Great value for comfort Filipino food that feels like a warm hug! Came here for brunch on Saturday and waited 10-15min to get seated. Service was quick, we were hungry so they took our order as soon as we got seated. We got the Chicken Tocino, Combo Sisig , Longanisa, and of course a bowl of Garlic Rice. Everything was a la carte and had generous portions. My favorite was the Tocino since the BBQ was the perfect amount of charred to juicy ratio even on the crispy ends!! The garlic rice bowl was enough and then some to feed 4 hungry people. I saw they had a lot of takeout orders, think multiple party trays of lumpia and Postmates but the servers were still very attentive. They would promptly refill our water cups as soon as we ran out, even if it was just one out of the group. They accept cash/card. Solid Filipino food in South San Francisco! We had a lechon kawali silog first. Two fried eggs, a big cup of garlic rice, and lots of deep fried, crispy pork belly. The eggs were fried pretty hard, but the garlic rice had a lot of flavor. The default is a thick, liver-based sweet brown sauce. I asked instead for their vinegar, and it was delicious with onions and jalapenos. We also had the pancit miki bihon with a mix of thin and thick noodles. I added a bit of lemon and fish sauce to finish it, and it was great! I forgot the leftovers in the car overnight, and I was crushed that I had to throw them away. I was a bit surprised at the cost, but food seems to be expensive everywhere lately. Service was solid. But, it was really hot inside. Not a great location for a warm day. Prices per dish are a little expensive but it seems like most Filipino restaurants charge a hefty price for their food... it's just a thing. That said, their dishes are delicious! We ordered the squash and green beans, garlic rice, veg puncit, lumpia, bistec, and 50/50 sisig. The sisig with the puncit was 100% everything you want in a bite of Filipino food. The bistec was sooo good everyone enjoyed that. We also ordered pork adobo-- mixed reviews. One thought it was ok, one didn't like it bc it didn't taste like adobo to her and one liked it. The sauce was too vinegary but then it was also thick and dark colored... also ordered a mango milkshake--a must if you want to top off the meal with a delicious light and sweet drink to make your tastebuds so happy. It's Filipino food, happiness is part of the experience! Very polite wait staff as well. The restaurant was a little warm and could have benefited from ac set to 68/70 degrees. I came in for lunch with a friend and it was busy on a Sunday. The restaurant isn't that big, probably about 10 tables or so. So big parties definitely will have to wait. The parking situation could be a little rough considering it's a small plaza with other restaurants around. As we waited for our table, it was very apparent that almost all the cars that were parked were mainly waiting for this place. Well let's just say, the wait was worth it! The food was so good and authentic. We ordered a cup of garlic rice ($5), Bangus Sisig ($26.25), and the pancit palabok ($18.25). The garlic rice was SOOOO DELICIOUS. Omg I'm reimagining eating it as I write this review. The cup was actually huge, so good thing we didn't get a bowl. It's definitely enough for 2-3 people. The bangus sisig is this fried fish that they then de-bone, stir fry the fish again with sauce and flavors. I've never had anything like this before, mainly go for the standard pork sisig. I was so surprised by this fish, it came on a steaming hot plate and just FYI it definitely makes your clothes smell afterwards- a tad salty for preference but a ton of flavor. The pancit was so good! Very different than the dried pancit that we are all used to having. It's like how Chinese places have dry fried beef noodle vs wet. But the Filipino version. We are so happy this place survived the pandemic. The quality of the food is just as we remembered. We ordered the Laing, Chicharon Bulaklak, and the Sizzling Sisig (pork). For those unacquainted with Laing, you will find yourself thinking of Hawaiian food but that it's been improved on. The coconut milk with the taro leaves provide a unique flavor outside of the common pancit, adobo, and lumpia mix. The Chicharon Bulaklak was sublime! It was perfectly deep fried and the inner soft parts of each piece retained their heat throughout the whole meal (how?!). You could hear the crackling noises for a few minutes after it was brought to the table. The Sizzling Sisig was full of flavor and not over cooked the way you see in many other places. Their Sizzling Sisig is quite literally one of the best I've ever tried, however it's much better when dining in. Nonetheless, it's still flavorful and delicious! The Lechon Kawali is also incredibly crispy and the sauce is great. I don't think that they're doing dine in still but they do take phone and online orders on their website. When my family and I dined here we tip 20 percent, when i get takeout anywhere i do not tip because what service did you provide me? This is an authentic Pilipino restaurant that all the locals seem to flock to. It's in the Mercedes lot and you have to look for parking even on off peak hours. There are not a lot of tables so be prepared to wait. The wait staff had a welcoming, laidback vibe. The food was amazing! We had the oxtail kare kare that was tender and fall off the bone good! For a curry dish, it was not too hot, and had great flavor, a lot of mixed vegetables like bok choy, eggplant and string beans. The lechon was lots of crispy, deep fried pieces that were not too fatty. This is a popular dish with the crowd. Almost every table had some. We also had a fish dish that was unique. They served the whole fish fried where the skin was crispy and the meat was tender but not dry. I am not a big rice eater but I had to had a good serving of the garlic rice, even had seconds. Definitely get the big bowl if the waiter recommends that size. Value for the money and delicious! We were so stuffed with our meal that we had no room for dessert. Anytime I am within 50 miles of this restaurant I visit it because of its perfectly seasoned tender meats, perfect spices and rice, and it's absolutely delicious sweets. We're quite new to filipino food, but have had occasional dalliances here & there. We heard good things about Chibog, & decided to give them a try. We got to go the crispy pata (deep fried pork leg), a cup of garlic rice, & the pancit palabok (rice noodle with shrimp sauce, ground pork, topped with fried pork rinds, fish flakes & egg). The crispy pata was pretty darn good! Its a good size, really meaty, great value for money. The pork skin was very crispy all over, none of that dried out tough chewy "kronch". The meat was surprisingly tender & lush, seasoned all the way through - how???!!!! The garlic rice, fluffy, fragrant, not greasy or heavy, but a little expensive for 5 bucks. Pancit Palabok was something I didn't quite get. If there was any sauce, it was all soaked up by the rice noodles. There were slices of hard boiled egg, & crumbs of fried pork rind. I didn't notice any ground pork or fish flakes. Also, I didn't love that the noodles were rather broken up. To be fair, I did get the food to go, so mebbe this dish just didn't travel well. At $18.25 (& a dollar MORE than the crispy pata) I feel like it was rather expensive for what it was. I would come back, but I would be more careful with my selections, & I'll be sure to refer to Yelp photos for a better idea of what I'm getting. read more
