is tough. Overall: I'm not sure what the hype is about this place. I've been to better Shabu places.

This may become a new fav hot pot spot on rotation for me. I'm a big fan of individual hot pots where you can pick your own broth (or switch it up). Their menu has a solid selection and you can order a wide variety of meats to the table. On weekends it's dinner pricing all day, but you also get better cuts, like Top Blade or Ribeye.. One of my friends was a hot pot pro and suggested combining two broths! So I went in with the Duck + Shabu combo and it turned out pretty good. Pro tip: ask for a ladle, just makes grabbing stuff from your pot way easier. The vibe is modern with music playing, and it definitely gets busy during lunch. The sauce bar is well stocked, and the buffet has a nice mix of veggies and seafood. (I especially liked the noodle and mushroom options.) Each table has its own temperature control which was cool. The shaved ice for dessert is a must.. Loved the texture and I went a little wild with the gummy bears and jelly toppings. (Just means extra gym time later... or honestly, don't even think about calories if you're coming here) They also have a good selection of mocktails and cocktails, and happy hour. I tried a highball on special and it was pretty solid. Definitely worth checking out overall, the pricing was on par with competition around town. With a coke + tax and 20% tip, we're looking about $50 per person for dinner.

Overall solid ayce hot pot! Lots of good meat options a service was pretty fast- lots of folks checked in on us. We tried a variety of broths- the original is really fishy tasting as an fyi, for those who don't love seafood But I did like the sukiyaki which was really sweet and the tonkatsu. The duck almost had a pho taste which was pretty good too. A cool thing about this spot is that they have all you can drink Vietnamese coffee! For dinner maybe not ideal but for lunch this is super neat! I do wish that the place was it more clean and that there was more than one condiment bar as we had to wait often to get sauces. However overall had a good time! I think it's well worth the price and for cold weather it's perfect!

Here is the breakdown of why this spot is a must-visit: The Meat & Seafood * Japanese A5 Wagyu: The star of the show. The marbling is incredible, and it literally melts the moment it hits your tongue.  * Australian & American Wagyu: Even the "lower" tier meats here are exceptional. The ribeye and brisket were fresh, tender, and flavorful.  * Premium Seafood: The Diamond set includes a fresh seafood platter featuring succulent lobster (Boston and Norway), sweet shrimp, and sashimi-grade salmon that was incredibly fresh.  Signature Sides & Appetizers The Diamond set isn't just about the pot; the appetizers are high-end restaurant quality: * Wagyu Bone Marrow: Rich, creamy, and decadent--a rare find for an AYCE spot.  * Foie Gras Toast & Wagyu Nigiri: These elevated starters set the tone for a luxury meal. * Truffle Wagyu Beef Don: If you have any room left, this bowl is packed with umami. I chose the curry topping, and although it paired well with the pork and omurice, I found the complete bite lacking a bit of punch. So the dish itself was 4/5 for me. Maybe the sweet glaze would have helped bring the mouthful together - I'll try that next time! We also tried the purple yam fries (4/5) and they were nice and crispy. This place was pretty packed when we showed up on a Sunday evening around 7 pm. We ended up sitting at the bar, which had call buttons for service, ordering, check, etc. Overall service was good but the call button for the check didn't seem to work. Pressed it like 3 times in 10 min and no one seemed to get an alert so we just flagged someone down. The inside is pretty neat, with an upstairs and downstairs (as well as a bar area). They did a really good job maximizing their space. Definitely worth trying if you haven't had omurice before.

The ambiance is pretty cool with honey comb stacked seating along the wall. I would love to sit there one day. But only parties of two can sit there. 4. Food - I've ordered the KYUSHU SPICY TONKOTSU RAMEN. Sad to say, but my bowl of noodles was pretty salty. 5. Cleanliness - We sat in a room for 4 people. It was hot and stuffy, only to realize that the A/C vents (on the wall) were shut. So we've opened the vents, and finally a nice breeze, but only to find out why it was shut in the first place. Smells from the restrooms were coming out of the vent. We were all pretty disgusted at this point.

The food is always fresh, the quality is consistently amazing, and the atmosphere is quiet and peaceful. It truly feels like one of those hidden gems that mostly locals know about. This place was honestly one of my go-to spots back when I was in college and broke because the value here is incredible. I ordered the steak and rice plate for under $20, and on top of that, you get unlimited miso soup and red bean dessert for free. Yes, unlimited. You can keep going back to the soup station as much as you want. The steak was cooked perfectly, the miso soup was comforting, and the red bean dessert was such a nice way to end the meal. The staff is also incredibly friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. I've been gatekeeping this place for the longest time because it's genuinely one of my favorite restaurants in Bellaire, but they absolutely deserve the recognition. Highly recommend Hokkaido if you want delicious food, great portions, and amazing value.

Lots of seating inside and was pretty clean. Staff was friendly and food came out quick. Loved the ordering system where you just grab a paper and choose. We ordered Salmon Sashimi, Dragon Roll, and the California Roll. Dragon Roll: My personal favorite! The sauce drizzled on top was delicious. Would order this again. I'd give this a 10/10! California Roll: Just like any basic sushi out there, it was filling and great! 8/10. Salmon Sashimi: I personally don't eat fish like that but the chunks are massive and thick. My boyfriend enjoyed it. Wasn't a fan of it tho.
